If you’ve got over £5000 to invest I would suggest you use Vanguard. Then make use of your £20k tax free ISA allowance 1 Like |

Good Evening all, I arrived the UK on the 14th of Jan. but up till now I have not collected my BRP, I'm suppose to pick up from my sponsor which is my school. They sent me an email to inform me that they don't have my BRP, that I should contact the home office. I am suppose to travel by the end of march, but I don't think that is possible now. How can I go about this pls? |

MarketDispatch: It’s always advisable to invest in stocks and shares for the long term. You only loose or gain when you cash in. Shares have always been a risky investment but the returns are high when you are patient. In the meantime you get paid dividends while you wait. If you are impatient then be ready to take risk if you want very high returns. 1 Like 1 Share |

Osed: Some of us experienced the same as well. Arrived November 11 and mine was only ready for pickup on the 19th of February 2021. Have you notified the home office by reporting online on https://www.gov.uk/biometric-residence-permits/collect ? If No, please do so ONCE and wait for Home Office response within 20 working days. Travelling now is not encouraged. If you need to travel, please be sure it is for something urgent as you will need to apply for a BRP replacement visa from where you are travelling to which might take 3 weeks to get and costs 154 pounds. All the info you need is on that gov.uk page I shared. 1 Like 1 Share |

Good morning to everyone on here. Trust we are doing good. Please I would appreciate if anyone can help me clarify some things here 1. Does British airline accept naira debit Mastercard to book flights if one is going to the UK 2. I heard car insurance is quite expensive in the UK. Please Which of the following licence will give a lower insurance cost? The Nigeria driver's licence? International driver's licence or UK Provisional licence? And also can i have an idea of the costs as well? Can license have some kind of little impact on insurance especially for new entrants, someone mentioned it does but I am not sure. Thanks as you take your time to enlightene me |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by Lexusgs430: 9:04am On Mar 06, 2021 |
Igengo: 1 - Remember CBN limited monthly transactions to $100 (unless that flight ticket is $99.99) 2 - None of the listed driving licences, would accord you cheaper car insurance....... Budget between £1300 - £2500, for your car insurance (depending on postal code & vehicle + vehicle cc) NB : But get an international DL, which would be tied to your date of entry, stamped on your passport)......... If you are currently insured in Nigeria, get an historical information from your insurance company........ NB : Don't forget, you also need to pay £210.00 for your UK covid21 test, before boarding that flight......... 3 Likes |

Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by Aphrodite007(f): 10:55am On Mar 06, 2021 |
wonlasewonimi: Can you explain more please. Vanguard is currently at £51 which is an all time low as it seemed to have crashed within the last year. Do you advise I buy even when it’s that low? I thought stocks are better when you buy and just abandon them. But my sticks have crashed a lot recently (maybe the Bitcoin problem affected them) but I haven’t sold them because that’s the logic right? If you sell at a loss, you lose. |

Flexvilla: Hi, I think I sent you a pm sometimes ago. Hope you're settled now? How far have you gone with your ACCA? I get requests occasionally from recruiters for qualified and part qualified ACCAs. I can pass these to you when I get them, assuming you are interested in accountant roles. Pay is not bad and sometimes offer flexible working. |

Aphrodite007: Generally stock values are crashing right now which is the right time to buy. You hold stocks for future except you're trading in CFDs. I just buy whatever shares I feel like and leave them there, one day they will pick up. For example, Tesla is on a free fall now, I am thinking of buying a full share just for the sake of it and as a future investment. I bought £1k bitcoin before the downturn I made about extra 400 pounds on it in about 2 weeks of boom. I have just left it there now. Experts are speculating it would get to 100kusd before end 2021. 2 Likes |

wonlasewonimi: I wouldn't buy Tesla now but i will watch to see how low it will fall, i bought about 7 last time it clashed to about 300+ and sold almost all of it when it went up, Elon Musk's decision making process can be unsettling/erratic sometimes and makes it for one to see it as long time investment. He is likely to face a strong competition from other EV companies like NIO, Xpeng etc |

Hello fam. My niece is trying to apply for masters in public health and we are not sure of the relevance of this course to today’s UK labour market. Do we have anyone with public health background, works in related field or have relevant information about the practice here in UK as it relates to employability. |

Endlessgrace: [Strictly my opinion] Masters in Public Health (MPH) on its own without a fantastic experience in the field of public health is as useful as the letter ‘P’ in Psychology or Pneumonia. As vital as the letter ‘W’ in Greenwich or Norwich. First thing is, look through UK job sites. Including civil service jobs. Peruse their requirements. Hardly will you see a job advert that requires the applicant to hold an MPH. In my opinion [again, strictly my opinion], a good 1st degree, with RELEVANT experience is more vital than an MPH with little or no experience. If I may ask, in what field was your niece’s 1st degree? |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by marylandcakes: 7:00pm On Mar 06, 2021 |
justwise: I think now is the time to buy Tesla shares as a long term investment, my reason being when those shares start to go up which is very soon , I don’t think it will come this low. The future is electric cars. Look at the long term and stop checking share prices every second to avoid heart problems. Shares will always fluctuate . 1 Like |

Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by justwise(m): 8:21pm On Mar 06, 2021 |
marylandcakes: Yes you can buy now but i rather watch it to see how low it will fall, if you want to build your portfolio then you need to buy and sell else your money will not work for you. It makes no investment sense to buy a share and watch it grow and refused to sell when the share is going down. I remember buying a penny share when it was $3 and within a week that share went up to $12, i set an alert on it and the moment it started dropping i sold a number that represents my return then reinvest it in another share. That share hasn't moved much since then. 2 Likes |
