Why Is The Average Nigerian Always Angry? by Ademola47(m): 1:25pm On Mar 07, 2021
Recently, I noticed the number of angry Nigerians has increased.

From the saying "an hungry man is an angry man" we can say a poor man angry nature is understandable to an extent. What about the rich ones? The people in the middle and upper class? How do we explain their cause of angriness?
Fine, it's human thing to be sad or unhappy once in a while but how do we explain being angry unnecessary every time.

Everyone seems to be angry over little things that can be overlooked. You will mistakenly match them slightly and they'll want to fight you. You will ask a polite question and aggressive mode will be activated.

My most recent experience was yesterday morning when I went to the bank to get some money.
I took a bike which costs #50 normally. I gave the bike man #100 and he started shouting that I should have told him I didn't have change. Haha! #100 to collect #50 change. I forfeited the change. Own getting inside the bank, I saw 3 standing adjacently on the queue. I asked one of them "Please Sir, are you the last person on the queue" since it was hard to know whom I was behind. "You no get eyes. You no see say na my behind you dey".
When I left the bank, I wanted to buy sports newspaper. I told the vendor to give me Complete sports since he didn't display any sports newspaper and he replied angrily " I no get joor. If you no wan buy these ones make you comot for here".

Recalling the series of event, I find it hard to fathom the reason behind everyone's lingering angry mood.

The situation of the country, the stress we go through, mentally and physically. All this tell on our relationship with one another. we work over 12hrs just to survive, no time for family or vacation. And at the end you'll be paid peanuts. Even the rich ones work twice these days, stay in traffic for four hours, children complaining about lots of things, family requesting for help here and there. All this amount for the anger you see on people's faces.

Poverty, Climate change and lack of mental health awareness.

Big culprits. SOCIAL MEDIA. And Fake life style shown on social media making people feels inferior

Pacific Standard explores the effect that extreme temperatures brought on by climate change might have on our collective mental well-being: Studies make the link to increased stress and anxiety.

Solutions. Download mental health apps, listen to soft instrumental music. limit your social media exposure. Read mental health books.

Instead of buying expensive necklaces, bracelets go to vacations. Take break from the city, Live in nature.

STOP TAKING DRUGS/ALCOHOL or limit to minimum.

It Depends on the kind of anger!
Some of us are angry against Abominations, Iniquity, Wickedness and evil that has filled the whole place.
Others could be angry due to a lack of basic amenities and their needs.
Anger is also a Spirit.
All in all! The Joy of the Lord is our Strength!
It's at feet of JESUS that burdens are lifted!
You can't Explain it!

There's this saying that if everyone is claiming their mother is good and sweet then who owns those wicked Nigerian mother's at government Secretariat and even the university senate. Or did/have you ever tried those women who are secretary to department HODs for higher institution? After nurses, na them worse pass. Very rude and wicked.

I used to respect this Nairaland resident pastor until I found out he isn't a good Christian.

Anyone that claims to be a Christian but does not tolerate other denominations belief and mode of worship and believes everyone should worship the way he does or pray the way his church/pastor does is not a good Christian.
Anyone that believes other denominations are hell bound unless they accept his own way of praying to God is not a good Christian.

That's who you are.

You better stop the hatred and judgement on other denominations and religions before it's too late.

Thank you and happy Sunday.

OP, the people you dealt with are either illiterates or semi- illiterates. And you can not use them as a yardstick to say all Nigerians are angry.

Good question.

It is a social problem due to the hardship of the environment, and others behavior. Could also be caused by injustice or a mentality of injustice.
Leadership is a major factor of this social problem.

Obviously you can't be a Nigerian and be happy. what's is there to be happy about in this God forsaken shithole? is it the failed government and useless leaders we have that will make you happy? is it the continuous inflation in price of goods that will make you happy? is it the the increase rate of unemployment that will make you happy? Please is the continuous rise in terrorism and Banditry that will make you happy?

There's nothing in this shithole to make one happy nothing at all, you can quote me anywhere.

why won't the average Nigerian be Angry? The system is not favourable. Too much work, with little or nothing to show for it. School is another 'wahala' after all the suffering to gain admission, go through all the suffering lecturers, ASUU and government will put you through, to get a good job is by connection or by on top bed procedure or you have plenty grace. The weather sef is too hot
