ositadima1:Well said bro, but this does not apply always. It is still small cartel that import fuel as we have it now, this is because the business is not for everyone, when you consider the capital involve. They are still going to be small cartel importers that can manipulate price anytime if they want to. |

ositadima1:The way others were given and they refused to build is the same way Dangote was given and he built. So if they refused to build and instead want to be importing to collect fictitious subsidy, they should not come and complain in future that there is no competition. Abi na government wen give the license go build for them?. |

ahiboilandgas:Even with the Chinese money you have been using the country is still in like a bear market. Progressing backwards. |

NL1960:Allow people who only want to import do there thing and let d market decide, but no u want a monopoly. In future when you start experiencing higher prices than compative markets don't complain o. The worst is that monopolies can gain political powers and the ability to shape society in an undemocratic way. It is already happening. |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ositadima1(m): 3:18pm On Mar 13, 2021 |
NL1960:Did u follow my argument? Where did I say Dangote should not be allowed to build refinery or open businesses? |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by NL1960: 3:20pm On Mar 13, 2021 |
ositadima1:Import with Naira or with which dollars?. You allow import with the country's dollars and create employment in another country while complaining of lack of jobs in the country thereby making people to celebrate picking of a call because they got US and Canada visa. |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by NL1960: 3:22pm On Mar 13, 2021 |
ositadima1:Others with licenses should go and build refineries so as to prevent Dangote from being a monopolist. |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ahiboilandgas: 3:33pm On Mar 13, 2021 |
OgogoroFreak:we go buy share for the refinery that the we I earn dividen from Dangote cement too when dangote cement was listed it double the index of the markets...so it a plus for we like wise million of pension fund holders will have more places to invest their RSA while non investors and ranters will benefit for forex saving and sale of forex to cbn to ( est 20 bn USD) u can fund your Naria debit card easy when applying for visa in God pick call nation |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ositadima1(m): 3:34pm On Mar 13, 2021 |
NL1960:Even USA with d second highest number of refineries in d world imports refined petroleum products. You can check that. Like I said before, d market will re-balance itself. If Dangote and other refineries can sell cheaper d other importers will be forced to downsize, in a situation where Dangotes sell higher dan attainable the imported will ramp up. It is a normal natural process. |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ahiboilandgas: 3:36pm On Mar 13, 2021 |
ositadima1:they should be allowed to import but source dollars from where na ? |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ositadima1(m): 3:37pm On Mar 13, 2021 |
NL1960:No, instead let people who want to import do their thing. |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ositadima1(m): 3:38pm On Mar 13, 2021 |
ahiboilandgas:Where will dangote source his own dollars? Do u think that is only crude dat runs refineries? |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ahiboilandgas: 3:45pm On Mar 13, 2021 |
ositadima1:from loans and grants from foreign banks and cbn with guarantees we will buy more usd from Dangote group in future that we have him ....cbn only contributed 50 bn naira .....so your importers what long term benefits outside exporting jobs and damaging our economy u plan and design the future today not tommorow |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ahiboilandgas: 3:47pm On Mar 13, 2021 |
ositadima1:the should source dollars outside Nigeria and also not remit sale from Nigeria we cant afford to be converting there nair a sale to dollars to wire out to God pick call country |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ositadima1(m): 3:51pm On Mar 13, 2021 |
ahiboilandgas:So the refinery will be run with loans and grants according to you, are these loans not going to be repaid with interests? Where will d dollar come from? Why can u do ur thing and let others do theirs? Why don't u want the market to decide, do u have a hidden agenda? |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ositadima1(m): 3:54pm On Mar 13, 2021 |
ahiboilandgas:Dangote will also be remitting part of his returns abroad. You need regular supply of chemicals and machinery to run a refinery. Like I said before, the fact dat crude comes from Nigeria doesn't mean capital flight won't be happening. |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by NL1960: 4:03pm On Mar 13, 2021 |
ositadima1:Nigeria is a developing country while US is a developed country. Btw, did US start by allowing everybody to be importing fuel?. I hope you know that the US owns the dollar that is being used for the import. If we can import with the Naira, why not in allowing everybody to import. Me too go join the fuel import gang with my Naira. |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by NL1960: 4:05pm On Mar 13, 2021 |
ahiboilandgas:Source dollars from US now. Shebi dollars full US. |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ositadima1(m): 4:19pm On Mar 13, 2021 |
NL1960:My Brother, Dangote refinery will not stop importation of refined products. They know that na, that is why they are proposing limiting imports to only "refinery owners". Let's not be going in circles. My beef is why should it be only refinery owners, they even want it to be proportional to the size of d refinery output effectively putting him in charge. Why do they want to corner the whole space to themselves? |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ositadima1(m): 4:25pm On Mar 13, 2021 |
Some people want MTN saga to happen all over again. Have u forgotten how MTN milked Nigerians dry when dey where dominating telecom space. |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by NL1960: 4:35pm On Mar 13, 2021 |
ositadima1:Those with refinery licenses should at least go and build 5,000 barrels refinery and then join the fuel import train. If we have 20 of such 5,000 barrels refinery owners importing, they will collectively give Dangote a run for his money. |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by NL1960: 4:41pm On Mar 13, 2021 |
ositadima1:Did other GSM companies sit and be complaining or they ramp up their operations to give MTN competition?. MTN said that they could not do per second billing. Adenuga did not sit down and be complaining. He got a license. Came up with Glo and started with per second billing which forced MTN to do per second billing. The Cable TV company that came to compete with DSTV got EPL rights but instead of strategizing on long term, the man thought he had arrived and started living lavishly and the company crashed. |

NL1960:That is d problem, u don't even follow my argument. Let other people who can't build refineries be allowed to import, open d market to all as long as u can afford to run d biz.. I am tired my friend. We are running round and round too much. |

Regarding Tbills, what causes the fluctuations in interest rates? Sometimes it goes up to 18% and now 5%. Is it arbitrarily set by the government? Alternatively, does it mean that the economy is now projected to be less risky or reduced inflation and so d government is only willing to pay us less for freezing our moneys ? Or could it be an avenue to mop excess funds by d government, in this case, does it mean their are less funds in circulation? |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by NL1960: 5:55pm On Mar 13, 2021 |
ositadima1:I follow your argument quite alright and i understand it. I do not agree with you that people should be allowed an open field to import. We need to develop the country and create employment for our teeming youthful population. I have kids growing up here. Where you want them to work?. As US and Canada cannot contain all our teeming youths, we need to keep the majority of them here and get them engaged. Giving our scarce dollars to people just to import fuel thereby creating employment in other countries does not cut it for me. it is even a shame that we sell crude oil and then import fuel. It is like a cassava farmer selling cassava and perpetually buying garri with the proceeds from those he sold the cassava to. Where i come from, such a farmer will be the butt of jokes in any gathering. You want to import fuel, then build a refinery even if na 1,000 barrels. I support Dangote proposal 100%. Btw, you saw what happened in US during the pandemic where people were queueing and fighting over common tissue paper. That is a result of allowing everybody and everything to be imported. |
