Pls gurus in the house, is it possible for someone who applied for PR to also apply for Canadian student visa?
I just got admission into one of the colleges in Ontario which is different from the province (Manitoba) that nominated me for PR.
Since the PR is not forthcoming, I decided to apply for admission.
Please am I on the right path? Hope it won’t affect my study permit application.
I would appreciate your sincere advice.

Dual intent is legitimate and acceptable according to the IRCC case law clearly spelled out on their official website. However, when applying for study permit, you must demonstrate that you're a bonafide student who will study on a temporary basis and would return home after studies.

Good morning,

I have a pricking question:

If one has been admitted into a department and he intends changing his course of study and he his study permit application has been approved but he hasn't travelled yet, can he switch his course of study?

Note that he has paid full tuition to the institution.

Regards.

You're absolutely free to switch to any course of study or DLI once your study permit has been approved. You should inform IRCC via your CIC account about your intent to transfer/switch to another program. IRCC will acknowledge your request and update your records accordingly.

Hello Gurus in the House. I just got an admission to a University in canada. I am getting ready to apply for visa. But i have a problem.

I don't have enough to pay the school fees yet but i have a very good bank statement. I also have good family ties but no travel history. Will it be advisable to proceed for the visa application like this?

A good bank statement, adequate family ties and course correlation/reasonableness are what you require for successful study permit application to Canada. It's never a requirement to pay upfront tuition prior to the submission of your application. In view of the foregoing, you should go ahead with your application.

Hi Guru's in the house.

Please can my sister who resides in Canada be the sole sponsor for my studies in Canada? We are 5 years apart in age and she is the one truly paying my tuition.

Does anyone have any advise on what we ought to do or not to do?

Thank you

Your sister in Canada can sponsor your studies in Canada. However, its highly advisable that you must demonstrate tangible family ties like properties, registered business and investments in your name to prove to the visa officer beyond every reasonable doubt that your incentives to return back to Nigeria far outweighs that of CANADA. Your ability to provide adequate ties to Nigeria determines your application success.

Please what type of digital photo am I to submit with my application? Is it regular passport or normal picture?

You can walk into any of the business centers or photo studios around your locality and request for 2X2 visa passport. This is the required size for study visa application for Canada and US.

Transcripts is a very essential document to be included alongside your application package when applying for a study visa to Canada. Even though, there are a few number of applicants who were successful without including their transcripts with their application, I would urge you to include it. I recently noticed a new refusal reason from the immigration of Canada, which is often as a result of "missing marksheets/transcripts" to show progression for the chosen course of study. To play on a safe path with your two eyes closed, its advisable to include one.

With respect to your second question, the amount in your account matters a lot in your visa application and further demonstrate your personal financial establishment. If you're a matured applicant and in gainful employment for the past 3 years and above, its very important to show substantial proof of funds on your part irrespective of the fact of being sponsored by a family member.

I hope this information satisfies your enquires.

Thanks Frankrobbn1 for your good responses. I have statement of result which represents my transcript, I think. This statement of result can be found on my school portal, online. I will also provide means of checking the result online. 2. I'm a matured student, I have a good statement of account but very poor closing balance and that's why I decided to use my uncle. Please, I need clarification on this. Thanks.

Thanks I have done that too

Frankrobbn1:

I don't think this should have a negative effect on your present study permit application considering that you're a minor (below the age of 18) as at when your mom filed for the US application. You can provide an updated study permit form IMM1294E and upload it via IRCC webform with brief explanation addressing the issue. You will face no problems whatsoever in the hands of the immigration authorities.

I have done that thanks so much frank
I hope they see it

Frankrobbn1:

Withdrawal of her current study permit application shouldn't be a feasible option here. She was a minor when her mum filed for the US application. She can update the IMM1294E study permit application form by including the refusal and provide a brief letter of explanation addressing this concern. From my vast experiences, no reasonable visa office allegedly charge her for misrepresentation.

@ozone00001, please be properly guided.

I can confirm undergrad admissions are already rolling out though.
