Great researcher indeed. Great researcher wey get grammar issues.

What the hell is "does the grammy worth the hype"?
Instead of "is the grammy worth the hype"?

Nonsense researcher
Does the Grammy Award is what a typed. Grammy Award is a proper noun and a single Award hence the "Does".

Trash,If you really listen to most songs that win Grammys they have d quality and some pass quality messages to d public and for a Nigerian Artist to win a grammy it's worth celebrating cause take it or leave it a lot of American and world Artist still dream of it.Those American Artists you claim pee on it or whatever have their personal reasons for doing it and Americans behave differently from Nigerians

Imagine!...Its still shocking that 'The Weeknd' wasn't nomimated!

He was one of the very few artists that shook the industry last year...But. ,Rumour has it that he was refused a nomination cos he turned down performing at the grammies for the "Super bowl Half time "...

Which in my opinion was worth it

But those record labels don't just sign any artist.. They signed those who can win them awards not just grammy. Pay good money for endorsement

Same way top football clubs are buying the best players.

It's all about winning and succeeding

Football business is different from music industry.

Music is all about making very fast money, influential record labels only sign artists that are making waves as independent artists and then give him the necessary media exposure. The labels create the brand for endorsements not the artists.

They also promise artists Grammy as long as you are loyal and sing the type of music they want.

An award that choose Ryan Lewis and Macklemore for Best Rap Album the same year Kendrick Lamar dropped Good Kid Maad City cannot be a measure of quality.

Award means a prize or other mark of recognition given in honour of an achievement.

Why the hype on Grammy Awards?

The way we Africans see and do things always got me puzzled.
We see Grammy Award as god. I'm not in anyway hating those who won. But how me celebrate this Grammy is what I don't understand.

In America. Most American acts don't see Grammy as anything.
I remember one rapper who was given a Grammy Award and he rejected it.

Last year an American rapper pee on a Grammy Award (something most Africans see as god)
Few hours ago another American rapper took to his Twitter to write F88k Grammys.

These people a different way of reasoning I don't know if it's because of their environment because environment can't influence one's reasoning.

Winning Grammy does not make you bigger or better than others.
Not winning Grammy does not mean your crafts are useless.

I know over 10 American rappers who never won a Grammy but you can't talk about Hip Pop and you don't mention their names.

Imagine someone like Nas just won his first Grammy after how many years in the industry? He never made it a big deal.

It's worth it man!

It's a prestigious one

Like Tiwa and Yemi won baa?

Sure, the women category is all about gender not talent.

Anyway, yemi and tiwa are talented but then record labels change their style of music

Bro, there is no recession in Football and music. It's all about business.

If as a footballer you are not playing as expected, you won't be recognized not to talk of winning Ballon D'or same as an artist that is not making good music, no way you can win any awards..

Nigerians only value imported things. Angelique Kidjo won her first Grammy some years ago and her country didn't brag. British acts has been sweeping the award in some years, but you don't see them shut down the Internet.

Now a Nigerian won a less competitive category and the president must congratulate him. Nigerians can overdo. Not saying it's a bad thing, only say we sabi carry things for head.

A Korean movie won best picture at the Oscars last year and Koreans never shut down the Internet or badmouth their other filmmakers

The same OP will jubilate if his preferred footballer wins Ballon D'or. Grammy is the musicians' Ballon D'or and it's celebrated everywhere. People only ignore it when thier preferred artists don't win anything. If you had watched France24, ICI RDI, etc, you'd have seen how it was celebrated in other places where the winning artists have strongholds. Even in the US, musicians use it to measure success. They only say "Bleep it" when they get nothing or have issues with the organizers. This idea of always saying "but in America..." is sickening. Do you!

The media exposure and your wack pop song can make you win a grammy.

Football is tallent.

Music is not about talent.

Who do you think nominate artists for grammy, if not the the same music executives in the music industry.

Yes because they are not much. There are only 3 record labels that control the music industry in America and also all the streaming sites

Universal Music Group, Sony Music and Warner Music Group

And you have to be signed or be in partnership with them to win a Grammy.

Independent records label hardly win Grammys

Chance the rapper won a Grammy and he is independent grin grin

Being recognized on global stage with award is not what could be waved aside with the back of hand,it doesn't matter what American musicians who are winners of such awards have done with them or felt about them.

Congrats to Burna boy and Wizkid on the Grammy award
However, an award we all must not miss is the Bema awards at the Judgement seat of Christ
This award is reserved for those who labor faithfully in the Lord's vineyard.

Strive not to miss it, whether or not you are recognized or appreciated.
