falcon01:Point taken But wait, are you saying people who demonstrate faith in God shouldn't have commonsense? Does having faith in God clash with following commonsense social distancing codes? Pls help my understanding |
I believe no one here ever imagined all that have happened in 2020 so far as at December 2019. Yet, here we are. And regardless of all that's happening, life must go on. No doubt, the Corona Virus Pandemic has exposed the frailty of all human systems - certain things are beyond us. Luckily for us, we have history to guide us as this is not the first pandemic. There were others in the past that claimed hundreds of million lives. And the world still survived them. Clearly, we will survive this too. Keep hope alive. *Nigerian Reality* Our Nigerian experience of managing the pandemic has exposed our leadership crisis even further. From Federal to State to LG (if the last rung actually exists), we have witnessed all kinds of dysfunctional ideas, the worst being that of not closing borders and airspace on time. Sadly, all that is spilt milk now because the damage is already done. *Relaxation of Lockdown* Even with the lockdown order, Covid19 still managed to switch to *Community Transmission* stage in several States like Lagos, Abuja and the FCT. The implications of this are grave, especially with the attendant spike in numbers and the place of Lagos in the South and Kano in the North. *THE MUST IMPORTANT INGREDIENTS FOR LIFE AFTER THE LOCKDOWN ARE*: 1. ALERTNESS Relaxation of the lockdown doesn't mean the virus has gone on break. As a matter of fact, it means we are all being asked to go and face it. To be alert therefore is to not let your guard down with regards to all preventive and hygiene measures. 2. COMMONSENSE In the real sense of it, this is when everything we have learnt about Social Distancing will be tested. The question is: will we have the commonsense to stick to the codes? Commonsense they say is not common. 3. DIGITAL ADAPTABILITY Before now, digital disruptions had already begun to impact the way we live (biz and other relationships). If you haven't started thinking of living online before, this is the time to adapt. The future is entirely digital. To be rigid is to be left behind. We must adapt every skill and expertise to this digital reality now more than ever. Move or consolidate your biz online now! 4. MORE SAVINGS There's hardly anyone who the lockdown hasn't exposed in this area (I think I'm number one here!). Starting from Monday, it has become clearer that we can't spend it all as usual. Covid19 has exposed the vanities of life even more. We must now invest in what truly matters: assets that yield returns. 5. GREATER FAITH IN GOD In times like this we need an anchor. Who else do you run to in a sick world with failed systems and govts? The only assurance of Peace and Hope is a deep faith and connection to the Almighty God. ------------ These are some of things I believe we need to imbibe in the days ahead. As Jack Ma aptly noted recently, 2020 is that year where we should think about survival first before anything else. Do not let poor govt thinking give you a false sense of security. Of course, the economics of survival needs to go on in a country where most people survive on daily returns, but your ultimate goal is to stay alive first so you can pursue all your life goals when this storm is over. God bless all Nairalanders/Nigerians. Amen |
Shehuyinka:Very poor thinking. I thought they said this Pantami guy has a very good resume? |

Lanrelagboi:Great job. Well done to Sanwo Olu and his team. However, they must not forget the only place they can exclude from distribution of these relief is Banana Island. Everyone else needs it, especially Alimosho |
sammyj:Very horrible and irresponsible leadership. I don't blame them. They have us in a place where we never get to react to their nonsense through tribal, religious and pocketmoni divisions. My only pain is that I have friends who are always defensive of this govt. Friends of many years! I can't understand what happened to their brain, how they manage to rationalise everything the man does. |

RisenPhoenix:That age prescription part got me ![]() |
PrinceDangana:I don't think u understand the OP's plight: it's not about saving food! It's about the brother in law having minimum decency to understand that as a wife now, the kitchen belongs to her! It's no longer a "boy zone" where you enter and dish food anyhow, leave plates anyhow, or do whatever you like. |
FrLukas:Your response wan make me fall in love o! But first, I got to know ya S first! |
Iwantpeace:This is a delicate issue. First reason is because you allowed your brother-in-law's behavior, which though might not be offensive to many commenters on the thread, is actually irresponsible and disrespectful, while still dating his brother. It's irresponsible and disrespectful because boundaries are part of life and living as if there are none means you'll be inconveniencing someone whether they're complaining or not. In this case you're complaining. Even if you didn't, there's something we all call "use your mind" in the street, which simply implies not taking undue advantage of friendship or relationship because the other person doesn't complain. Second reason is that now that you are married to his brother, with the attitude you talked about, it's clear he expects you to even care less since you didn't complain earlier. If you don't handle your complain well now, it will raise concerns from in-laws if they are the types that don't believe their son deserves some breathing space with his own family. Wisdom is profitable to direct This is supposed to be an issue for your husband to address quickly before too much resentment sets in. He must however not present it as coming from you: he should call his brother and with a lot of love, make him understand that there's a way he expects him to behave in the house now that he is married. He should mentor him. Handled with enough maturity, everyone should be happy and even closer in the end. But if hubby is the *scared of what family will think* type, then you have to have a warm heart-to-heart discussion with your brother inlaw. He's your brother too after all! Talk to him with love as a brother. PS: I'm kinda horrified by many responses to this OP, responses which makes one think if people still got anything in their heads. I mean, how could people encourage irresponsibility in the name of claiming who should have more right in a new nuclear family. Nonsense! |

Hello Nairaland movie people, I have decided to go beyond merely criticizing Nollywood to making my own input on raising the bars story and screenplay-wise. The result is a Tyler Perry-style Romantic Drama with this working title below: WHAT'S WRONG WITH ENO? Logline: “Is anything wrong with today's African woman seting a man-goal?" The story of a young executive who defies cultural role definitions for the African woman in her pursuit of romantic/marital happiness and fulfillment. Maybe something is really wrong with her...or maybe she is the torchbearer for tomorrow's African woman.” A compelling romantic drama on role reversal Anyone interested in producing a Tyler Perry standard story should hit me up to have this. Treatment, Story and Screenplay available on request
