My friend, racism is well institutionalised here in UK but pretend to the whole world as if it does not exist here. These people are nothing but pure racists.

Let me share my last experience with you here. A white British guy who was my neighbour threatened me by saying he was going to kill me with a gun within few mins. I didn't take it serious until another parking incident took place. He threatened me again with a gun but before he left, I told him that he was lucky that we are in a country where criminal record exist otherwise, I would have beaten him to stupor.

He left but came back few hours later with a real gun this time around. I kept quiet while he was cursing me with the gun in his hand. I wanted to play Stevester Stallion but I thought to myself that o boy, this motherfucker would just pull the trigger and that would be the end. I decided to chill till he left my door.

I went inside and called police about what had just happened. They came with their dogs, helicopters and armed policemen hiding in all the strategic places around his house which wasn't far away from mine.

However, a lady police was taking my report while the rest of the police men were on his ass; searching his place for a gun which they eventually found but unknown to me at that point in time.

Finally, few days after the incident, the police called me that I have to come to Court that the case I have been scheduled to be heard in one of the crown courts. I wasn't happy cos the police told me that the case might take couple of days which would affect my rota at work. I tot about it and I called them back to inform them that I wasn't interested in the case but only to be told that it's mandatory for me to attend cos the case was now btw my neighb our and the state cos gun was involved. At this juncture, i now said to myself that Mo ma gbe oooo.

The hearing date came and trial started. To my greatest surprise, police man in charge started playing games with me by stylishly turning the case against me. O boy, I started calling my friends and church members who are lawyers to seek their advice about my predicament..........

Hmmmmm!!! O boy, they nearly put the whole case on my head oooo if not cos of my lawyer friend and church members who are lawyers by profession.

The Marina Port, Calabar is the first sea port in Nigeria.

The FG since independence has only expanded Lagos wharf and built Tin Can from scratch!

You can bet why they concentrated all this in Lagos in order to promote industrial packaging firms in the SW.

Your argument about Akwa Ibom not having the legal right to develop the seaport does not hold water. Lagos conceptualised Lekki Deep Seaport and started it with FG and private investors joining in. What stopped Akpabio for good 8years from.achieving same? At what time did the leaders of Akwa Ibom paid Akpabio or GEJ a visit, tasking them on the completion of the Ibaka project. None to my best of knowledge.

It amazes me that the government that does not have the time for Ibaka, invested in Lekki Seaport, was eating with 1bn, was buying presidential jets, was doling out dollars to.people.

The only way Jonathan could have financed the Ibaka project was with minimum federal stake which will not raise objections in the Senate through budget screening and that would have been through direct foreign investment.

Do you know what stages discussions on concession would have been between Akwa Ibom, China and FG by now?

There would have been no way, the IBAKA see project will not get stalled if it was presented as a Federal project in a budget to the National assembly.

The only route would have been to shop for a foriegn investor through BOT arrangement.

But given the instability in the national political terrain no foriegn investor will invest In a project that will most likely be cancelled in future.

The only way is for Akwa Ibom to develop the port on their own but they don't have the legal powers to develop such infrastructure because accordingly, all water fronts and water ways are exclusively the preserve of the Federal Govt.

The Ibaka sea port also suffered because the chances of restricting port operations as an export point and for only designated specific imports will surely cripple it's capacity. This is something any northern or southwestern led administration can easily do.


So you see the problem goes beyond funding but is as a result of deliberate sabotage.

It is one thing to have the infrastructure up and running and it is another thing to have the required designation for the port.

Just like Airports, categorization determines the capacity of the port.

Enugu Airport was just recently categorized as an international airport which will see that international carriers operate in and out of the port.

If the same FG refuses to categorize the sea ports in the SE coastline for importation but rather maintains them as mere oil tanker jetties and export ports then little can be achieved economically for the SE ports of Warri, Calabar, Port Harcourt and even the yet to be constructed Ibaka port.

This is where the opposition lies and there is every indication that the SW selfishly opposes this, while the north is afraid of any major developmental stride in the SS and SE without them because as things stand with the GDP from these regions a sea port is bound to further enrich these state.

There is also the conspiracy of the French concessioned owners of Tin Can Container port who currently enjoy a monopoly in the business. Opening up another port to the east will surely reduce traffic to their port.

Marina port now Marina Resort was the first port established in what is now known as Nigeria.

Since the British moved the capital to Benin in fear of German Cameroon in the East and to take part in more trade with the French in the west, Marina port slowly lost it's place.

With the advent of independence, the Yorubas had been successful to maintain their port monopoly with Lagos by entering trade with the north.

The SS and SE region still exported large quantities of Cash crops but with the advent of electricity, the lucrative palm oil trade which used to light up oil lamps in England saw a drastic reduction in port activities. Besides, the southeast coastline was dotted with smaller ports which were meant mainly to export cash crops like Timber, Cocoa, Rubber and palm kernel.
