What a cursed country

It's wild. So many of our athletes fell short of reaching in the finals or medalling in Track and Field. If the government did the bare minimum in terms of planning and providing resources, our medal yield would be so much higher. These things premised on careful planning and investment. It's not run and inshallah.

Nigeria should hone in on funding Track and Field training in the future. Was watching the events and you can see the great potential but we always fall short. This country could have great sporting accolades but the money nor the facilities aren't there.

After reading some of the negative comments by athletes on the level of organization by Paris, all I can say is,

It’ll be extremely difficult for an African country to host Olympics. The costs are just insane.

Cities spend upwards of 10 billion to host Olympics and these are cities that are very developed already. Now imagine African cities with poor infrastructure to begin with.

It’s even cheaper to host the World Cup than Olympics.

The only countries with capability to do so are Morrocco and South Africa. Maybe Egypt. Kenya (only Nairobi) if we're pushing it.

Were they in a pickup/technical? Those things are moving coffins nowadays. There's a reason why the US Army created the humvee. Every Nigerian soldier needs to be transported in an amounted personal carrier/MRAP/infantry fighting vehicle. Nothing less.
