There's what we call testing the waters.

That job of yours is well paying since you could save #3m in 5 years, you only feel you deserve more, which isn't bad.

Business too is stressful and mysterious, unless you want to opt for the quicker way to succeed business wise, which I won't talk about here.

Testing the Waters; you could start a business while working there and you invest in it gradually by employing someone to manage it for you, then you check records and accounts at your free time till you gain popularity around town and have loyal customers, then you can decide to stop.

Don't go all in, people telling you about businesses, entrepreneurship, uber business and all that don't tell you exactly how they succeed, it's a dark and corrupt world out here, more like a rat-race.

Romance / Newlywed On Honeymoon Caught Meeting Sex Worker After He Snuck Off From His Wife by Praise202(m): 9:44am On Aug 28, 2022
Newly married man who tried to have sex with a sex worker while on honeymoon with his wife was busted as part of a police sting.

Paul Turovsky, 34, was on his honeymoon in Hillsborough County, Florida, when he snuck off from his new wife to find a prostitute.

According to local reports, he found an advert for one, and went to an undisclosed location to meet the woman.

However, it turns out that the advert actually came from the police and was part of an undercover operation aimed at tackling human trafficking in the area.

In total, 176 people were arrested, and it is being reported that underage victims were found at the scene.

Sheriff Chad Chronister joked about the newlywed's arrest, saying: "We all probably have questions about how long this marriage lasted, but I think the only question here, with it ending too quickly, as a wedding guest, was it too late to get the gifts that they gave returned back to them."

The husband has been charged with solicitation of prostitution, and will appear in court later this year.

It is not known what happened to his new wife.

Giving more detail about the operation, which he called "disturbing", Sheriff Chad said that demand from their fake advert was so "overwhelming" that they had to hire more and more hotel rooms to catch the perverts.

Among those found were two missing teenagers, one of whom was found sleeping in a car in a supermarket carpark, while the other was found at a hotel with an alleged trafficker.

He added: "Sometimes the demand was so overwhelming that we had to go purchase a second, sometimes a third hotel room, because they would all show up at once.

"We believe these two individuals, these two men are responsible for trafficking many more women.

"I’m not able to say more without jeopardizing the investigation."

Politics / 2023: INEC Denies Backdating Documents To Accommodate Apc’s Lawan, Akpabio by Praise202(m): 8:27am On Aug 10, 2022
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday categorically denied recognising Senate President Ahmed Lawan and former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, as senatorial candidates for Yobe North and Akwa Ibom North-West senatorial districts respectively in the 2023 elections. INEC hasn’t recognised Lawan, Akpabio as Senatorial candidates – Okoye

Source:https://c.newsnow.com/A/1140227851

The Commission said it rejected the nomination of the duo following controversies that surrounded the primary elections that purportedly produced them as senatorial candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Both Lawan and Akpabio were presidential aspirants in the primary election. After failing to clinch the ruling party’s presidential ticket, they went back to muscle the senatorial tickets from those that won.

Reacting to an online report, which claimed that the Commission doctored and backdated documents to accommodate Lawan and Akpabio’s nominations, INEC said it has not recognized any of the two as candidates.

According to a statement by National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, the electoral umpire, said: “For clarity, the Form EC9 (submission of names of candidates by political parties) is the Form uploaded by parties on the INEC nomination portal. This is clearly indicated on the title of the Form which was received on 17th June 2022 when the portal closed.

“What follows is the publication of the personal particulars of nominated candidates which was done a week later. The Forms of the two personalities in question were not published by the Commission.

“The decision of the Commission triggered legal action which are still ongoing. It therefore defies logic and common sense to go around and submit doctored documents purportedly recognising the duo as candidates when the matter is clearly sub-judice.

“As part of the ongoing case in Court, a law firm requested the Commission for a Certified True Copy (CTC) of the Form EC9 submitted by the All Progressives Congress (APC) as its candidate for Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District which we are duty bound to oblige them under the law.

“The Form was certified on 15th July 2022. If minimum care has been exercised by the promoters of the story, they would have seen the two stamps of the Commission bearing different dates on the Form. It is this Form that is now misconstrued as INEC’ s endorsement.

“For the record, the Commission has not recognized any of the two personalities as a Senatorial candidate.

“We call for responsible reportage as against the unwarranted attack on the Commission and its officials over a matter than can be easily fact checked”.

Health / What We Know So Far About ‘langya,’ The New Virus Discovered In China by Praise202(m): 6:14am On Aug 10, 2022
Less than three years after the discovery of the Covid-19 virus, Chinese scientists say that they have discovered a new virus that may potentially be fatal to humans.

Thus far, the Langya Henipavirus, known as “Langya,” does not appear to be as deadly or spreading as quickly as Covid. According to data from Taiwan’s Centers for Disease Control (CDC), though the virus has already infected 35 people, none have become seriously ill or died.

Where was the virus discovered?

The virus has been identified in China’s Shandong and Henan provinces.

The first mention of the new virus came last week in a study titled “A Zoonotic Henipavirus in Febrile Patients in China” published in the New England Journal of Medicine, which included the data on infections in China. Twelve different researchers, based in China, Singapore, and Australia, contributed to the article.

What we know so far about ‘Langya,’ the new virus discovered in China

Less than three years after the discovery of the Covid-19 virus, Chinese scientists say that they have discovered a new virus that may potentially be fatal to humans.

Thus far, the Langya Henipavirus, known as “Langya,” does not appear to be as deadly or spreading as quickly as Covid. According to data from Taiwan’s Centers for Disease Control (CDC), though the virus has already infected 35 people, none have become seriously ill or died.

What are the symptoms of the virus?

The majority of the patients with the virus have developed a range of flu-like symptoms including fever, fatigue, cough, headache, muscle pain, loss of appetite, headache, nausea, and vomiting. Fatigue was the most common symptom, though the virus has also been linked with lower white blood cell counts in infected patients, as well as reduced liver failure and kidney function.

Of the 35 people identified as having contracted the virus, nine were asymptomatic.

How does the virus spread?

Scientists believe that the virus is zoonotic, passed from animals to humans. Shrews tested positive for the virus at the highest rate, though dogs and goats have also tested positive for the virus at lower rates.

The Tapei Times reported that the virus has not yet spread from human to human, though CDC officials cautioned that might change if the outbreak spreads. Researchers are still working to better identify the origins of the virus and how it spreads, though it is currently believed that there is no common exposure history between the people who have contracted the virus and that they did not infect close contacts like family members.

Taiwanese CDC Deputy Director Chuang Jen-Hsiang said in a press conference on Sunday that the agency is working to establish a nucleic acid test to test for and sequence the virus, and is also working with the Chinese Council of Agriculture to attempt to identify whether other viruses are found in species native to Shandong and Henan provinces.

The emergence of a new virus in the henipavirus seems to be cause for concern given the profile of the two other henipaviruses, the Hendra virus and Nipah virus, both of which can be transmitted by animals to humans and both of which have high fatality rates. There is a Hendra vaccine for horses, but no vaccine against any of the henipaviruses for humans. The viruses are members of the Paramyxoviridae family of single-stranded RNA viruses.

China discovers new potentially fatal virus which experts fear could trigger another pandemic

China has discovered a new, potentially fatal virus within its borders, which experts say could trigger another pandemic.

The Langya Henipavirus, referred to as "Langya," has already infected 35 people, according to Taiwan's Centers for Disease Control.

Authorities said the patients did not have close contact with each other or common exposure history, suggesting that human infections might be sporadic.

Meanwhile, Taiwan's Centers for Disease Control (CDC) are currently establishing a nucleic acid testing method to identify and check the spread of the virus.

The virus is in the same family as the Hendra virus and Nipah virus.

China discovers new potentially fatal virus which experts fear could trigger another pandemic

It is a virus that has not infected human beings prior to this outbreak. As a result, there are a lot of unknowns.

WHO data classifies Henipavirus with a 40-75% fatality rate.

The symptoms include fever, headache, cough, fatigue, etc.

A report by the New England Journal of Medicine says the infected patients had a history of being in contact with animals.

The Langya henipavirus has been found in China’s Shandong and Henan provinces and can be transmitted from animals to humans, reported Taipei Times.

Politics / Hoodlums Raze Politicians’ House In Adeleke’s Hometown Nigerian by Praise202(m): 9:45am On Aug 07, 2022
The country home of the Osun State Governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke was brought under attack as gunmen suspected to be political thugs set houses belonging to politicians ablaze and allegedly shot dead a member of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state.

Among the houses torched by the hoodlums was the residence of the parents of the Minority Leader of the Osun State House of Assembly, Akogun Kofoworola Babajide in Ede.

Pandemonium struck during a ward meeting of the PDP at Oloba Atapara area on Friday evening when some armed suspected political thugs attacked party members. Babajide is said to hail from the ward and his supporters were said to have gathered for the meeting, which ended abruptly due to the attack.

The hoodlums were said to have started shooting before a member of the PDP simply identified as Puranga was shot dead.

Amid the attack, it was gathered that a baby was snatched from the back of a nursing mother said to be the wife of Nureni Olobe, the Personal Assistant to Babajide. As at the time of filing this report, the child was yet to be found.

The crisis threw residents living in the area into panic.

Eyewitnesses account revealed that when the hoodlums left the scene of the meeting, they set the house of Babajide’s parents and those of his other political associates’ ablaze in the town.

Babajide confirmed the attack and arson and alleged that political thugs were behind the incidents.

The lawmaker said: “The political thugs have earlier attacked some PDP members at a Ward meeting I attended in Ede on Friday,” adding that his father has not been sighted since their (parents) house was burnt down.

“Some armed thugs attacked us during a ward meeting of PDP in Ede on Friday. After that, I left for Osogbo. Later, I was told that they were attacking my parents’ house. They burnt the house and since then, I have not seen my father.

“We don’t know if he’s burnt alive inside the house or they have kidnapped him,” Babajide revealed.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Yemisi Opalola said the incident happened on Friday night.

Meanwhile, the Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has called on Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and security agencies to immediately arrest the situation in Ede and other parts of the state before it escalates.

The Caretaker Chairman of the party, Dr Adekunle Akindele in a statement yesterday, condemned the attack on Babajide and other politicians.

He said: “The PDP wishes to call on Mr Gboyega Oyetola-led APC government, not to allow frustration of the defeat suffered at the recently concluded governorship election to eat deep into fabrics of governance in the state, or at least, resign immediately if the defeated governor has so much lost his bearing as chief security officer of the state.

“The PDP enjoins the good people of Osun State to remain calm and be vigilant as the party will work with relevant security agencies to bring perpetrators of the heinous crime to justice.

When contacted on the telephone, the Director of Publicity of APC, Kunle Oyatomi said he was not aware of the attack and that he would make inquiries.
Politics / Bye Bye For Obidients” – Senator Nnamani Asks Supporters To Dump Peter Obi by Praise202(m): 9:28am On Aug 07, 2022
POLITICS“Bye Bye for Obidients” – Senator Nnamani asks supporters to dump Peter ObiPublished on August 6, 2022By Ochogwu Sunday

Ahead of the 2023 presidential election, the federal lawmaker representing the Enugu East Senatorial District at the upper chamber, Senator Chimaroke Nnamani has called on his supporters to dump the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

He told the members of his Ebeano political family to dump the “Obidient Movement”.

The former Enugu State governor, who made the call via posts on his social media handles, said his constituents would not afford to loose the governorship and State Assembly because of Peter Obi.

According to him, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has laid foundation in the State that cannot be ceded to another party.

Referring to the movement for Peter Obi’s presidency as bandwagon, the lawmaker said such would not be allowed to take place in Enugu.

Nnamani is the founder of the Ebeano political dynasty in Enugu State.

He wrote, “We cannot lay foundation for another political party and expect to umbrella on it 2 weeks later. NOT in Enugu! Not in ebeano “country” Let’s cut the …,,, and muuuvvvveee.

“Obidient ebeano! Take a break we see you guys after Governorship and State Assemblies. This is a message to all ebeano. We go! No bandwagon in Enugu! IT is game ON!#ebeanoFAM.

“Politics is SERIOUS business. Not romantic Liason. We meet in February. May the majority win Enugu. We can not afford Bandwagon and loose Governorship and State Assemblies.

“Obidients Bye Bye for now. You win we congratulate you, after all we are kinsman. We win we meet again and roll”.

ASUU Strike Can’t Stop Us From Conducting Exam — JAMB
• As 42,000 candidates sit for mop-up nationwide
LATEST NEWSTOP NEWS
By Tunbosun Ogundare - Lagos On Aug 7, 2022

Oloyede, JAMB Registrar

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said the prolonged industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) which has kept their students away from classrooms now for many months cannot stop it from conducting another round of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) when it is due.

The Registrar of JAMB, Prof Is-haq Oloyede, gave this position in Lagos, on Saturday, while monitoring the mop-up exam, specially arranged for candidates whose centres were allegedly involved in malpractice and candidates with biometric issues during the general examination for this year in May.

About 1.7 million candidates sat for the exam nationwide while no fewer than 42, 000 candidates from the number sat the mop-up exam across 10 centres (outside their original centres) in about five states of the federation including Abia, Anambra, Delta, Edo and Lagos.

Fielding questions from newsmen shortly after going round some centres including that at WAEC International Office on Agidingbi in Ikeja and JKK House at Ilupeju on Ikorodu Road to have an on-the-spot- assessment of the exercise, Oloyode said there were many reasons the organisation could not be stopped from conducting another round of UTME either or not public university teachers are on strike as they are currently.

According to him, aside from that more than half of all private universities are in session, some public Universities, particularly most state universities are not on strike.

“I can mention some of them. I know of Osun State University, Lagos State University, Kwara State University, and several others. And the reason for that is simple. Many of them are not on state’s government subvention and so their lecturers’ salaries are paid from the school fees.

“So they know that if they should go on strike, their salaries will not be paid.

“And besides those institutions, some other public universities such as Defence Academy, Army University, Police University and the likes are also not on strike.

“So, can’t we then now say because lecturers in the federal universities and few others are on strike, we should stop conducting our exam? What about those who are not on strike?

“So, to do that will be an unfair thing in my thinking to those schools, students and even to the society at large. We can’t hold the entire system down because a part of it is having issue.”

Oloyede said he was also very concerned just like every other parent and stakeholder that the prolonged ASUU strike has forced their students to remain idle for many months and would want the crisis resolved without further delay for normalcy to return to those schools, explained that as far as JAMB is concerned, each university has a way of absorbing candidates who apply to them.

Explaining this, he said, except a university cancels a whole session on its own, the UTME results of their candidates irrespective of years remain valid until the commencement of a new session.

“So to us in JAMB, there is nothing like backlog of results as some people erroneously believe.”

Even at that, JAMB registrar said many of the candidates who sit the yearly UTME are not qualified for admission in any higher institutions and that JAMB cannot be held responsible but parents who push their children who are still in either SS1 or SS2 forward to sit for the exam to test their ability.

He said only the SSCE “OL” result is the major and permanent requirement for every admission seeker at whatever level in the country while UTME is just to rank them for admission.

Speaking about the mop-up, he said the exam went well across the centres except for about four to five candidates, who had biometric problems and that they were all given opportunity to sit for the exam but that their results would not be released until their details are verified.

Meanwhile, Tribune Online observed that some candidates could not start their exam until about 30 to 40 minutes after their allotted starting time due to pressure on the exam officials as they were many.

It was also observed that some candidates did not get to their centres on time, giving several excuses such as mistaking the WAEC testing centre for WAEC International Office for their lateness.

However, those who spoke to Tribune Online exclusively at WAEC Testing and Training Centre, Ogba and WAEC International Office on Agidingbi and the centre at the JKK House Ilupeju on Ikorodu Road said there were no serious hitches while the exam lasted.

They said the computers functioned well and also no power failure.

They thanked JAMB for organising the mop-up exam for them, saying they almost lost hope since their results were cancelled with nobody communicating to them the reason after the release of the general results in May.

They, however, said though some of the questions were a bit difficult and the two hours duration for the four subjects combination was not enough, they were optimistic that they would pass the exam and gain admission to their chosen institutions.
