She's planning to sponsor him to further his studies and start work over there.

Traveling out and getting into wealth does not mean the guy will dump her. What makes her think whoever she leaves the guy for would still not dump her? Those points are the more reason why she should stick to the guy and stand by him. That same guy might make it overnight and she'll be shocked.
