Jesus is all round omnipotent saviour. He can save you from anything. Primarily, He can save from Sin, He can save from Sickness, He can save from Satan, He can save from God's wrath/judgement against sinners, He can save you from Self, He can save from Society, He can save you from subtle sinners.
He can also save someone here from being vain. frivolous and naughty.

Now that the wannabe atheists and intellectuals are out (or cooling off), can we continue this discussion in the fashion of the topic without distraction?

@Precap2,
An interesting area in chick farming, go to India and bring chemicals that would help you raise soft chicks in 3 weeks. You'd be rich in no time. That's all I can add for you.

please throw more light on the above statement, must d chemicals be bought 4rm india? do they hv side effects?
It can also be bought from Holland and other countries.
The side effect is that the chickens grow big fast but with soft bones. They die fast if you don't sell them off or kill and process them for coldroom storage, but they're good chickens. No human side effect, except that my grandma who's used to home-grown chickens believes that one doesn't equal her prima in taste.

I'm not saying he should drink to his friends death but jeorpadising a wedding ceremony they planned for months probably is foolish and speaks volumes of this person.
Besides slapping a female is totally unacceptable to me and I have no respect for any female abuser.
But it was the gal and her family than canceled the wedding. If they were more reasonable they should have talked encouragingly to the guy. I know what it means to lose a dear one and I know you do.

I'm sure he must have done it befor yet she went ahead.
Just get ready to work,
To learn how to manage his emotional instability
To protect your unborn child from suffering or becoming violent especially if male
To love him into a caring father and husband
To share him with his friend
To learn a bit of self defence
To plan a safe escape for you and your kid(s) if he persists
All these for just a single slap. And she never said it happened before.
You're a man, go back and read the posters initial post and tell me or us
exactly how you would have felt in the same circumstance concerning your
best friend.

Five days to wedding is enough time to overcome shock. What if the news came on the wedding morning?
The husband didn't call off wedding, it was poster and her family that made the entire mess. My family won't do such rubbish, not in my lifetime.
She never felt anything for the man, or how could that vanish overnight? I just got married so I know that if love was there at all, it couldn't have vanished like that.

The list you referred to might be this: Balarabe Musa, Abubakar Umar, David Tam West, Wole Soyinka, Femi Falana, Late Gani Fawehinmi, Agbakoba, Fashola, etc.

I might not have a dossier on them but I'll ask around. But. . .
1. Balarabe Musa was the first impeached governor in Nigeria (if I remember well, I could be wrong). He was governor of Kaduna state. The list of his sins then were read to him and he found it difficult to clear his name of any wrong doing and was impeached. And that was when Naija was not playing this kind of dog eat dog politics.
2. Abubakar Umar was a MILAD (I'm not so sure now) but if he is who I'm thinking about, then all military boys that became rich stole from our coffers. I intend to keep this generalization until proven wrong.
3. Wole Shoyinka. . . hmmmmmm, wait till I have more facts. His case is as twisted as he is.
4. Femi Falana and Gani Fawehinmi are in the same business, using NGOs to make money abroad without spending it on the purpose. That doesn't sound very honest to me. I would have specifically mention a $200,000 issue concerning Late Mr Fawehinmi but. . . hey. . . speak no evil of the dead.
5. Agbakoba can wait till later, but. . .
6. Fashola built the biggest house in his family in Surulere after he became governor. You need to see this house and questions will begin. I was shown the house when I was around town and singing his praises like media men.

. . . More to come as I research.

Precap2,
Thanks for your advice. If you read my starter, I said I'd like to meet the trainer or helper physically and I don't want to buy any report.
Good you know that brother^. Now I don't think internet business is the best for anyone that want to start again from scratch, unless you say that ForEx is also internet business. Forex would have been the best for you but the time it takes to learn it well is so much. At least six months. If you put in less time, you make it up by losing money until you pay up for the gained time. I hope you understand. I do it 100% for a living and have done it for over 7 years now.
Now my advice: When my sister returned to Nigeria she was advised by an uncle who's also successful in his business to go into noodles and biscuits business. she started selling a brand of noodles (indomie) and a brand of biscuits (Yale) and today she's making a lot of money. Since you already have a shop/office space, look for a major distributor of such products and put in you entire money and strength into his hands, you might be lucky to come out with a lil credit allowance from him, and you're ready to go. Seek advice concerning this, only make a move.

Precap2,

I'm surprised that u don't believe there's reward for hard work but like u said we'll leave it for another day.

Honest here means without cheating, stealing or any unethical means of earning an income. I know u understand me but u want to make an academic issue out of it. It's about problem resolution and not a parliamentary issue where arguments hold sway. Pls suggest how we can measure it to be able to advise people after us to make this nation a better place. Our friends and relatives are running away to other countries where accountability is the order of the day. We should be able to initiate something here to better our society. That's the purpose of the research and discourse.
Did I really say there was no reward for hard work? Forgive me if I did but I think what I said was equating reward for hard work with wealth. I still don't think they mean the same.
I am hardly academic in my approach to things, so your charge of academic doesn't apply, only that I've seen discussion that would have otherwise produced useful results degenerate to endless definitions because terms were not defined from beginning.
Since you're talking about honesty and hard work in terms of wealth, may I inform you that your definition of honest thus: (Honest here means without cheating, stealing or any unethical means of earning an income.) basically excludes every living rich human I know all over the world. You can give me just one example and all will be well.
Please don't give me a rich man from any religious book, we can't research them.

@poster
You canceled your wedding ma'am, not your man. You were obviously insensitive to his suffering, and your bad manners was obviously learned from your family. You family showed a grave level of immaturity. As for your man, he was suffering terribly and I don't blame him for the lethargy that set in upon hearing the news of his best friend's death. I couldn't have done what he did in the circumstances, but you should have known him well enough to know what could get him in that way. Marriage is not just about sex and babies. You were in a hurry to get pregnant, like you're in a hurry to cage him.
You also seem to have plenty advisors in the fashion of "jennykadry" who only selfishly think about themselves. All she wrote is clean testimony that her man would be in real deep shyt getting along with her.
Don't bother asking us whether you should return to your man, you already have his baby and both of you have consummated the marriage before planning for the church. There is no option here. The only advice I have for you is to stay away from advisors in your family once you're with him. Things might go far wrong if you don't take this simple advice.

OMO IBO:
While I have no beef whatsoever with people wearing whatever they feel like, I feel Islam is slowly but surely gaining grounds in liberal communities and countries.

I got to understand a few weeks ago that the sharia Law has been adopted in parts of the UK. Ok, fair enough it only has powers to rule on Muslim civil cases. But honestly, it is beginning to look like one rule for some people and something else for others. Surely, this can't be right.

How these women get by in banks, schools and other high-security risk areas is beyond me.

A biker will be denied the chance to fill his tank if his helmet is on. He won't even get a look-in at the banks.

Again, i've got no beef with Burka's and/or whoever decided to wear them but there's got to be one rule for everyone or at least some sort of compromise.
Women who wear burkas are not expected to have bank accounts or enter high security area where faces must be identified. But if they are, then someone has to see their "beautiful" faces.
Whatever anyone says, this is crime against womanhood.

My fellow Nairaland Members, I want to start a poultry after school as a second means of getting my money knowing fully well that its a good means of getting money.

I want to know if N60,000 will be enough to raise up a hundred birds that's including all expenses such as feeding and medical.

Response will be appreciated.
Have you constructed your poultry house or is it part of the 60k?
Do you have source of water or is it part of the 60k?
No need to ask questions anyway, we run a family poultry and I can assure you without meaning to frustrate anyone that 60k won't do. Get some more money.

If you were to publish a research paper to show reward of honesty and hard work, what yardsticks would you use to measure this in Nigeria? I'm involved in one and I have headache figuring out who got their wealth genuinely.
Problem started when you equated reward of hard work with wealth. But that is for another day.
Can you define what you mean by honesty and hard work please. And don't find it simple as this would be the real catalyst that would produce fruitful result for your research.

The Bible says in Isaiah 9 vs 6: For unto us a Child is born, and unto us a Son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulders, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
If you refuse to worship him, then one day you'll have some regrets.
Note also that it is written: At the name of Jesus every knee shall bow.
Finally, I hear you're a wannabe atheist (whether it is true or not I don't know unless you tell me), that's very good. I don't know the extent of your knowledge but if I engage you in that regard, it might be the most interesting and life-changing chat you ever had. When I was younger I also tried being one and read hundreds of books. Then I read philosophy(major) and psychology(minor) in the University and chaos was complete.
Look to Jesus for the salvation of your soul or better still, read the Bible side by side most of those books that interest you, only read them all with an open mind.

Let me see if I understand this: people consider women wearing the burqa dehumanizing towards women but are alright with young girls wearing skirts so short, you can easily see if the curtains match the drapes? undecided I can't believe people are looking to criminalize modesty; where exactly is the world headed? If Muslim women have to lose the burqa/hijab, strip nuns of their habits. What's good for the goose, is good for the gander, right?
I personally don't like women wearing miniskirts, but it's a different thing to force them (through strong moral persuasion with threat of punishment) to wear long skirts. My baby likes knee length skirts and it fits her better than magzi. Do I ask her to continue to wear ankle length skirts? BUT THESE WOMEN MUST WEAR THIS SINISTER BURKA.
It takes a lot away from their humanity. If you feel happy passing your neighbors for 10 years without knowing them, I don't. Simple.
