This song has kept on lingering on my mind for five months now so I have to sing it here. "Parents listen to your children, we are the leaders of tomorrow. Try to pay our school fees, and give us SOUND EDUCATION" The above is the original version of the song. Without conscious modifications, I saw myself singing the song with these lyrics. " FG listen to ASUU, We are the victims of this strike, try to pay their demands and give us SOUND EDUCATION" Education, undoubtedly, is the best thing that has happened to humanity. It adds all other thing just like the biblical kingdom seeking. "Education is the greatest legacy" is a worn-off cliche whose veracity still can never be challenged. Wherever Education goes, it carries along civilization, liberation, transformation e.t.c. It is needless to say that America's world dominance is as a result of their insatiable quest for knowledge since it is a well known fact. America continues to prioritize education. I recently read about the K-12 reform agenda implemented by Obama's administration to make education affordable to every American regardless of the "political-social-academical-religious-racial" status . Did you shake your head for Nigeria? Nigeria seem to be the direct opposite of America. I wonder what Jonathan's frequent visit to America is all about. Of course, I am sure he would ask the president who his suit's designer and furniture supplier are. But to ask questions on issues of national interest is an aberration, a taboo. ASUU STRIKE Another Song? Yes. Let me borrow styl plus' beat " Five months on the stike, dem still dey carry go ASUU no waka. FG self no say no" Why do Nigeria leaders lack administrative skill. As in settling of issues before they become crisis. ASUU's five month crisis has affected the student abysmally. Imagine, a student whose parents have struggle to pay the child rent fee but without their son using the room. This strike action has dampen the morale of the leaders of tomorrow. It is evident that the nation has nothing whatsoever for our youth , no one cares whether the strike is called off or not. But for the selfish political ambition of our leaders, especially for 2015, this strike would have been the longest in the history of humanity. Do they have children studying in Nigeria? How does the strike affect their share of the national cake? Yes, We the children of the poor masses. We that no one cares what the future hold for us. We whose parents have no wing for us to perch on to the top. Yes we are the victims. We are the proverbial grass that suffer when the proverbial elephants fight. We who can not afford studying overseas. There are few things that kill a man dampen a man's spirit like frustration. This strike has frustrated many of my friends. I never envisaged it could be this long, neither did any. But here we are. Why are these mediocres-turned-leaders slowing down our journey to a hazy future? The future does not old any hope nor the realisation of such in this nation. I am not a pessimist but I must be awaken to reality. There is no job anywhere for anybody in our green-white-green nation. And age is not our side. I knew a brother who, after finishing his secondary at age 18, struggled so hard to huzzle for money by working in a beer parlour. At age 25, he got his admission to study his dream course- thanks to FOCUS. As if the school's slow programme was not enough delay, ASUU struck in 2009. You remember the strike? This brother was above THIRTY before bagging his bachellors degree. He was outrightly rejected anywhere he went to since he could not meet the requirements: Applicants must be below age 28. Must have at leasta Masters degree. And 5 years working experience. Tell me How one can have a working experience when no one is ready to offer him/her a job. The brother is a barber now. Girls are not smiling either. Imagine a girl that finish school at may be thirty. We all know her chance of getting a husband, at least a good one, is a little far from impossible and no guys is ready to marry a liability, a deficit, an illitrate. Why should one waste the resources and time to study, when at the end one will still learn the work one had rejected in the past? After ruminating about these, I can boldly say that Nigeria Education Sector is a discouragement to the quest for knowledge!!! Thanks for the platform for expression. LONG LIVE NAIRALAND! LONG LIVE THE STUDENTS! LONG LIVE NIGERIA[NS!] |
Why should I like a girl who is making things up? |

He is not only good with his feets, he is also good with his mouth. Here are some of his WOW quotes:- "Money is not a motivating factor. Money doesn't thrill me or make me play better because there are benefits to being wealthy. I'm just happy with a ball at my feet. My motivation comes from playing the game I love. If I wasn't paid to be a professional footballer I would willingly play for nothing". Lionel Messi "When the year starts the objective is to win it all with the team, personal records are secondary". Lionel Messi. No gainsaying, Messi is the best player in the history of football.
