Every man or woman has the ability to dream. We all have dreams to be someone great in life but not everyone actually achieved the reality of their dreams. This is due to the fact that there are some enemies that stand on the way to your visions in life limiting you from ever achieving your true purpose in life. I present to you these enemies that hinders you from achieving your vision; 1. Fear Fear is having faith in the impossible, while faith is daring the impossible. Fears dwell on all that could go wrong while trying to achieve your dreams it never looks at the possibility of success. Fear puts a restriction on your moving forward towards your vision its gives you 101 reasons why your plans, purpose and vision would result in a total failure. In other to tackle this enemy you would have to limit the kind of information you listen to or accept in life. 2. Discouragement Many visions have been aborted due to discouragement. Whatever you start in life demands patience and perseverance. If you cannot cope with it you would be highly discourage and disappointed. You need to motivate yourself by believing that your constant pursuit of your dreams will come to reality. Due to the fast rate by which the world wants to get things done quickly has made many not to be patience enough about their visions and so make them discourage. 3. Procrastination This enemy is also a great damage to our nation as well. Procrastination is the delaying of action until a later time. A man apply for a job and it take a year and more for him to receive a call for interview or appointment letter. Our leaders procrastinate things too much teaching the citizens to rely on this dangerous enemy. This enemy attack out of discouragement over a thing you have been pursuing for long it makes you give reason to delay it. Procrastination eats away our time and motivation. 4. Past Failures How many time did Thomas Edison fail before he was able to succeed? Has anyone ever asked themselves such question when you view your past failures. Many people refuse to take risk because of past failures. Failure is never a reason to stop trying, rather it provides another opportunity to achieve success. Many visionary we call great today achieved their success out of their failures. So don’t let failure haunt it but let it motivate you to do more. 5. The Opinions of Others ‘What would people say’ too many people have thought before taking an action. Many ideas have been shared with friends who have given them 50 reasons why it won’t work and has also criticize their visions. Well check out most celebrities; they make names out of criticism. If you are afraid of criticism then you don’t intend to achieve success in life. When you change plan to suit the ideas of your family, friends and business associates you are heading for a big failure in life. Remember that man wants to see result before they can believe in your dreams and encourage you, so do not trust others opinion whether friends or family to work for your good they can often turn against you and destroy what you have been working all your life to accomplish. 6. Distractions This enemy has been use to divert the dreams of many great people with great potentials the world need. For instance a man is meant to achieve great success in discovering plants for medicinal purpose but because he sees himself as a graduate, he would prefer to carry his certificate searching for jobs everywhere. Instant gratification rather than delayed gratification has allowed many to be distracted from their dreams. Many have fixed themselves in different activities in life that they don’t know it serve as a distractions towards their goals actualization. For you to tackle distractions you have to engage yourself in self-discipline. 7. Success This is when you complete a task and quits because you think you have arrived. This enemies is a big killer of dreams to many Nigerians – a man with a car, house of his own, wife and children, a constant job with better pay and pension scheme would think he is successful and doesn’t need anything else. Many Nigerians achieved success being an employee not knowing they can be an employer of labour. You need to leave your so-call success and create a bigger one. If you are not satisfied where you are deep down in you, then it means you are not living your dreams no matter how successful you are. 8. Tradition Have you had the statement ‘we have never done it that way before’? Just like distraction, traditions plays a role in killing vision. It makes one to do things the way it has always been done. Tradition does not permit new ideas, it interfere with the conventional way of doing things. You should be an explorer not just a passenger in a journey! Tradition would tell you that there is no new way of doing things but the way it has always been done. Do not give in to this enemy but endeavor to use your imagination above every traditions in your life; then you would achieve greater possibilities in your life. 9. A Wrong Environment Environment plays big role in achieving our visions in life. A rich mindset cannot become rich in a poor environment. You can’t take a fish from water, put it on land and expect it to survive. It is said that bad company corrupt good character. Many dreams have been destroy because they have been shared with the wrong set of people. You cannot share a rich dream to a poor dreamer, it would definitely look bigger than him. Neither can you have a good and bright intentions and be in bad company, you would eventually think and act as they do. 10. Comparism This the final enemy to your dreams and I would say that parents often fall in this category. Comparing a successful child to one who isn’t yet successful. It is good to run your own race many are busy running the race of others because of comparism. This tendency to compare often produce discouragement and false pride. Every individual is made for a particular purpose and for a particular dream, when you began to compare your skills and abilities you forfeit the opportunity to achieve great in life. Enjoy Life! |
Power failure is one of the biggest challenge facing this nation that it seem difficult to overcome. A lot of fund has been pump into the power sector yet it can’t boost of an achievable progress of power which can be comparable to others Africa nation. Because of this Federal Government decides that only through privatization of the sector would the power sector achieve transformation. Having transform the sector from public to private Nigerians can speak of which has achieved success. Last year circulation was place through television station and radio media informing the public of the state that due to some technical problem there would be sharing of electricity in Niger State. This has slowly creep to other state and it has now become a routine with no apology or reason why the sharing has become constant. What baffle me is that, as power is been shared from six to eight hours why isn’t the bill share as well? Bill collectors of PHCN comes to your house and demands that you give them the exact payment they have been collecting from you – is that not stealing from their consumers! Why should Nigerians pay a huge bill for something they are not using to its full potential. Bills are been passed according to the level of your house not according to the electronic gadgets found there. For instance a two bedroom flat would be giving a bill of N3800 to N4000 while that of a self-contain apartment would be charge the fee of N3000-N3500 or less depending on how beautiful the house is irrespective of the content of the house within. Then imagine what would be the bill of a duplex or mansion. The PHCN officials said it is according to the meter reading but I doubt it as a compound filled with different apartments and has its own meter are still giving the same bill whereas the electrical content inside the house isn’t the same. Who are Nigerians paying this exorbitant bills to? Is it to the power sector that keeps promising us a constant power supply or to some gullible politicians who wants to get rich at the expense of the masses. Electricity is been shared but the bill isn’t! Nigerians need to wake up and say NO to the overpriced bill given to every household that uses electricity. If the power sector cannot supply us with full electricity supply why should they demand for full bills. Would it be a proper thing to hand over a six to eight hours bill to PHCN? Let’s take a trip to the Middle East – Saudi Arabia and Israel (Jerusalem) to be precise. You would discovered a lot of religious monuments that has a historical meaning. From the Middle East let’s move to the European continents – Greece, Rome and Italy, you would also discover religious memorials that would make your journey an eventful one. It is said to boost your spiritual enlightenment and to bring you much closer to your creator. The secret of it also is to boost the economy of the nation involved because you are seen as a tourists not just a Pilgrim. When you visit these nations you are either given the name JP, Alhaji and Hajiya. A prove of this is found in their glittering gold teeth which comes with a sense of religious respect among family, friends, relations and the society at large. But what impact has it done to our social and economy development? Nigeria is among the nations of the world that record the highest in pilgrim sojourners. Every year a huge numbers of people take a trip to the ‘Holy Land’ either sponsor by the government or individual. Among the nation yearly budgets is that of Pilgrim exercise which many has lobby to be part of the benefit whether they have been in the country before or not. Some don’t even mind taking a trip every year even at the expense of those who have never gone there. It is known historically that religion supports development. Its initiates peace, unity and create a sense of belonging among the people. Those who are attached religiously to their belief would definitely not want a distant relationship with their creator it is said that ‘sin’ hinders such relationship. Today in Nigeria we have witness thousands of her citizen taking a journey to the ‘Holy Land’, we have also witness more than a thousand running to the church altar for a dedication or rededication or relationship with their creator. On Fridays we have seen road been blocked to restrict the movement of cars and pedestrians in other for prayers to be offered. These people are those we find in all government offices of the nation many are political and leaders. They hold big offices and key positions in the country and yet things are dead in their hands. They can revive their spirit but they can’t revive their nation. Can a man be spiritual incline and his environment is like that of a ruin and deserted land? What profit would it be for us to boost that we have the world record of being the most religious people and yet we top corruptions in the world. It appears to me that the pilgrim visit is made for fun and not for religious purpose because if it is truly for what it is meant for it should tell on our nation development. This is due to the fact that the monuments we see where done by those who supported peace and development they left behind memories that is meant to guide us and give us a positive belief that we too can do it. Nations that are fast growing today are not those who are attached to some kind of religious beliefs or spend huge amount every year for their citizen to go on pilgrim rather their utmost focus is for the nation to reached its full potentials, these are nations we spend much to go on vacations to enjoy this potentials that we can bring to our nation. If we have so many religious people in this nation and yet corruptions lingers and most governmental offices are dead then I think the nation need to cut away budgets for religious travels. Religion is now like a club to many. In many offices we found leaders who belongs to a religious groups or worship group yet this are people who would request for a bribe before they can offer any help. These are those who would embezzle billions of naira meant for the development and for the safety of the citizen for their selfish purpose. They are those who have denied opportunity to many Nigerians killing the dreams of many. Their hearts are so cold that I wonder if there is any softness in them at all. Yet we find them in religious gathering as head and title bearers. I would say Pilgrim has not played a positive role to our economy at all it has been a waste of public fund. If it has not played any positive role to our social and economy development why should the exercise continue. What do you say to this? Let’s Talk Nigeria! hadizakk@gmail.com |

1. Rich people think selfishness is a virtue Average people feel they need to save the world and put others before themselves which is keeping them poor. Rich people take the attitude that if they don’t help themselves first they can’t help anyone else. 2. Rich people have an action mentality You wouldn’t see a rich person lining up to play the lottery (even before they were rich). Average people are always waiting on someone else to help them get rich - the Lotto, Government, friend or spouse – but it only keeps them poor. Rich people take action and spend time solving problems. 3. Rich people favour specific knowledge over formal education Average people believe the road to riches is through doing masters and doctorates. Rich people are generally rich because they have made money selling a specific knowledge they have acquired. 4. Rich people dream of the future Rich people spend a lot of time looking into the future, setting goals and looking forward to what lies ahead. Average people dwell on the past which often holds them back by making them unhappy or depressed. 5. Rich people think about money logically Average and well-educated people can fall into the trap of thinking about money emotionally and just wanting to retire comfortably. Rich people maintain a logical relationship with money viewing it as a tool that represents options and opportunities. 6. Rich people follow their passion Oprah Winfrey said it – you’ve got to follow your passion and do what you love. Rich people find a way of getting paid for doing something they love. Average people earn money doing things they don’t love. 7. Rich people aim high Average people set low expectations to avoid disappointment whereas rich people set huge expectations and follow their dreams. 8. Rich people believe you have to “be” someone Average people on the other hand believe you have to “do” something to be rich and focus on immediate results. Rich people continuously focus on bettering themselves and learn from success and failures. 9. Rich people use other people’s money Average people believe they need their own money to make money whereas rich people have no problem using other people’s. 10. Rich people live below their means It seems contradictory to the above statement but rich people adopt the attitude of getting rich so you can afford to live below your means. Average people live beyond their means. 11. Rich people teach their children how to be rich Average people teach their children how to survive whereas rich people teach their children from an early age about the world of haves and have nots. 12. Rich people don’t let money stress them out Average people do. Rich people find peace of mind in wealth and are not afraid to admit that money can solve most problems – allowing them to make more money. Average people see money as a continuous battle and necessary evil they have to endure. 13. Rich people would rather be educated than entertained Average people are the opposite. They read novels, tabloids and entertainment rather than continuously educating themselves after school. 14. Rich people surround themselves with like- minded people Average people think rich people are snobs and have a negative attitude towards the super rich. Rich people steer clear of the doom and gloom attitudes and people – adding fuel to the fire of the “snob” label. 15. Rich people focus on earning Average people focus on saving and miss big opportunities by trying to live frugally. Rich people constantly focus on the big picture – and how to earn the big bucks. |
