Even if CBN is defending Naira with our reserve, why should we encourage speculators to drag our currency to a terrible rate by stroking fear?
Don't they understand the poor that don't have money to trade dollars will suffer the most?
I am surprised a so called Activist like Aisha Yesufu is acting like a bitter soul. That lady Aisha whatever was actually encouraging people to keep on speculating against naira. You see the grouse people have against obidicianries? |

What exactly do you want? It was almost $1 to ₦1 in the 60s, when are you asking when Tinubu will make it 1:1? He is an Obidienciary. They're in serious pain. They expected naira to be #2000 to a dollar. Imagine the idiot saying APC said #216 to a dollar was too much so it should go back to #216. |

He wouldn't have been able to stand up to the northerners who were in firm control of the forex business like Tinubu. Somebody who neglected his people and instead headed up north to give them boreholes with his name boldly written on it. He's afraid of northerners political might while Tinubu is doing the right thing closing some of their illegal BDCs. |

Have you ever heard of fixed scores in football matches by Europeans ? I bet n have played that before n cheated out of my money.
No de let all this European brain wash you about being righteous. This act is wrong no doubt but it is everywhere. So that makes it right for the Kenyans to make a mockery of their sports so openly for all to see. That Chinaman is number 77 in the world. It's like Barrow FC beating Man City, Liverpool and Arsenal in succession. Even in football the fixers are not that stupid. But some of you know nothing. I'll leave it at that. |

Kobojunkie: Interesting claim considering the latest dip in the reserves began about the same time that the Government claimed it had begun working on the Naira. And unlike previous dips previous dips on the same account which I assume went to serving debts, import needs, etc., this most recent dip has yet to level out even after almost 30 days. So, I am at a loss here when it comes to exactly what it is you are attempting to blindly argue. Well done. A dip of less than a billion dollars for a major importing country like Nigeria! Thank you for this chart. Argentina's own right now is at zero foreign reserve while Sri Lanka's own has fallen to $50m. Our own is still above $30bn. Less than $1bn and someone is saying " This deep depletion we keep seeing." You are doing well, carry on. |
Politics › Re: Keep Your Dollars Closer! - Aisha Yesufu by predictor1: 11:19pm On Apr 16, 2024 |
Kobojunkie: Leave debts unpaid, why? The Government has been paying off debts before all of this started so I don't see reason why the same activities would suddenly result in the deep depletion we continue to witness of the reserves. It doesn't make any sense given that the dollar has not changed much in all that while and the reserves are maintained in dollars. Which depletion do you continue to see? It rose in Dec Jan. Went down in March and suddenly it's "deep depletion we continue to see". Maybe you should explain why there's a convergence between the official rate and black market rate. |

Kobojunkie: So, amid the crash on the Naira, your government dug deeper into its reserves to settle debts, and cover import costs — all things it has almost always had to do before now —rather than engage in activities to sure up its currency? Ok, they should leave debts unpaid and ban all importations and every other forex obligations. Na you wise pass. |

Kobojunkie: What other possible reasons could exist for why the government would dip into the foreign reserves with the Naira at its weakest? https://www.cbn.gov.ng/ Because the foreign reserve is majorly used as a tool to cover import and export of goods. Nigeria is a major importer. So don't expect your foreign reserve not to go down or up due to demand. It's also used to settle debts. So expect it to even fall more when euro bond debts are settled later this year. |

This is bad advice if you bought dollars for speculative purposes. Naira will continue to rise against the dollar. Our petroleum products imports are no longer as high as when we would import and serve not only Nigeria but neighboring countries. We are consumer nation ...we don't produce anything to sell to the international community aside oil Mono economy doesn't help . Fir how long will govt stabilise the dollar. This is still a fairly new government. Let it get the basics right and let's see if other things will not follow. If you say there's nothing to praise here, did you not criticize them when the naira was dropping like a stone? What would you say about Argentina where the peso is losing value everyday and the foreign reserve is zero. Yet inflation is about 300%. This government is taking good steps right now. Kudos to them. What they need to tackle are the loopholes for corruption and the destructive bandits and herdsmen up north. |
