RomanceShakira, 45, 'very Angry' After Ex Gerard Pique Went Public With New Girlfriend by PremiumTech(op): 12:05pm On Aug 22, 2022
THE BUREAU | ENTERTAINMENT

According to reports, Shakira is "extremely furious" because her ex-footballer Gerard Pique made his new girlfriend Clara Chia Marti's relationship public.

Gerard, 35, and his new flame, 23, were seen in a recent video shot by the Spanish media outlet Socialite.

According to the website, three months after Gerard's breakup with Shakira, 45, Clara and Gerard were spotted appearing to kiss at the Summerfest Cerdanya festival in Catalonia.

The Public Relations department at Gerard's company, Kosmos, is where Clara is rumored to work.

Gerard and Clara have been seeing each other for months, a source told The Sun. She is a student who also organizes activities for him in his office.

Although they have been keeping their connection a secret, everyone in their immediate vicinity is aware of it.

People have helped him keep the affair under wraps, and they deleted Clara's social media accounts so that no one can locate pictures of her, they continued. His friends conclude that he is truly serious about being with her based only on that.

In June, Shakira and Gerard declared the end of their 11-year union. Milan, age nine, and Sasha, age seven, are their two boys collectively.

'I am excited, it is apparent that there is a relationship,' host Laura Roige said in the narration. I've witnessed a lot of affection, but Shakira will be severely upset since this is a new side of Gerard Pique. With the singer, I have never witnessed him acting like this.

According to them, Shakira is "extremely unhappy" because she witnessed the father of her children in public with his girlfriend.

They allegedly agreed to refrain from seeing their spouses in public for the first year following the separation.

For more details, MailOnline has gotten in touch with Shakira's representative.

Shakira and Gerard are reportedly attempting to maintain their friendship for the benefit of their children despite having a rocky relationship.

Following reports in Spanish newspapers that the couple was about to call it quits and that he had cheated on the celebrity, the separation was officially announced.

We regret to confirm that we are parting ways, Shakira said in a statement. We ask that you respect our children's privacy because it is our first responsibility to ensure their safety. I appreciate your cooperation.

The pair has reportedly been living apart for a few weeks since the pop star kicked Pique out of the family home, according to the Spanish publication El Periodico.

Sources claim that Pique has subsequently moved into a bachelor apartment where he is allegedly leading a "party lifestyle" and spending time with his teammates.

Despite the fact that neither partner has addressed allegations of infidelity, journalist Emilio Pérez stated: "(Shakira) has decided to separate. That's true. It has taken place.

"That is why there is separation," Possibly nothing remains, but that (infidelity) has passed.

The two met while filming the music video for her World Cup song Waka Waka the year before, and they had been dating since 2011.
That year, Piqué's team won the World Cup, and the final game featured a performance by his soon-to-be girlfriend.

Despite their correspondence in 2010, the two megastars' relationship wouldn't really take off until the beginning of 2011.

Shakira used her Instagram account to inform her followers that she was expecting the football star's son in the fall of 2012.

The couple went in for a second pregnancy just two years after the birth of their son Milan, and they announced they were expecting their second child, Sasha, who was born in 2015.

The couple openly declared that they don't intend to get married, but it hasn't stopped them from having a family.

The Spain international revealed to Gary Neville on a recent episode of The Overlap that he hadn't proposed because their relationship "works great as it is."

For tax fraud, Shakira may spend up to eight years in prison.

Authorities in Spain accuse the singer of falsifying tax records to show she lived abroad from 2012 to 2014 while, in reality, she was a resident of that nation.

When she lived with soccer superstar Gerard, who plays for the city, Shakira dubbed Barcelona home.

Shakira is rumored to be considering a permanent move to Miami and a departure from the nation where authorities are imprisoning her.

The $15.5 million in Spanish taxes that the Colombian superstar is suspected of dodging, together with nearly $3 million in interest, have already been paid back.

Shakira has consistently complied with the law and shown exemplary character as a person and a taxpayer, according to a spokeswoman for the singer. She has also dutifully followed the advice of PricewaterhouseCoopers, a renowned and well-known tax consulting organization.

CelebritiesTiktok Star Khaby Lame Granted Italian Citizenship After 21 Years In Italy by PremiumTech(op): 9:11pm On Aug 21, 2022
THE BUREAU | ENTERTAINMENT

https://i0.wp.com/thebureau.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/khaby-lame.jpg?w=1400&ssl=1

Khaby Lame, who was last year named the most popular TikTok user, has been given Italian citizenship after coming to the nation as a child from his native Senegal.

Lame, 22, who is best known for his amusing and wordless responses to online "life hacks," took the oath of citizenship on Wednesday, according to the local council in Chiavasso, a town northeast of Turin.

The meteoric rise of Lame to fame cast a negative light on Italy's stringent citizenship laws and the way the government treats the hundreds of other young immigrants who were either born in Italy or were raised there by non-Italians.

In response to the sudden spike in interest in the issue, Italy's deputy interior minister Carlo Sibilia tweeted on June 24 that Lame's citizenship application had recently been accepted. The message has since been deleted.

It is against the law in Italy for children born to non-Italians to petition for citizenship until they are 18 years old. This rule discriminates against the many children who are culturally Italian but are not granted citizenship, according to critics.

Lame told reporters that he felt "extremely proud" of his citizenship and "a big responsibility for the pledge" he took. Lame has also held onto his Senegalese passport.

"I didn't feel Italian before signing, but other than that, not much has changed," he claimed. But as of right now, I am legally an Italian citizen.

When asked how his life had changed as a result of his newfound TikTok fame, Lame remarked that while his family had been struggling financially when he was a child, they were happy. However, now, he said, "It's another reality, it's completely another world which I am still not used to, but I am gradually adapting."

...AS Abiodun gives the state party leadership a bus.

Sen. Ibikunle Amosun, the recently-resigned governor of Ogun State, may be questioned and investigated, according to hints that surfaced over the weekend when the state's All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership gathered and voiced their disgust about his outburst in Abeokuta.

Yemi Sanusi, the chairman of the Ogun APC, chastised the former governor for his remarks about the 2019 election, saying that such an outburst was not only inappropriate for a senator but also unworthy of a professed gentleman.

It was learned on Friday that the party leaders demanded disciplinary action against such anti-party conduct following a closed-door meeting with the leaders of the state's 20 local government units.

Senator Amosun was expelled from the party in 2019 for endorsing candidates opposed to the APC by the All Progressives Movement (APM).

Sanusi claimed to be the party's acting chairman in 2019 and proclaimed the current governor's election to be the most credible in the state's history.

He claimed that the majority of voters supported Governor Abiodun and opposed any attempt to alter their decision.

He continued by saying that the watchful and unyielding people of Ogun state foiled all underground plots hatched by the then governor to assure the victory of his nominee.

Sanusi assured Governor Abiodun that the party's State Working Committee had started mobilizing party members throughout the state's 20 local governments.

Further implying that the party in the state might look into the rigging claim made by the former governor, he noted that it was past time to look into the senator's anti-party activities.

Therefore, the party chairman urged the leaders and members to repay Governor Abiodun's humanitarian act by working hard to assure his reelection in 2023.

In the meantime, Governor Abiodun gave a bus to the state executive council in advance of the general election. He explained that this was done to improve operations before the general election in 2023.

He continued by saying that the gift was made in recognition of the party's enormous commitment to the expansion of democracy in the state.

Abiodun referred to the party's state executive as a partner in progress and said that the reason the party had managed to avoid a crisis in the state was because of the excellent leadership shown by those in charge of the party's business.

All hands must be on deck as the party gets ready for the upcoming election, he said, adding that the state government would continue to support the party to maintain its membership drive.

FamilyRe: Unusual Behavior Between My Step Brother And My Wife by PremiumTech: 11:59am On Aug 12, 2022
These signs are not good.

In order to find out the truth, just send an sms with the following sentence to both of them at once "He/She finally told me everything, I am surprised you could do this to me".

Then watch their responses.

Make sure you do this while you are with your wife so that if the man later calls your wife to find out, then know that they have been fvcking each other because you only used he/she in the text.

If your wife makes any reference to your brother without asking "who" then my man, just divorce her asap.

Good luck!

The DHQ claimed that Idris Abdulmalik-Omeiza Idris (also known as Bin Malik), Momoh Otohu-Abubakar, Aliyu Yusuf-Itopa, and Auwal Ishaq-Onimisi, rather than Idris Ojo, were responsible for the church attack in a statement released by the defense spokesperson Jimmy Akpor on Wednesday.

A Boko Haram terrorist who escaped from the Kuje prison, Mr. Ojo, he said, had no connection to the attack in Owo.

Idris Abdulmalik Omeiza was the mastermind of the terror attack on the Owo Catholic Church as well as the attack on a police station in Adavi LGA, Kogi State on June 23, 2022, during which a policeman was killed and weapons were carted away, according to preliminary investigation, according to the defence chief.

The Defence Chief also cited the capture of Idris Ojo, a 32-year-old terrorist, who was captured on August 7, 2022, in Ayetoro Osi, Ondo State, thanks to the combined efforts of military and DSS officials. Idris Ojo was one of the alleged ISWAP terrorists that escaped from the Kuje Medium Correctional Center on July 5, 2022, according to the CDS.

The 39-year-old Jimoh Ibrahim, a supporter of the terrorist organization, who hosted Ojo, was also cited by the CDS as having been arrested with him, the man added.

Five people were killed in a Friday shooting at Royal West Africa Ceramics Company in Ajaokuta.

The attack happened around 8 o'clock, according to a statement from the police.

According to reports made available to The Bureau, the attack claimed the lives of one Indian expatriate, two police inspectors, and two company drivers.

The police reported that the inspectors perished "in the exchange of fire with the hoodlums, before the Area Commander and a local military detachment reinforced to the scene of the incident, and the attackers escaped."

In order to make the State a safe and secure place for everyone, "The CP emphasizes that the Command is committed to working in cooperation with other security agencies as well as patriotic stakeholders.

He has also given the State Criminal Investigation Department's (SCID) deputy commissioner of police the job of starting inquiries into the regrettable incident in order to identify the root of the attack and its immediate causes in order to bring those responsible to justice.

After three police officers and five vigilantes were slain in an ambush last month in the Ajaokuta region, the governor, Yahaya Bello, suspended a traditional leader and questioned the district's political leader.

Although no group has taken responsibility for the attack, violence has increased in Kogi recently.

The bombing of a police station in Kogi's Okehi area in June by jihadists from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), who were not from their normal base in the northeast, resulted in the death of a police officer and the destruction of the building.

Three police officers were killed in an attack on a police station in the town of Adavi in April.

ISWAP, which broke away from Boko Haram in 2016 to emerge as the leading jihadist organization in the area, claimed responsibility for both attacks.

A recent jailbreak near the Nigerian capital Abuja carried out by the gang resulted in the release of hundreds of prisoners, including 64 jihadist commanders.

SportsSuper Falcons Yet To Receive Payment Weeks After WAFCON by PremiumTech(op): 9:52pm On Aug 04, 2022
THE BUREAU | SPORTS

By Raphael M.

https://i0.wp.com/thebureau.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Super-Falcons.jpg?w=1023&ssl=1

The Nigerian team is still awaiting payment from the National Football Federation (NFF) and the Ministry of Sports for the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon) and other training camps that took place last month.

Due to unpaid bonuses and allowances, the Super Falcons skipped practice before their third-place match against Zambia on July 22.

In addition to victory bonuses for their three victories en route to the Moroccan semifinals, each player is owed nearly $10,000.

One team member claimed the players had been "told different lies," despite the NFF's assurances that the money would be delivered soon.

Before the match against Zambia, "they stated the money had been sanctioned and will arrive to us in a few days," the player told BBC Sport Africa.

"From there, it moved on to absurd justifications like incorrect account numbers and network problems. They plainly love to treat the women's squad like an unwanted kid, as seen by the lies and contempt.

"The Sports Ministry was typically eager to make significant announcements to mark our victories, but ever since the money issues began, they have been quite quiet.

"Can you imagine how they would treat one of their own daughters if she played for Nigeria?"

The NFF and the Sports Ministry have both been approached by BBC Sport Africa for comment.

Money for the team's pre-tournament camp in Abuja as well as $2,800 in daily allowances while they were in Morocco have been given.

Super Falcons players have not yet received money for trips to Austria and Canada, as well as a bonus for defeating Ivory Coast over two legs to qualify for the Wafcon finals, in addition to their win bonuses from North Africa.

After losing 1-0 to the Copper Queens, some players, who had feared they wouldn't get paid after the tournament, ended their protest. They then placed fourth.

According to an NFF representative who spoke with BBC Sport Africa on Wednesday, "the players should be receiving the money this week because it has been processed."

Nigeria, the nine-time defending champions of Africa, advanced to the final four of this year's Wafcon before falling to the hosts Morocco on penalties to earn a spot in the 2023 Women's World Cup.

Super Falcons have deja vu
The Super Falcons, Africa's most successful women's team, have twice participated in hotel sit-in demonstrations during previous Wafcons, so this is not the first time players have voiced their displeasure about unpaid incentives.

The first occurred in South Africa in 2004 following the victory of the West Africans, while the second took place in Abuja, Nigeria, in 2016, following their eighth continental victory in Cameroon.

After being eliminated by Germany in the round of 16 at the 2019 Women's World Cup in France, the players organized a second sit-in protest to demand the payment of unpaid salary and bonuses.

Each Nigerian player in Morocco is eligible for a daily stipend of $100 and a total of $6,000 for their two group stage victories.

The players can also anticipate $5,000 for winning the quarterfinal, although they were not paid the planned sums of $7,000 and $10,000 for winning the semifinal and championship match, respectively.

PoliticsThe US Ninja Missile That Killed Notorious Al-qaeda Leader Zawahiri [video] by PremiumTech(op): 4:11pm On Aug 04, 2022
THE BUREAU | POLITICS

https://i0.wp.com/thebureau.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Ninja-Bomb.jpg?w=1029&ssl=1

In Washington Two missiles launched at Ayman al-Kabul Zawahiri's residence killed the notorious al-Qaeda leader. However, images did not reveal any evidence of an explosion, and according to US officials, nobody else was hurt.

This suggests that the US is using the Hellfire R9X, a missile without a warhead that is thought to have six razor-like blades protruding from the fuselage and that slashes through its target without detonating.

The R9X first surfaced in March 2017 when al-Qaeda senior leader Abu al-Khayr al-Masri was killed by a drone strike while traveling in a car in Syria. Neither the Pentagon nor the CIA, the two US agencies known to carry out targeted assassinations of extremist leaders, have ever made this information public.

Photos of the car revealed a sizable hole in the roof, along with physically torn interior materials and metal throughout the entire car. The car's front and rear, though, seemed to be in perfect condition.

Hellfire missiles, which are launched by drones in targeted operations, were previously notorious for their huge explosions, frequent collateral damage, and high death tolls.

Since 2017, a few other carefully focused attacks have produced results similar to these.

When information about the unknown weapon emerged, it was given the moniker "flying Ginsu" in homage to a well-known kitchen knife commercial from the 1980s that promised clean cuts through aluminum cans while maintaining a razor-sharp edge.

The missile, sometimes known as the "ninja bomb," has emerged as the US weapon of choice for eliminating terrorist group leaders while minimizing civilian losses. It appears that Zawahiri experienced this.

According to a US official, Zawahiri was alone on his balcony at his Kabul home on the morning of July 31 when a US drone unleashed the two Hellfire missiles.

The structure appears to have had windows blown out on one floor yet the remainder of it, including the windows on other stories, is still standing in apparent images.

Although present in the house, Zawahiri's family members "were purposefully not targeted and were not harmed," the official claimed.

The person continued, "We have no indications that civilians were harmed in this strike.

Remember when Charlyboy had made hints about divorcing Diane Oputa, his wife of 45 years?

The outspoken musician used his Twitter account to express how tedious his marriage had grown.

He pondered his followers' reactions if he announced his return to singledom.

He defended his decision to get a divorce by saying that it became harder the longer he stayed because marriage isn't simple.
A admirer gave him marital advice in the comment area of his video.

Politics2023: Tinubu Considering Oshiomhole For DG Campaign Role by PremiumTech(op): 7:29pm On Aug 03, 2022

Inside information from the All Progressives Congress party (APC) to THE BUREAU has it that Tinubu favours Adams Oshiomhole as his Director General campaign.

Oshiomhole has been very vocal and in the news lately.

He has taken the driving seat in defending the APC flag bearer, Asiwaju Tinubu.

Bola Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State and APC national leader, traveled to Edo State on Saturday to canvass delegates in preparation for the party's presidential primary.

Before the party's primary election, Tinubu informed newsmen that the purpose of the visit was to enlist the support of delegates and leaders. He added that he went to see Oba Ewuare II, the monarch of Benin, to ask for his royal blessings and to advise him of his plans to run for president in 2023.

Adams Oshiomhole, the former national chairman of the APC and ex-governor of Edo State, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Pius Odubu, the former deputy governor of the state, Lawrence Okah, the state secretary of the APC, and Samson Osagie, the former minority whip in the House of Representatives, were in attendance with Tinubu.

A director-general has been chosen for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign committee ahead of the general elections in 2023.

This is according to Nasir El-Rufai, the governor of Kaduna State, who briefed the media on Monday following a meeting the APC governors had in Lagos with Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima, the party's vice presidential candidate.

The president Muhammadu Buhari and the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, would be briefed prior to an official announcement, he said, adding that additional posts in the council are being explored.

BusinessLikely Reason Why Mastercard Disabled Flutterwave & Other African Virtual $ Card by PremiumTech(op): 4:56pm On Aug 03, 2022
THE BUREAU | BUSINESS

By Raphael M.

https://i0.wp.com/thebureau.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/MasterCard.jpg?w=1920&ssl=1

Several African businesses announced over the last weekend that their customers would no longer be able to utilize virtual dollar debit cards for foreign internet purchases like paying for streaming subscriptions or making Amazon purchases. Flutterwave and Klasha were two of the businesses that suspended the card feature. Klasha is a Nigerian business that recently secured funding from American Express.

The fact that the disabled virtual cards are offered by Mastercard through Union54, a Zambian fintech startup, is one factor connecting some of the affected businesses (and consumers). Union54, a Mastercard authorised issuer in Africa who is only two years old, has quickly grown to become a crucial partner for the continent's fintech businesses. It secured $15 million more in initial capital in April due to Tiger Global, a US company, ostensibly as a sign of significant validation for the value it is producing.
A test for an African fintech star who is rapidly growing

However, the partnership between Union54 and Mastercard and its alleged importance to the continent's digital financial services ecosystem are currently undergoing their first significant test, which seems to be connected to an increase in fraudulent transactions on the cards they power.
According to fabricated internal memos in which Union54 complained that "there's been a consistent increase in fraud cases emanating from our Bank Issuing Number (BIN)"—the first four to six digits on a typical electronic payments card—fraud, in the form of frivolous chargeback requests, may have been the cause of the virtual card suspensions.

According to a Union54 letter obtained by Techcrunch, "During one of our discussions with Mastercard, they declared that never in their history had there been so frequent occurrences or cases of card theft from this location."

In a tweet on July 18, Union54's CEO, Perseus Mlambo, explained that the service interruption was caused by an ongoing examination of the business's compliance system. According to Mlambo, the audit was ordered by Mastercard. Attempts to reach Mlambo and Mastercard for comment were unsuccessful.

Some observers are not convinced by Mlambo's justification. A seasoned investor and board member of several African companies, Andrew Alli, tweeted, "No need to stop down operations to perform such an audit."

The impacted fintech businesses did not provide much of an explanation for their decision to halt Mastercard virtual card services, and they omitted any reference to a connection to Union54. Sudo, at least one other financial startup, assists businesses in issuing virtual Mastercard cards.

Users of Flutterwave's virtual cards, which could be accessed through the consumer app Barter, were informed that the service would be unavailable for "an extended period of time" owing to "an update from our card partner." In a message to subscribers, Klasha said that the termination would also "allow us to transition our card services to Visa," which would ostensibly give consumers "additional rewards."

Because of the central bank's escalating restrictions on naira debit card foreign currency transactions, virtual cards became common in Nigeria. Many consumers will be unable to complete foreign payments due to the lack of a date for when Flutterwave and others will restore the service, which will be detrimental to cross-border trade and financial inclusion.

The Arsenals, who had 69 points at the end of last season and placed fifth in the Premier League, are currently in the midst of a complete team revamp. They have signed Marquinhos, Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Matt Turner, and left back Olexandr Zinchenko to long-term contracts.

The Sun claims that the north London team is eager to get rid of surplus players before the 2022–23 campaign.

signing a record If head coach Mikel Arteta can recruit a new offensive player before the end of August, Nicolas Pepe is likely to be moved. For £72 million, they acquired the Ivorian from Lille in 2019. He played 112 games for Arsenal, scoring 27 goals and providing 21 assists.

Nuno Tavares has been loaned out to Marseille, while Bernd Leno is on his way out to newly promoted Fulham on an £8 million deal.

Additionally, the Gunners hope to make up to £50 million from the sale of five additional players. The team is still awaiting firm bids for players like Hector Bellerin, Pablo Mari, Lucas Torreira, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, and Reiss Nelson.

While on loan at Crewe Alexandra and Stade Reims, respectively, Folarin Balogun is anticipated to accrue valuable minutes.

At the Emirates Stadium, third-choice goalkeeper Alex Runarsson is similarly viewed as unnecessary.

After a preseason friendly victory over Sevilla by the score of 6-0, Arteta said he anticipates making additional acquisitions. He stated to journalists (via GOAL):

"If the market permits, we are still trying to do something else. You've also seen some movement during the past few days. We want to achieve the ideal balance and the strategy we envisioned at the outset. Whether or if we succeed in doing that is a different matter."
On August 5, Crystal Palace will host Arsenal to begin their 2022–23 Premier League season away from home.

Hector Bellerin, Nicolas Pepe, Pablo Mari, Lucas Torreira, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, and Reiss Nelson are among the 11 players who participated in last week's preseason tour of America whom Mikel Arteta is trying to get rid of.

Politics2023: Why I’m Opposed To Apc’s Muslim/muslim Ticket - Hon. Dogara by PremiumTech(op): 2:11am On Jul 30, 2022
THE BUREAU | POLITICS

https://i0.wp.com/thebureau.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Yakubu-Dogara.jpg?w=500&ssl=1

Yakubu Dogara, a former House of Representatives speaker, has declared that he and Christian leaders will continue to oppose the All Progressives Congress' (APC) choice of a Muslim/Muslim ticket.

He made this statement on Friday in Abuja at the APC Christian Leaders Summit.

Mr. Dogara, an APC member, is one of several Nigerians who have objected to the ballot.

Kashim Shettima, a senator from Borno, has been named as Bola Tinubu's running mate, according to The Bureau.

Mr. Shettima, a former governor of Borno, was chosen, according to Mr. Tinubu, based on skill and experience rather than on a person's religious beliefs.

However, other APC leaders, including Mr. Dogara and former government secretary Babachir Lawal, opposed the plan. They had said that they couldn't visit their constituencies to advocate for the pair in good faith.

The event's guest speaker, Mr. Dogara, claimed that Mr. Tinubu had made a serious mistake in picking a running mate.

He described the action as an unpleasant awakening that came sooner rather than later.

The politician claimed that the Muslim/Muslim ticket is a poor choice because it fosters inequity and division, which is detrimental to the public's desires for a successful and united country.

He also criticized the APC leaders for not being able to discern between Nigeria in 1993 and Nigeria in 2022.

Read his full speech below:

SPEECH DELIVERED BY RT HON YAKUBU DOGARA, GUEST SPEAKER AT THE APC NORTHERN CHRISTIAN LEADERS SUMMIT, ABUJA 2022 ON THE THEME, “RIGHTEOUSNESS EXALTS A NATION, BUT SIN IS A REPROACH TO ANY PEOPLE”, HELD ON FRIDAY 29TH JULY, 2022 AT THE NICON LUXURY HOTEL, ABUJA

Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. Proverbs 14:34

Protocols:

1. I consider it great honour and privilege to be invited as the Guest Speaker at this all-important August summit of eminent religious leaders and top-notch politicians from across all the States of the Federation. Permit me to start by profusely thanking all those involved in putting together this summit and all the delegates who have sacrificed time and their busy schedule in order to honour us with their presence, which we do not lightly esteem. I understand we are here to talk about our nation and how political choices may impact our faith and likely exacerbate the escalating parlous security situation and stymie our match towards an inclusive, peaceful and prosperous nation.

2. Not a few have expressed concerns about national outlook on all presidential tickets. Also, not a few worry that the debate was becoming corrosive, and of course, with this kind of spitting of bilious views into the political wind, there was bound to be lots of nerves in the air.

3. When we talk about a Muslim-Muslim ticket; God forbid that we should be understood to be objecting to Muslims or that we don’t want Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to be president. It is not about Senator Kashim Shettima either, but it is about what is right and what is wrong. It is about justice, fairness and equity. It is about Nigeria; it’s diversity and how it can be harnessed in an inclusive manner for the greater good of all of us. Be that as it may, some of us really wanted Asiwaju to be president because he has sacrificed much for our Party, the APC and for what he represents to so many people. So, our position cannot be against Muslims or Islam. That fact cannot be denied in any way.

4. But when it comes to choosing between the love and admiration I have for an individual and what is right and what I believe represents my vision for Nigeria, my choice will clearly be for the latter. After all, my rise to the position of Speaker was never going to be possible without the support of some Muslim members who believe that our diversity must be reflected in national positions for the unity, peace and advancement of our dear country. What gives me more hope about the Nigeria project is that there are many of our Muslim brothers and leaders who did not only warn the APC, but have had to call out the APC for adopting a Muslim-Muslim ticket which resulted into the Party ructions we are witnessing today.

5. In 2015, when we were called “janjeweed party”, my response was usually very simple. I could then say that, HE John Oyegun was the chairman of my party and my Vice-Presidential candidate was Pastor Yemi Osinbajo. We don’t enjoy that luxury anymore as the President, Senate President, Speaker and his deputy; Senate and House Leaders; National Chairman and the Deputy National Chairman; Presidential and the Vice-Presidential candidates are all Muslims, leaving the Christians with just the position of VP Osibanjo and Deputy Senate President Omo-Agege at that level in a Country whose population is fairly split between Muslims and Christians. Granted this scenario, can any God-fearing Muslim, Christian nay even the amoral and the atheist say this is fair, just and righteous? Does this represent the act of a just God? This is the real context of objections from the Christian community not just the Presidential ticket and the VP slot.

6. For me, it is a rude awakening and I am so happy it happened sooner than later. The very fact that they said we should not worry about a Muslim-Muslim ticket while a Muslim-Christian ticket gave them sleepless nights should make you worry the more. To worry about a Muslim-Christian ticket while counselling others not to worry about a Muslim-Muslim ticket is the very textbook definition of cognitive dissonance and an attempt at gaslighting gullible Christians. Truth must be told that anyone who is not bringing us together is consciously tearing us apart.

7. Furthermore, I do not want to speak to the argument that there is no Christian competent enough to be Vice-President because as we all know, that is hogwash. It only speaks to the need to deliberately exclude – whereas the need now is for inclusion.

8. The other funny argument in the media is the claim that without a northern Muslim on the ticket, elections cannot be won. The implications of that argument are quite unambiguous; Northern Muslims don’t vote for the South – even if the candidate is a Muslim like them – and, of course, don’t vote for Christians. However, nothing can be further from the truth. If you stretch this argument further, it may lead to questions such as, “if Muslims in the North don’t trust a southern Muslim for any reason(s), why should Christians in Nigeria trust a Muslim from the South and North?” These are the kinds of arguments I hate to engage in and which we must avoid if we hope not to injure the health of our Republic.

PoliticsInnoson Vehicles Sues Imo State Government Over N2.5B Debt by PremiumTech(op): 5:29pm On Jul 29, 2022
THE BUREAU | POLITICS

Nigeria's indigenous vehicle manufacturing company, Innoson Vehicles Manufacturing (IVM) has filed an over N2.5B lawsuit against the Imo State Government under the headship of Senator Hope Uzodinma over its failure to pay or service the debt of N2,547,666,435.00 (Two Billion, Five Hundred and Forty-Seven Million, Six Hundred and Sixty-Six Thousand, Four Hundred and Thirty-Five Naira) being the purchase price of the various IVM Vehicles including their parts which IVM manufactured, sold and delivered to the State Government but Imo State Governor or its government has refused and failed to pay same despite repeated demands and appeals.

The lawsuit which was filed by Prof Joseph N Mbadugha, SAN, FCPA of McCarthy Mbadugha & Co, the counsel to Innoson Vehicles coming against repeated attempts made by the Chairman of Innoson Vehicles Manufacturing, Chief Dr. Innocent Chukwuma OFR, to the Governor urging him to pay the company on the vehicles sold, and delivered to the State Government.

For the avoidance of doubt, sometimes in April 2021, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma invited the Chairman/CEO of Innoson Vehicles, Chief Dr. Innocent Chukwuma to the Imo State Government House, Owerri where they discussed and agreed that Innoson Vehicles would sell and supply various specifications of its brand of Vehicles to the State Government which includes, inter alia;

1. 70 units of Innoson 5 Seater double cabin pick-up (IVM Carrier) 4WD

2. 10 units of Innoson 5- Seater double cabin military pick up (IVM G12)

3. 10 units of Innoson 5 seater single cabin military pick-up (IVM G12)

4. 100 units of a complete siren with public addressing system, revolving light, and street police light;

5. 2 Units of IVM Ambulance Vehicles

6. 20 Units of IVM G12 MS11

7. 20 sets of B. Canopy

The above vehicles which were valued at over N2.5B ($6.3M) were supplied in good faith to the Imo State Government based on an understanding with the Governor which arose after a special request that Innoson Vehicles grant the State the favor of paying for the vehicles after deliveries to them and which request was granted and honored.

The special and privilege request granted to the Governor turned into a nightmare for Innoson Vehicles and Its Chairman after Chief Chukwuma had at various times through several visits, phone calls, messages, and submission of letters requesting payment appealed to the Governor and his conscience to make total payments or set up a payment plan that will offset the debt.

The inability of the State Government to pay the aforesaid purchase price of the vehicles supplied has resulted in Innoson Vehicles having difficulties in fulfilling its loan repayment obligations to Keystone Bank Limited and Bank of Industry. These Banks granted their credit facilities at the rate of 10% interest and other fees therein. More so, it has led to the loss of profit arising therefrom and the accruing interest.

It is also interesting to note that as of July 27th, 2022, the over N2.5B worth of vehicles supplied to Imo State Government in April 2021 under the leadership of Hope Uzodinma with a dollar value of $6.3M is now worth $3.8M. Even if the money is paid today, the value of the money has depreciated by over 40%.

It is therefore based on this premise that Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company Ltd has begun the process of recovering its debts against the Imo State Government by slamming a lawsuit of over N2.5B with an interest rate of 10% on the entirety of the sum claimed at the High Court of Anambra State, Nnewi Division.

Shakira, a popular singer, rejected a plea agreement in connection with tax fraud allegations and now faces up to eight years in prison.

The 45-year-old global superstar was accused by Barcelona prosecutors in 2018 of failing to pay the Spanish tax office €14.5 million (£12.18 million) for revenue received between 2012 and 2014.

The Spanish courts will now need to decide whether to have a trial and select a date based on her answer to the prosecution, both of which have not yet been determined.

The Colombian pop diva said earlier this week that she was choosing to go to trial rather than accept a bargain.

In a statement to Billboard, public relations agency Llorente y Cuenca said that Shakira "trusts her innocence and chose to put the problem in the hands of the authorities."

She allegedly deposited the sum she is said to owe with the Spanish Tax Agency and has no outstanding tax debts, according to the public relations firm.

After a three-year investigation, a Spanish judge this year concluded that there were "sufficient indicators" for Shakira's alleged activities.

The 'Waka Waka' singer is accused of committing six alleged tax offenses, and the prosecution is reportedly seeking an eight-year prison sentence if found guilty.

Isabel Mebarak Ripoll stopped paying taxes in Spain in 2012, 2013 and 2014, despite being required to do so because she has her tax residence here, according to judge Marco Jess Juberas.

In order to be with her longtime partner, Spanish player Gerard Piqué, Shakira relocated to Barcelona in 2011. Although the Bahamas were recognized as her primary residence from 2012 to 2014.

The couple, who are parents to two kids together, confirmed their breakup in a statement issued by the singer's management company in June. It said: "We are sorry to announce that we are splitting up.

"We ask that you respect our children's privacy because it is our top responsibility to ensure their safety. I appreciate your patience."
Following Shakira's revelation, one of her devoted fans wondered if the relationship problems between the couple were hinted at in the song "Te Felicito (I Congratulate You)" by Shakira.

The Columbian artist's first release of 2022, "Te Felicito," features the Puerto Rican rapper and vocalist Rauw Alejandro.

"To complete you, I broke into pieces/ They warned me, but I didn't listen/ I learned that your love is false/ It was the final drop that tipped over the glass," the song's lyrics read in translation.

The next song by Shakira is about an apology that "looks heartfelt," but is actually a "lie."

"I commend you on your acting; I have no doubts about it. Your script continues. That show is perfect for you, "The music goes on.

Since then, viewers have flocked to the music video under the impression that Shakira was using her most recent song to send'signals.

One asserted: "If I'm being completely honest, despite the fact that I'm a huge Shakira fan, I didn't particularly enjoy this song. Look at these lyrics, though. It would sum up her apparent predicament wonderfully if I had paid attention to it today.

"Something that accurately describes every emotion that can arise following a betrayal. I can only image how hurt she must have been, and also how brave she must have been to move on."

Politics"Rise Up And Demand For Change." - Peter Obi Urges Nigerians by PremiumTech(op): 9:12pm On Jul 28, 2022

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, has urged Nigerians to rise up and demand just change.
On Thursday, he made the call while bemoaning the nation's unstable power supply.

According to the presidential hopeful, Nigerians must now demand justice from their government.

The former governor of Anambra State stated in a series of tweets on Thursday that Nigerians should adopt best practices from around the world and demonstrate effective leadership.

Nigeria's epileptic electrical supply continues to be a source of serious concern, he stated. South Africa, the continent's second-largest economy, produces more than 50,000 megawatts of electricity and has a population of over 60 million.

President Ramaphosa had to announce an emergency situation and an intervention policy allowing private individuals or corporations to generate up to 100 megawatts without licenses because the government of that country was currently complaining about an energy crisis.

"Nigeria, the largest country in Africa with more than 200 million inhabitants, generates a pitiful 4000 megawatts, less than 10% of South Africa's, without announcing a power crisis or emergency.

"Nigerians should learn from best practices in global governance, understand what it means to lead with a focus on the needs of others, and stand up for real change. - PO"

The national electricity grid crashed once more, as The PUNCH revealed on Wednesday last week.

According to the Eko Electricity Distribution Company, the system breakdown happened at around 11:27 am.

"Dear clients, We regret to tell you that the national grid had a system breakdown at exactly 11:27 am on Wednesday, July 20. To find out what caused the collapse and to discuss a potential restoration schedule, we are in discussions with the Transmission Company of Nigeria.

The Disco posted a message on its Twitter account on Wednesday saying, "We will keep you updated on the situation.

As The PUNCH reported on June 13 that the grid had fallen for the fifth time in 2022, this was the grid's sixth collapse this year.

Nigeria's electricity grid had twice collapsed in March and twice more in April of this year due to the system's fluctuating power generation as a result of several issues, including gas shortages, problems with water management, and gas pipeline vandalism, among others.

According to The PUNCH, on April 8, 2022, the amount of electricity flowing through the grid dropped from over 3,000 MW to as little as 10 MW at around 21.00 hours.

According to the research, the grid had a second collapse on April 9, 2022, when the country's power system only produced 33 MW at roughly 1:00 a.m. after reaching a high generation of 3,281.50 MW at 0:00 a.m.
