There's been sharp rise in cases of frauds associated with estate lands in Abuja.

The cases are everywhere.

Here's how these fake real estate companies operate.

They send scouts out to look for fallow lands all over town.

Once they identify any, they will now contact their corrupt partners in FCDA, AMAC and AEGIS.

These corrupt government officials collect huge bribes and reproduce fake approval documents for these fake companies.

The companies will then bribe development control unit and law enforcement within the locality so that when anyone comes with complaints, they will frustrate the person until he or she eventually gets tired and leave.

These fake real estate companies doesn't stop there, they bribe Gbagyi youths and chiefs of the locality to help support them.

In all these, the Minister of FCT is not in the know.

Areas with most fake real estate in Abuja are Lugbe, Jikwoyi Extension, Katampe Extension and Airport road.

Worst is Jikwoyi Extension. There was never any allocation for mass housing in and around Jikwoyi or Jikwoyi Extension.

Buying estate lands around that place is at the detriment of the subscribers or buyers.

All the real estate thieves there are grabbing individuals lands.

No matter how long, houses in those fake estates would be marked and demolished.

Solution:

1. Request for Minister's approval from the government offices alone.

2. Ask individuals within the community about the history of the place.

3. Conduct background check about the company.

4. Runaway when you see haggard looking local security personnel or vigilantes guarding the property.

5. Get the company to sign an agreement for full refund in any event of legal trouble.

6. Request for original land use approval of the place before you commit money.

A 74-year-old man from Kogi State identified as Mallam Muhammad Awal, has married for the first time.

Awal wedded 45-year-old divorcee, Mallama Rahmat Muhammad, in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital on Sunday, August 28.

Speaking to journalists on why he had stayed this late before getting married, the septuagenarian said lack of money discouraged him from approaching a woman for marriage.

"I have always been afraid I might fail in my duty of care to a spouse if I married and it is something I fear and don’t want to joke with. I am also afraid of separation from my spouse. I know if I fail to take care of her, she might either leave me or cheat on me with another man, which I would not like. So, to avoid all of that, I dismissed the idea of marriage altogether. But now, Allah has made this a reality." he said.

On whether he has ever approached a woman to proposition marriage before, he said; "I have... Many. This was when I was much younger. Many of them looked down on me, mostly because of my financial status. But I thank God it is in the past."

On what attracted him to his new wife and whether he would sire children with her, he said;

"Apart from the fact that she is beautiful, she is also down-to-earth, understanding, religious and rooted in the marital institution. Only Allah knows if we are going to have children. You never know what the Almighty can do. It is not in our hands, but His hands.”

On her part, Rahmat said that it was destined that they would end up as a couple.

"Allah has a reason for bringing us together and my prayers is for him to bless us and give us peace and understanding in our home." she added.

An alleged scheme by the Simon Lalong-led administration to establish an emirate in the area sent Yelwa, a hamlet in the Plateau State's Shendam Local Government Area, into disarray on Friday.
Numerous teenagers engaged in rioting over the rumors vandalized Long Goemai of Shendam's palace.

In the melee, other stores and structures were also looted.

The development was a major topic of debate among locals, who took to neighborhood-focused Facebook pages, WhatsApp groups, and other social media sites to criticize the administration.

Lalong has plans to do something controversial, according to social and political expert Plangkat Milaham. To gauge the public's response and choose whether to move further or not, he discloses the information. (POLI 101).

“The Government wishes to put it on record that there has never been any time that such idea was contemplated or even discussed. To say the least, this is the imagination and machination of mischief makers aimed at throwing the State into the dark old days thereby drawing the hands of the clock backwards and making nonsense of the peace we have achieved since the coming of the rescue administration ably led by His Excellency, Rt. Hon. (Dr) Simon Bako Lalong, KSGG,” the statement read.

Plateau, a predominantly Christian state, has a sordid history of ethno-religious strife.

While relative normalcy has returned to Yelwa and environ, the government urged people to go about their normal business.

“Government hereby beckons on the general public particularly residents of Shendam Local Government to be circumspect and go about their normal duties by disregarding such dangerous rumours and providing timely information to security agencies to enable them act swiftly,” the statement added.

The recent tension in Yelwa comes as the government is still pushing back against public rage over the proposed public-private partnership with an Islamic bank to rebuild the Jos Main Market.

At the most recent meeting of the Nigerian Bar Association, All Progressives Congress (APC) vice presidential candidate Kashim Shettima claims he chose to wear shoes to "deliberately snub" the hostile crowd (NBA).

On Monday, the event took place in the state of Lagos. Social media users were enraged at Shettima's attire.

The Labour Party's (LP) nominee for president, Peter Obi, received the highest support from convention attendees.
Shettima said that a particular presidential candidate held meetings to "plot mischief" in a now-viral video footage.

The APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu's running mate did not specify what the alleged mischief was.

"I traveled to Lagos to attend the NBA conference. At the Eko Hotel, the NBA conference took place. The Lagos State APC state government provided the most of the funding, according to the vice presidential candidate.
They then relocated to Eko Atlantic City, which was Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu's brainchild.

"One of the presidential candidates paid his agents when I dispatched my recon team. As a result, they met for three nights to plan mischief.

"When I learned that the crowd was angry,... I'm a banker, and one of the top bankers in the world trained me. I'm a young Jim Ovia. I purposefully wore sneakers as a dig at them.

The Local Government Area (LGA) Elections held in Ebonyi on July 30 were declared invalid on Thursday by the Federal High Court in Abakaliki.
The All Progressive Party (APC) easily won the election, which was held by the Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC).


It happened throughout the state's 171 wards and 13 LGAs.

Due to the N1 million and N200,000 nomination fees for the presidency and councillorship positions, respectively, several IPAC members chose to boycott the elections.


The group then filed a lawsuit with the court with the case number FHC/AI/CS/151/2022 to have the results of the polls thrown out.

Justice Fatun Riman ruled that the elections were "null and invalid."


Mr. Riman called the practice illegal and undemocratic.


After the verdict, the petitioner's attorney, Mudi Erhenedi, praised the court for its "sound decision" in a press conference.


The LGA elections could not be held, according to Mr. Erhenedi, "without providing the petitioner with the exact laws intended to regulate the process."
There are other more flaws that do not comply with the Electoral Act of 2022 as Amended, he stated.


"According to the Act, state electoral commissions must follow the election's protocol when conducting elections in local government regions.


"My current position is that my clients sought access to this statute.


"We contacted EBSIEC, the House of Assembly, and INEC; however, none of them would send us a copy of the current law.


In such an election, "the law can lead any of the contestants to know when going within or against it," Mr. Erhenedi remarked.


Roy Nweze, the defense attorney, could not be reached for comment on the verdict.
Governor David Umahi, in response to the verdict, advised the state's law-abiding citizens to maintain their composure and conduct themselves calmly.


His Special Assistant on Media and Strategy, Chooks Oko, released a statement that details the response and made it available to reporters in Abakaliki.


"Our attorneys will review the verdict to decide the best course of action.


The statement continued, "My faith in the judiciary as the bulwark of justice and equity remains unshaken."

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) said on Tuesday that Julius Haruna, the director of its North-West zone, had passed away.

Last Wednesday, after scuffles with Ms. Muibat Abdusalam, another commission employee, the director passed away in his Katsina office.

Police are looking into the incident, according to a statement from Tam Tamunokonbia, the FCCPC's secretary of the governing board.

The Katsina State Police Command is in charge of Ms. Abdusalam.

However, he said that the FCCPC had established its own inquiry team to look into the circumstances surrounding the director's passing.

In order to ensure a fair, transparent, and credible investigation, Tamunokonbia said the board has also instructed the immediate, but temporary, relieve of relevant leadership and staff inside the commission.

He mentioned that Ben Nwoye, a lawyer and board member, had been chosen to lead the Independent Internal Investigation Panel looking into the director's passing.

He claimed that retired AVM Wakili Ahmed, a different board member of the FCCPC, had been chosen as the panel's co-chairman.

According to Tamunokonbia, the board ordered that members of the panel be chosen from among representatives of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment and the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation.

"The command has taken Ms. Abdusalam into custody at this time.

When appropriate, the commission will continue to make appropriate, thorough, and frank disclosures of information regarding any investigative findings and/or legal proceedings.

The FCCPC board secretary stated that "the commission continues to carry out its role, including throughout the North-West region."

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party in the elections of 2023, has declared he will transfer control of federally funded universities to state governments.

As a panelist at the 2022 Nigerian Bar Association's Annual General Conference, which took place in the Eko Atlantic City in Lagos State on Monday, the 75-year-old lawmaker from Adamawa made this claim.

This week's conference, with the title "Bold Transitions," got under way. It will last through August 26.

Atiku stated the Federal Government does not have unlimited resources while speaking on Monday during the panel discussion.

The only approach, according to him, is to create an atmosphere that is favorable for both foreign and domestic investors to invest in our nation's infrastructure, education, and electricity needs.

"I got into a fight with a professor at Federal University Lokoja. He claimed to have seen in my policy document my intention to devolve, or to hand back control of education to the states. What the heck am I doing?

"Do you realize, Mr. Professor, that the first group of our universities is owned by the regional governments? I asked. He replied, "Yes." I said, "Who will succeed the regional government?" The states, he said.

"I stated the kids you send to the universities in England and America are owned by...," the majority of the private sector. Why do you think we can't do it here, then? We lack the necessary funds.

Since February 14, the Academic Staff Union of Universities has been on strike in support of a number of demands, including enhanced welfare, the revitalization of public universities, and academic autonomy.

Since the professors put down their instruments, public tertiary university students have been absent from the classroom.

In 2020, ASUU started a similar nine-month industrial strike.

Even though the ASUU strike is still in effect, numerous politicians and government officials have been photographed abroad at their children's graduations from foreign schools. This development has drawn criticism from human rights activists and many worried Nigerians, who have called it insensitive.
