Some of us have returned, while others are planning to. brain54: |
NAHCO on the beat. GTCO is also doing wonders. MTN is moving its small body. E ku market. MMs will soon enter around 15:00 GMT+1. |
Lol first-time travelers are not difficult to spot. Trolleys are paid for at most international airports including George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Houston, Texas. Nigeria is not perfect, but all these are not unique to Nigeria. Also, I still used MMA a few weeks back, and no one forced me to use any “airport taxi”. You can always book an Uber ride before you arrive or after you’ve landed—your mode of transportation out of the airport is totally your choice. An Uber ride from the airport to places around Ikeja costs less than N10K, depending on traffic situation. |

Story for the gods. APR can keep drilling for crude oil.I exited from it two years ago, so I don’t care. However, UCAP is an efficient business, hence the moon is calling sooner or later. Agbalowomeri: |
If na you, wetin you go do? ![]() megawealth01: |
Africa Prudential Registrars. You should’ve known that by just understanding that all the money must be kept in-house. The venue of the AGM is Transcorp Hilton, and I’m sure that their bankers is UBA. I’ve been on their books for a long time, and I’m heavy there. That may be a factor. ogawisdom: |
UCAP you’ve done well today, but you can definitely do better next year! |
Chief Ema wants to eat out of the “riba”? Now I get your point of view. They may soon be pressured to list on the exchange as well. emmanuelewumi: |
Lol leave matter for Martyrs abi na Saheed? 20 -30 years from now, some younglings of today will be arguing like him about how Hitech has done a lot of major projects in Nigeria without knowing the backstory. GeeKudi: |
Yes they’ve been around beyond the 80s, but they became “the construction company of choice” during the Babangida era from 85-93. After becoming a public limited company with significant interest from the elite ruling class, you expect them to keep awarding contracts to themselves. Julius Berger got contracts without bidding when they were close enough to the government of the day as well, which is my position here. There are many verifiable, authoritative reports on that. If Julius Berger benefited from it, others can as well do. The best bet is for favoritism to stop altogether, not a few benefiting from corruption and then it’s an outcry when some others benefit. To add to that, direct contracting or sole-source contracts are allowed under Public Procurement Act (PPA) 2007. So if Hitech won the contract without bidding, does the awarding of the contract contravene extant law? emmanuelewumi: |
Ignorance is bliss. Don’t argue with the ignorant, my guy. chimex38: |
That’s the point if they fail to deliver, let them be crucified! But if others have enjoyed the same favor without complaint, Hitech can do the same in peace. What needs to be corrected is how no one will enjoy that favor to the detriments of others. chimex38: |
Firstly, you’ve not disproved the fact before you concerning how Julius Berger was indicted by multiple credible sources. Secondly, saying Hitech has no construction experience or expertise shows that you just started following happenings in the country a few moons back. So no more words for you. It’s the hard-at-learning type like you that politicians like. mikeapollo: |
You mean Hitech? Na Jagaban and Sons hand dey there. megawealth01: |
Argue with this. mikeapollo:
|
Exactly. They once prayed to the likes of Babangida. nosa2: |
The same favor that Hitech is benefiting now was what Julius Berger benefited from in the 80s and 90s which makes you think they’re a civil engineering giant. Is it right? No, but What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander! mikeapollo: |
Tsk tsk I have no further words for you. The democracy you’re practicing was not borrowed, your forebears have been practicing it from time immemorial. ppogba: |
All the common sense has been privatized. ![]() Agbalowomeri: |
If you don’t understand things, then you learn. Firstly, what you quoted is a full sentence, not a clause or an adjectival clause of assumption for that matter. Globally, government structure respond to changing population dynamics. Virginia redistricting is a recent one you can learn from. ppogba: |
“Kenyans speak the best English in the world, even better than the British!”—Delulu Ruto |
Well, the federating regional government structure was great, but it would’ve had to change at one point or another. The population of the country was about 45M-50M between independence and 1967, and the regional government was still effective to cater to the population. As the population exploded, the regional governments would’ve gotten further away from their peoples. Maybe each regional government would have needed more internal divisions (states or local administrative units). ayobama1: |
I don’t think that way. Singapore and a few other countries attained their independence after us and are doing well today. The major problem with Nigeria is the I-too-know mentality (over smartness), so no one (group) wants to be the biggest fool for the others. Therefore, all the efforts are just cancelling out one another. Religious influence is another major bane of the country as the versions (Europeanized Christianity and Islam) that our people practice are targeted to enslave the minds. We can definitely break free and self-organize ourselves. Hopefully, someday before it’s too late. megawealth01: |
He still better make we still have the feeling say na we we dey mint our own currency. megawealth01: |
Sope oti lo! ![]() Last last one president (like Tikulator) will just pocket (privatize) am at one point. megawealth01: |
Who go regulate am? megawealth01: |
I’m not of the opinion that it will dip after the markdown (I’ve expressed that here a few days back). Nonetheless, it’s going to stay behind GTCO after the markdown—that’s the stance I expressed above. Sunrisepebble: |
Its dividend qualification and markdown dates are coming tomorrow and Monday, respectively. It will fall back in line on Monday. ogoo4real: |
Are you a learner? That’s the result of corruption that we talk about. The driver was dispatched with an empty bus, but he must have decided to pick up passengers and make money off the company without investing a kobo in the business. Followers are corrupt just as the leaders who emerge from among them. Maxymilliano: |
Literacy simply means can read and write, not having a formal education or degree. |
