I don't think we need to restart further debates on this issue.
The FBI and US court thoroughly investigated all possible circumstances surrounding the matter and settled everything.
Both the sender, recipient, source of funds, activities, etc. were all investigated. None of them came up with all these lame stories and rationalizations that are being thrown up by people here who were neither party nor witnesses to the case.
Even the person at the center of it all did not come up with all these excuses and conjectures.

But we are Nigerians; a people highly talented with uncanny ability and capacity to manufacture incredible, outrageous, mischievous conspiracy theories on every matter or topic. We ignore all the facts and evidence and go for our fantasy conspiracy theories

You’re the one who doesn’t know how things roll in the U.S. Tinubu is a Black man, who was an easy target to convict and score cheap political point. Al Capone was officially confirmed as a drug gang leader, nothing of such was reported or confirmed of Tinubu apart from him forfeiting funds deposited into his accounts while he was on political asylum in the States. Don’t forget that he had already retired from ExxonMobil and was a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria at that time, so ~$400K (check the exchange rate in 1993/4) was not really a big money for his status and stature. I don’t want us to derail this thread. ✌️

You don't understand how the truly rich roll in the US. There's a reason why Al Capone was never convicted of drug crimes -- they got him for "tax evasion". Or why only two people in the Epstein ring have been convicted. The people you see on TV being busted are usually the little guys; the top guys maintain their distance from the product, and settle with the government through things like civil asset forfeiture.

But yes, we should say it: The man was never convicted. Too smart for that.

Most of those talking don’t know how these things work, and I avoided engaging with the topic since I’m not Tinubu’s spokesperson. It’s not uncommon for us to do peer-peer naira/dollar money swaps as people in diaspora, and it’s not every of one’s friend that one knows their “true sources” of income. Also, a friend can as well ask you to help them receive an inflow into your account if their own bank account has an issue or their daily or monthly transfer limits have been reached. As a friend whom you’ve related with, you may not think they’re into drugs and accept such a request. If Tinubu had been involved in the drug deals (and his account was not just used as a conduit without his consent of the deal), he would have been criminally convicted and jailed, and would not have just forfeited the funds.

I have known Tinubu since 1993 and watched him become Governor in 1999 after contesting against Sarumi of PDP.

We called him Jigibola and we posted his 'Tested and Trusted' posters all over Ikeja during the campaign.

Tinubu did not work with Osibanjo, infact Osibanjo being a VP was due to several factors- RCCG, Tinubu's wife and Pastor Adeboye.

He was not the primary person Tinubu wanted.

I maintain that anybody close the Tinubu politically must have a dent in his past or else he will not be comfortable working with you. Check the records.
