This is how some narrow-minded Governors mess up their states, just because of election, you refused a federal hospital, first of its kind in the SS, so that your opponents won't use it to campaign for votes. At the end of the day, the good people of Edo have sent you away. Obaseki must be regretting right now, no wonder he ran away from Edo before hand over date.

PoliticsTinubu Recounts How Obaseki Frustrated Establishment Of Obstetric Fistula Centre by PressMyButton(op): 7:11pm On Feb 12, 2025
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday recounted how the immediate past governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, frustrated the establishment of a National Obstetrics Fistula Centre in Benin City, the state capital.

DAILY POST reports that a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Fred Itua, made available to newsmen, said President Tinubu gave this account during the signing of a memorandum of understanding for the establishment of the centre in the state.

Tinubu spoke through the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Ishaq Salako, who led a delegation to the State Government House for the signing of the MoU.

According to him, in May 2023, just before President Tinubu assumed office, the National Obstetrics Fistula Centre was established in Benin City.

“The centre did not receive the necessary cooperation from the then government of Edo State, led by Godwin Obaseki.

“We struggled from May 2023 till November 2024 before you became the Governor of Edo State, but in about three months, we have achieved what we could not achieve in about 24 months.

“All thanks to your administration. We appreciate your support, as we have been able to secure a temporary centre to begin operations in Benin City.

“His Excellency has also allocated 24 hectares of land for the permanent centre. You have demonstrated that you are a political son of the President, who is prioritising healthcare at the federal level, while also doing the same in Edo State,” he said.

The President, who noted that fistula is a serious health challenge, added that Nigeria has the highest burden of fistula cases in the world.
He said about 12,000 cases of the disease are recorded annually in the country.

He further stated that fistula is not just a medical condition but also a social and psychological issue, as some individuals with the condition resort to suicide.

The President noted that the Federal Government has launched a free fistula management programme, which also provides social support and rehabilitation.

He disclosed that, as of today, about 1,700 cases have received free treatment, expressing hope that the programme will continue to expand.

In his remarks, Governor Okpebholo commended the President for transforming Edo State, stating that the people would continue to appreciate him for the various development-oriented projects he has initiated.

Okpebholo emphasised that healthcare is a priority for the people of Edo and that the centre would serve not only the state but also the wider South-South region and neighbouring states.

“The Chief Medical Director of the centre has been struggling for the past two years. This centre belongs to the South-South, but it is located in Edo, and Edo people will benefit from it.

“I have no excuse but to support the establishment of the centre. The hospital will commence operations soon, as the Edo State Government is committed to supporting it, and we thank the Federal Government for choosing Edo State,” he added.

According to the approved budget document, each of the 650 primary healthcare centres, health posts and the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital, Amaku got N300,000 budgetary allocation only.
N300,000 each for primary healthcare centers, is it for groundnut or for akpu?, God abeg o. Soludo can use their future to build hotels, they are not bothered because they don't care how their leaders fritters their resources, they don't even care what is going on there but they have all the updates about the government of SW states. They care more about SW bumper to bumper.

The state government identified the development of the 4-star hotel as one of the top 15 capital projects of the state for 2025.

A review of the Anambra State 2025 approved budget by SaharaReporters has revealed that Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration has allocated the sum of N15 billion for the development of a 4-star hotel in Awka, the state capital.

This is contained in the Anambra State 2025 Citizens Budget document signed by the state’s Commissioner of Budget and Economic Planning, Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake, and obtained by Sahara reporters.

The state government identified the development of the 4-star hotel as one of the top 15 capital projects of the state for 2025.

Meanwhile, SaharaReporters’ review of the 2025 Fiscal Appropriation Action of the administration shows that the state government allocated only a total of N195 million to 650 primary health centres, health posts and Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital, Amaku.

According to the approved budget document, each of the 650 primary healthcare centres, health posts and the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital, Amaku got N300,000 budgetary allocation only.

The N195 million allocated to the 650 primary health centres represents 1.3% of the N15 billion allocated to developing a 4-star hotel.

In December 2024, Anambra State celebrated winning the first position in South-East and overall best in Nigeria in the 2nd Edition of the Primary Healthcare Leadership Challenge Awards.

The state was awarded a cash prize of $1,200,000 by the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA) in collaboration with Aliko Dangote Foundation, the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and UNICEF.

A visit to multiple primary healthcare centres and health posts in Awka, the state capital, and over 10 other communities in the state revealed a severe lack of medical supplies, including essential items like drugs, syringes, and gloves.

Disturbingly, despite the state government allocating N15 billion for the development of a hotel, many of these primary healthcare centres and health posts are operating out of single-room gatekeeper houses at recreational centres, churches, and residential homes.

Many other facilities are operating in dilapidated and wrecked buildings, lacking essential services such as pharmacies, functional toilets, labour wards, and labour equipment, among other necessities.

PoliticsTroops Kills Over 50 Terrorists, Captures The Deadliest Stronghold In Zamfara by PressMyButton(op): 5:33pm On Feb 08, 2025
The Nigerian Army Troops of Operation FANSAN have achieved a major breakthrough in a series of encounter in the ongoing military campaign against banditry and terrorism in the North West of Zamfara State.

In one its Operation tagged FANSAR YAN BINDIGA, during a fierce battle, the troops neutralized over 50 terrorists and inflicted serious injuries on at least 25 others, including high-profile terror commanders loyal to Bello Turji and Sani Mai Nasara (Sani Black).

Among those killed were Kachallah Sanni Bammuwa, Kachallah Auta, Audu Gajere, Kabiru Jangeru, Dan-Gajere (son of Audu Jabbi), and Bako Malaika, a notorious terrorist operating around Tungan Dan Musa.

The successful assault marks the first time in years that Nigerian troops have been able to penetrate and dominate Tungan Fulani Hills, a location that had become one of the most dangerous terrorist fortresses in the Zurmi-Shinkafi axis.

Zagazola Makama recalled that five previous attempts by troops to access the valley had failed due to stiff terrorist resistance, resulting in casualties among troops and damage to military equipment.

The area gained notoriety following a deadly ambush in 2019, when Bello Turji and Sani Black’s fighters killed a Major and 16 soldiers who were en route to rotate troops stationed in Mashema village. After that incident, the military was forced to withdraw from Mashema District, leaving the region under terrorist control.

Similarly, on Aug. 30, 2024, Turji and Sani Black’s fighters launched another devastating attack on troops at Kwashebawa village, where they burned Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles and killed two soldiers.

Following the historic victory, Military Defense officials have vowed to sustain the offensive under the newly declared “ Operation Show No Mercy. “The mission is not just to push the terrorists out but to ensure their complete elimination.

“The time for hiding is over. Bello Turji, Sani Black, and their fighters must either surrender unconditionally or face total annihilation. There will be no negotiations, no safe havens, and no escape routes,” the sources said.

The recent success is also significant because Tungan Fulani Hills serves as a key route for arms smuggling from Niger Republic and Mali, as report indicated that Turji and Sani Black had been using the hilly terrain to store weapons, plan ambushes, and conduct kidnappings along major roads.

By securing the area, the Nigerian military has disrupted their supply chain and cut off their escape routes to neighboring forests.

Residents Urged to Support Security Operations
In the wake of the Tungan Fulani Hills offensive, security forces are calling on local communities to cooperate with intelligence operatives to help track down fleeing terrorists.

Military sources confirmed that troops have expanded their operations beyond Zamfara, targeting terrorist hideouts in neighboring states to prevent them from regrouping.

As Operation Show No Mercy intensifies, security agencies are urging communities to report suspicious movements and avoid providing logistics or shelter to fleeing bandits.

“The Nigerian Army, with support from the Air Force and other security agencies, is committed to eradicating terrorism in the North-West.

The fight is far from over, but we have sent a strong message that there is no safe place for terrorists in Nigeria.

“This operation will not stop until every terrorist camp is destroyed, every leader is neutralized, and every fugitive is brought to justice. The choice is clear surrender now or face total destruction,” a top military sources said.

With the military’s renewed momentum, the coming weeks are expected to bring further decisive action against terrorist networks in Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina, Kebbi, and Kaduna States.

PoliticsOkpebholo, Idahosa Hail Tinubu For Fixing Benin-sapele-warri Road by PressMyButton(op): 10:07am On Feb 08, 2025
Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State and his deputy, Dennis Idahosa, have commended President Bola Tinubu for embarking on the repairs of failed portions of the Benin-Sapele-Warri Road.

Okpebholo and Idahosa, alongside the contractor, inspected sections of the more than 30-kilometre stretch Benin-Sapele-Warri Road project and expressed satisfaction with the job done so far.

The Benin-Sapele-Warri Road is a critical artery in the socioeconomic activities of the citizens of Edo and Delta States. However, years before now, some portions of the road had remained in a deplorable state.

Okpebholo and Idahosa, who were full of praise for the president, assured Edo people that their administration will continue to monitor the progress of work and that the President will surely finish the project in record time.

“This is our president in action. Work is going on well as the contractors are rapidly making progress in fixing the road for the benefit of Edo people and motorists using the road. I can boldly say now that Edo is now Lagos and Edo is developing like Lagos State.

“Our deepest appreciation to the president for his unwavering commitment to ensuring Edo people enjoy the dividends of democracy. I am happy with this development and we will continue to come here to monitor the progress of work. The president is capable, and I know that he will continue to fund the project,” Governor stated after the inspection.

Levent Contractors, handlers of section one of the Benin-Sapele-Warri Road, said they are working on the critical aspects of the road, ensuring it is motorable.

He noted that the company is doing what is called continuous concrete rigid pavement to ensure the road is solid and can last for 50 years.

What are we saying, what's this one saying. If we import, what's wrong about it?. Importation has reduced significantly. Like someone asked you, tell us how much fuel PDP imported if e sure for you. yeye dey smell.

So why didn't PDP make the refineries work but chose to be paying subsidy to their cronies to import fuel while they watch the refineries rot away?. When refineries are not working, what do you think would happen to the pipelines that were not put into use?, won't they become dilapidated?. When PDP couldn't give us data of fuel consumption we consume daily but inflate the figures to collect money, are they not the ones that enmeshed the oil sector with Corruption?. Is PDP not the collaborators of oil thieves and vandals. APC is cleaning the mess you created for decades, so I expect you to sit down and keep quiet if you have any shame.
