PoliticsPeter Obi Was Packaged By The Elite, He Had 10 Suvs In His Convoy - Sowore by PressMyButton(op): 11:23am On Apr 22, 2025
During an interview on Noble Nigeria hosted by Noble Eyisi, Sowore explained his principled stance on not aligning with political godfathers in order to win power.

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) Omoyele Sowore has said he refuses to compromise his values for political gain, warning that Nigeria has become “a burial ground for good- intentioned people” where evil is more likely to thrive than virtue.

During an interview on Noble Nigeria hosted by Noble Eyisi, Sowore explained his principled stance on not aligning with political godfathers in order to win power.

‘Peter Obi Was Packaged by the Elite’.

On the subject of Peter Obi, Sowore was unflinching. He described the former Anambra State governor as a “packaged” candidate promoted by the elite to hijack the energy of the #EndSARS movement.

“After #EndSARS, the youth were ripe for power. But the elites knew they had to insert someone they could talk to,” Sowore claimed. “So they gave them Obi, and it was all packaging.”

According to Sowore, Obi is not the revolutionary some people think he is. Sowore also accused Obi’s supporters of waging an aggressive information campaign and using social media to silence dissenting voices.

“Obi was portrayed as the face of the youth struggle, but it was a tyranny of the minority,” he said.

“Even Wole Soyinka told me he almost fell for it up to a point. He said I was almost endorsing this guy. And then he woke up one day and his name was all over, and he said he was asking, what did I do wrong? What did I do wrong? It turns out they just picked on him for no reason.

And even though he didn't participate in the election, he became the most ridiculed person after the election. That was what got him upset. And he said, ‘Oh, if this is my last assignment on earth, I'm going to let people know who you people are."

Recounting his own encounters with Obi, Sowore shared personal stories of what he described as hypocrisy and stagecraft.

“When we were running for election, I noticed something about him. If Peter wants to take a private jet, he will go and enter through commercial place and greet everybody. You think?. And then they will bring a vehicle and put him to go to the private jet area,” he said.

He narrated how Obi would then switch to the VIP lounge for a private jet. “I was actually expecting that he was driving Innoson motors,” he said.

“Peter Obi had nothing less than 10 big Toyota SUVs waiting for him. And I was telling myself, why do you have to lie? So why do you have to cover up for this? Nobody's going to be upset with you that you are a presidential candidate if you have a convoy.

“But look at this trajectory, and that packaging is his style. And if you want to get away with finding out, then he'll send his people after you.” “I knew him and he knew that I knew him. But there were guys who were against him in those days who didn't have the courage to come out again, because they were afraid of the backlash, and they did a fantastic job of scaring everybody,” he said.

Sowore narrated how Obi once publicly praised him for helping him become governor, but later allowed his associates to smear him and novelist Okey Ndibe with false accusations.

“They printed posters in Anambra calling us gay partners,” he recalled. “That’s when I knew he endorses those rabid online attacks.”

“Information Warfare Worse Than Military Rule”

Sowore warned that the political atmosphere in Nigeria had become dangerously intolerant, comparing the media manipulation around Obi’s rise to tactics seen during the civil war and military rule.

“But there were guys who were against him (Obi) in those days who didn't have the courage to come out again, because they were afraid of the backlash, and they did a fantastic job of scaring everybody,” he said.

He added that many of the youth leaders from EndSARS had been co-opted or silenced, naming popular activists and entertainers who allegedly supported the elite’s plan

Politics2027: Our Loyalty Is To APC, Tinubu, Not Buhari - Farouk Aliyu by PressMyButton(op): 5:38pm On Apr 21, 2025
Ahead 2027 general elections, the crack in the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), one of the legacy parties that merged in 2013 to form the All Progressives Congress (APC), has continued to widen.

Tribune Online checks revealed that about 23 members of Muhammadu Buhari’s CPC bloc met on Wednesday in Abuja where they pledged loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and denounce moves of defection by certain members of the bloc who have since opened discussion with the Coalition led by former Vice president and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar.

Among those who declared to pitch tent with Tinubu included former Nasarawa state governor, Senator Tanko Al-Makura and the former governor of Buhari’s home state of Katsina, Aminu Bello Masari. Also in the group was former Minority Leader, Honourable Farouk Aliyu.

They were however countered by former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), who in a statement on Thursday, declared that the Al-Makura group could not hold brief for the defunct CPC bloc.

“When you say CPC bloc, one needs to know who they are referring to. Is it the likes of Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, Adamu Adamu, Masari and Faruku Adamu Aliyu who, a few months ago had been throwing Buhari under the bus, in desperate attempts to gain relevance that should decide for the bloc?” Malami queried.

However, speaking on Arise TV monitored programme, Morning Show, former Minority Leader in the House of Representatives, Honourable Farouk Aliyu, who claimed that power blocs no longer exist in the APC, declared that loyalty has since shifted to the new leader of the party and President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He also faulted insinuation that open indictment of Muhammadu Buhari’s administration by certain members of the present administration enjoyed the blessings of President Tinubu.

He said:”First of all, loyalty is to the party first because we belong to a party, APC is our platform and by the grace of God, the leader of APC today is the President! So, our loyalty is both to the President and the party.

“Now, as to whether the President is blaming Muhammadu Buhari for some things that had happened, well, you know in politics there are certain things that you can’t run away from.

There are certainly some people who will say some things but that doesn’t mean, …you haven’t ever heard the President in person said anything bad about Buhari or blamed him for anything that has happened.

What Nigerians should know is that what is the difference between Buhari and Tinubu? It is same party, same government. So, I want to assure you that there is no discontent between the two leaders.

For us that came from the root of Muhammadu Buhari, and now to Tinubu, from CPC to APC. It is a merger we had and we are APC now. So, talking about where we come from isn’t even tenable! We are conscious of what we are doing because certain members of our group are threatening to go.

“One of our prominent leaders left (referring to el Rufai), so we needed to clear, we needed to tell the public that yes, one of us have left but that doesn’t mean that all of us have gone
.

“In politics, you can’t stop people from doing whatever they want to do.”

The erstwhile chieftain of the CPC dismissed the allegation of marginalisation of members of his bloc by the present administration, submitting that the group dominated in the eight years of the Buhari administration.

He said: “I don’t know what you mean by our bloc. First of all, we are all APC and in the government of Tinubu, we have five members of the cabinet that are of CPC bloc.

Unfortunately, we have to start thinking of Nigeria as one people, one nation, one destiny. When President Buhari was in government, North-western part of the country where Buhari came from had ten Ministers, ten full cabinet Ministers, excluding Ministers of State! Nobody complained!!

Now, people are complaining about Tinubu. Let us begin to look at these things as Nigerians, let us give benefit of doubt to the leader. If it doesn’t work, when election comes, they can show him what he has done and why they won’t vote for him, not to go about insulting him. We should be civilized human beings and politicians.

The difference between us and the El Rufai group is that we already have a candidate in Tinubu whom we will rally round to continue as President.”

The former lawmaker equally dismissed as subjective, El Rufai’s scathing indictment of the present administration as the most corrupt in the history of the country.

“I think it is very subjective. If Mallam Nasir El-Rufai said Tinubu is very corrupt, APC is the worst government, when did he realize this? Is it because he isn’t a Minister today? This was the same gentleman who rallied round candidate Tinubu first, who insulted all Northern leaders because of Tinubu.

Professor Ango Abdullahi who signed the certificate of El Rufai at Ahmadu Bello University, as a leader of the Northern Elders Forum, he insulted him, calling all the Northern leaders, who are the elders? That he is an elder and that whether anybody likes it or not, Tinubu must be elected
.

God in His infinite mercy answered that prayer and call. Now he was promised to be a Minister and he didn’t become a minister. This is an elitist thing . All the members of the public know that it is about us the elite; when we lose out, we start screaming, because if Nasir were made a Minister, today he would probably be in the forefront of insulting others.

That he lost out, he can’t see it as an act of God. The same party that made you governor for eight years. All of a sudden, because you didn’t become a minister, you start insulting everybody.”

PoliticsObedient Movement Backs Tinubu, Collapses Structure Nationwide by PressMyButton(op): 1:01pm On Apr 21, 2025
The leadership of the Obedient Movement led by Alhaji Ahmad Abulfathi at the weekend decided to collapse its national, zonal, state, local government, and ward political structures into the Nationwide Tinubu Connect Associates (NTCA).

This major realignment came after a high-level deliberation held in Lagos between the Obedient Movement and Henry Nwabueze, the National Leader of NTCA. All 36 state coordinators of the Obedient Movement endorsed the merger, signaling their full integration into the NTCA structure to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election campaign in 2027.

According to a statement released by Ahmad Abulfathi, the movement views this collaboration as a step toward strengthening national unity and pushing forward the Tinubu administration’s developmental goals. The group stated its intention to back the president’s second-term agenda by channeling its resources and personnel through the NTCA.

Represented by the 36 States coordinators of the Obedient Movement, they all agreed to merge their structures at the various levels into NTCA to support President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

“In the spirit of fairness and unity, we urge Mr Peter Obi and other intending contestants for the 2027 presidential election to jettison their ambitions for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

We cannot afford to distort and discontinue these laudable structures of development courageously built by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu like removal of subsidy, local government autonomy, tax reforms, revival of refineries, student loans, establishment of ministry of livestock (to regulate the rearing of Cattle etc), establishment of regional development commissions, electricity reforms, increased GDP and foreign reserves, establishment of over 8,800 new primary healthcare centres across the country, upgrade of existing tertiary institutions

“It is simple. Go And verify, as Mr Peter Obi would fondly say.

We Nigerians are called upon to support the administration of President Bola Tinubu, despite these initial challenges being faced, no pain, no gain. Continuity is the intention and our sincere conviction.

In a show of solidarity, the movement has pledged to mobilize all youth and women leaders across the nation into the NTCA framework, which it now recognizes as a stronger and more inclusive platform to achieve this Nigerian HOPE.

“Sequel to this alignment agreement, the Obedient Movement will adopt the identity and operational direction of Nationwide Tinubu Connect Associates, to demonstrate its commitment to unity, progress, and national development.”

The way these Agunechemba boys shoot and kill people anyhow, I can't see any difference between them and the terrorists called ipob. I suggest that Soludo employ the services of DSS in the screening and verifying of employees into the outfit, leaving it in the hands of politicians could be quite dangerous. We have heard stories of prison facilities becoming a place where criminals plan Kidnapping and all kinds of criminal activities. Soludo should not make the mistakes of putting guns in the hands of armed robbers and kidnappers.
PoliticsSome Operatives Of Agunechemba Are Armed Robbers, Kkdnappers – Soludo’s Aide by PressMyButton(op): 4:47pm On Apr 20, 2025
The Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on community security, Chief Ken Emeakayi, has lamented the alleged infiltration of criminally – minded people into the state’s newly established Agunechemba security outfit.

Reacting to reports that some operatives of Agunechemba are now extorting people, using guns, Emeakayi said that every member of the outfit would be properly verified, to fish out the bad ones in the system.

He also warned about the improper conduct of some of the operatives who act as if they were above the law, adding that a situation whereby they extort people they are expected to protect, is unacceptable.

He said: “The reason the governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, established Agunechemba and Operation Udo ga achi, is to drive away criminals in the state. It is not for the operatives to start tormenting people they are expected to protect

“We have found out that some of the people work as Agunechemba during the day and become kidnappers and armed robbers at night.

“Some of the operatives claim that they have not been paid and that is because they have refused to present themselves for verification as required by law. They have been dodging from this verification exercise since January.

”Those who want to be paid should go for profiling to enable us know if they are actually members of Agunechemba and to ensure that they do not have questionable character.

“Very soon, anybody who claims to be a security operative in any community in Anambra State without subjecting himself to the profiling process, will be treated like a criminal because such a person has something to hide.

“The Anambra State Homeland Security law is very clear on the issue of knowing where every gun in the state is at any point in time and those keeping them.

We must know the full identity of everyone who claims to be a security operative in the state.

“We are, therefore, pleading that people should be alert and expose any shortcoming they discover on the part of the operatives.”

According to Emeakayi, people should not only report about suspected criminals, but also security operatives who aid criminal activities.

”People should speak out when they see operatives of Agunechemba misbehave. There is Agunechemba in every community, local government areas and at the state level. Once you notice any wrongdoing on their part, record the place and if possible, identify their vehicle and they will be dealt with according to the law”, he said.

PoliticsLP Disowns Datti Ahmed’s Undemocratic Remarks, Cries Out Over Gov Otti's Threats by PressMyButton(op): 7:24pm On Apr 19, 2025
The party also expressed concerns over what it described as direct threats from the Abia State Governor Alex Otti, warning that its national leaders may be in danger.

The Labour Party has distanced itself from recent statements made by its former vice-presidential candidate, Senator Datti Yusuf Baba-Ahmed, describing them as "undemocratic" and a potential incitement against Nigeria's constituted authority.

The party also expressed concerns over what it described as direct threats from the Abia State Governor Alex Otti, warning that its national leaders may be in danger.

In a statement issued on Saturday by its National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Arabambi Abayomi, the party said it was “astonished” by Senator Baba-Ahmed’s continued reference to the Tinubu administration as “questionably constitutional,” particularly during a meeting allegedly convened by Governor Otti and former presidential candidate Peter Obi at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, on April 9, 2025.

“For us in the Labour Party, this statement is clearly inciting and a call for mass action against a constituted authority,” Dr. Abayomi said.
“We think there should be a limit to whipping up public sentiments against a legitimate government.”

Quoting Baba-Ahmed's remarks from a recent interview, he said: “The appointments they are making are fake, the appointments they are making are illegal. The paraphernalia of government they are enjoying, destroying our country, spending our money is only for a little time.”

The Labour Party, which contested the 2023 presidential election and lost to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, said it accepted the Supreme Court judgment on the matter “not because we were pleased but because of the finality of the court’s judgment.”

“The party has since moved on,” the statement continued. “We expect every well-meaning Nigerian to realise the fragility of the nation and put politics aside to help move the country forward.”

The party cautioned against statements capable of inciting unrest, drawing historical parallels to the Arab Spring.

“The Arab Spring that rattled the entire Middle East started when leaders ignored subtle but persistent mobilisation of the youth. We must avoid a similar path in Nigeria.”

The party alsocriticised Governor Otti’s remarks at the same April 9 meeting, in which he allegedly said a “dooms day” awaited the Julius Abure-led leadership of the Labour Party and threatened to “fumigate” them out of office.

“As if the Labour Party is his personal company, Governor Otti boasted that Abure refused an offer of the Chairmanship of the Board of Trustees and that he was ready to fumigate Abure and his team out of office,” Abayomi said.

“We are warning that no harm should befall any of our leaders as a result of the imminent doom that the governor has threatened."

The statement further linked recent threats by NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, to similar pressure from Governor Otti.

“This threat is coming a few days after Comrade Joe Ajaero threatened to mobilise armed men to flush our leadership out of office,” said Abayomi. “We believe these threats are not coincidental. The NLC’s rascality is being sponsored by the Abia State Government.”

The Labour Party called on National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu to take urgent steps to ensure the safety of its national officers.

“We no longer feel safe. We have committed no offence except insisting on the rule of law and respect for party supremacy as recently affirmed by the Supreme Court,” the party said.

“We call on all security agencies, including the police and state security services, to beef up security around our leaders. The Abia State Governor should be held responsible if anything happens to any of our national officers.”
