Politics / Akeredolu Performing Constitutional Role As Ondo Governor by pressy011(m): 12:54am On Oct 21, 2023
Akeredolu performing constitutional role as Ondo Governor — Spokesperson
by Hakeem Gbadamosi October 20, 2023

Richard Olatunde, the Chief Press Secretary to Ondo Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu has
defended his principal amid calls for his impeachment saying the latter is still fulfilling his constitutional duties in the State.

Olatunde who disclosed this during a radio programme in Akure, monitored by our correspondent said Akeredolu has continued to advance the state’s development in all areas since his return to the country from his medical vacation in Germany.

The Governor’s spokesperson who dismissed the insinuation that governance had been grounded in crisis in the state stated that, “This is the narrative of some individuals whose self-interest continues to drive their sudden media advocate

“What do they mean by ‘in crisis’? The people of Ondo state can attest that the government is operational and effective. How can they claim the state is in crisis? Is development halted? Are various government departments not functioning?

“As of now, governor Akeredolu’s administration is constructing the first-ever flyover in Akure, the state capital. Notably, no government has ever built a flyover in the state since its creation.

“In the past six years, this is the second flyover under this administration. The impact of the governor and the government is evident through projects that enhance people’s lives.

“As part of the administration’s efforts to mitigate the effects of the fuel subsidy removal, palliatives are being distributed across the three senatorial districts. Governor Akeredolu’s government has adopted innovative approaches to distribute these relief measures.

“After the Governor’s return from his medical vacation, he approved the recruitment of 150 staff for the state Internal Revenue Service. The recruitment process began at the Public Service Institute (PSTI) in Ilaramokin, featuring Computer-Based Tests (CBT) starting on October 9, 2023.

“The Governor also approved the construction of tax stations in Ondo and Ikare, as well as a revenue court in Akure. Progress is already visible on these projects.

“Don’t forget that it was after the governor’s return that he signed the Local Council Development Area (LCDA) bill into law. He has also established a team to identify LCDA headquarters. Progress is being made on this front.

“In fact, after his return, the governor signed the 2023 Appropriation bill for the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) into law, following its passage by the State House of Assembly.”

Responding to insinuations that the Akeredolu is incapacitated, as previously claimed by the former APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, Olatunde stressed that an incapacitated governor couldn’t have received the current National Leadership of the party on a courtesy visit.

“Keep in mind that there are individuals still opposing governor Akeredolu’s roles in establishing Amotekun and advocating for a Southern Presidency. Consider these factors when evaluating these insinuations.”

He stated further that “Governor Akeredolu is not incapacitated. The Governor addressed this issue when he received the current National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

“The former Chairman, Adamu, didn’t contact the Governor during his treatment in Germany. It’s absurd to declare someone incapacitated without even attempting to communicate with them.

“The truth of the matter is that the Governor is fulfilling his constitutional roles. If anyone asserts otherwise, ask them what’s currently left undone in the state. Workers are receiving their salaries on time, and leave bonuses have been paid. Permanent Secretaries have received brand new SUVs as official vehicles. The state is thriving.

“Vulnerable individuals receiving palliatives and pensioners receiving additional N10,000 monthly alongside their pensions are experiencing the Governor’s presence. Those witnessing progress on the Flyover construction in areas like Shagari, Onyarubulem, and Irese road can feel the Governor’s presence. People in Sijuade in Akure, driving on rehabilitated smooth roads, are also experiencing the Governor’s impact.

“Market women and artisans, who benefit from regular salary payments and leave bonuses, feel the presence of the Governor. Consider this, how often do they see the Governor in person? They primarily feel his impact when there’s increased market activity and patronage.

“The Amotekun corps and other security agencies are functioning effectively. Free school shuttle buses are operating, and road construction is ongoing in the SIB-Alagbaka area. The construction of ultra-modern University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital complexes is nearly complete, with 250-bed facilities in Akure and Ondo.

“Those claiming that Ondo state is in crisis are merely motivated by their interests. Don’t lend credence to their statements

Outcome Of Ondo Assembly Election Affirms Unshaken Confidence In Our Administration - Akeredolu

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON has described the outcome of the March 18, 2023, House of Assembly election in the State as an eloquent testimony to the degree of acceptance of his administration by the good people of the State.

The Governor said the impressive performance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state is an unequivocal affirmation of unshaken confidence reposed in his administration.

Ondo APC under Governor Akeredolu recorded the highest percentage of votes cast (67%) for the APC and the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, nationwide.

The party also won all the three Senatorial seats in the state, cleared eight out of the nine House of Representatives seats, and won 22 out of the 26 State constituencies.

He congratulated the people of the state for the peaceful conduct of the House of Assembly election while saluting voters for voting for the candidates of their choice without rancor and violence.

Governor Akeredolu said the conduct of the people across political parties and interest groups has further shown that the sunshine state is occupied by sophisticated and responsible citizens.

The Governor noted that the outcome of the election is a challenge for rededication to service in the interest of the people. He assured his unwavering commitment to the service of the state and its people.

Governor Akeredolu also congratulated candidates of both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who emerged victorious at the House of Assembly election.

He noted that the People’s participation in the poll has further deepened democratic values. The Governor said electing lawmakers at the state level is crucial to the sustenance of good governance.

Mr Governor urged the 26 members -elect to allow the interest of the state and the people be their guiding principles.

According to the Governor, “Politics is merely a vehicle for service. Our service must now reflect the interest of the people devoid of political sentiments.”

“I congratulate our party, the APC, for a wonderful outing. Much as we savour this enthralling moment, the real victory belongs to the people and those who sacrificed their time and energy for the successful conduct of the election.

“Let me especially appreciate our people for listening to our voice and electing 22 out of the 26 candidates of our party, APC. We shall not relent on our mission to develop the state and deliver dividends of good governance. It is our belief that the welfare of the people should be the only justification for the existence of government.”

The Governor commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the security agencies and other stakeholders who contributed in no small measure, to the successful conduct of the election.

Business / Gov Akeredolu Frowns At Rejection Of Old Naira Notes By Traders, Artisans, by pressy011(m): 8:27am On Mar 09, 2023
GOV AKEREDOLU FROWNS AT REJECTION OF OLD NAIRA NOTES BY TRADERS, ARTISANS, OTHERS IN ONDO

•Says It’s Disobedience To The Law

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu Aketi,SAN, CON, has decried the rejection of old naira notes by a large section of traders and business owners in the state.

The Governor said the rejection of the old one thousand naira, five hundred naira and two-hundred-naira notes is a flagrant disobedience to the law.

Governor Akeredolu in a statewide broadcast on Thursday explained that rejecting the old naira notes will inflict and sustain a needless pain on the people and customers.

He noted that the matter of legitimacy and return into circulation of all old naira notes in the nation's economy has been settled permanently by the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

According to the Governor, the Apex Court had ruled that the old currency notes must remain as a legal tender in exchange of goods and services in the nation.

Governor Akeredolu appealed to the people to embrace and accept the old notes alongside the new notes as stipulated by law.

The Governor also commended Commercial Banks within the State for receiving and paying with the old notes.

He appeal to the Banks to increase the circulation of all currencies at their disposals and devise a more effective way to decongest the banks, especially at the ATM cash points.

“It is therefore of great concern to me today, that a large section of our people in the state, particularly traders in our markets, taxi and bus drivers, barbers, auto mechanics and artisans are rejecting the old naira notes thereby inflicting and sustaining a needless pain on their fellow citizens and customers. This is unfortunate and unexpected. It is a flagrant disobedience to the law and the Central Bank directives.

“I, therefore, wish to inform you that the rejection of the old one thousand naira, five hundred naira and two-hundred-naira notes by us will do us no good. It will stifle our local trade and business transactions, weaken our economy and cause us great harm and avoidable troubles.

“I hereby use this opportunity to appeal to you all, my good people of Ondo State, to embrace and accept the old notes alongside the new notes as stipulated by law. Let us not create a needless tension over the matter. Please collect, spend and exchange the old notes without let or hindrance.” He said.

The Governor urged all media organisations in the state, as well as all traditional rulers, community leaders and opinion molders to assist Government in educating the people, especially at the grassroots on the need to embrace and accept the old naira notes.

His words:”It is imperative that I address you today because of the need to halt a self-induced pain currently being experienced by us all in the state. This is on account of the circulation and use of the old naira notes in our economy.

“Credible information reaching me indicates that quite a large number of residents of the state are denied the use of the old currency notes issued by the Central bank of Nigeria.

“This comes in form of rejection of the old notes as legal tender and means of exchange for goods and services particularly by traders, artisans, transporters, farmers and a large percentage of the operators of the informal sector of our economy in Ondo State.

“This development is unfortunate, undesirable and uncalled for. This is because the matter of legitimacy and return into circulation of all old naira notes in the nation's economy has been settled permanently by the Supreme Court of Nigeria and also backed up by the appropriate instruments of implementation by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

“Our people will recall that the Apex Court, in its recent judgement had among others, ruled that the old currency notes must remain as a legal tender in exchange of goods and services in the nation.

“For avoidance of doubt, the judgment ordered that both the new and old notes should not only coexist but be accepted and used side by side by all Nigerians until the end of this year when the proper elimination and substitution of the old currency notes would have been completed.

“The implication of the Supreme Court judgement is that it removes the daily pain, discomfort and trauma being faced by the people of this country occasioned by the scarcity of the new notes.

“It is also geared towards ensuring stability, strength and vitality for our economy, particularly the informal economy which involves, on daily basis, the largest number of our people at the grassroots.

“If we may recall that from the onset of the Federal Government’s policy of Naira swap, our position as a state, was clear and unambiguous. We not only condemned the idea and process of implementation of the policy, we also canvassed for its total abrogation, given its timing and methodology.

“We insisted on the need for the Federal Government to resolve the introduction of the cashless policy in favour of the common man. We did this because we believe the fundamental objective of Government must be to see to the welfare and security of the people at all times.

“It is not to inflict or add more to their pains. We believe the people must be happy and free to live their lives legitimately without any pain, discomfort or trauma.“

OUTCOME OF PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION REFLECTS THE WISHES OF ELECTORATE -GOV AKEREDOLU

•Says Committees Have Been Set Up To Meet Aggrieved Presidential Candidates

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, CON has said the outcome of last Saturday’s Presidential Election was a reflection of the wishes of the electorate.

The Governor described the election as the freest ever held in the country.

He spoke to newsmen in Abuja at the International Conference Centre, venue of the presentation of Certificate of Return to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as President-elect and the Vice-President-elect, Senator Kashim Shetima.

The Governor disclosed that a Committee of Elders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) would soon begin to meet with co-contestants of the President-elect in a bid to assuage their loss in the just concluded Presidential Election.

He stressed that every aggrieved person will be met for reconciliation.

"The President-elect has set up committees to meet with the gentlemen who contested in the election for us to start the healing process. I belong to one of the committees. We are going to meet them and appeal to them so that we can work together.

"This is an election that was not padded. People who voted were counted, that is the way I see it. It’s not one which shows millions of votes. You can see the candidates, everyone won 12 states each, it has never been like that before.” Governor Akeredolu said.

The Governor, while describing the massive votes recorded by candidates of APC in the Presidential and National Assembly Elections in Ondo State as attestation to the love of the people for his administration, expressed happiness that his people willingly supported his clamour for a Southern President after President Buhari's two-term tenure.

"Ondo People are progressives and we will always at least be on the side of progressivism. From the onset we are at the forefront of clamour for a Southern President and so we have to put everything we had into it and we got support that is why we are able to make it". He said.

Hurrah! It’s Six Years of Akeredolu’s Purposeful Leadership

The administration of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON is six years today. It is the second anniversary since he was re-elected for a second term as Governor of Ondo State.

The last six years have been filled with monumental development and phenomenal achievements across the three senatorial districts of the state. It has been a story of success, redemption and progress.

A dispassionate summary of Governor Akeredolu’s administration depicts positive development in virtually every sector in the state since February 24, 2017 when he first took oath of office. The testimony of his dedication imbued with inexorable courage and visionary leadership abounds.

On assumption of office, Governor Akeredolu readily acknowledged that the tasks before him were daunting, but surmountable. His belief in promoting good governance was his inspiration. His eyes were gazed at enduring legacies for the people of the sunshine state.

The Governor recognised that the economy of the state was driven by the civil servants . When he assumed office, the workers were being owed seven months salaries. It was a tale of frustration and despondency. Productivity was absent at every work station.

Irked by the worsening situation, the Governor vowed that his administration will always promote and prioritise workers’ welfare. He specifically promised to pay workers’ salaries as and when due. It was a great relief for the state civil servants.

In no time, he offset six out of the seven months salary arrears. Today in Ondo State, the Akeredolu administration has paid up till date. The organised Labour in the state yesterday issued a statement appreciating the Governor for approving the February 2023 salary.

In the last six years, Ondo State has witnessed unprecedented transformation. The kilometers of road constructed by the Akeredolu administration is more than that of last two administrations combined. Over 294.11km of roads were completed in six years. More than 900 public primary school buildings were reconstructed across the 18 local government areas of the state. 250- bed hospital was constructed in each of Ondo and Akure complexes of University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital. WAEC fees of SSS 3 students in public secondary schools were paid, while scholarships and bursary were awarded to Ondo State students in higher institutions. The list is endless.

Aside these great feats recorded by the Governor, the unwavering commitment of his administration to security of lives and property of the people has continue to receive accolades from far and near. The Governor led the struggle for the establishment of Amotekun corps at a time when his reelection was on the line. To him, the lives of his people is worth more than his ambition for a second term in office.

Today, the Amotekun Corp is a success story. The security outfit has made remarkable strides in protecting the people of the state against external aggression. Amotekun has been instrumental to the successful security operations within the state, especially in the thick forests. Over 2000 officers have been recruited, and deployed across the state.

Other security agencies in the state also benefited from the impact of his commitment to a safe and secured environment across the state. Governor Akeredolu has continued to strengthen other security agencies in the state with the distribution of hundred of vehicles and other ancillary equipment. His resolve to protect the state and its people has been unwavering.

The Governor built an ultra-modern Revenue House in his first term in office. The project was commissioned by the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in 2021. The investment in the construction of the modern edifice has yielded significant benefit for the state.

The Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) has increased from N700 million to N2.7 Billion monthly. The Ondo State Internal Revenue Service (ODIRS) has recruited and trained over 450 young graduates to enhance revenue collection process.

Aside the passing and accenting to the Ondo State Revenue Administrations Law, the Akeredolu administration has also renovated and equipped the 18 Tax Stations in the state with modern facilities and internet capabilities. Also the three tax stations in Igbekebo, Ifon and Ileoluji have been moved from rented office to a new ODIRS building.

Governor Akeredolu, imbued with the resolve to expand the healthcare sector and improve on health service delivery in the state, commenced the construction of 250 - bed hospitals each in Akure and Ondo complexes of the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital. The project has reached an appreciable level in Akure and Ondo.

One of the ambitious project of the Akeredolu administration in the state aside the Ore Flyover is the construction of the new Governor’s Lodge. The old Lodge was a modest three-room duplex of timber flooring, built for the Colonial District Officers. The historic building went through a lot of modifications, restructuring and renovations since the creation of Ondo State in 1976. The state doesn’t have a befitting Governor’s Lodge.

When he assumed office in February 2017, the Governor met the old Governor’s Lodge building, fabrics and furniture in acute dilapidation and utter state of abandonment. Also, the Governor’s Lodge Annex that was built by the immediate past administration was structurally defective. The Governor then moved into a 2-bedroom apartment where he occupies presently.

But the new Governor’s Lodge which was flagged off in 2021 has reached an appreciable level of completion. The project, which is expected to be commissioned soon, was conceived with the best expectations of any Governor’s Lodge you can find in Nigeria.

The structure sits on approximately 2,000 square meters of land and measures about 18 meters from the ground floor to the tip of the iconic roof. The facilities will house a Banquet Hall to sit about 250 guests, basement parking, indoor and outdoor kitchens, swimming pool, sitting lounge, atrium sitting room, bedrooms and other functional spaces with Information Communication Technology (ICT) software and gadgets to be applied in the finishing of the edifice while the entire environment will be adorned with both soft and hard landscape.

Despite the huge resources already committed to road construction across the state, the Akeredolu administration is not going to sleep. It has commenced the construction of Igoba township road among other numerous road projects in the state. In fact, the government is set to flag off the construction of an iconic flyover at the Onyarubulem junction along Akure-Ilesa expressway in Akure to curb the recent incessant carnage at the spot.

It has been six years of unprecedented performance and impressive achievements scattered across the three senatorial districts of the state. The remaining two years of Governor Akeredolu tenure promises to be eventful with more impactful projects and life-changing policies and programs.

It’s the sixth year anniversary, let’s roll out the drums and celebrate!

2023 POLLS: GOV AKEREDOLU RECEIVES INTERNATIONAL OBSERVERS, EXPRESSES CONFIDENCES IN HITCH FREE ELECTIONS

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, on Thursday received a team of International Election Observers who arrived the state capital to monitor the Saturday's polls.

The team of joint mission International Republican Institute (IRI) and National Democratic Institute (NDI) was led by Mr Rahul Srivastava, from the USA.

Other members are Marieme Soda Ndiaye, member of Senegalese Parliament (Senegal) and Jonathan Obatola, a field officer.

The team leader, who appreciated Governor Akeredolu for the warm reception given them, informed the Governor that the team was in the state to observe the Saturday's polls.

The team also lauded Governor Akeredolu for his various giant strides across all sectors of the economy.

The Observers applauded the Governor for making the state the most peaceful State in the Niger-Delta region through the establishment of Amotekun Corps.

Welcoming the team, Governor Akeredolu said the people of the State are prepared for the election.

"I must say that in Ondo state we are prepared for this election. We have received news that over five thousand security agents; officers and men have been deployed across the state. I believe that should be enough.

"Because of a few misunderstanding of what Amotekun is, they have not involved them in the deployment. We still live in stone age where you believe that a security outfit by sub-nationals will probably serve the interest of the Governors. That is unfortunate.

"We questioned, so, the Nigeria police will serve the interest of the President? Aren’t they deployed to serve people's interest? And Amotekun is here to serve people's interest. But we have told Amotekun that there is no problem, stay away from the polling units but be on the streets and be on the look out for anybody who wants to intrude, you can arrest.

"So, we can say we have double security now. Polling stations are to be secured by usual Police, Civil Defence and other paramilitary agencies.

"So, we believe our people are already energized to work and vote in this election. Those who are going to work are already there and will be deployed by INEC.

"We are also aware that all sensitive materials have been released to INEC from Central Bank, and they are going to move.

"So, I must say that it is our strong belief that this election will be hitch free. It has always been free anyway. We have never recorded violence here except in our stone age, if I can use that word. When we had incidence where houses were burnt for one reason or the other, not even on election day.

"We have never recorded violence on election day, but where people vote and you decided to change the results of the elections, in this state you can't try it. If you try it people will revolt, they will react. We are educated enough and we are people of courage, that's how we are brought up in this state.

"It is our tradition to be courageous, so we don't fear. But like I said, the election will be hitch free and we are hopeful that at the end of the day everybody in the country will accept who wins the election.

“It should never be a do-or-die affair. Yes, we have our candidate, I belong to a political party but that notwithstanding , I don't see why we should not accept whoever wins the election as long as the election remains free and fair.

"The only way we should not accept results of election is when we compare notes and see that look, what we have from the field is not right, and we want to challenge at the Tribunal and probably proceed until we get to the Supreme Court.”the Governor stressed.

Six Years In Office: Akeredolu Reiterates Commitment To More Life-Changing Projects Across The State

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, has reiterated his commitment to pursuing policies and programmes that would accelerate economic development and progress of the people.

The Governor said his administration will continue to work in tandem with the aspirations and yearnings of the people for the overall development of the state.

The Governor, in a special message commemorating the six years anniversary of his administration, stated that bold steps have been taken in the journey of redeeming the state and restoring its lost glory.

“Six years have flown by with astonishing speed. Our mission to redeem the state has been marched with courage and determination. We have made remarkable progress in our resolve to make life better for the people and make our state an enviable destination.

“Our commitment to industrialization and massive investment has yielded enduring fruits. In our first term, we facilitated industries both at the industrial park and the Ondo-Linyi industrial hub in Ore. We kept our promise of putting a stop to the carnage at the cross section of Lagos- Benin expressway in Ore by constructing the first-of-its-kind flyover, christened “The Redemption Bridge.”

“Our infrastructural drive has been phenomenal. In the last six years, over 294.11km of roads have been completed while a little above 100km are ongoing across the state. Our determination to leave the state better than we met it and bridge infrastructural gap has yielded impressive results.

“Despite the giant stride recorded on road construction in our first term, we didn’t rest on our oars as we are still dotting the landscape and initiating new road projects. For instance, we have commenced work on Igoba township road. Similarly, work is about to start on Ajagba - Iju Osun - Akotogbo road. The Agadagba - Pereama road is completed and awaiting commissioning, same as Igbobini - Igbotu township road. We have also concluded arrangements to commence work on the Agerige road.

“In pursuance of our commitment to the REDEEMED agenda of our administration and our desire to leave a good legacy, we commenced the construction of a betting Governor’s Lodge in our second term. Today, the Lodge is near completion and it is our hope that the laudable project will be commissioned in few months’ time.

“In the last six years, we have made bold footprints in the infrastructural sector. Another landmark testimony of our commitment to infrastructural development is the 250 - bed hospital we are building in each of the Ondo and Akure complexes of the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital.

“We are also set to build an ultramodern and befitting Judiciary Complex in Akure, the State capital. The new complex will house twenty different Court buildings from Court one to Court 20. That is aside the Chief Judge’s Court. The ground - breaking will be performed soon at the existing Court Complex.

“Also, in our resolve to accelerate development and provide a new lease of fiscal autonomy, we have tremendously improved on our Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) from the paltry N700 Million inherited in 2017 to an average of N2 Billion. This we achieved without burden on our people.

“When we assumed office in 2017, the workers were owed seven months salary arrears and their morale was low as the situation could be better imagined. We promised to give priority to their welfare, and today, we have offset six out of the inherited seven months arrears. As regards workers' salary, we have paid up till date. Just yesterday, I approved the payment of the February 2023 salary.

“We understand that no meaningful development can take place in the State without adequate security. That is why we have continued to strengthen the Amotekun corps and other security agencies in the State. It is our resolve to give our best to protect the lives and property of the people of the State.”

The Governor, while thanking God Almighty for His grace so far, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the people for the mandate given to him and the opportunity to provide leadership in the state.

He assured that the remaining two years of his administration will be devoted to more impactful projects aimed at improving the lives of the people.

Politics / Naira Redesign: Reverse Policy Now, Gov Akeredolu Tells Buhari, Cbn by pressy011(m): 10:13am On Feb 15, 2023
NAIRA REDESIGN: REVERSE POLICY NOW, GOV AKEREDOLU TELLS BUHARI, CBN

•••Says Old, New Notes Should Be Allowed To Co-exist

“Youths Will Determine This Election”, He Assures

•••You’ve Done Well For Nigeria, Youth - Seyi Tinubu

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to direct the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele to reverse the naira redesign policy now.

Governor Akeredolu said that both the new and old notes should be allowed to co-exist, noting that despite an existing court injunction, the old notes seem to have ceased to be legal tender in the country.

The Governor spoke on Tuesday evening while receiving members of the Youth Directorate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) led by Seyi Tinubu.

Seyi Tinubu is the son of APC Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Governor Akeredolu faulted the timing of the policy, stating that it is ill-timed, adding that the problem created by the naira and fuel scarcity have affected the ratings of the APC.

He said:”We have a problem we are facing in this country today. Our rating as a party is not that favorable. Let’s not deceive ourselves. Must it be now that we will have this financial policy?

“How? Fuel and everything? Things are not easy. This policy is not right at this time. It should be reversed. Reserve it and tell CBN that we are reversing it. Let old and new notes co-exist.

“Okada, taxis , banks are not taking old notes again. There is an injunction and everyone is behaving like there is no injunction. We have said that this man (CBN Governor) should be removed when he contested to be President. The man is not fit for that position. A man who attempted to be President will frustrate us at this time.”

Governor Akeredolu commended Seyi Tinubu and his team for the rigorous campaign embarked upon for the success of the APC.

While appreciating the youths in the party for their relentless efforts, the Governor revealed that youth will determine the outcome of the next week Presidential election.

“Your demographic shows that you occupy a larger percentage. You are the ones that will talk to yourself.” He said.

Arakunrin Akeredolu explained that the choice of the Presidential Candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was premised on informed decisions based on his competence and track record.

“We didn’t waver when we said that the Presidency must come to the South. And when it got to the south, we didn’t waver when we said competence and track record are important. Our choice of Asiwaju was premised on informed decision not because we are from the same tribe.” Governor Akeredolu said.

He further commended the State Youth Leader of the party, Ayo Olawande Wisdom for running the youth department of the party effectively.

Earlier, Seyi Tinubu appreciated the Governor for his commitment to youth development and inclusion.

“We have come to seek your approval to add to what you have done in the state already in terms of campaign. We will be in Ondo for the next two days to meet with the youths.

“Thank you for all you have been doing for Ondo and Nigeria . Most especially for young Nigerians and youths in the state. With the work you have done , we know Asiwaju has no worries in Ondo State.” He said.

The Governor was joined by the Deputy Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa; National Vice Chairman of party (Southwest) Hon. Isaac Kekemeke; Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu; Commissioner for Finance; Hon. Wale Akinterinwa; and the Director-General of the Project Performance and Implementation Monitoring Unit (PPIMU) Mr. Babajide Akeredolu.

GOV AKEREDOLU INAUGURATES HOSTEL BUILT IN HONOUR OF HIS LATE MUM

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, on Monday inaugurated a 50 self-contained flat hostel complex built in honour of his late mother, Late Lady Evangelist Grace Bosede Akeredolu JP.

The Hostel, located close to the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, was built by the Proprietor of College of Education, Ero, Ifedore Local Government Area of the State, Chief Peter Oyeleye Fasua.

Fasua explained that he decided to name the building after Governor Akeredolu’s late mum due to his sterling leadership quality and the immeasurable support he has received from the Governor so far.

He disclosed that the Hostel was built as part of the efforts to address the concern with growing student population in Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba- Akoko.

Chief Fasua noted that the rise in student population has led to shortage of hostel facilities for students and various challenges of overcrowded rooms.

“The rise in student population has led to shortage of hostel facilities for students and various challenges of overcrowded rooms, to congestion of hostel’s sanitary facilities, which hitherto results in an increased pressure on the infrastructure and other social amenities.

“These in turn affects the academic environment and pose serious danger to the health of students in terms of epidemics. Thus, the new building project of 50 self - contained flat hostel complex attempt to fill the vacuum existing and reduce the challenges of accessibility of hostel facilities which in turn will enhance academic success and improve student social value through interaction.

Commissioning the hostel facility, Governor Akeredolu appreciated the gesture of Chief Fasua for immortalising his mother.

He urged the students of the institution to make good use of the facility.

In their separate goodwill messages, the Vice Chancellor, AAUA, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi as well as the Alale of Akungba-Akoko, Oba Sunday Adeyeye, lauded the efforts of Chief Fasua at supporting the University by providing conducive hostel accommodation to further improve leaning activities in the institution.

The event was attended by the Governor's younger brother, Prof. Oluwole Akeredolu, his sister, Mrs Toyin Akeredolu, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Olugbenga Ale; Students and other dignitaries.

OWO ATTACK: GOV AKEREDOLU WEEPS AT FUNERAL FOR SLAIN VICTIMS

“We Failed To Protect These People” He Says

“You Didn’t Fail, Your Determination To Protect Your People Is Unquestionable” -Bishop Arogundade

Tears flowed freely on Friday at the funeral mass for the victims of the June 5th, Terror attack at the Saint Francis Catholic Church, Owaluwa, Owo.

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, and his wife, Chief Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu attended the funeral mass held at the Mydas Resort and Hotel, Owo.

Governor Akeredolu, who wept during his speech said the government failed to protect the victims of the terror attack.

But in a swift response, the Bishop of Ondo Catholic Diocese, Dr. Jude Arogundade declared that Governor Akeredolu has not failed in protecting his people.

Bishop Arogundade said:”You didn’t fail. You are a strong soldier. Your determination to protect those who voted you into power is unquestionable. This was done by cowards. You have tried your best.”

Governor Akeredolu stressed that the forces on the other side are evil, assuring that they will not triumph forever.

“We have failed to defend these people. Not because we have not tried. But because these forces on the other side are evil and they have supports. They will not triumph over us forever.” He said.

The Governor noted that something must be done in the country, adding that the Security architecture of the nation needs rejigging.

“When I see the sea of heads that are here it speaks volumes. What has happened to us in Owo in Ondo state is indescribable. A lot of words are used to qualify it. Dastardly, horrendous. But I still believe there are words to use to describe it but I still short of those words.

“We have just 22 (deceased) in this hall. A few of them have been buried. Because the relatives couldn’t wait till today. But as at the last count, these animals came to the church and murdered 40 people.” Governor Akeredolu said.

Bishop Arogundade wondered why the people of the country need to beg for state police, despite the endless attack and killings.

He thanked the Governor for accepting to designate a memorial park in honour of the victims, stressing that those who created the situation that made the incident happened has bloods on their hands.

Meanwhile, the expansive hall of the Mydas Resort and Hotel was filled to the brim as families of the victims, people of Owo, and other sympathizers thronged the venue of the funeral mass.

Members of the State House of Assembly, led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. David Bamidele Oleyelogun also attended the service.

Also, Members of the state executive council, led by the Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu, were present at the funeral mass.

Nairaland / General / Gov Akeredolu: ‘we Must Challenge Fg Excesses’ by pressy011(m): 8:34pm On Jun 16, 2022
GOV AKEREDOLU: ‘WE MUST CHALLENGE FG EXCESSES’

•’Gov Akeredolu Gift Of The Bar To Governance’-Body Of Attorneys-General

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, on Thursday decried the over-centralisation of authority in the hands of the Federal Government, calling on the federating units to challenge its excesses.

Governor Akeredolu said the 1963 Republican Constitution attested to ingenuity, originality and vision, adding that It has been the only Constitution that represented the interest of the people.

He noted that the 1963 constitution was made by the representatives of the people who came together to enact a law on behalf of the Federation taking into account the fact of heterogeneity.

The Governor spoke at the meeting of Body of Attorneys-General of the 36 States of the Federation, held at Lagos Continental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The event was also attended by Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-olu; the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami,SAN; members of the Bar and the Bench, among other dignitaries.

Ondo State Attorney-General and commissioner for Justice, Sir Charles Titiloye joined his colleagues from other states at the meeting.

The Governor noted that the 1963 constitution was enough evidence of the intention of the divergent peoples brought under the same political arrangement by colonial fiat, to act in unison to achieve a common destiny.

He stressed that the Constitution, anticipated growth and ultimate development through cooperation borne out of the agreement of the various groups to remain in the union as one.

While saying that the country has been experimenting since the incursion of the military into politics in 1966, Governor Akeredolu revealed that the promulgation of the Unification Decree of 1966 introduced a unitary system into the political arrangement of the country.

"The military, displaying their characteristic opportunism, abolished the existing regional structure and replaced them with the so called provinces. They consolidated their hold on the polity by yet another promulgation, the Supremacy Decree of 1966 after the counter coup.

"Nigeria has been striving to recover from the debilitating effects of this disruption. All subsequent legislations, since this aberrant incursion, have followed the unitary pattern despite pretensions to some federalist intentions", the Governor asserted.

Governor Akeredolu disclosed that he had some reluctance coming to the event due to the June 5th terror attack in Owo which left 40 people dead and several injured.

“The happenings in Ondo State about a week and half ago, I can not run away from the fact that I have to be here with some reluctance because of the respect I have for this body and I have earlier accepted to be the key note speaker. If you don’t mind, I would like us to rise and observe a minute silence for the victims of the mindless attack in Owo on the 5th of June", he said.

The Governor further explained that the crises created by the 1999 Constitution, as amended, have been unending, adding there have been agitations that the Exclusive Legislative List in the Constitution be limited to Nigeria’s external trade, customs duties, export duties, tax on incomes, profits and capital gains, interstate commerce, external borrowing, mining rents and royalties from mineral resources, among others.

According to him, the Federal Government has consistently rejected the suggestion, "presumably” because of the humongous 52% revenue allocation to it while the 36 States and the 774 Local Governments share the remaining 48%.

"The 1999 Constitution has been amended twice. There is another promise of further amendments arising from the manifest irregularity in many provisions. This has compelled many lawyers and educated citizens to insist on having a new Constitution which will reflect the agitations of the various groups which make up the country. The law is becoming increasingly less certain under these circumstances. The federal system, purportedly provided for, by virtue of Section 1 of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, is a legal ruse".

The Governor further said: "the 1963 Republican Constitution had 45 items on the Exclusive Legislative List. They are now 67 under the 1999 Constitution, as amended. Matters concerning elections of Governors and members of Houses of Assembly of States, pension and gratuities, police, prisons, airports, public holidays, labour and trade unions, Stamp Duties, among others, are included in the Exclusive Legislative List. It is high time we conducted a comprehensive review.

"It is exciting to note that this meeting will be deliberating on important issues such as the claims of London/Paris Club Loan refund, Value Added Tax, proposed amendments to the 1999 Constitution, as amended, proposed amendments to the Stamp Duties Act, State Anti-Corruption Commission, which will focus on the case of the AG Federation vs. AG Lagos State instituted on the legality of enacting the Lagos State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission Law and the establishment of the Commission and current developments in the Administration of Justice in the 36 States of the Federation".

Earlier, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mr Olumide Apata and the Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Moyosore Onigbanjo, applauded Governor Akeredolu for being the rare gift of the Bar to good governance.

Politics / Review The State Of Insecurity In The South West. by pressy011(m): 5:51pm On Jun 12, 2022
BEING THE COMMUNIQUE ISSUED BY THE SOUTH WEST GOVERNORS’ FORUM AFTER THE VIRTUAL MEETING HELD ON THE 10TH JUNE, 2022 TO REVIEW THE STATE OF INSECURITY IN THE SOUTH WEST.

The Governors of the Southwest, at the meeting held, virtually, on the 10th June, 2022, deliberated extensively on the rising wave of insecurity in the country, especially the South West and decided on some measures, deemed immediate in stemming the tide of banditry, kidnapping and terror attacks in the region.

The recent attack on St Francis Catholic Church, Owaluwa Street, Owo, compels immediate intervention in the whole of the South West to nip the insidious phenomenon of insurgency in the bud. The meeting, consequently, took decisions, some of which are expected to have far-reaching implications in the quest to protect lives and property in the region.

The meeting deliberated on issues which pose great risk to the collective well-being of the people and resolved as follows:

1. The Governors condemn, in very strong terms, the horrendous crime perpetrated by Terrorist against the people and residents of Owo, Ondo State, and, by extension, the peace-loving people of the South West. The Governors sympathise with the victims of the mindless attack in Owo.

2. The Governors agreed to declare a 3-day mourning period in memory of the victims of the 5th June, 2022 terror attack on St Francis Catholic, Owaluwa Street, Owo, Ondo State, starting from Monday, 13th June, to Wednesday, 15th, June, 2022 to symbolise our collective loss across all South Western States in Nigeria.

3. The meeting agreed that all the Governors should direct the flying of Flags at Half Mast in all public buildings, facilitates and official residences across all the States in the South West in honour of the victims of the Owo terror attack.

4. The Governors noted, with great discomfiture, the increasing agitations about spaces taken over by unidentified and unknown migrants in all South West States. The meeting, therefore, recommends an increase in the scope of surveillance of the activities of these undocumented settlers by relevant security agencies in all the States.

5. The Governors, as Chief Security Officers, resolved to continue to assist the security agencies in the areas of crisis management and intelligence gathering at ALL times.

6. The Governors reviewed reports from various States on the factors militating against peace and security in the region. They expressed grave concern on the influx of Okada riders into all parts of the South West, especially the State capitals. The meeting further resolved that efforts be geared toward identity management of Okada riders and stringent regulation put in place for their operation.

7. Consequently, the Forum decided it was time to reconvene the South West Security Committee to look critically into this creeping menace before it blossoms into another intractable social problem. The Committee will be expected to submit its findings on the desirability of Okada operations in the region. It is also expected to submit a multi-level template to combat the threat of insurgency and terrorism in the region.

8. The Forum agreed to convene forthwith a physical meeting of the South West Governors to deliberate on the security challenges confronting the region.

Dated Friday 10th June, 2022.

Politics / Babajide Akeredolu’s Appointment: Apc Replies Pdp by pressy011(m): 5:55pm On Nov 18, 2021
BABAJIDE AKEREDOLU’S APPOINTMENT: APC Replies PDP

BABAJIDE AKEREDOLU’S APPOINTMENT: NO AMOUNT OF LIES CAN TAINT THE TRUTH- APC.

The news of the appointment of Babajide Akeredolu’s appointment has generated needless furore and brought to the fore the penchant of the People’s Democratic Party to scream wolf when none is in sight.
For the records, Babajide Akeredolu was nominated by our great party on the strength of his relentless contribution to the overall success of the APC in Ondo State and not as the Governor’s son.

It is important to note that this young man did not emerge overnight from the blues. He has been on ground for an appreciable length of time as resource person to the party and has consistently and diligently proven his mettle, at personal cost, in not only joining other party faithful in building the party but also going the extra mile in ensuring improvement is recorded by the party which has largely enhanced the electoral value of the APC as well as the fortune of our great party. Perhaps a run-down of his recent outstanding contributions to party building and success at the polls would suffice.

The young man on his own volition used his contacts to generate resources and relief materials for the people during the height of COVID last year, nobody cares he is the son of the governor.

It is also verifiable testament that this same young man worked practically round the clock for the party by deploying state-of -the-art technology to help in the 2019 General Election which ultimately earned the APC a resounding victory. No one labelled him the governor’s son.

When he was using his resources to mobilize the teeming youths of the state for our party APC towards the 2020 governorship election in Ondo State, nobody identified him as the governor’s son.

A true patriot and a genuine son of Ondo State, Babajide Akeredolu performed the aforementioned feat pro bono for our party and ultimately to the greater glory of Ondo State

To whom who has contributed so much to a cause; by same token deserves appreciation from the society. Now that Babajide Akeredolu is being rewarded for all his hard work and devotion to the cause of the party, it therefore came as surprise that a few in the opposition could needlessly raise brows.

When has it become a violation of the constitution to appoint a hard working, devoted, loyal and committed party man into a government position?

As a political party Babajide, with all sense of modesty can be described as a great asset to the APC Ondo State and we fully endorse his appointment. The only honourable way we can express our appreciation to any member who is adjudged to have worked and with sincere loyalty to the party is to recommend such hard working party man or woman for appointment by the government. This goes beyond appreciation but also a sure way of giving such a diligent party member a sense of belonging.

Babajide Akeredolu is one of such person recommended to Governor Akeredolu for appointment and we are glad he obliged the party.

The brewing criticism of Babajide Akeredolu’s appointment by the opposition party is understandable because of their fear of what the young brilliant man is capable of bringing to the table that will further enhance the fortune of the state. His capacity to innovate and as an outstanding technology wizard will invariably open up a wider window of opportunities for the state in terms of patronage, technological breakthroughs for enduring iconic legacy projects in our beloved Ondo State.

This is what the opposition detest. But they’re wrong to have opposed the development of the state which our party APC stands for.

However, the good people of Ondo state, especially the teeming majority of the youths whom Babajide has, with his modest efforts, helped in raising their standard of living via exposure to technological innovative ideas , are very pleased to see one of their own breaking the ceiling glass by being given the opportunity to serve in government.

To us as a political party we welcome this development and genuinely acknowledge the appointment of Babajide Akeredolu as the Director General, Performance and Project Implementation Monitoring Unit (PPIMU) as a call to service.

We therefore urge him not to be distracted by wailers and ranting of the opposition party who are not only envious of his accomplishment but fearful of greater things to come from his reservoir of knowledge that will propel our party to a greater heights and secure victory for the APC in the state ahead of the 2023 general elections.

•Vows To Address Capital Flight On Meat Consumption

•Says Rural Areas Will Be Opened For Development

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu Aketi ,SAN has described as mind boggling, millions of naira that leaves the state weekly on beef consumption, in form of capital flight.

This is even as the Governor declared his administration’s readiness to construct the Ilutoro rural road as part of the 1000km road to be done in the state under the Rural Access Mobility Project (RAMP).

Governor Akeredolu maintained that money that would have remained in the state to lubricate the economy of the state is lost to other states that supply cows and other meat source.

The Governor spoke at the commissioning of an Ultra Modern Piggery Project at Ilutoro in Akure North Local Area of the state on Monday.

The piggery project is expected to employ 4000 youths and women in value chain process.

The event was attended by the Deputy Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa; the Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Gbenga Ale, other members of the State Executive Council and Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress(APC) Chief Olusola Oke, SAN.

Governor Akeredolu noted that his administration decided to encourage the production of a homegrown alternative in piggery and pig processing, so as to address the ugly trend of the capital flight leaving the state weekly on beef consumption.

The Governor stressed that the project will also create veritable means of employment and empowerment for the teeming youths, adding that dietary intake of lovers of pork would be enhanced.

While assuring that the project will open up the rural areas for development, Arakunrin Akeredolu said the project was put in place to accentuate the different economic benefits in pig production and processing.

“Pig as we all know is very prolific, as such, rate of return on investment is high. This will undoubtedly translate to increased wealth for our farmers.” He said.

He said his administration is irrevocably committed to have the sunshine state REDEEMED from poverty, hunger , insecurity and youth unemployment.

“At this juncture, we need to point out the value addition initiatives of our administration which has culminated in the establishment of a number of agro-allied industries. Worthy of mention is the Sunshine Chocolate Factory at Alade-Idanre for value addition to cocoa.

“Our chocolate from Idanre is at verge of hitting national and international markets. Not only that, Ethanol Processing Company at Okeluse is at the verge of completion, Ondo State, being the largest producer of cassava in the country is poised to supply the needed raw material. Furthermore, the Egg Powder Processing Factory at Emure-Ile in Owo Local Government and many others are all part of the initiatives of our administration to give value addition to curb produce in Ondo State.” He said.

The Governor also appreciated Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO), Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN), Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD), African Development (AfDB) for their cooperation and reposing confidence in his administration.

Monarchs hails Oyetola's governance model, endorses him for second term

.
..As SWAGA 2023 flags off in Osun

Traditional rulers in the State of Osun have described the governance model of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola as one that is progressive and has service at its heart.

The monarchs also endorsed Oyetola for a second term in office, stating that it will be to the advantage of the State if there is no disruption.

Speaking at the flag-off of the South-West Agenda 2023 in the State of Osun, the Oludo of Iddo Osun, Oba Aderemi Adedapo, the Secretary for the Council of Obas and Chief in Nigeria, described the performance of Governor Oyetola as one that has attracted attentions even at the federal level.

According to him: "We are not politicians, but when we have identified the right path to follow, it is only ideal and logical to follow that path and guide the people under our domain. That is only how we can enjoy the dividends of democracy and good governance.

"So, we are reaping from his ingenuity, and we desire his continuity after this current term elapaes", Oba Adedapo stated.

He also called on the yoruba race to embrace the South West Agenda 2023, adding that the yoruba race is blessed with different grades of leaders who have what it takes to help the cause of the region and by extension the nation.

He continued: "We have blessed to have great leaders among the yoruba race. If you look at the trajectory of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he has three main gift that an Omoluabi should have.

"He is a strategic thinker, a man one with the privilege of foresight and of even temper. Secondlt, he is a reliable man, one who has integrity, a virtue that is very rare in the black race. Lastly, he is someone who will always add value to your life", he added.

Corroborating his submissions, the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Akanbi Adewale, described Governor Oyetola as one who is in government to serve and not to get personal benefits.

He also lauded the South West Agenda 2023, adding that it is an opportunity to correct the mistakes of the past.

He said: "We have seen the fruits of a great leader. We are not going to be ungrateful to our leaders, our heroes and legends anymore. We've done that to Awolowo in the past, but no more. This time, we are going to correct the mistakes of the past. We are not going to be ungrateful.

"Asiwaju is an ideologist. He has made so much impact. He has built great leaders, people who are real servants of the land, one of whom is our own Governor Oyetola who has distinguished himself and made it unequivocally clear that all he wants to do is serve and nothing more", Oluwo stated.

Aketi bans open grazing along the Highway and major roads in Ondo State.

We have taken major steps at addressing the root cause of kidnapping, in particular, and other nefarious activities detailed and documented in security reports, the press and debriefings from victims of kidnap cases in Ondo State.

These unfortunate incidents are traceable to the activities of some bad elements masquerading as herdsmen. These felons have turned our forest reserves into hideouts for keeping victims of kidnapping, negotiating for ransom and carrying out other criminal activities.

As the Chief Law and Security Officer of the State, it is my constitutional obligation to do everything lawful to protect the lives and property of all residents of the State. In light of the foregoing, the following orders are hereby issued:

1. All Forest Reserves in the State are to be vacated by herdsmen within the next 7 days with effect from today, Monday 18th January, 2021.

2. Night-grazing is banned with immediate effect because most farm destruction takes place at night.

3. Movement of cattle within cities and highways is prohibited.

4. Under-aged grazing of cattle is outlawed.

In its usual magnanimity, our administration will give a grace period of seven days for those who wish to carry on with their cattle-rearing business to register with appropriate authorities. Our resolution to guarantee safety of lives and property within the State shall remain utmost as security agencies have been directed to enforce the ban.

CACOVID Rice: Osun Muslim, Christian Communities receive 6,200 10kg bags

...Govt has given needy succour, say beneficiaries

... We have strictly followed the equitable distribution mechanism -- Govt

Six Thousand and Two Hundred (6, 200) bags of 10kg CACOVID rice were on Monday distributed by the Osun Government to the members of Muslim and Christian Communities in the State.

The distribution was in continuation of the distribution the over 40,000 10kg bags of rice donated to the State by the Private Sector Coalition Against Covid-19 (CACOVID) as part of efforts to cushion the effect of the global Coronavirus pandemic.

This is just as the State government said that it has followed the equitable distribution template to ensure that every segment of the population benefits from the gesture.

Receiving the stimulus package at the Government Secretariat, Osogbo, the leadership of the State Muslim and Christian Communities eulogised the State government for taking the struggle of life-supporting programmes to the grassroots through the religious leaders.

The Assistant Secretary, Osun Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Clement Fayemi, commended the Administration of Governor Oyetola for taking the welfare and well-being of the citizens as his priority.

Fayemi who described the gesture as timely and rewarding, noted that the initiative would go a long way to meet the most critical need of the people, particularly the vulnerable at the grassroots.

He applauded the style of distribution adopted by the State, which according to him had facilitated the inclusion and incorporation of religious groups in the mode of distribution of the palliative.

"First of all, I must commend the Osun Government through the leadership of CACOVID for bringing this succour to our people at this critical time.

"We are very appreciative of this gesture and we do hope that the hands of fellowship extended would in no small measure help to meet the needs of the beneficiaries.

"We are very glad that they remembered us. God will continue to remember them.

"On behalf of the State Chairman, CAN, Bishop Ogunrinde, we are very appreciative of this noble gesture", he added.

Also, the Mufasir of Osogbo, Alhaji Maroof Ishola, expressed profound gratitude to the donor for counting adherents of the two faiths worthy of the palliative.

Ishola also appreciated the State government for taking into cognisance the vulnerable individuals among the adherents of the both faiths.

"We are very delighted to be here today to receive the food item (rice) donated to the State by CACOVID. This is a good development for the needy as it will help to put smile to their faces.

"I am particularly glad that our people are remembered in the distribution process. I commend the State government through Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for his Administration's resolve to guarantee the security and welfare of the citizenry.

"As we are taking this to our people, we shall ensure that it gets to them in all the Local Governments and we shall distribute it accordingly and as planned", he added.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Commerce, Industries, Cooperatives and Empowerment, Dr. Bode Olaonipekun, expressed satisfaction at the people's positive feedback and applause of the government's distribution template.

Olaonipekun said the government's distribution template which was designed to accommodate every segment of the population, particularly the vulnerable groups, had helped to evaluate the level of reach since the commencement of the distribution.

"The template we adopted gives room for proper monitoring and evaluation of the exercise and this has really helped us to evaluate the strength of the distribution so far.

"As you all know, the distribution is still ongoing. We distribute on receipt, and this technique has been the driving force through which we reach out massively to the target beneficiaries of the rice component of the CACOVID palliative.

"We shall continue to do this until the last bag is released", he stated.

@oyetola.

I received my brother and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde and his entourage who came to express their appreciation for the amicable agreement to end our joint ownership of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology ( LAUTECH), Ogbomoso.

It's important to note that this decision was reached in the best interest of the two states, the students, staff and management of the university. I also want to reassure Osun citizens working at LAUTECH that the ceding of the institution to Oyo State won't affect their jobs.

They will retain all rights and obligations stipulated in their letters of engagement. Osun students at the university will also not be discriminated against and will not be subjected to fees or admission differentials.

Best wishes to the Government of Oyo State as it assumes the ownership and management of the university.

They're Akindeko-Awosuru Link raod, Adejumo Street with loop to WAEC road, Oremeji Spur road, Akinlade Street road and Adewale Street road. The Isopako road which is the 6th road in this network will soon be reconstructed.

The rehabilitation of these roads was in response to the demand by the people of Alekuwodo during our visit to the area shortly after our assumption of office, to thank them for their support and ask for their needs.

It's important to note that the roads were completed within 8 months of award, despite the lockdown occasioned by COVID-19. This is an indication of the seriousness we attach to the welfare of our people and the mileage we're ready to go to take care of their interest.

To ensure safety and security of lives and property, particularly at night, we've installed solar street lights on some of these roads. It's our belief that the completion of these roads will ease movt of goods and people, and stimulate socio-economic activities within this area and neighbouring communities.

We shall soon embark on the construction/rehabilitation of Ejigbo township road, Ido Osun township road, Gbongan township road, Ile-Ife township road, Kuta township road, GOF-Ori-Oke Pure Water road, Halelluyah Estate, Osogbo, Inisa township road, Ila-Arandun road and Ikirun township road among others.
