Congrats.. However, did u send them an email during the course of application? it was quite fast

No, I didn't send any mail. I noticed that my Background check was completed same day I did Biometrics.... I guess that step was waived because of my US visa (or maybe UK).

Congrats. Yes you can do either. With DHL ensure you do a 2 way courier.
For walk in, time for submission of passport is from 8am -10am.

All the best.

Thanks a lot. The passport request letter I received doesn't state how to send via Courier. I've checked vfs website and can't see anything about courier there too. I'm trying to avoid flying to Lagos just to drop passport.

Hi everyone, please I have a question to ask as regards to the passenger locator form
Does one still need to fill in the passenger locator form prior to traveling?
Does one still need to book covid test after arriving in Uk despite being fully vaccinated (because I heard that you have to fill in covid booking reference number while filling the passenger locator form)
Can one fill the passenger locator form 3 days prior to arriving.
Please I need your help with this questions because I am really confused with the passenger locator form

From March 18 (tomorrow), no one entering the UK will need to take covid tests or complete a passenger locator form

Charley2020:
That's how JUMIA Scammed me. I bought a phone(Huawei Y7 Prime 2019) at 60K. After waiting for 5 days and not receiving a shipping notification I called them only to find out that the item was out of stock, and it was in stock when I ordered. They canceled the order and refunded my money.

The next day I checked and saw the phone on their website, but this time the price had gone up to 76K. I ordered it and it was delivered. After delivery, I checked their website again only to find out that the price had gone down to 60K again.

I called them to complain but they said there was nothing they could do about it. That's how I spent (wasted) an extra 16K for nothing. Jumia is simply the worst shopping site in existence.

Jumia's return policy says-

You can initiate a return up to 7 days after delivery if:
- You receive a wrong, damaged, defective or counterfeit item
- You change your mind, with the exception of Shipped-from-Overseas items, underwear, adult toys, perfumes, cosmetics, hair extensions and jewelry.

Simply return the phone and then get the cheaper version.

On the contrary monocrystalline PV panel is more costlier than the polycrystalline type. The technology between the two had so advanced that the line that divides the two are today blurry. But the only difference is that polycrystalline panels tends to perform better under higher temperature while monocrystalline tends to perform more in cooler weather. Also, if space is not an issue, a 300w monocrystalline solar panel is smaller in dimension compared to the polycrystalline.

Thanks boss

That's what we are saying, u set it charging rate in respect to the battery bank,
Still respect the batterit's ability to withstand the total charge rate, or else the battery will faIL in short period of time, most battery accept c10 , c9, c8,
Supplying 20a to 100ah battery , that is c5 the battery will die in no time,
Hybrid inverter are good in pv and load management, but they also have recommended solar panel ratting written on their body
Mono and poly solar panels,,,
Mono panel of 250w appear to smaller in size when compared to a poly panel of 250w
,so mono seem to be more efficient, but both do the same job

Thanks for the clarification. Links below were also quite helpful

It's not possible for the charge controller to know the rating of your battery ,wether it's 200ah ,400ah,or 100th system, charge controller supplies constant current (based on it capacity ) and regulated voltage, and3, 4 or 5 stage charging method to the battery, u as an engineer then need to apply the right sizing of panels for your battery,
Even most inverters, sukam ,microtek, luminous, they all have charging current selection at the back ,u select based on ur battery ratings
It will b heart breaking to replace 16 batteries in less than 4 months of installation concidering the cost, due to wrong installation
Some hubris inverters can do the load charge balancing properly,
And also there solar inverters that can work directly from sun

I have attached an extract from the manual of the hybrid Inverter I think I'll get. It shows the Inverter's charge controller can be programmed to deliver a charging current of 10A to 60A to the batteries. The default current to the batteries is 30A regardless of what gets to the charge controller. The excess will be sent to the load.

Also, the 3.2hrs from my previous calculation only applies if I'm using just one 200Ah battery. If using 4 batteries then it should take abt 12-13 hrs to charge from empty.

Do you know much about Mono and Poly Solar panels? All the research I've done shows that Mono is better. I'm just wondering why Poly costs more in the market.

Charging deep cycle battery in 3 hours is an over Killing, deep cycle battry are not designed to charge that fast, u need to respect the rule of c10 unless u plan to b replacing ur battery every now and then

This was actually my concern with having a high number of solar panels. I also noticed lots of installers recommend four 300/330W solar panels for 5KVA inverters (four 200Ah batteries).

But shouldn't the charge controllers regulate the amount of voltage/current assigned to charging the batteries? If not, current from PHCN should charge batteries from empty to full in less than an hour. I feel there should be a max charge rate from the charge controllers and what's left over should be sent to the Load (at least for hybrid Inverters)

A friend once bought an inverter that looks like the type sold by iCellpower from PSCSOLARUK in Lagos and inverter had lasted for three years with no issues. However, I've heard great feedback on Felicity inverter on excellent after sales support. There is this annoying feeling that comes when you tried to resolve an issue and get only stories. So, I think it is worth buying from people who may not turn their backs on you as soon as the money hits their account.

Thanks for the info bro

To add to it, just imagine the CC is faulty, it means the inverter won't be available to supply power to the client, were as stand alone CC can go for repair while the inverter can be used and nepa power can still charge the batteries...

For the panels my oga mctfopt has said it all .

Thanks. That's a good point raised.

There is never an overkill when it comes to solar panels, the more the merrier. grin
It means you'd have no problem getting your batteries to float (charge full) in almost virtually any weather condition. My neighbor uses 16 nos of 300W panels for his 48V inverter system comprising of 24 nos of 2v 500ah batteries. He's still planning to add more panels.

Your neighbor is really vexing lol. Do you know much about 'icellpower' and 'ipowerplus' Inverter brands? They both have Service Centers in Nigeria which I feel is a good thing

Most people believe a standalone cc is more robust and does a better job compared to the hybrid. That may be a subjective belief as some hybrid are pretty good, like in things of this nature you always get what you pay for. If you pay for premium quality, you'd still get that premium performance. The benefit of having many solar panels is your batteries get to be fully charged faster, and also gets charged on cloudy days. Also, the number of batteries determines how many solar panels you'd require for sufficient charging. E.g. if you install 24 numbers of 12V 200AH batteries, there is no way the size of solar panels will not be more than 20 250W, unless of course, you have a small load that it is catering for, in that case, you do not really need to size that battery bank that large to handle it.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm considering getting 12 250W solar panels for four 12V 200AH batteries (5 KVA Inverter, 48V), is this an overkill?
