agbameta: Btw, quote the pics and check out the image links, that's what people with common sense do, this is how you find out the source?Take it or leave it, Akwa-ibom has more to offer than what you have put on this thread.. in fact every state in this country has more to offer than that... anyway it's your life, believe what you want to, and also you completely missed my point on the governors link *unfollows thread* |
agbameta: 1. What kind of talk is this? All the Akpabio school pictures are from Akpabio's website minus just the bursing schools.you must think I'm supporting Akpabio.. personally i think he has greatly underperformed that's why i wonder why every1 rushes to compare themselves with him thereby acknowledging him in the process... if you argument is based on the schools on the Governors website then please point them out to me... http://www.rotimiamaechi.net/ http://www.godswillakpabio.com/default.aspx because if that's all Akpabio has done then i find it very hard to believe he will have even one supporter left (And please watch how you talk to people) |
cordss: @op, firstly i MUST have to question your academic prowess??, how good are you with your further mathematics?, because in as much as i will advice you to choose chemical engineering over petroleum engineering because of the large and versatile nature of the course compared to petroleum engineering.... I MUST have to remind you that chemical engineering has nothing to do with CHEMICALS, and has EVERYTHING to do with MATHEMATICS. am a chemical engineer and no one told me what i just told you now!!.Seriously? I don't think you should refer to any course as easy especially if you didn't study it |
cheapgadgets6: hey bro,can u shed more light on ma questn pls?All the electrical Engrs I know in the oil industry are in Design (E & I), Construction or Maintenance(Servicing).. As far as increasing your chances of getting in I cant really say.. Just try your best to do your IT in a respectable oil company and make your 1st class/2.1 |
Ejike.chinedu:OIL AND GAS |
What kind of Comparison is this you put six average/dead pictures of one state and put over 40 pictures of another state... if you want to praise the achievements of Amaechi then create a thread praising him... If you want to compare, then give us 40+ pictures of both states, whether good or bad... I actually think Akpabio should be proud of the fact that every1 is trying to compare their state with his. In my opinion this thread and the one comparing Fashola and Akpabio are very uncalled-for. |
kika41: Any,I think if u hav a 1st class in petroleum engr,u wuldnt struggle for. Job..petRoleum engineering ocupies 60% of the oil and gas industrylol.... 1stly Petroleum Engineering Jobs(reservoir, drilling, production, core analysis and well logging) take up about 40-50 percent of the oil industry but these jobs are not for petroleum engineers alone, they share this Jobs with departments like Mechanical, chemical, geology, geophysics and even electrical in the case of well logging for example... also the oil industry recycle staff a lot as no one wants to leave that's why its extremely difficult to get in.. 2ndly 1st class in petroleum doesn't guarantee anything, the competition is just toooo stiff.. Oil companies value experience way more than 1st class/Masters. I know too many 1st class petroleum graduates working in accounting firms or even still searching for Jobs, If not for God I'll have ended up in an accounting firm too, was to even resume in one earlier this month... funny thing is there are more 2.1 graduates than 1st class in the oil industry |
Mr Calculus: den wat can industrial mathematics b use for??I really can't say. It's not a course I'll advice anyone to study. Anyway, as long as a graduate from Industrial Mathematics gets a second class upper he should still be able to get a decent Job (Might be in an unrelated field though) |
Mr Calculus: wat about petrochemical engineering and industial mathematics??Petrochemical engineering is about the same thing as petroleum engineering and falls in the same category as petroleum engineering in terms of job prospects and salary range.... Industrial Mathematics does not fall under Engineering and as such can't be used to apply for engineering Jobs |
great.david:In my opinion... In terms of job prospect 1st- Electrical 2nd- Mechanical 3rd- Chemical 4th- Computer 5th- Met & Mats 6th- Civil 7th- Systems/Petroleum But when it comes to salary range that list rearranges itself very quickly 1st- Petroleum 2nd- Mechanical 3rd- Chemical 4th- Electrical 5th- Systems 6th- Computer 7th- Civil/ Met n Mats So you have to ask yourself some serious questions b4 making your decision. Keep in mind that only 1-2 petroleum Engrs at most out of 10 from a Nigerian university will make it into the oil and gas industry. Also keep in mind that there are more mechanical engrs in the oil and gas industry than any other engineering department. (NOTE: IN MY OPINION) |
Capableben: wow, tanx alot. so where do u work wit ur pet engr degree presently?I was very very fortunate to get an oil and gas company where I'm currently a process engineer, which is even a Chemical Engineering department to begin with.. Got offers from some other companies but taking them would have meant kissing goodbye to my Petroleum degree |
This is one strong dude.. Very few people in this situation would still be conscious let alone sitting up.. May God grant him the grace to walk out of this a stronger man |
When it comes to getting jobs, I'll advice you anyday to go for chemical engineering... I agree that petroleum departments in oil companies pay the highest but at d end of d day at least half of the staff workin in these petroleum departments studied Mech, chemical or geology.. Petroleum engineering is highly restricted, the only place you can fully use your degree is in 'some areas' of the oil industry, whereas chem, Mech and Elect can work almost anywhere ... I'm a Petroleum Engineering graduate so I know what I'm saying. If I could go back in time I'll have studied Mechanical |

3ace: Yes but the ones made here are more concentrated hence, he might not take it.I guess you're right, but he just said Coca-cola and didn't specify.. also i"ll be very surprised if Jay-z knows its more concentrated without actually tasting it |
adeaugustus: I'd be damn, when JayZ drinks cocacola....lmaoooyou know Coca-cola isn't a Nigerian Product right ![]() |

Splendid7: no. I didn't see any flag there, but if u see him u will know that he's a govt official.as long as he's not flying flag i don't expect any1 to question him. I've sha seen the salary breakdown for Majors down to Generals and trust me when i say all the Generals with mad money made it through deals/runs.. military salary for a Nigerian general is lower than what a Trainee Engr at ExxonMobil n the likes Make |
Splendid7: but i have seen a major gen. that is retired, but still has military guards, military driver and official tinted cars.I can understand the guards and driver (he could have requested specially), but the official car is really weird.. was he still flying flag?? |
Splendid7: Hello pals, what's the beneffit of retiring in the army as a general, apart from fat salary and authority over others while in service? What fat salary is that its really just the prestige in the name, the respect from civilians(police fall under civilian category to me),the connections you might obtain and if you're fortunate to reach the rank of full general then you'll have guards assigned to you till you pass away, that's about it. I think its the swag that comes with the title that attracts people. I must confess, it's fun going out with pups, don't even have to carry drivers license.... nothing fit happen lol |
7 Nigerians.. you Gats respect |
Yes Boss!!!
