Suspected cultists numbering over 50 in the early
hours of yesterday, attacked Gaadi village on the
outskirt of Makurdi town razing several houses. This is just as suspected Fulani herdsmen also besieged Adeke in Makurdi town, shooting sporadically for over two hours while residents scampered for safety. Vanguard learned from a source that the invaders stormed the village at about 10:30 pm Tuesday, firing gunshots as they matched through some streets in the community. The development forced many residents and parents to flee with their families, scampering through bush paths to safer areas in the town. Calm has, however, returned to the community after three police patrol vehicles moved into the area around 12 midnight. When contacted, the State Police Commissioner, Hyacinth Dagala, stated that the squabble between the Tiv locals and some Fulani herders in the community on Tuesday afternoon, could have led to the sporadic gunshots. “You know there was a problem in that area between Fulanis and the Tivs yesterday (Tuesday). The police even waded into the matter but it’s likely that the attack may be because of that incident. ‘’ For now, we don’t know who is responsible but my men are already there to maintain peace and I can assure you that the place is calm now,’’ he said. Among the houses razed by the gang of cultists that attacked Gaadi village was the home of late Alexander Gaadi, who before his demise two years ago, secured compensation of over N8 billion for victims of Zaki-biam military invasion in 2001. An eyewitness and brother of the deceased, Devien Gaadi, who spoke to reporters narrated that the cult gang stormed the area in a commando manner at about 1 am with dangerous weapons and shot sporadically into the air. http://www.vanguardngr.com

Therefore, because of the recent ruling of the U.S. Supreme Court, I can no longer fulfill my duties as Circuit Clerk and issue marriage licenses to same sex couples."

The former governor of Benue State Mr. Gabriel Suswam was last week arrested in London for battery charges. A close family said, that the Metropolitan Police Domestic Violence Officers booked Mr. Suswam into the London detention center for several hours and a judge set a £5000 bail bound for the former governor which he met before he was released. Though the cause of their fight seem to be a bit confusing. But , a reliable source has allege that all properties that was purchased in London by the Ex Governor , were short changed into a different name by the wife. While other sources, said it was clearly a case of infidelity on the wife's part, where a guy whom the wife ones introduced to the husband as a brother was later found to be her lover for years. As a matter of fact, it didn't go down well with Mr Suswam, which made him beat the wife to a pulp. Still gossip ooo... However, Police arrested the embattled Suswam in his luxury London home after a distressed 911 call was put through the Police by his wife Yemisi. She told a dispatcher over the phone that she feared for her life after being physically assaulted by her husband over a heated argument relating to his infidelity with a mistress by name ''Shidoo''. A family source told the police that Suswam hits Yemisi severally and inflicted injuries on her over the mistress because she has refused him marrying her as a second wife. Its also rumored she has a child for him. A source who spoke to a correspondent disclosed that the British Police are prevailing on Mrs. Suswam to press charges against her husband who the source said is in the habit of abusing the woman at often times. Meanwhile, Battery offence under the UK law is an offence against the Person Act of 1861. Suswam faces a prison term not exceeding six months if found guilty. If Mrs. Suswam decides to press criminal charges against her husband, the former governor risk going to jail under the UK Criminal Justice Act of 1988 As at the time of filing this report, it was not clear whether the Metropolitan Police officials installed electronic device on him to prevent him from jumping bail. The governor on Wednesday on his twitter page defended his time at the government house. #sir bish |
