Well something similar happened to me, it was 3 semesters without reg. Due to some issues.. I applied for condonement of those semesters Senate sat and approved it(which is quite unusual because they don't approve more than 2 semesters), though I involeved a lot of high ranking school officials who defended my case in the Senate. So I think you should go to the school counselor, he/she would tell you how to go about condonement it us most preferably you use health as your excuse though, that's more efficient than using other excuse. You'd get a medical report from a government hospital that says you were in there care all those time you missed school. But see the school counselor all schools have different processes so the counselor who advise you on the best approach.

P.s condonement means you'd have extra year already as it means you were not around all those time and the school would remove that period from your details.
