Travel › Re: Should I Relocate To Lagos by professore(m): 11:05am On Jun 22 |
TechToyin: Hello everyone,
I’ll be turning 25 in July, and as I approach this milestone, I’ve been thinking seriously about my next big step in life.
I currently live in Kaduna with my parents and have a stable, comfortable life. I work as a teacher and also earn additional income from research writing and occasional website development gigs. I hold a Second Class Upper (2:1) degree in Biochemistry and consider myself fairly tech-savvy.
Lately, I’ve been feeling that it’s time to challenge myself and pursue bigger opportunities. Lagos keeps coming to mind because of the career prospects, networking opportunities, and the fast-paced environment that seems ideal for personal and professional growth.
My biggest challenge is accommodation. I don't currently have a place to stay in Lagos, and that uncertainty is making the decision difficult.
For those who have made a similar move, especially from northern Nigeria to Lagos, would you advise taking the leap? How did you handle accommodation and the initial transition? Do you think moving to Lagos could be a worthwhile investment in my future?
I’m considering making this move as a birthday gift to myself and would really appreciate your advice, experiences, and suggestions.
Thank you. put everything in serious fasting and prayer. Why? There are opportunities in Lagos, there is also great evil on Lagos. |

When you have no morals you will see anything as an opportunity. A responsible adult will protect a person who is intoxicated.
An animal will take advantage of the situation.
You want to be an animal, stay in Nigeria. It is that simple. Animals go too plenty for Nigeria with this advice |

At the end of the day, your personality and EQ carry more weight in this society than your IQ. You can have all the degrees in the world, but if you don't know how to relate with people or manage your emotions, you’ll still struggle where others are gliding. EQ is the real game-changer.
Your colleagues are not your friends, it's a dog eat dog world in the corporate world
don't try to overdo your job, it won't make your boss like you more, or increase your worth, it'll only stir jealousy from colleagues and make your boss take you for granted especially when he sees you're eager to please him, its always going to backfire.
If you try to do something really important that benefits a large number of people, some people will not only oppose it, they will try to kill you
That most smiles in the work place ends there and your colleagues are not your friends

bobogogo: Someone without all those qualities must not be a leader of an organisation before getting paid accordingly. Check the sporting world. Cos you are the captain of a football team doesnt mean you earn the highest in the team. In nigeria, people attribute highest pay to leadership alone and that is why corruption will not die. I get your point, and it's valid. |
Career › Re: Why The Smartest Employee Often Never Becomes The Boss by professore(m): 11:07pm On Jun 16 |
The problem is that many professionals spend years improving their technical abilities while completely neglecting the skills that determine who gets promoted, who gets heard, and who gets trusted with leadership responsibilities.
At the beginning of your career, people pay you for what you can do.
As you move higher, people begin to pay you for something else.
Can you communicate complex ideas in a way others understand?
Can you unite people behind a common goal?
Can you influence decisions without relying on your job title?
Can you manage difficult personalities and conflicts?
Can you present ideas confidently before executives, investors, clients, or stakeholders?
Can people trust you to represent the organization when it matters most?
Many brilliant professionals struggle with these questions. They assume hard work speaks for itself. Unfortunately, workplaces do not always reward the person who works hardest in silence.
Your Visibility matters, communication matters, relationships matter, influence matters ans strategic thinking matters too. This explains why two people with similar qualifications, experience, and intelligence can end up with completely different careers. One remains a respected specialist for decades. The other becomes a manager, director, executive, or CEO.
The difference is often not talent.
The difference is the ability to combine expertise with leadership. Technical skills build credibility, communication creates opportunities and eadership creates impact.
The professionals who rise the furthest are usually not those who choose one over the other. They are the ones who master both. |

Originalsly: I know two persons who fell victims to this. Mainly used in powdered form . Be wary of people asking you for directions ... the ones that will pull out a paper to show you where they see to go.. the paper has that drug... when you look to read... they'll blow the powder in your face... causing you to breathe it in ... and from that moment.... they control you.
I formative thread ...but too much information. Why name the drug? ...will it be if benefit to the victim? ..or to the criminal minded? As word get around in criminal circles.... we'll see a spike in crimes committed using this drug. Then what?

According to health discussions, constant consumption of sugar, bread, soft drinks, noodles, pastries, rice, and other refined carbs can keep insulin levels high for too long.
And when insulin stays high, something interesting happens.
The body increases an enzyme called aromatase, which can convert testosterone (male hormone) into estrogen.
Meaning:
More belly fat = More aromatase More aromatase = More estrogen More estrogen = More belly fat

Fatigue reduces alertness and slows reaction times, making activities such as driving or operating machinery particularly hazardous.
The long-term effects of chronic sleep deprivation can be severe. Over time, ongoing lack of sleep may contribute to:
* Cardiovascular disease * Cognitive decline * Memory problems * Premature aging * Reduced life expectancy
Prioritizing quality sleep is one of the most important investments a person can make in their health, productivity, and overall quality of life. In a world that constantly demands more of our time, ensuring adequate rest may be one of the most powerful ways to protect both body and mind. |

Car Talk › Re: Mercedes Benz E350 2015 Vs Toyota Camry 2015? by professore(m): 2:27pm On Jun 10 |
Reference: The car world is basically split in two between functionality and form.
All the way back since the 70's the debate in the US has always been around what is a 'show car' and what is called 'an everyday' car.
That debate still holds today and manufacturers know their market and build products to suit them.
Toyota is the classic 'everyday' car. Reliable, no frills, engine and drive train that has barely changed in 50 years. It is the classic 'weekday car.
The Mercedes on the other hand is the quintessential 'weekend' car in the Nigerian context. For the big occasions.
So, I wil suggest you have the two if you can. The Toyota in the forecourt and the Merc in the garage. well said |
