Education / PhD In Sustainable Energy Or Masters In Machine Learning? by profsein007(m): 11:35am On Sep 03, 2021
Hello Everyone.

I am trusting that this submission meets us well.

I studied Agricultural Engineering in Nigeria with a master's degree. My CGPAs at both levels are near perfect (close to 5.00) and perfect (5.00) respectively. Of recent, I am thinking of pursuing a Ph.D. in Sustainable Energy having offered related courses while studying Agric Engineering or a master's degree in machine learning and artificial intelligence as my previous knowledge in the area is limited. Both pursuits are based on fully funded scholarships.

Looking at job opportunities in both areas, which would advise I go for?

Top of the day to you guys.

So, a few weeks ago I carelessly applied to NSAI. To my surprise, I received an invite yesterday night for an aptitude test scheduled for tomorrow been 25th November 2020.

At the moment, I work in a top private agrochemical company in Nigeria with an attractive take-home. However, I would like to find how much NSAI package is to serve as ginger for tonight's preparation against tomorrow's test.

Let's have a shared mindset pls. Study pack is very much welcome.

Nigeria needs a complete overhaul on security architecture.

If Kaduna to Abuja road that's less than 200km can't be protected there is a huge problem..

They should invest in Drone and more surveillance technology.. Security can only be effective with intelligence not brutal force

May God protect us

Before all these, I think the root cause needs to be addressed.

There is too much of poverty and hunger in the land: let the government address this
There is too much of gap between the poor and rich: Let the government address this too
There is also low education amongst teenagers in the North: Let the government address this
And finally, let the government unite everyone in the country irrespective of political views, religion and ethnicity.

The rise in security treat to the nation and even in the hometown of president may not be unconnected to these points. He who has ears should make use of them ooo

Experienced similar issue when I was treated of typhoid and malaria some years back. Its a neurological problem caused by the side effect of cyprofloxacin; an antibiotic. It occurs in very few number of patients.

Politics / Re: Gunmen Attack: Resort To Violence Cannot Save You- PDP Tells Yahaya Bello by profsein007(m): 1:30pm On Sep 04, 2019
dorothybella:

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) issues a stern warning to Governor Yahaya Bello and the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the gun attack at its governorship primary election in Lokoja, Kogi state.

The party says the resort to violence and bloodletting cannot save the failed governor and his party, the APC, as the PDP and the people of Kogi state are firm in the irreversible resolve to use every means available in a democracy to confront and vanquish APC’s evil plots ahead of the November governorship election.

It is clear to all that Governor Yahaya Bello has become chaotic in the face of his rejection by the people as well as the soaring popularity of the PDP in Kogi state, and has now resorted to violence in a failed desperate attempt to prevent our party from presenting a candidate for the election.

For the avoidance of doubt, the PDP had a peaceful, decent, clean, clear, credible and transparent process in the conduct of our primary. Accredited delegates had voted and the balloting had been concluded in a very orderly manner before the vicious attack by the gunmen, who were shouting pro-Bello mantra and accompanied by known APC faces.

The PDP only has pity for Yahaya Bello and the APC because our processes are still intact and nothing can sway our resolve as well as strong will by the people of Kogi state to kick them out of office in November.

This is more so as the attack has further united our governorship aspirants, critical stakeholders, leaders and teeming members and supporters across the state for a common front against Yahaya Bello and the APC.

Indeed, nothing can detract from this, as the attack has further united and bolstered the people of Kogi state to remain behind our party in the decisive struggle and the noble objective to liberate their state from the violent and suppressive forces.

Our message to Yahaya Bello and the APC is that their days in office are already numbered and that they cannot stay a day beyond the stipulated hand-over date.

In resorting the violence and forceful occupation, the APC and rejected Governor should have known the people of Kogi state have never in history, bowed in subjugation to any body no matter the force or intimidation.

That spirit of resistance to oppression and force has been triggered and we caution the APC to steer clear of the wrath of the people, who have decided to take back their state by voting in the PDP, come November 16.

Politics / Re: See How Governor Yahaya Bello Is Spending Kogi's Money by profsein007(m): 5:33am On Apr 27, 2019
vigopress:
*Governor Yahaya Bello Building Sustainable Economy For Kogi Through Innovative Reforms*

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello during his swearing in ceremony on January 27, 2016 promised to introduce reforms that would fast track development of the state and bring dividends of democracy to Kogites irrespective of their location or status.

Governor Yahaya Bello in his inauguration speech clearly explained his New Direction policy by saying: ''My Administration shall exist for the sole purpose of serving the superseding interests of the people of Kogi State to the very best of its capabilities. We also undertake to never lend our capacities to servicing the avarice of anyone or group–whether from Kogi State or elsewhere.

''There is no greater evil than Corruption and nothing champions that evil more than Impunity…Corruption and Impunity made sure our people repeatedly arrived at a promised future and found it bereft of substance, or the promised better life.''

The governor in his bid to take Kogi state to greater heights and build sustainable economy reformed the tax collection system with the establishment of Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KIRS). KIRS within three years raised the state Internally Generated Revenue from N300million to over N1billion monthly, employed 600 staff thereby reducing unemployment and boost the state economy. Therefore, the autonomous revenue collection agency blocked leakages and other sharp practices without overburden the people with new taxes but adopts technology as well as competent hands for revenue collection.

Perhaps, the decision of Governor Bello to build gigantic office for KIRS in Lokoja is geared towards creating conducive environment for the staff, boost their morale, improve productivity as well as efficiency and maintain consistent increase in IGR.

Apart from that, Governor Bello as part of efforts to clear outstanding salaries inherited by his administration commenced Biometric data verification for civil servants in 2016 to eliminate ghost workers, multiple salary collection and clean up the state payroll. Although, some people misconstrued the intention of GYB but the policy led to discovery of thousands of ghost workers and help Kogi state government to save millions of naira from monthly wage bill.

Another move of Governor Bello to lay solid foundation for growth and economy development of the north central state is the establishment of 50-ton Rice Mill at Omi-Dam, Yagba. The Rice Mill to be commissioned by President Muhammad Buhari soon would help Kogi attain food sufficiency, create jobs, increase internally generated revenue and contribute to overall economy development of Nigeria as well as reduce rice importation.

Similarly, the digital inclined governor recently inaugurated World Class Diagnostic Centre to bring standard radiography services to Kogites, reduce medical tourism abroad and serve as hub for advanced diagnostic in North Central and others neighbouring states.

The passionate governor said the Medical diagnosis is a critical aspect of health management as it serves the double purposes of preventing ill health as well as managing health conditions.

According to him, As a responsible governor, I feel sad when citizens die not because we don’t have the medical facilities to manage their ill health; but because the culture of early diagnosis was poor.

Likewise, GYB remain vocal, resilient, committed and unrelenting in the call for revival of Ajaokuta Steel Company by President Muhammadu Buhari, this makes some people in presidency and Ministries of Power as well as Industry named him *Ajaokuta Advocate*. The sagacious, energetic and foresight leader is working assiduously to revitalize Ajaokuta Steel Company because of its economy benefit to the state, potential opportunity for unemployed youths, the multifaceted advantage to host community and contributions to GDP judging by the company's past records.

Furthermore, Governor Bello within three years spent billions of naira for infrastructural projects across the 21 local government areas to construct roads/bridges including Lokoja city roads, the refurbished roundabout at the state capital, Olamaboro Ikeje-Ibana-Okpo road, Idah-Umomi road,
Agasa-Upogoro road, Ife-Olukotun-Iyamoye road among others, provide clean/portable water and electricity supply through rural electrification in many communities.

Also, the APC led gov government in the state partnered with World Bank under the Nigeria Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project Scheme for construction of 500km rural roads in every part of the state. RAAMP would ease the transportation of agricultural produces from the farm to the market in due time for sale with consequent economic benefit, improved food security and smooth transportation for the people in the rural areas.

Some of the roads are Iresuah-Checkpoint (2.3km), Ozusi-Ege (5km), Aku-Iresuar (3.2km), Avinebe-Irevure (6.5km), Okuha-Agara-Atami (6.6km), Ebiya- Idebe (1.5km), Adogo-Ffn (16km), Obabara-Upake (24km), Magongo-Ogori (4.8km), Eni-Asoso (10 km), Ugugu-Akonogbolo-Orekete (25km), Olugbemiro–Jegede Crescent Road (0.5km), Obeiba Township-Oboroke-Ijove (2.3km), Sen Pius-Farm Centre-Chenya-iku (2.5km), Eika Adagu Farm Centre (2km), Ohuepe-Obangede-Oboroke (6.5km), Iniku-Ege (8.2km), Ebechi (9.1km).

The great feat of Governor Bello in area of infrastructural development, security, economy and electricity has turned Kogi state to investment destination for local and international investors. Although, there are still more work to be done to engineer modern Kogi that will work for all but it's crystal clear that the new direction agenda of governor Yahaya Bello is an holistic approach deliberately designed to engender life, touching developmental strides for all Kogites regardless of the divide.

I don't know what to say to you OP. I leave you in the hands of God.
And don't forget, we will stand before God to account for all our doings.

Crime / Re: Court Gives Evans Last Chance To Get A Lawyer by profsein007(m): 7:40am On Apr 11, 2019
Tintinnoty:
An Ikeja High Court on Friday gave suspected billionaire kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike alias Evans till May 10 to get a counsel to defend the criminal charges against him.

Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo told Evans, whose case has suffered three adjournments following his failure to secure legal representation, that he had only three options.

Evans could defend himself, get a new counsel or the court would appoint a legal aid counsel for him, the court said.

The judge gave the warning following the third consecutive absence of Evans’ lawyer, Mr Olanrewaju Ajanaoku.

Ajanaoku, who skipped the last proceedings over issues of unpaid legal fees, had earlier informed the court, through a letter, that Evans’ family was yet to perfect their brief, in terms of financial commitment.

Evans is standing trial alongside Joseph Ikenna Emeka, 29, Chiemeka Arinze, 39, Udeme Frank Upong, 43, on a seven-count charge of murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to kidnap and selling of firearms.

At the commencement of Friday’s proceedings, Chief State Prosecution Counsel, Adebayo Haroun, prayed the court to invoke Section 233 (3) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) which empowers the court to appoint a counsel for the defendant.

Haroun said: “Where the defendant fails to secure legal representation, the court has the discretion to order the legal aid counsel to provide a representation for the first defendant, Evans.

“This is the third adjournment taken at the instance of the first defendant. So, we urge Your Lordship to invoke Section 233 of the ACJL if the defendant fails to provide a counsel on the next adjournment.”

The prosecutor also informed the court that his witness, a police officer, Inspector Idowu Haruna, attached to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Intelligence Response Team (IRT), was present to resume his evidence.
Responding, Justice Taiwo warned Evans of the consequences of his failure to get a new counsel.

Justice Taiwo said, “I have told you (referring to Evans) the options; defend yourself, get a new counsel or I’ll appoint a legal aid counsel for you.

“This case is not just for you, there are other defendants involved. Therefore, the liberty of the second, third, and fourth defendants, who also demand justice, is also at stake. And justice delayed is justice denied.

“In the circumstances, I’ll adjourn this matter till May 10 and the first defendant must provide a counsel.

“However, in the absence of the counsel for the first defendant, on the next adjourned date, this court will invoke Section 233 (3) of the ACJL and order the representation of the legal aid counsel for him,” the judge said.
