How do I present proof of all I've been doing till interview time, considering that it's mostly been freelance jobs? And are they interested in period from my secondary school or just after first degree?

Notarization of documents depends on the admission requirements of the school.

Eg. School A can require you to notarize your documents and apply via the school portal or uniassist.
School B can require you to apply for admissions without notarization of documents via the school portal or uniassist.
So do well to check each schools website for the information you need.

You can tag each motivation letters to the respective schools.
Eg. Uni Koln ML, Uni Freiburg ML.

Also, how do I handle the motivation letter thing since uni assist says you need to submit only 1, and I read online that a motivation letter should be tailored to each uni?

Regarding getting an appointment date for family reunification, there is the section on their booking system where you register for it. The embassy will get back to you when it is time. That’s why a lot of people are still waiting.

After your interview and submission of your application, you may be able to expedite the process. The family member in Germany can reach out to his ABH (Immigration office) with the application number of his/her family members. If the officer at the ABH finds your family’s application number on their system, then they can tell you the status of the application, for instance if it is still being processed by the German consulate in Lagos or if it has been moved to their office or another immigration office in another city - if within their purview, they may let you know what’s outstanding.

I'm seeing people saying it takes about 2 years to process family reunification. Are there any exceptions, please? I definitely ain't prepared to wait this long.

Expatrio is better. These days fintiba asks for more documentation after funding which can be a headache sometimes.

No it is not a must. However, do it if you can afford it to have lots of admission options. Nigeria by default is a english education country but institution admission requirements differ from school to school. If you cant afford it, then streamline your school search to schools that do not accept IELTS. Infact some schools accept English proficiency letter from your Nigeria university

However, its best once you have a job contract that shows you can carter for yourself and the parent you are bringing into the country.

He's been communicating with the mum on phone. And I don't think there's a misunderstanding because it's the first thing I suspected myself, but he said he made it very clear that he just wanted to reveal himself officially, especially to the dad so that they know that she has someone.

I also advised him to abort mission o because I can't can.

I belive there's some misunderstanding here. The parents think he's coming for introduction, whereas he was just planning to make a casual visit.

He shouldn't have asked his girlfriend that question. If he told her he wants to say hello to her parents, no one would have asked him to pay a dime. Or if he cultivated the habit of saying hello to them on the phone, they would have become fond of him. So his coming wouldn't look formal.

For now, tell him to abort the mission ASAP.

Even introduction over here, they'll entertain you freely firstly, then you drop something when going (usually for the children in the house).

A friend of mine has been dating this particular babe for 2 years plus now. The girl just graduated so he decided it's time to put an end to hide and seek relationship as he's considering moving things to the next stage. He informed the girl of his intention to go meet her family (not official introduction) and asks the babe to find out what he needs to go with (maybe custom demands anything).

To his surprise, the babe returns to say her mum told her that he needs to come with wine for prayers, buy a carton of soft drinks for the family, put money in an envelope for each parent and also come with a bag of rice.

My guy told me that he was shocked to hear all these considering that his girl is not an igbo girl and I personally have other friends who married her tribe and there was no such outrageous demands even during the wedding proper.

This is causing some issues as the guy has insisted that he's not getting all those just because he wants to go know her people. His girl on the other hand insists that he's supposed to do everything her parents requested so that her parents will know that he's the right choice for her.

I'm careful not to blame either of them because we all know how advising relationship people can be. They can turn everything on your head later. That's why I decided to ask from neutral people here and would appreciate your advice (especially women).

PS: This guy is like any other struggling young man and both his girl and her mum are aware. He's also been very supportive and spent over 500k in her final semester in school alone just to make sure she participates in all the final year activities to make her happy. Again, it wasn't convenient, but he did everything for love and now feels angry and betrayed.

Do you think my guy is right to refuse their demands or they're right to demand those things and he's bound to provide them?

After completion of studies, you are given 18months post study visa to get a full time job offer. If you are in any of the STEM, you could have got an internship or work student which eventually turns you to full time as soon as you complete your studies. However, if one is not lucky enough to get internship before graduation, you have to hunt for jobs that will give you full employment. It should not be difficult as it may be. But one needs to connect with his people and colleagues in the system to get job either referal or any otheer means before the 18months expires.

However, there are lots of doors you can pursue as we all know that most people dont want to return back home until you have made it. You could opt for new degree or further whatever studies (tuition is free so make the best of it).

Please, how easy is it to stay back in Germany after studies?

Yes, I had my first class Nov 2021 and had my interview as part of CAT A.
When you get your appointment mail, it's indicated that those with first class after January 2021 are eligible.
