Well, competitions like this do have some censor tags attached.
If it wasn't previously stated though, it wouldn't be very fair to use it here. Erotica is still a genre of literature. |

You'll have to hack into Nairaland to get that number of votes in a day. Do you know how many votes contestants gross per hour during Mr and Miss Nairaland pageant? 100 is the minimum. |

Does kimberlywest's poem have anything in common with MLk's " I have a dream" ?
Trying to pick a winner The content of the poem isn't exactly the same as MLK's speech but she made the costly mistake of choosing the same title and using lines from the speech. Technically, that flags it as plagiarism. |

Wanderlustafrik,
I am totally elated by the platform you have created here and I think if you intend to organise another competition, you should contact the mods for their help.
I also humbly suggest that the entries be sent by mail and then transferred to a closed thread without the authors name on it. Nobody would be allowed to post links to their stories or campaign in any format.
You could have a panel to proofread the entries to ensure they comply with the instructions before posting them on either the voting thread or the disqualification thread.
I know this seems like a lot of work, but to be completely transparent, the competition has to be moderated. That way, nobody would scream partiality, and budding or unpopular writers on Nairaland won't be discouraged. 3 Likes 1 Share |

The competition is still on and open to new contestants,no winner yet. Only pointing out things that could get them disqualified.
On the standard of picking a winner,I'm open to your suggestions cos the next competition will be bigger.
I chose to use the likes From the reader's cos as a standard cos it eliminates partiality, which May have been an issue if I decided to have a panel of judges. You specifically stated that contestants should not campaign for votes. The person you tipped to win and a few others either flouted that rule or didn't read the instructions. Does that amount to disqualification? 1 Like |

I think after all the submissions, we can talk to Divepen1 to move it to the frontpage, then all Nairalanders can read and afterwards like and share whichever story they love. Are participants allowed to campaign for LIKES? cc Divepen1 Wanderlustafrik |

UNITATIS ET PROGRESSUS
“I, the President of this great nation..."
"This is a disaster, your excellency," the Chief of Staff spat as he watched the speech air on national TV. "What about your agenda?"
"My agenda?" Rihabu asked, a sad smile creeping over his weary face. "I came out to salvage this nation but it is no longer about me, Rikha," he said affectedly.
His eyes caught the map of the country on wall with 'Unity and Progress' boldly written on the frame.
"Can there ever be Progress without unity?" Rihabu thought aloud.
He picked up his state-issued phone.
"Get me a secure line to Idmann Nuka," he said.
There was a pause at the other end before the receiver snapped, "At once, your excellency!"
Rihabu turned to face the aghast Rikha who promptly frothed, "Walahi, Moh! For... what reason?"
Rihabu ignored the lack of formality and answered, "Not just him. I will hear the grievances and the way forward from the other stakeholders and our people."
"I had time to reflect these past few weeks, Rikha. This country is divided because of the seeds of discord sown by the political class. Tonight, however, change begins with me," he declared passionately. 9 Likes 3 Shares |

Kusibe77: Kim, perhaps, started telling her fans before hand because the instruction was there --- voice competition; 'likes' equals vote --- and they responded, greatly.
Before the verdict, kim was winning, dropping her by the judge was more like giving others in the group a chance again.
Initially, this was for fun; to make the section lively. And it did.
my two kobo. I don't know about the Voice competition and how it is run. I agree with the fun part, that was part of why I joined. But what if Kim didn't finally win? She was just 4 points above the 3rd person. |

The LIKES AND SHARES prior to the time the judges made their selection and before you opened the floor for the voting to commence should have been made null and avoid. I joined the competition to learn, and asking people to vote for my story 'just because' felt very odd but I still learnt marketing. Orubebe would not take this but although I believe stealing is corruption, I'll follow GEJ. |

Divepen1: Well, if it looks insultive, I tender my apology. But you stating that I modify the thread will make people assume we cheated you by not updating you. Immediately I posted it, Skarlett was found canvassing for votes and she said Thank you ma'am Please vote for me by liking and sharing the post here( link removed)
https://www.nairaland.com/3915558/seun-osewa-flash-fiction-instructions/4#59395185
And I think I found the discussion got mixed up, Skarlett asked which thread would be used for vote counting, then you replied her with Likes from both threads combined would be tantamount to inaccuracy (duplicate votes). That's because 1 person can like both threads and it would be counted as 2 votes instead of 1.
https://www.nairaland.com/3915558/seun-osewa-flash-fiction-instructions/4#59343338
I didn't make the mistake because I've thought almost everything through. The voice allows three votes, so I chose the best formats that would have a feel of this three votes and that is the use of Likes and Share.
Also, I went through my Moderation Log, which unfortunately cannot be accessed by you, and I saw all my edited works and I didn't see any moderation of such.
I'm not explaining myself to prove my perfection but to help you as well as a lot of writers and readers know there was a only a miscommunication but not mistake. I might have sounded like you're to use only Likes, I'm sincerely sorry about it. This is not a complaint but the last stage was not exactly handled expertly. Before the day you set out for voting and campaigning, some contestants had already started the train. Again, Audrey came and dropped the verdict that Kimberly had already qualified. That gave the impression that you and the judges had already made your pick. I came back later to find contestants still calling for votes. I don't want to imagine how it would have been managed if Kimberly did not make it. |
