Here are the the main causes of Terrorism:

- Poverty
- Unemployment
- Injustice
- Corruption
- Lack of Education

Prior to escalation of boko haram threats, Nigeria as a country can testify to the presence of the aforementioned causes. Boko haram didn't come as a surprise. We actually build, trained, and fed the militants.
While we need to reduce their evil activities; our leaders (most especially the corrupt elites) need to avoid further effects on the long-run by attending to these factors.

Combating terrorism and other allied insurgence is a tough job, we can never be totally prepared, however more efforts must be geared toward equiping and re-training our security officials.
