ChybuzzDD: The points you raised are different from his. He's ruling out Gboko because of insecurity, while you're ruling it in as a place to relocate to. Una no dey read to understand at all Gboko is safe. He only indicated the OP did not make any reference to security and you started thinking to the moon and back. Who told you Gboko is unsafe to start with. So you assume everywhere in Benue state is under siege? It is your type that think all parts of Nigeria you have never been to are on fire. You cooked up your interpretation to what he said! Stop overthinking. |

I almost fainted when someone told us we were extorted because it was the orientation camp. At Tarka, my friend told me you could get a basket of tomatoes for #120. It is not all about everybody dabbling into agriculture, what is the capacity? All the rice farmers in Nigeria may be producing less rice than a couple of farmers in Thailand. |

Ilekokonit: That's not exactly true. What wrecked every one's chance us the mindless looting if our commonwealth by a few politicians and their cronies.
There is nothing wrong in wanting to go back to your home country after a spell studying abroad and the likes of Prof Olikoye Ransome Kuti, Dr Beko Kuti, their cousin Prof Wole Soyinka, MKO Abiola, Gani Fawehinmi, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Dr Chuba Okadigbo, Prof Pat Utomi, Dr Raymond Dokpesi and a host of other erudite Nigerians all went to study in Europe or America and came back to Nigeria and most of them were offered Top Middle class jobs by Government parastatals in Nigeria with Houses, Cars, cooks et all and good salaries.
In the 60's, Nigeria and other African countries went to the UK to head hunt Nigerians who had finished studying with juicy job offers complete with relocation packages back to Nigeria and a lot of our elders came back to Nigeria to start such good jobs.
So, you are not the problem for having a NATURAL desire to come back home. The problem is the corrupt politicians in Nigeria that refuse to let talented Nigerians breathe or survive. If merit had a place in Nigeria, many Nigerians abroad won't be there. The weather, to start with is one thing I never came to terms with. Nigeria is cool, what messed us up is nepotism and corruption. |

This is true because if you are betting for example and when forecasting your games the teams that have 4 or 5 straight wins doesn’t always win their next game(s). They are always been carried away by their previous success. Winning is exhausting. Those teams that keep winning over a long time may be trashed in the end by some very useless underdogs |

Eriokanmi: You're welcome. Keep praying and don't lose hope. If it's foundational problem, continue to rebuke it. Sadly, we live in a wicked society...full of witchcraft and enemies. If you don't faint, God will show you the source/cause of your predicament and proffer a solution.
There are generational problems too. The same way some people have some diseases and features traceable to their lineage or genetics, like asthma, hemorrhoids, mental issues, albinism, etc, so do people also inherit problems from generation to generation. I had a colleague back in the days. He's urhobo from delta state. He called me in the office one day and said, he's scared cos they never age beyond 40yrs and he was almost 40 then. He's way older than me but we were on same level by qualifications. I told him to keep praying and I'd also join him. He's 56yrs today. Sadly, the last born died 4yrs ago. When I saw the picture on his Facebook wall, I called my colleague, he said its her sister who never took ill for up to 2 days and died. I asked how old and he said she was preparing for her 40th birthday, just imagine. Only God knows what their forebears had done wrong which had remained a curse from generation to generation. Nobody is spared from all these generational wahala. Only God can remove it by fervently praying for him. Until the curse is erased, one may never see helpers. Give it a try Good luck Wow! Thank you. I will work on that |

nony43: So a long streak of success can actually wreck someone? Wow Of course it does! Very few people realize it! We pray for breakthroughs everyday, but nobody wins every day, that is a fact. Then winning continuously over an extended period of time can be dangerous because it can make one complacent and careless. In a crime channel I once heard something interesting, they said when they are are going after a serial killer that has killed several victims without a trace, detectives just keep following the serial killer patiently, that at some point, the serial killers become carried away by their success and eventually become.careless, thus leaving behind a trace. |

TotoIsGud4boy: Interesting. You were blinded by your past success. It made you ignorant to the non-existent safety net available in Nigeria. So you were just merely existing hoping that each day would get better or your former success will reflect in your personal growth and achievements. Anyways you can’t blame yourself, the environment played a major role. Now you realized time is your greatest asset. Most people never realized that even at 50. There’s still hope. How about starting a business venture? Try your luck there, it’ll be brutal at first but back to your original issue, be very aware that trying to benefit from the system (9-5, corporate jobs) you already made yourself vulnerable from the get go. You were always vulnerable even when you were in the UK. Cheers and I wish you the best. Thank you |

Eriokanmi: Bros, very sorry to hear this. There are a lot of inevitable challenges in life which we face as human at one point of our life or another. We fight mainly unseen war, which we can only win through players, constant, committed and serious ones fir that matter.
I went to school in America too and came back. We were quite many who took this daring and brave path. I won't say risky because Nigeria remains a land of so many untapped opportunities. Ask Chinese and Indians who keep thronging Nigeria and they'd tell you more.
One of the unseen battles is the foundational battle, either from maternal or paternal side. Lust for women too chase away opportunities and can make you lose focus. Let me share a friend's experience with you. In early 2000s, he won a scholarship from his state's governor to school in the UK. He was a child of nobody. He was just lucky to have been selected as the only one who applied for the particular discipline and area of interest to his state's government. The idea was for them to return and contribute their quota to the state in return. They were also allowed to go back and leave the government employment, if they wish, 3 years after they had served their state govt. Those UK universities reps came to Nigeria and had interviews and chitchat with the scholars and on-the-spot admission letters were issued to them, in line with their areas/courses applied for.
To cut the long story short, my friend's visa appointment had been scheduled, alongside other beneficiaries. Barely 4 days to the visa interview, one girl that had once turned down his request to date her surfaced. She said she just came to see him and would like to leave the following day. My friend ate her. The following day, another one, whom he had met while in the university came, one thing led to another and he slept with her.
On the day of interview, all of them participated. Only him had his application rejected. He cried like a baby and said he'd like to see me. I now told him to start praying for God's favour and stop the act. Those ladies came to cause him misfortune. They may not be ordinary. By the time the 2nd batch of his university admission was announced in the UK, he reapplied for his student visa and his visa application was approved. He fasted for days until after the interview. Today, he's a PhD holder consulting for a group of multinationals. I wouldn't want to say much. Every man knows where he fell and solution to his rising. You'd bounce back bro. Jist keep praying, believing in God and stay focused You just energized me. Thank you so much. You kind words met me just when I needed them. My case is mysterious bro. About 95% of the people I reached out to to lift me refused. I am still confounded, I don't understand. I mean, those people were not strangers but people I bonded with very well over the years. Some even tried to exploit me. The 5% that made an attempt to help me somehow failed. Someone spoke with a sitting governor to help me, the governor gave a note, the head of the agency turned it down and nothing happened! Thanks for the encouragement |

Kampack: No! I went for PR. The process isn't as difficult as I thought it were. With some concerned friends who saw my sufferings and knew I've done myself a disservice by turning back after my PhD, and was also aware of the unending imbroglio between ASUU and FG, I was able to pull through. A few friends raised funds for me. I'll encourage you to move out as quickly as you can. It's not rossy abroad, but not as bad as it is in 9ja! Experiences differ though, but from my experience on both sides, I can tell you confidently that the odds are stashed more against you in 9ja - especially if you are a low income earner - in such a unproductive and unfavorable economy! Please bro, how do I get a guide from you on how to get out. If you are willing, I will give you my email address so you could furnish me with any info that may help me. How I survived the past years is a mystery to me, I believe God has a plan for me. Hoping to hear from you. |

Usually, life changing opportunity does not come by more than once in life unless providence decides to give you another chance by mercy. Pray harder. It was a terrible blunder bro. I saw shege in the hands of friends. I met old friends who could very easily raise me but they just turned their face the other way. I maintained a very good relationship and contact with them and I find it hard to get why they behaved that way. But I know it is life. If I had excelled, I would have had them close to me and I would not have ever known they won't be there for me in times of need. The bright side of everything is it opened my eyes to human nature. That too is a form of wealth |

A friend from India (my MSc classmate in UK) particularly encouraged me to move to Canada as he was equally planning to move to Canada at the time. He successfully relocated to Canada afterwards and kept in touch with me via Facebook calls and occasional phone calls - encouraging me to do Express entry. I didn't understand the process at that time (2017), and even if I did, affording the cost of IELTS (50k) was a herculean task, as my take home pay was nothing to write home about. I had less than 40k left to saddle all home front expenditure after deducting my car loan then. Things were HARD! I bitterly regretted the move! I couldn't run anywhere for help. I couldn't even extend any money to my poor parents every month. I suffer no be small! No I mean you recent trip, is it still for study? |

Though I am from a humble background, I never knew failure. I excelled in about everything I tried. I was the best in the primary school, best in secondary, third best in university. Though my parents were not well to do, I aspired to study in UK and on my first trial, I got a scholarship! I won my MSc. scholarship four days after my NYSC POP. My UK supervisor told me to stay back and work with her while doing a PhD but I refused and came back. My problem was overconfidence in myself. I just believed I will get a good job in Nigeria without any challenge and after working a couple of years, I will go back for my PhD. After all, hings always work out for me. Kampack: This is 70% my story! Was also in the UK with scholarship up to PhD level! Foolishly came back to pick up a job in a federal university in Nigeria! The salary was paltry but I believed FG will fulfill its promises made to increase ASUU's salaries, and other allowances. Alas, none was fulfilled since 2013 till date. In 2020 and 2021 we embarked on a cumulative 20 months strike without salary! Not a kobo earned! Only God saw me through! My spouse wasn't working either! As if that was not enough, IPPIS was launched with inexplicable salary amputation every month! Throughout the job, I struggled to make ends meet with the miserable salary and lived a poverty stricken life. Nothing achieved in over 10yrs! I only recently borrowed money to japa! That country kills talents!
However my greatest regret remains not investing in bitcoin when it debuted in 2012 or so! Wish I poured my scholarship money into it and left it there all these years! My story would have been significantly different! Wow! I thought I was alone I. this boat. Did you travel out to study? |
