Properties / Re: Urgent! Should I Allow My Tenant Bury Her 1 Year Old Daughter In My Compound? by PROPEACE: 3:30am On Feb 21
DSS1335:
A very good young woman whom her husband abandoned last year lost her 1 year old child this morning. They jovial baby was very healthy on Sunday, by Monday morning, the baby was suffering from diarrhea and vomiting. According to the mum, she was prescribed pediatric antibiotic Amoxicillin along with antimalarial (Lonart susp), paracetamol syrup and Rophegan. I was alarmed on why she gave her child Rophegan 5ml, normally this antiemetic drug is not recommended for children under 2 years of age. Unfortunately this early morning the child was gasping for breath while crying loudly and died few hours later.

The issue now is that she is from far away east. She doesn't want to travel home. I have a very large space in my compound, and want to bury the child there. I consulted my kins, they objected it that I should never allow such to happen that it's against our tradition. That a child should be buried in his father's home or public cemetery. This tenant have already made up her mind to Park out few months after her rent expires due to the scandals of separating from her husband. Should I go ahead and allow her or alternatively raise funds for her to travel to the east to bury the child there. Though she isn't forthcoming with my alternative.

N/B
I am of Rivers state, Ikwerre to be precise, the lady from Umuahia

Update:
The mother of the lady came late in the afternoon from Abia state and pleaded I should allow them bury the baby in my compound. After considering some notable advice from here coupled with the warning from my kinsmen, I declined. The lady's mother contacted their branch pastor and they made arrangements to bury her in a place provided by their church. Later this evening the woman came back insulting my family that we are very wicked for not allowing their baby to be buried in my compound.
If not for the sympathy I had for the mother mourning her loss, I would have lost my cool.
This was the same woman responsible for the breakdown of her daughter's marriage. After marriage, she came to live with the new couple who parked into my apartment newly. Instigating her daughter against her husband. Using her daughter as a proxy to siphon off her husband's wealth, a Dubai-based businessman. Controlling the man forcefully, preventing him from socializing with others because of her insecurity complexes. The last straw that broke the marriage was when the lady and her mother teamed up to lock the husband indoors for 4 days and transferred all his money to the wife's account. That whenever he needs his own money, he should tell the wife. In short, the marriage broke down irreconcilably and the husband relocated to another state and never came back, he was neither interested in the child that was born 3 months after nor care to inquire about their wellbeing
If the bolded is true, the why did you refer to the woman as a very good woman in the opening paragraph?

Supremedrizzy:
Women can be really funny at times and take frivolous things serious. My girlfriend came around to stay with me for a while, so she was kinda of expecting that we would celebrate Val or stuff but unfortunately I am low on funds cos I just settled some bills earlier this month.

After work today, I just bought only 1k palm wine because we enjoy taking it together, but I observed she was a bit moody. I just faced my front cos I had just 5k on me and I still have about 2weeks to go till the next pay day so I am being very prudent with it.

She kept making side comments about how other ladies would be receiving gifts from their boyfriends by now and other sarcastic talks. She lager opened up this night about how today is her worst val ever and it's more of a haters day for her. I told her to calm down, after all we have celebrated Val for the past two years very well so she shouldn't be upset about us not going out today. She insisted that it's not about us going out but I couldn't even get her fish or meat, I simply told her that I can't afford anything now and she's been giving me the cold shoulder.
Shay you bought her palm wine? Even if you bought her fish or meat, she will ask why you didn't buy be aeroplane. Forget about her.

I modified my post. See above. It is not economic jargon, it is common sense. If my money can buy more in your house, I'd like your house and buy stuff from your house... until I realize I'm giving you all my money!
This thing you posted is nonsense. Nigeria isn't China. We produce close to nothing. It is a producing economy that can confidently crash it's currency. When you import almost everything, you don't want your currency to be weak. Simple!

Of course the law will make them the custodian of the kids, they will obtain child support from the poor husbands while they wickedly teach the kids to hate the dad when they grow. Do they want Africa nations to grow? They would say taxes would not allow development to take place. You now begin to wonder why UK use the weapon of taxes to run her economy. All the taxes you can think of comes from there. It's a case of double standard.
Well, even in times of economic robustness, there is a certain class of people that UK do not tax, because of how low they earn, and a certain group they tax up to 50% because of how high they earn. In Nigeria, the poor man is the one that bears the brunt. Nigeria has killed many upcoming businesses with multiple taxation while rich people litter the city of Abuja with houses that are empty. UK take care of their vulnerable citizens unlike motherland.

I thought I'm the only one that have noticed the pattern, these same institutions destroyed the Nigerian economy through the structural adjustment program (SAP) in the 90's and are doing the same thing now while our leaders fails to think.
You got it. SAP! Babangida may be forgiven for that blunder but after seeing what happened to us then, you will expect our leaders to always use it as a case study of what that silly IMF policy can do to a poor developing country, but for where! They just foolishly allow IMF do the thinking for them.

In summary, the IMF is asking Tinubu to increase government revenue by increasing existing taxes and introducing new ones? I'm asking because that's I infer from their comment about Nigeria having a low revenue to debt ratio.
Lol We may call the IMF evil, mean, inhumane etc but one thing I know they aren't is hypocritical. The IMF through out all times have never failed to give our leaders the same old wicked advice; remove subsidy, increase tax. The western countries that run the IMF don't follow that advice. Whenever there is a recession in Europe, the governments give unemployment benefits to their people, and council houses to their citizens who can't pay for accomodation. But to us, they advice us to withdraw such things, and in the midst of massive job losses, they always advice that we increase taxes. Quite strangely, our leaders never ever fail to follow that advice.

Lol look at them

This is why you 9-5 job workers should stick to civil service and farming and let capitalists run the economy .

You people from that side are naturally not entrepreneurs . You have no idea how to run a business , how will you run a country ?

Stick to your salary Jobs, you say no
Stick to farming , you say no
Stick to your carpentry and artisanal businesses. , you no gree .

You say you must run the country. Say you dey sophisticated. But you think a country can grow under a socialist system of welfare benefits , and government patronage and control . A palliative economy while free enterprise suffers .

Instead of turning the country into a production. base , na to dey shook eye for other people money. Is that the best you can do ? I dont blame you tho. You cannot give what you don’t have .

But go and do your research, those countries that went the way of Karl Max and Lenin , where dem dey now ?

Abi o! These people are playing the ostrich, burying their heads in the sand, refusing to stare at the glaring truth that is staring at them. You want to build your country's economy? PRODUCE! Don't eye the paltry sum that people in diaspora are sending, fu****g PRODUCE! Create a conducive environment for production to happen. Don't just create tailors, produce and process cotton! Don't just create carpenters, find sustainable ways to process wood into finished products like MDF and HDF which we consume in large quantities and most of which are imported from China. Meet the needs of your country and export, Africa is a big market, China, India, Europe, America are scrambling for it, beat them at that! That is how currencies gain value.
