Easyincome24: This is a good question, I will share from personal view as well as what my fellow e-hailers are doing.
1) I utilize a 4 plug engine car for this business to save cost but if yours is 6 plugs you are not at a disadvantage though.
2) Make sure your engine or other fuel associated parts are in good conditions too, cos some fuel mismanagement may be due to this fact too.
3) Your choice or ride pick matters too , it's not a must to go pick a rider whose destination away from you is 22 minutes yet his real travel time to where such rider book is 15 minutes. I do ensure to add both time it will take to reach rider and their final destination to know if it worths such price before picking. I won't be able to do this if I'm doing higher purchase or rental, desperation makes some people pick even the worst or weirdest trip.
4) Conserving fuel while alone, you don't want to consume your fuel without a trip. Sometimes you can pack at an eatery, chill there buy a soft drink or something that can afford you relaxing in such place till you get a trip. Don't sit in the car with full AC on. Know that you are also consuming the fuel.
5) Peak temperature periods, these hours from 9am - 5pm see most cars being hot internally due to rise in ambient temperature around 27-34 deg in must part. Note that traffic is also with those hours sometimes, I could decide to do few trips within these said periods but diligently hit the road from 6pm-9pm as I will need less AC or sometimes I crave the indulgence of my passenger that I won't be able to on the AC throughout except we hit a traffic cos of high cost of fuel. Most do cooperate while some tyrants ones do complain but we still head on.
I use Honda Accord 2009, full tank @ #169/litre costs me #11,500. With full tank, I make #85k-#95k though I get more than these sometimes when I get tipped by riders. So, let's do the maths.
#85,000-#11,500 = #73,500 (mind you, I sometimes blow free from some long distance when I'm tired or closing for the day. I'm not a full time driver)
Fuel Consumption Ratio : Revenue Ratio
11.5 : 73.5 or 1 : 6.4 (I understand when I'm below this ratio likewise when I'm above it. Wow!! Great value. Thanks for the details |

Crvrider: So how much dollar do you think we'll need to have as reserve before our naira can become valuable ? What's the bench mark for a "valuable" naira. The universal benchmark (quote authority) not crvdriver bench mark. Hopefully you will read your question again then revert to my earlier comment since I already provided answers Prosperity4All: It's called External Reserve. The more you have in your external reserve the stronger your local currency, in this case the Naira. |
Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Prosperity4All: 5:27pm On Jan 14, 2023 |
Crvrider: How will saving dollars strengthen your naira? Increase in demand for your naira ought to strengthen it. So, by asking buying countries to buy using naira increases demand for it there by increasing it's value. A simple search on why Kuwait's dinar is so strong returned this: see image. LOL, at the Google attachment. (AskGoogle clan) You asked "How will saving dollars strengthen your naira?" It's called External Reserve. The more you have in your external reserve the stronger your local currency, in this case the Naira. |

Crvrider: Really? But your country already exports crude, so why naira no strong? Which European country will by your refined fuel...gas may be! Not necessarily by selling... First, Nigeria will save billions of US dollars spent importing PMS that alone will strengthen the Naira Secondly, West African nations (Benin and more) will buy. And international trade is done in USD, so again their will be inflow of dollars to further strengthen the Naira. He is right. |

Business › Re: Filling Station Business by Prosperity4All: 11:55pm On Jan 11, 2023 |
Damolux01: Hello all...I have tried to search for a thread that talks about starting up or owing a filling station, but seem to find none, not even any that discusses the oil and gas business or sector. So, I have decided to create one so we can discuss the business together and assist one another to grow. I recently took up a family filling station on a lease for a period of eight( years. I do hope to learn from the gurus, who have been into it for years.
Location is Ile-Ife, Osun state. To the Newbie, Petrol stations are very profitable. So the simple question will be if it's so why are there always Stations being Sold/ leased. Like the one you are currently running, why didn't any of the family members source for loan to buy products and continue running the station. That said, there are a couple of critical factor in a filling Station's survival and profitability. Filling stations back in the days used to be a turnover business. Sources of income are from sales of Petrol, Diesel, Kerosene and Lube Oils and then Super Mart and Service center. But in recent times some station owners for years never sold a drop of Kerosene and Diesel and never bothered as long as they have Petrol to sell. WHY? The major product (and income source) we all know is Petrol. As of 1999/2000 mark-up per tanker was N49500 without fuel scarcity. This is in the regulated market where pump prices are set by DPR and uniform from one station to the other, from North to South. It was impossible getting rich overnight before the era of yearly fuel scarcity in the industry. Like other businesses, You have overheads to consider, Power ( generator), Salaries etc. The perennial scarcity, and stations selling at twice the recommended pump price gave rise to overnight wealth syndrome now enjoyed by Owners. So the food for thought or big question: in a fully deregulated market (where product is never scarce due to multiple sources from the numerous refineries coming on stream and competitive pricing where marketers will be lowering prices to attract customers) do you think Filling Station business would still be attractive? |

Take a look at mails in "Primary" and "Promotions" usually from same source. So it's just a glitch from Google algorithm, but that said you would still need to check that your mail don't contain keywords (like Sales, Promo, Discount) that trigger it being sent to Promotion. Adopt AkProsper suggested writing style for your first letter, then you can include link and price in subsequent replies. Hope this helps. |

I am looking to start a different business.i am not asking for much.I just need a business I can get 5k daily after subtracting the daily running cost of the business. Please guys if you are to make suggestion please make suggestions on a business you have a personal experience on. First what are your skill set. What are your hobbies Where are you located Then be careful jumping into Trending businesses. Even if they qualify as recession resilient type, their profit margin suffers diminishing returns when everyone jumps into like what happened with pure water production. Similarly betting shop was fantastic in 2012 but by 2017 ( when I closed mine) it was generating loses. Why will you go to a shop when you can book your games on your phone easily. Why will you go to a shop when you can't stop loss on shop ticket but you can when you book from your phone. Whereas in 2012 the reverse was the case? |

Okealaaye: The Man of the People of Biafra where the earth is red all the time! He's Igbo camouflage for the Biafran Dream. No one in the other parts of The Zoo can be convinced otherwise! But it's going to be a long trek to freedom for all the Know-alls and conceited loudmouths who were calling the Fatherland The Zoo and Shithole heretofore. May it never be okay with all the enemies of Nigeria who are now forming patriots and her most ardent lovers. But methinks I can see a reversion to the former hate-filled narratives and discourse about Nigeria, beginning from March 1st, 23! What sayest thou, Ikemefuna?
In any case, we Nigerians can see that Obi is Igbo project and he has successfully turned what used to be the Worker's party into Igbo political party. How many politicians and the so-called celebrities from the other parts of Nigeria are defecting or endorsing Labour Party for example? It is the same way Nnamdi Azikiwe appropriated the party, National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons, NCNC, as Igbo party after the death of the Yoruba founder, Herbert Macaulay in 1946. It's also the same way Nnamdi Azikiwe wrested the party, Nigerian Peoples Party, NPP, from its founder and financier, Alhaji Waziri Ibrahim, in 1978. So you see, history provides antecedents all the time. Labour Party is Igbo party, pure and simple. And there's no question about that! Let's assume all of the above isn't propaganda and poor Photoshop images you attached isn't to discredit a Man and party without FRAUD like APC and PDP; which of the candidates do you think can rescue Nigeria without worsening our image? Definitely not the Drug Lord with inconsistent names. Jesus Noooo So tell us |

Programming › Re: Guidelines For Making Software Development Easier by Prosperity4All: 4:36pm On Jan 07, 2023 |
Hello Nairaland,
Here are a few things that can be done to make learning software development easier.
Acquire Human Capital - Find a group of peers who are on the same journey, using the same technologies. - Grab a mentor who’s been where you are trying to go.
This can help you avoid many pitfalls, and put you on the fast track to understanding abstract concepts. The power of human capital is great for confidence building and extremely underrated.
However, be careful and take opinions of others with a grain of salt. Rules are meant to be bent if not broken, in the world of innovation. There are a lot of biased beliefs out there. This text included.
Choosing Your First Programming Language Your first programming language should be dependent on your first project.
If you want to be an iOS developer, your first language probably won't be JavaScript. Unless you want to waste your time.
All programming languages have strengths, weaknesses, and tradeoffs. No one language is better than any other in every situation or environment. Ensure you are using the right tool for the job.
A little research will reveal the most efficient language for your platform of choice.
Learning a second programming language will be easier after you have learned the fundamentals of your first.
Hands on Approach When learning a programming language, the best method is to get hands-on experience, applying what you’ve learned in the real world. Whether it’s to someone else’s pre-existing code, or your own from scratch.
Make a Plan Programming is hard. If you don’t have a plan. Break ideas and tasks down to small manageable comprehensible bite size pieces. You should sketch and write out drafts and solve problems on paper before firing up your IDE. Have access to relevant resource material, including human capital at the ready.
Minimal Viable Product - MVP Once you have an idea for a project, strip it down to its most simplest form. It can be so rewarding iterating additional features and improvement as you realize or learn new concepts.
Open Source Having a tough time initiating a project of your own? A great alternative could be to contribute to an open source project. There are thousands of Git repositories springing up everyday within online communities.
Git platforms: GitHub GitLab Bitbucket
Immerse Yourself I find it most efficient to grasp an understanding of concepts by using multiple learning techniques.
Example: Studying from a book in conjunction with following along with videos, online courses, podcasts, and using the power of human capital. Also teaching others what you have come to understand can help you retain knowledge faster, longer, and easier. As I am doing here.
You have to fully immerse yourself in the art and culture of software development.
Books Skimming a few chapters in these books helped facilitate my understanding of the scope of a great programmer.
The Pragmatic Programmer: From Journeyman to Master by Andrew Hunt Clean Code: A Handbook of Agile Software Craftsmanship by Robert C. Martin The Programmer’s Brain by Felienne Hermans
Software Developers Are Artist After displaying an incredible amount of resilience and patience. Most likely during a process known as refactoring. You may come to the revelation that code itself can be beautiful. And in fact what you are creating is, Art.
Warmest regards,
Metajinn Great guide!! |

CheerfulGiverr: I only have one prayer this 2023.... That foolish people who believe they are big boys, bigger than drivers, who say they make more money than drivers, can just leave this thread for drivers alone.
Nobody is dragging wealth with you. I don't understand how they have so much money and at the same time so jobless to have time to troll on a thread for uber drivers, mocking them.
That stupidity should have ended yesterday.
For new drivers and people resigning their stupid 200k naira a month jobs, to come join real hustling, I say welcome to the club. Many goats will discourage you, mock you, laugh at you on this thread. Don't lose your focus. For a fact, none of those goats can 1. Find you a better job, 2. Dash you ordinary 5k.
Therefore, in 2023, whenever such idiots appear to bring you down, use your God given middle finger, and tell them to fuck_off. They tried it with me, and it didn't work. If it didn't work on me, it won't work on you... Say amen.
Now, go back to your drawing board, and plan your 2023. Your life is in your hands. AMEN!! God bless you |
