FamilyRe: This Married Woman Needs Your Advice by Prosperity4All: 9:18pm On May 16, 2023
Fineman2:
My name is Funsho. I am 35 years old. My husband and I have been married for six years and we have a son together. Two years ago, my job transferred me to Abuja. Since my husband and son are in Lagos, I come home at the end of every month.

My husband was in total support because the transfer came with a better salary and a senior position. I love and trust my husband so much, however I really don't know what he thinks of me. I was able to save up last year, and since we are still in a rented apartment

I sent him the money to get us a landed property so we can start building our home. Since, I trusted him so much, I didn't even ask him for the evidence of payment, he only sent me the pictures. I recently came home as usual and while I was arranging the house, I stumbled on the documents and deeds of agreement for the land. I got the shock of my life when I discovered that it was only my husband's name that was written.

He didn't deem it fit to include my name or simply buy it in our son’s name, he bought the land in his name with my hard earned money. I couldn't hide my disappointment, so I asked him. In his defence, he said he bought it in his name because he is the man and he didn't think I would read so much meaning to it since we are married. This has given me a lot of sleepless nights and I find it really hard to believe he could do this to me.

Please, is this something I should be worried about or am I just overreacting? Advise me.
What's important is that he used the money for the exact purpose it was provided.
The document can still be reproduced with only your name if you so wish. But note that it won't stop a fraudster from selling the land without your consent.
Under our customary law, if your Son is your husband's 1st then your Son inherits the said land . But what you really need is to run to God and ask Him for another pregnancy and it must be a Boy grin

When chips are down, your husband won't be the problem but rather your in-laws irrespective of whose name is on that document .

Soil test result is out.... In the result, soil pH is 5.5, meaning no need to lime... pH lower than 5 will lock nutrient from the maize which will result in poor yield.... The Nitrogen level is medium, phosphorus is low, which is expected because kogi state soil is naturally deficient in phosphorus... Potassium level is medium.
So the Eleme petrochemical soul lab can go to any part of Nigeria from Rivers to perform test?

The only difference between these two countries is that Nigeria has oil and they don't have , even if they have, it's not to be compared with that of Nigeria.

those doing legit business have no problem of any sort and the government are there to protect you.
My dear, you said it all and captured the real essence in the bolded.
Benin recently started exploring their oil in the gulf of Guinea so we can expect to see more advancement in the "small" country soon.

Thing with this manufacturing thing is it depends on the type of business he does/did, and how feasible local manufacturing would have been. For some businesses it's easy, and for others it isn't so easy, and one can understand the problem but the condition to implement the solutions he wants to effect are just not possible.

There are several things that can be produced locally, but conditions to make local production possible are just not there...that could be the case with Peter Obi, and it's also possible that this consumption to production philosophy that's his mantra is one he's come to realize as a solution to our problems over time. You can't compare Peter Obi the 28-35 year old hustler to Peter Obi the 60 year old plus man, the way they'd see the world would be very different.
Well, truth be told Obi has businesses that produce in Nigeria and market across west Africa.
While I do not know all his businesses because the man is just not loud, I remember that leading up to the elections, even here on Nairaland, people tried to make mockery of his ownership of Hero beer. Which they forgot is owned by the same Holding company, Sab Miller, which produces Grand malt also. It's actually Sab Miller that Obi is involved in.
So I ask is Hero beer, Grand malt not produced in Nigeria since around 2003 .

Bros, i don't want to make excuses for him. If men that are very low in wealth can produce, i don't see why a billionaire can't

Obi was a big importer. Can you list what he specialised on, and check if it can't be produced?

One thing you should know is that Importation is the easiest way to wealth, and that is what Obi, and many other billionaires settle for

For me, he is not fit to propel the gospel of local production.

My opinion, though
Every Entrepreneur goes into business for Profit and not social welfare as you suggest Mr Obi should. LOL, Nigerians.
As an MD you report to a Board of Directors and your duty is to return the highest dividends for their investments.
Obi as an astute Entrepreneur will not suggest to his Enemy to invest in Producing in Nigeria with a hostile business environment using always increasing diesel prices to generate electricity for yourself when you could pay 100 times less for electricity and production cost with your base in Ivory Coast that has stable power supply for ages despite coming out of a bloody Civil war just about 20 years ago.
While Michelin and many other Global conglomerates are selling their Nigerian assets and moving to Ghana and smaller neighboring countries to produce and sell to the Nigerian market, you expect Obi to do the reverse, huge joke.

Before you ask me why he now "Propels the Gospel of Local Production"
Did you choose to forget that Obi earlier propelled the gospel of massively increasing power generation with details of his study and strategy to achieve same. It's on this foundation he can now advice anyone and even the companies that have left Nigeria to return their production plants to Nigeria.

You can't just trade anywhere in London or New York. That's a lie. The problem in Nigeria is that anyone thinks that they can set up and start trading anything they want, anywhere that they want. In the aforementioned cities you need a license to be a street trader, a license to trade in the market and the areas are clearly delineated. In Nigeria someone post up outside of your home to be selling market.
So who is now lying...you or me.
I said you need to get your Operations Permit then you trade freely but you called it licence.

Nija don cast before you comot, that much you know.
So the question you should be asking yourself is what has improved on the economic front necessitating relocating back. Is Electricity now Bette in Nigeria than Ghana compared to when you left.
But, just one year ago, if you asked me I would definitely have told you Don't Go To Ghana.

What you need to do now is seat your Ass in one place and acquire a skill that is in growing demand before any movement. The video editing you mentioned is good and there is so much you can do with even for yourself. It can get you a job any day anytime. I am even on the lookout for those to work with me on some projects because my hands are getting over-full. You can work from anywhere, and 247 electricity is important so consider it while you move.

Regards relocation again, I hear living cost are damn expensive in Ghana. Maybe consider other West-African countries with lower cost and stable light.

Really nice of you to assume that I haven't visited any of these African shithole countries before grin grin grin.
But of course that assertion is correct. Visiting countries while onboard a ship doesn't allow you experience it. It's like me saying I have visited France and Ethiopia because I transit through them frequently in my trips and spent hours there per trip. But do I know or experienced the country, definitely no.
The Op opened a thread for people to give their experience about things in countries they visited but lacking in Nigeria and he opened the floor giving examples from his experience. Jumping to say he's Capping/ lies is silly especially without giving your own on the ground experience then we can see how yours differs. Reeling out LinkedIn statistics which is skewed is never a substitute for in-person experience. Like you think all the Jobs people pick in the UK appear on the Job bank how much more LinkedIn.

In response to Op, I would say from Bénin Republic to South Africa, England (even rural parts not just London) to New York same things I experienced that lack in Nigeria are:
-Absence of Police harrasment (though in New York if you are a young person of colour driving an expensive car like mercedes, you can expect to be stopped by a Police patrol to see if you deal in drugs. But not like been slapped for not opening your phone as in dear own Nigeria)
- Constant Electricity, No Generator noise
- Traffic orderliness, no one-way driving by Police, Army and Touts who have settled police
- Ease of doing Business. You can do your street trading without harrasment just pay whatever operations permit to City council and you are good to go. There's all sorts of Street trading in Brooklyn, USA to London. But you can't try same in Nigeria without stories of occasional loss of your goods to agents of government.
-Clean environment. If Cotonou can do it, why not Port-Harcourt. Need not mention the stench of urine all-over Lagos. You need to pay N200 to use the urinary at the Oshodi BRT terminal. So now you know why you can't breathe while you walk through Oshodi.
-Security. Of course you can sleep with your two eyes closed unlike in Nigeria. That's not to say there are no pockets of crime in Jo'burg or London but crazy Kidnapping and Herdsmen, gush and you still think you have a country.
-Nightlife culture. Great for businesses, still thrives in these countries but try at your imminent risk in Nigeria. Even in Lagos besides around Ikoyi, I am not sure I would be outside beyond 11pm. But upto 2006 in Port-Harcourt 12 midnight is the earliest I would leave the bar. Nice memories from D-line to Evo. Ànd same for Abuja (Otako, Lugbe). Go try am now!

EDITED to add again: The DRC government banned the practice last year commonly in Eastern part.
Thanks for lending some research to this topic.
Though some persons above have already witnessed that such is also practiced in Nigeria, albeit not common.
Another reason why this isn't a common practice in Nigeria is that in the richer Southern hemisphere of Nigeria we respect the Dead more than the Living. While in the poorer Northern parts where this would have been sure, they hardly use morgues as they bury same day.

THE UNDERRATED COTONOU

Since I was born till date, we Nigerians have always looked down on a lot of neighboring countries like Cameroon, Togo, Benin Republic etc.
Well, you are not to be blamed if you are among those who look down on some of these countries, even when we have not had an opportunity to cross border.

Well I was one of those people who actually looked down on most of these countries until I had an opportunity to sail round west Africa and the narratives changed.

Meanwhile I was completely marvelled the first time I visited Cotonou, the business hub of Benin Republic about 4 years ago when Patrice Talon newly took office
Two years after I re-visited, after touring round other west African countries. I spent 3 days here and without a waste of time, I concluded to relocate down to this place based on the level of development I saw, the security, serenity etc.

Finally I am now living here and I have no regret so far.

I will say this country is blessed with the best president who is working tirelessly to improve the living conditions of his beloved citizens and I am glad hearing citizens saying positive things about the president.

Things You Don't Know About Benin Republic...

*They have currently have one of the best roads/road network in west Africa
* The maintain law and order
* Security is good
* Security personnels are friendly and don't intimidate anyone. If caught intimidating you, he or she will severely be punished
" If you are caught in a robbery attack which involves gun, forget it, u are gun forever.
* Electricity is 247. No low voltage or unecessarily interruptions.
* Steady clean water supply by the government at an affordable rate
* 247 transport system cos of good security
* Night life is topnotch.. in fact their balling na night with street light almost every nook and cranny of the city.
* Amazing beaches with super duper fun.
* Nice Bilingual schools for your kids
*Stress free movement without traffic jam.
* Policemen scattered at every nook and cranny of the town to maintain law and order and not for stop and search.
* Drugs are only bought or sold at a registered pharmacies and not from quacks or roadside vendors
* Foreigners almost have same right with citizen and can't be treated anyhow
*Women are like egg here. Any maltreatment or mistreatment, you will face the law.
*Public school, go to sch by 7:30am and return home for break by 12noon and return back to school by 3pm to dismiss between 6-7pm Monday- Friday
* You can choose to relocate from your rented apartment after a month or two cos of the privilege of monthly payment plan
* Their money now more valuable than naira in black market
*This is the only safe transit route coming from other African countries to Nigeria. Of course you should know how that helps an economy.
*Internet is steady and fast but a bit expensive
*Pepper body no common here like naija
* ETC

Business Opportunities
From My Findings So Far...

*Tailoring is a place to explore especially when you sew English wears and Nigerian attires
* Sales of any kind of electronics which you can bring from Nigeria and Togo cos they are cheaper over there and expensive here.
* Sales of second hand phones and laptops, not forgetting their accessories too. Very lucrative
* Nigerian foods are in high demand especially areas where Nigerians live more. U go sell tire
* Sales of sewing machines(more of manual)and it's accessories are in high demand cos this is their major skill work with hairdressing.
* Phone and laptop repairs needs serious attention here cos most of the engineers are not competent enough
* Sales of motor parts/bike parts. Both are very good biz here too.
* Bilingual schools are still in high demand in some places including teachers.
* Transportation biz- As a naija man, u will do better plying from border to town, if you are a smart. As an okada rider, concentrate around Tokpa, Misebo and Beach, you will be fine too.
Those who are into okirika(2nd clothes, shoes & bags), it's still very profitable till date but you must have a good contact for you not to be cheated.
Etc

Let me drop my pen here for now. I will be sharing some photos of the places I have been to like the beaches etc . So stay tuned as we will be dropping more information to give you a comprehensive info about the country generally.

What type of investment can one do to earn at least 7 percent of the capital in a month. low risk all so.
Main objective (7% ROI Monthly): ie N7k monthly for every N100k invested
Some essential consideration will be:
1. Risk affinity (LOW)
2. Investible Amount
3. Level of Awareness
4. Your Interest (very important)

The interest margin (over 80% p.a) you desire is off-limits to Nigerian Banks and Financial institutions.
But no doubt you can achieve more than 10 % in plenty of legit businesses. For example, Ehailing if you want brick and mortar or Affiliate marketing if you prefer online business that can be done remotely from any location.
For affiliate business your capital will typically go into running Ads.
