Devastated why? You sound like he's a criminal or a demon. You and your family will have to learn how to accept that side of him, show him love and protect him by not outing him to people you know till he's ready to do so himself.

Let me add this, being effeminate as a young male child doesn't mean one has a tendency of being gay. Most gays I know were very masculine when they were young.
