psalm121vs1: Hey Guys,
So I've been frustrated for a while now with how prices differ everywhere in Nigeria. Like, I could buy rice for ₦60k in Lagos and my guy in Kano is paying ₦45k for the same thing. How is that even possible? 😅
So I built an app called PriceSquad. Basically you can: - Check prices of stuff across different states - Submit prices you paid for things - See what's actually going on in the market
It's pretty simple. You download, you check prices, you make smarter buying decisions. Its on Google Play Store. It's got like 90+ items (rice, beans, fuel, phones, cement, all that). All 36 states too.
Right now it's just the app with basic features. But I'm planning to add more stuff based on what people actually want.
If anyone wants to check it out and tell me what they think, would really appreciate the feedback. You can download it on Google Play - just search "PriceSquad".

What do you guys reckon? Is this something useful or nah?

Prices in Nigeria are honestly becoming difficult to track.
You can buy something today and next week the price is completely different depending on the area or seller.
Sometimes two people in the same city buy the same thing at completely different prices.
I recently came across an app called PriceSquad on playstore that shows prices people are paying for things like:
* Rice * Petrol * Cement * Phones
across different states in Nigeria.
What I found interesting is that people can also submit prices themselves, so the information updates constantly.
Honestly feels useful especially with how unstable prices are these days.
What do you guys think about something like this? |

Politics › Abia Workers Never Had It So Good – State Negotiating Council by psalm121vs1(op): 9:46am On Jun 12, 2025 |
The State Public Service Negotiating Council (Council 1), Trade Union Side, Abia State, has commended Governor Alex Otti for his administration’s worker-friendly policies, noting that the welfare of Abia workers has significantly improved under his leadership. In a Democracy Day goodwill message signed by Comrade Sunday Agoha (Chairman, Council 1) and Comrade Okoye Iloabuchi P. (Secretary, Council 1), the Council praised Governor Otti for clearing salary and pension arrears amounting to over N40 billion within two years and ensuring prompt and regular salary payments. According to the Council, Abia workers have never had it this good, attributing the positive change to the Governor’s prioritization of workers’ welfare and digitization of government operations for improved efficiency. The Council also applauded the Otti administration for initiating the construction and equipping of Smart Schools across the 17 Local Government Areas, a move it described as a legacy project that will ensure quality education for both current and future generations of Abians. On infrastructure, the Council noted what it termed “an unmatched revolution” in road rehabilitation, citing the reconstruction of the long-abandoned 41.4km Ohafia–Arochukwu Road, as well as work on the Umuahia–Uzuakoli–Abiriba–Ohafia Road and Port Harcourt Road, among others. In the area of security, the introduction of the Operation Crush joint task force was also lauded for contributing to improved safety across the state. However, while acknowledging the Governor’s achievements, the Council made a number of appeals. These include: Accelerated promotion and clearance of outstanding promotion arrears by the fourth quarter of 2025. Quarterly skills upgrade programs for civil servants on Grade Levels 07–17. Development of 5,000 affordable housing units for workers. Approval of a 40% transport allowance to cushion the impact of fuel subsidy removal. Sustenance of regular salary and pension payments. Expansion of subsidized healthcare services for government employees. Equitable job opportunities to encourage youth participation in governance. Strengthening of civil service cooperative societies for financial empowerment. The Council reaffirmed its support for Governor Otti’s administration and called on the Governor to sustain the momentum of reforms aimed at enhancing the quality of life for Abia workers and residents. https://nationalambassadorngr.com/abia-workers-never-had-it-so-good-state-negotiating-council/ |

rxmusa: Election Updates...
1. Peter Obi wins "Tinubu's" Lagos. But you are still saying INEC is rigging for Tinubu just so that when Tinubu wins Katsina, you will say it was rigged.
Oh wait. Atiku won Katsina, Buhari's State.
So really how many persons do you want to accuse INEC of rigging for? Why not accept where your candidate lose?
2. So Obi can win Lagos, it is not rigging. But Amoda Ogunlere cannot win Osun that you said he is from, it is rigging.
Oh wait. Tinubu did not even win Osun. Atiku did. So what are you saying please? You thought Obi will win Osun??
3. Obi went to Kano and went straight to Sabon Gari where you have Igbos and minority Christians.
That is the divisive campaign Obi ran yet you will shout rigging if Tinubu wins Kano.
Oh wait. It is Kwankwaso that is winning Kano despite being an enemy of the sitting APC Governor!
Again, what are you saying
4. In the South East where Obi is from, Obi is winning by 90%
In the South West where Tinubu is from, Obi has won Lagos, Atiku took Osun. But when Tinubu takes Ekiti, it is rigging.
What is wrong with you guys?
5. Obi is winning in Edo State. If you add PDP and APC votes and times it by 2, Obi is still winning. This is a State where there is a PDP Governor and a Former APC National Chairman.
But it is rigging anywhere Obi is not winning. How can a people be this bigoted?
6. I have read, on WhatsApp, people saying they will poison food and give to Northerners for not voting Obi.
I have read people here saying they will never give a Northern beggar any money for not voting Obi.
Meanwhile Obi is clearing the South South and South East and Northerners are not threatening anyone. And you will call them uncivilized?
7. An unknown Labour party candidate for House of Rep, defeated the APC and PDP to win Etin-Osa Fed. Constituency in Lagos.
The APC guy was Obanikoro's son. The PDP guy was Banky W the musician. Both floored by a Labour party candidate people didn't know.
But the election was rigged is coming from the mouth of Labour party supporters.
8. Another unknown Labour party candidate defeated the APC and PDP in the major Senatorial Election in Edo.
The gap was almost 200%. If you add the PDP and APC votes together, the unknown Labour candidate still beat them with over 50k votes and these were not small candidates. They are the two most influential people in Benin!
But Labour Party supporters are still shouting rigging, failed election. Does this make sense
9. Obi is heading to 500,000 votes in Enugu. Whereas Tinubu has less than 5,000 votes in the whole Enugu.
This is not rigged, but wherever Tinubu wins is rigged.
10. Atiku's VP is the GOVERNOR of Delta State.
In Delta State, Obi has won 11 out of the 16 Local Government Areas annoinced so far.
But his supporters are still shouting the election is rigged. Is that not madness?
NB: If you cause the war you are using to bully everyone we will all suffer it. Pat Utomi that is encouraging you will carry his oyinbo face and seek asylum somewhere in America or Europe where he will collect cool breeze and return after your demise to claim hero of democracy. Use sense. Eseoghene Faruq No 6 is completely wrong bro. Igbos are not that bitter and won't poison anyone. We are want a better country. If yemi osibanjo contested against orji uzor kalu. Politics › Niger State Begins Indefinite Strike by psalm121vs1(op): 8:52am On Dec 02, 2020 |
As Niger State sets out for it's indefinite strike today, we want the whole world to know the reason for this action and not count it as an insensitivity on the part of Organized Labour. While the state civil servants are still smarting from the slashed June salary and being the most underpaid workers in the country. The government went ahead to buy brand new SUVs worth about 36 million naira for it's commissioners. It should also be on record that the state has not employed anyone into its civil service for the past ten years and the new minimum wage approved by the Federal government is not fully implemented in Niger State and as it stands now, a director in Niger state civil service earns less than 80 thousand in a month. If this is not murder by starvation and suppression, we beg for a term to give to this treatment by the government. Fellow Nigerians,we beg for your intervention both spiritual and physical in this deliberate holocaust being perpetrated by the government of Niger State to its citizens. *Restructuring: The North, The South And Nigeria’s Future.*

CLEM AGUIYI July 7, 2020.
Give it to the North, they get what they want at every turn while the South do the talking. Most radical ideas that had shaped Nigeria’s political landscape often originated from the South only to be perfected to advantage by the North.
For instance, while the South championed the struggle for independence, the North acted like she wasn’t ready and would rather remain under British domination. But from when the British lowered the Union Jack, it was the North that had dominated the South and still do.
Another is the idea of military coup. It was actually Southern officers that executed Nigeria’s first military coup before the North perfected the art of coup plotting and used it to entrench Northern domination.
Almost all successful coups in Nigeria were hatched and executed by Northern officers from 1966 to date. Again, Nigeria started well on federalism until some group of Southerners introduce unitary government.
The North shouted ‘Araba’ the Hausa translation for ‘separation’ and insisted on true federalism. But as soon as it seized power in the counter coup of 1966, it jettisoned true federalism and perfected unitarianism to her advantage.
Today, it is the South who destroyed federalism that is shouting true federalism. Take again the question of constitutional democracy. This is a concept alien to both Islam and the oligarchy.
While the South talks plenty of democracy, the North which only reluctantly embraced democracy perfected the act of shaping democracy to its own advantage. Because the North understands that democracy is a game of numbers they made sure they have the numbers and a population they can easily manipulate and control.
They control their population with illiteracy and religion and make no apology for it. One can go on and on to list how the North beat the South at all times in its game.
Whether as a friend or a foe you must understand your opponent so as to engage properly. The inability of the South to read the North is one of her biggest albatrosses. Fast track to the current issue of restructuring, another idea currently advanced by the South as a remedy to save Nigeria from disintegration.
The Southern proponents of restructuring believe that Nigeria is not functioning properly because the centre is saddled with too many responsibilities and powers. Restructuring means devolving more powers to the states.
Despite the clarity of this concept, somehow the North pretends it does not understand what restructuring is all about. To get the South busy with talking, they pretend that restructuring will put her at a disadvantage or to say the least that it is an agenda to dismember Nigeria. For these reasons, many Southerners have wrongly convinced themselves that the North will never give in to restructuring whereas the North in actual fact is getting ready for restructuring and once again intends to perfect it to their advantage.
The import of this article is to warn the South to get ready and prepare for restructuring. The British who merged the North and South together has not abandoned the reason for the merger.
They remain very sympathetic to the North hence western leaders like Gordon Brown, Tony Blair and John Kerry had at various times tutored the Northern leaders on how to reorganize the region for a post oil economy.
Between 2015 and 2016, the US Institute for Peace had held series of strategy sessions strictly for Northern leaders on how best to prepare and re-energize the region for a post oil economy.
The sessions agreed that restructuring is inevitable without which even the North will not survive.
The sessions harped on what the vulnerabilities of the northern region would be when restructuring occurs and more importantly how to ensure that such vulnerabilities are dealt with well before restructuring. One major vulnerability is the fact that the North is landlocked hence they were advised that the region would need alternative international trade access routes that do not depend on the South.
This explains why President Buhari commenced building the ongoing high-speed railway lines designed to connect with the Niger Republic’s supply and logistics systems.
They were also advised that they needed to be independent of the South for petroleum products hence they went ahead with the project of building a completely new modern refinery in Daura, Katsina State.
The Daura refinery is purposely built to refine crude oil coming in from Niger Republic. The choice of Daura as a location is to reduce the cost of pipelines, as piping to the Kaduna refinery would have been very expensive. Daura shares a common border with Niger Republic.
Another major vulnerability is the fact that a significant proportion of Nigeria’s power generation and infrastructure is located in the South. It was suggested that the North would need to rebalance power generation, if it was to industrialize.
It is therefore not surprising that contracts have been awarded to pipe gas from the South to pass through Ajaokuta to Abuja, Kaduna, and Kano (AKK) where three thermal stations will be built in each of the three cities with capacity to generate 4,500MW of electricity.
While at the face value this project may appear good for Nigeria which can now export excess electricity to other African countries, the main objective however is to make the North electricity sufficient, and under restructuring will make the South to pay charges for passing power from any of the thermal stations.
The North is also investing heavily in agriculture with a view to be in a position to not just feed her population but to export food to the South and other African countries. Only the South can solve its problem with regards to food. A lot can be learnt from Israel if it must readdress the food imbalance.
To boost agriculture, President Buhari did what no other government in Nigeria has been able to do.
He closed the land borders, and presented farmers with a great windfall. Massive incentives were provided to motivate Northern farmers. Northern farmers, who work through cooperatives, were provided with machinery and low interest loans through the CBN and the Bank of Agriculture to help stabilize the level of growth in agriculture.
I have taken time to reel out these few examples to debunk the laughable notion held by the South that the North will not give in to structuring. That is far from the truth. The North understands restructuring perfectly well and their vulnerabilities in case of restructuring.
The North is light years ahead of the South in their proactive preparations. I support restructuring for the singular reason that it will make Nigeria better than its current form. It will bring government closer to the people, enhance development and ensure efficient and effective governance.
Rather than being emotional and wasting valuable time on empty rhetoric, the best legacy Southern leaders can leave behind is to put on their thinking caps and get to work. They must use the opportunity of the current time to map out strategies that will rave and drive the economic and social development of the South post oil revenue.
The youth who are the future of tomorrow must understand that the future they symbolize and represent is now.
The only practical way they can be part of that future is to hold her elected political leaders accountable by making every single one of them and their families uncomfortable until the right things are done.
https://www.newtelegraphng.com. And I hope the current banditry, insurgency, poverty and restiveness are all part of your chess strategy. The north did not perfect anything, they just don't value human life like other regions do. Nzegowu started the coup, gowon from plateau(middle belt) countered, Agiuyi ironsi bleeped up, Ojukwu seceded and a civil war broke out, Biafra lost, and the power has actually rotated. |

Politics › Faceless Contractor Got N7bn Road Contract, Says Makinde by psalm121vs1(op): 8:12pm On Jul 08, 2019 |
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has alleged that a contractor with untraceable office address was awarded the Moniya-Iseyin road for N7billion by the immediate past administration. According to him, N2billion out of the total contract sum was paid to the contractor, who he described as ‘faceless’. The governor added that his assessment of the job done so far on the site would barely pass for N150million. Makinde spoke after taking a tour of the road leading to the Pacesetter Quarry and Asphalt plant, located at Km 25, Moniya-Iseyin Road, Ojedeji Village in Akinyele Local Government Area for an assessment of the plant. The governor lamented that the road which serves as the economic route for farm and agricultural produce into the state could be abandoned after the contractor collected N2 billion, with little or nothing to show for it on the project site. He said his effort at locating the site address of the contractor to interact with them on the level of work done despite the amount of money released, revealed that the office address was not traceable and the name faceless. Makinde said: “My impression of the work done so far if I will have to evaluate and cost it, it couldn’t have been more than N150million that I will spend on it. “It was a faceless contractor and we don’t even know where their offices are located. I could have stopped by to go and discuss with them, but there is nowhere to stop by.” On the quarry and asphalt plant, which has been abandoned in the past eight years, Makinde expressed disappointment that the project that could have fetch the state some revenue was left unattended to due to political difference. The asphalt plant was established during the tenure of Senator Rashidi Ladoja, but could not attract any partner under the proposed Public-Private Partnership agreement. The inspection, according to the governor, was targetted at reviving the facility in order to reduce the money spent on road projects by the state government. “What we will do is that we will look at what has gone on it through the files, but it is a shame that we have an asset like this and it was just allowed to rot because of political considerations. And we will have to send people here to check the integrity of what we have here and quickly see what we can do because we are buying a whole lot of asphalt from other places for road maintenance agencies. “What we came to do is to check the integrity of the plant. Sometimes, it may be better to start something from the start, if we cannot bring this back to life, but the concept was well thought of and the state government has been buying asphalt from the third party, so we might as well put this back to life,” the governor said. https://arewagists..com/2019/07/faceless-contractor-got-n7bn-road.html |
