Car Talk / Re: My Experience Travelling With An IVM Vehicle.. by PtitLapin(f): 5:21pm On Aug 21, 2018 |
Why are people crying all over this thread? I don't get it. Same people bitching about IVM will say that Nigeria doesn't produce anything, same people will bitch that Nigeria is underdeveloped, same people will complain that there are no jobs in Nigeria, same people will spend millions importing cars and then whine and complain when customs is demanding for more money... whining and bitching ad nauseam. If all you are going to do is sit on your behinds, twiddle your thumbs and dole out criticism, then you don't deserve any of the things you are asking for. If all you do is bitch and whine, you deserve a shitty Nigeria. Build your own car (in a country like Nigeria, where every freaking thing is an obstacle to innovation) or at least buy and test an IVM car and then I will listen to your critique. Freaking tired of the crabs in a barrel attitude that black people have. How many of the people crying in this thread have actually bought or driven IVM? Jeez. As for me, I support any product compiled, designed, cooked, fried, assembled, created, authored and made in Nigeria. And if it is shitty I will give a constructive review, which the company may or may not take into consideration. Key word here is constructive. If IVM succeeds, we all succeed. It's a win for Nigeria. Standards can only improve if we first create things, try them, review them and then demand for improvements. But no, you guys want to wake up and be Japan. It doesn't work like that. Your favorite German and Japanese automobiles still have major automobile recalls due to automobile defects so I don't get this extremely judgmental attitude towards IVM, IVM was born only a few years ago. 3 Likes |
Politics / Re: "Nigeria Is Better Without The Igbos" - Alaba Ajibola, Babcock University Staff by PtitLapin(f): 2:58pm On Aug 19, 2018 |
The antagonism between Igbos and yorubas is the most pointless and most stupid one I have ever seen. There's really nothing to be antagonistic about. False animosity created by jobless people. The enmity is not real folks, it is fabricated by people who do not want the South and East to come together for their development and advancement. Only jobless and ignorant people spread this narrative of enmity and strife. The enemy of yoruba people, igbo people and every other ethnic group in Nigeria is illiteracy, poverty, religion and corruption. If you idiots can just see the bigger picture and focus on what our real problems are!!! We should be focusing this hatred on those who want to encourage grazing reserves, those who stole pension funds, those who did carry out their responsibility towards their various constituents, Boko Haram, those murderers masquerading as cattle rearers, those who have ruined our education system, those ruining our economy, those who practice nepotism and discrimination while in power, those who keep sabotaging our power sector, those who use religion to instigate genocide and hatred, etc. We collectively have way too many problems to be caught up in the pettiness of tribalism. 2 Likes |
Politics / Re: A Lot Of Nigerian Youths Haven’t Been To School — Buhari Tells Commonwealth by PtitLapin(f): 7:48pm On Apr 18, 2018 |
President Buhari is trash. Anyone who supports President Buhari is trash. All the young people around me are hustling, running multiple businesses to make ends meet. Nigerians provide their own electricity, water, healthcare, etc and don't even hold the government accountable for half of the things they should. I don't know anyone who is lazy and doing nothing, except the uber-rich hausa/fulani youth in Abuja who sit around all day doing nothing and the almajiris who refuse to get educated and work for a wage. These two types are the youth he should be referring to. Fricking parasites. What does President Buhari's daughter do for a living again? What does his son do for a living? Please tell me because I don't know. If you want to shade the entire youth of your country, better keep some for your own children and your entire region. Talk about being out of touch. As a young hard-working Nigerian, you are a dunce if you vote for this pile of poo. Period. We need to take the trash out in 2019. It is enough. I don't normally talk with strong words but President Buhari is the gift that keeps on giving and I am tired of it. 3 Likes |
Politics / Re: Laolu Akande Asks Nigerians To Name Road Projects Completed In Last 10 Years by PtitLapin(f): 4:19pm On Mar 01, 2016 |
Can APC PLEASE focus on the work ahead? I don't care whether so and so only reconstructed old roads or whatever. I care about here and now. We need good roads now, we need electricity now, we need to diversify our economy now, and so on... NOW! These fools haven't done anything but spend the whole time whining and complaining. PLEASE build new roads if the other administrations didn't. I don't even know why this conversation is happening. APC, get off your asses and get to work, the country is in a mess!!! I feel like slapping all these fools arguing here. Nigeria is a mess and all you can do is argue about petty, inconsequential crap. If you care about the future of the country and the conditions your children will live in, you will not waste precious time stupidly. The vice president is sounding like such a baby. You know why the past administration casts such a long shadow on this administration? Because APC refuses to move on and begin their job. Are you still campaigning FOOLS. Do the work and then compare yourself with past administrations... capisce? 3 Likes |
Politics / Re: Why Yoruba Prefer Alliance With North – Adefuye by PtitLapin(f): 3:00pm On Feb 14, 2016 |
It is funny and sad to see people pick sides based on ethnicity and at the same chant One Nigeria. You can't eat your cake and have it. It is either you treat every Nigerian as equal or you don't. Reading this article and indeed the comments section is evidence that Nigeria is not one. We can't be one if we continue dividing ourselves based on ethnicity, religion, etc. I wish it was possible for all Nigerians to see the significance of Nigeria in this world. We have the highest population of black people in the world. We would be such a force to reckon with in this world, if only we can let go of deeply rooted biases, blind religion, ethnic discrimination and oppression of many by a few. I love Nigeria but I fear that One Nigeria might not be attainable. We lack the cohesion and coordination to achieve One Nigeria. A lot of people hoped Buhari would be the leader whose character would give Nigeria cohesion. However, Nigeria is even more divided now on party lines, religious lines, ethnic lines, regional lines... the list goes on. We need cohesion!!! If as a President, you cannot love every Nigerian equally, then you cannot bring the change we need. If as a leader, you cannot treat all religions, regions, peoples, etc. as equal, you cannot hope for or claim One Nigeria. This is the reason why nothing has changed. Our leaders and our people have not changed so why should anything change? 1 Like |
Politics / Re: I Didn’t Know Why I Came To Rule Now – Buhari by PtitLapin(f): 11:49am On Feb 06, 2016 |
Mr. President, have you forgotten all the Nigerians that died because of your political ambition? You were so determined to rule the country that you didn't care how. You didn't care whose blood was shed. You were so desperate that you aligned yourself with dangerous and corrupt people and anyone who could offer you Nigeria on a platter of gold. You finally won. You have finally arrived... but here you are, asking yourself why and whining ad nauseam...LOL... miss me with the BS. Nigeria is in the condition it is because we have too many vision-less and greedy charlatans posing as leaders, thugs posing as senators, governors and ministers. These people are willing to shed the blood of Nigerians for power. They are willing to steal from Nigeria and leave nothing for future generations. They are willing to destroy the rule of law and human rights. They are willing to disregard the abilities and potential of Nigerian citizens and insult our intelligence with lies and propaganda. We have very few politicians with real leadership experience and skills. We need leaders that love Nigeria passionately and fiercely; leaders that protect the dignity of Nigerian citizens at home and abroad. If you cannot be that leader Sir, then please shift. I long for the day we will have a President and leaders that love ALL Nigerians equally (or at least aspire to do so), a President and leaders that embody patriotism, leaders that plan for the youth and the future generations to come, leaders that are true to their constituents... until then, miss me with all this BS. 3 Likes |
Crime / Re: Sugabelly Alleged Rape: A Pure Case Of Blackmail, Intimidation And Lies by PtitLapin(f): 6:41am On Nov 28, 2015 |
Good day, Mr. Barcanista. I often read your political analysis on this forum but this post has revealed a lot about your personal character, your prejudices, as well as your affiliations. Firstly, you did a grave wrong by publishing her full name. You seem to have a personal vendetta against her, the way you revealed her personal emails, her identity, etc. without her permission. Perhaps you are one of the "friends" who benefited from her abuse? Secondly, it happened when she was 17 and he was 25. He should have known better. There are too many older men preying on naive, little girls. The emails you have posted here prove nothing. All I see is a girl who was in love with her abuser (which often happens when young girls are abused). It also reveals his very twisted and manipulative nature; if you read between the lines you can tell he was only using her, while she on the other hand sincerely loved him. Thirdly, the fact that she was in love with him does not nullify the possibility of rape and abuse. You were not there when she experienced what she experienced (or maybe you were?). The details of her story, as well as the fact that she has been writing about this for years means that something happened. She has clearly been suffering from PTSD, depression and health issues as a result of her encounter with Mr. Audu. Why are you overlooking her personal suffering? Have you ever stopped to think how a girl like her can intimidate a governors son? In Nigeria, politicians are like gods, they get away with everything, including murder. What would she gain by ruffling the feathers of the high and mighty, when they can easily make her to disappear. It is a shame that we live in a world where people defend the powerful and the depraved. The blame is always only on the victims. Mr. Barcanista why can you not hold your friend (I assume he is your friend because of how viciously you have attacked Sugarbelly) accountable for what he has done? So many people I know have been raped by older men, friends and family members. Most of them were to scared to say anything because of people like you. Those that were bold enough to speak out were told that they were asking for it. One of my dearest friends who has sickle cell was raped by her close male friend, even in her debilitating condition, when she was eighteen! He went scott-free and till today, she is scarred, suffering from psychological and physical issues in addition to her health condition. As a nation, Nigeria has a long way to go. We need to start holding rapists and abusers responsible, rather than taking the side of the offender. 10 Likes 1 Share |
Politics / Re: No Bomb Explosion In Abuja - FCTA by PtitLapin(f): 9:48am On Oct 11, 2015 |
Something similar happened earlier this week in Lokogoma, I was at home with my sister and we heard two loud blasts and the house shook each time. We were so frightened, I called my Dad who was driving out when it happened and he said he saw smoke from a distance behind the estate. However, it was not in the news so until today, we are not sure what really happened. I am very curious about what is going on and why no media station is mentioning it, especially with such loud explosions and the vibration of houses. |
Politics / Re: Those Against Buhari’s Ministerial Position Are Crooks – Presidency by PtitLapin(f): 2:47pm On Oct 05, 2015 |
I wish Mr. President would focus on fighting Boko Haram, for the sake of Nigerians. I have experienced two bomb blasts already at my young age, both in Jos and Abuja. After the experience in Jos, I never bought foodstuff in Terminus Market again and in Abuja, I am too paranoid to go outside. Please face Boko Haram, our greatest challenge at the moment and stop all the pettiness! A good number of corpers and citizens died because of President Buhari's political ambition in the past, so he should please remember their innocent blood that was shed and focus on eliminating extremism and illiteracy in the north. People are living in fear, since the last bomb blast, I have been having nightmares about death and I am very paranoid about going outside. I can only imagine how it must be for internally displaced people and for those in places like Maiduguri. We still don't know the real status of the children from Chibok, where are they There is no time for all this rubbish!!! You can't handle Boko Haram but you are fighting to control the Petroleum Ministry alone, really What are your priorities? I am so tired of this country, gradually losing faith in Nigeria. Greed always wins over sympathy and love for our fellow human beings. I love Nigeria but the more I read things like this, the more I wonder if it is worth it. So many people have died for nothing and our leaders are not doing anything to protect us. 1 Like |

Appareil: Et Tu? can also mean even you? or you too? It is Latin, not French so it is Tu not Toi. Julius Caesar's last words as he died were "Et Tu, Brute", meaning you too, Brutus? to signify deep betrayal. Today, Et Tu, Brute or Et Tu is commonly used sarcastically when someone does something unthinkable (Brutus-like actions). LOL... I didn't mean to turn the conversation away from Pastor Bakare, I just love languages... and literature :-) 3 Likes |

Education / Re: Thread For PHD Students by PtitLapin(f): 9:50am On Dec 19, 2014 |
sirRiddy: In terms of volunteering, it is a quick way to start up her CV. Many young people in Nigeria want to go straight to a job (which is alright) but volunteer work is a great way to build knowledge and networks. NGOs are always looking for extra hands, especially on legal issues. Law Firms (the prestigious ones) might also be open to volunteers but sadly in Nigeria, you have to know someone in order to ask around about such opportunities. In case it is international volunteer experience she is looking for, there are so many options available and she doesn't need to know anyone prior to applying. I was able to volunteer at international NGOs and do an internship with the UN by simple online applications. She is only 18 and I dare say that opportunities for her will be much more, the key is to keep searching and keep an open mind! 1 Like 1 Share |

sirRiddy: Ife is an awesome school and she has so much time to become a great advocate! My advice would be to work hard at her LLB and while at it, she should do some volunteer work at a Law Firm or an NGO (if she is into human rights). Volunteering while studying will give her a feel of what her future career can potentially involve. She can specialize in a particular area of Law after that. Another thing I would say is that information is very important. When I decided to specialize in Law, I focused on international human rights law, which I love but I was also ignorant of the many other aspects. When I did my LLM, I met classmates who were doing cyber law, sports law, environmental law and I even have a classmate that is a lawyer for Givenchy (we are all jealous of her hahahahaha). There are so many aspects of Law that your sister specialize in (in the future) 2 Likes 1 Share |

Ilekeh: Having the same research interests is definitely paramount! It will determine the kind of opportunities you will have during and after the program and the bonding you will have with your Supervisor. Another tip for applicants is to make sure you strategically choose your Supervisor; don't allow the school to select one for you! My first choice for a Supervisor left the school for a UN job and so my school chose a Supervisor to replace her. It was hell because we didn't have anything in common. I battled to change my situation, the battle is ongoing 2 Likes |

I have a BA In International Studies and Foreign Languages, an LLM in International Law, an MA in International Studies, and I began a PhD in International Law this September. Yeah, I am a school addict! It has been a long and hectic journey but I wouldn't trade it for anything. My education has taken me to five continents...and counting... Woot woot! By the way: For those intending to apply, one of the most important things is finding a compatible Supervisor. Your Supervisor can build you up or frustrate you easily. I learned the hard way! 5 Likes 1 Share |
