WWE RAW REVIEWS RECAPS AND REACTIONS I Miss My Dawgs Jey Uso is a man without a country right now. And I love every bit of this intrigue. Jey opened Raw and after getting seemingly the entire North Carolina state on their feet, he kept it real. Jey knows he wronged a lot of people in that locker room. It’s a nice contrast to how much the crowd loves Jey but lest we forget he served as the Right Hand Man for years. He did a lot of dirt on Roman Reigns’ behalf. He cheated, lied, and injured people for the Tribal Chief. He changed lives and shattered dreams for many on the red brand. But, to his credit, he’s not hiding from his past or anyone he wronged. He also wants them to come see him if they have a problem because he’s not going anywhere. It wasn’t a threat so much as him offering an olive branch but also willing to fight if it comes to that. This is wrestling, after all, so it usually does. Of course, he does have one friend. Sami Zayn hit the ring and greeted the man he once called “brother.” I’m thrilled they got this out the way early. This thing between Sami and Jey has layers (like an onion) and it’s better peeling them away now rather than building for later. And with Jey by himself in a hostile environment, it makes no sense if Sami just sits there and watches all that drama unfold and does nothing. That’s just not him. We finally got a hug between these two without any backstabbing or second guessing. But even that brings complications. Which ones? Glad you asked. As Jey left the ring, Drew McIntyre & Matt Riddle entered. Drew and Jey entered into a staring contest on the entranceway, that only ended when Sami broke it up. Sami wants Drew, Matt, and everyone else to give Jey a chance. Drew expressed that his patience for Jey’s do-over only goes but so far. And he even mentioned taking out his frustration on Cody Rhodes, the man who brought Jey back into everyone’s lives. Right there, we got issues between Jey and Drew, Jey and Matt, and possibly Drew and Cody. And after Jey found out that someone from Raw gets traded to SmackDown for fairness and basketball reasons, even more people might hate his guts. That not only makes Jey a marked man but makes him the underdog, a brand new position for a Bloodline member who rolled from city to city with Roman. The final deliciousness came when Dirty Dom empathized with Jey’s plight and offered him something he knows Jey craves more than anything: family. Yeah, Dom invited Jey to join the Judgment Day with the fervor of a Jehovah’s Witness. When Dom stopped talking, I wanted to join the group. And that’s a thing for me because I’m notoriously not a joiner! Jey considered it because he has no allies and he sees nothing but bad tidings on the horizon. I love it. I don’t have a single complaint and I can’t wait to see what he does or how this all boils over. Will he join Judgment Day? Will he stick it out by himself? And how will Kevin Owens feel about Sami making up with Jey? KO missed the show this week and left Sami by his lonesome. If there’s one thing we know about the Prize Fighter it’s that he rarely forgives and never forgets. So many questions and hopefully the answers do them justice. B-Sides All the Stars Chad Gable needs a singles run. If there’s one thing that I hope he showed Triple H and anyone else who matters, it’s that he belongs in that ring on the dolo tip with anyone. He and GUNTHER impressed this week. Yes, GUNTHER made history but they booked the match in a way that made him work for it. Chad put his title in and historical run in jeopardy several times, including a fantastic sequence where he kept GUNTHER’s ankle in his hand at all costs. Watch the match. Watch it now. Give both men their props and clap for history. But know that Chad wrote some beautiful music these past few months, with this match acting as the high note. Momma I’m Sorry Two things come to mind for the tornado tag match between Highlanders (still going with that) and the Viking Raiders: One, great use of Chekov’s table. And two, Drew McIntyre & Matthew Riddle might find themselves in a feud with the New Day when Xavier comes back. Or, at the least, we get more bad blood between Drew and Kofi Kingston while Matt plays peacemaker and hopes cooler heads do the thing they usually do. And they foreshadowed that this week. The match itself was chaotic, as expected. But it also mostly showcased Drew’s stated intentions: He got his hands on both Raiders without tagging. A good portion of the match put Drew one on two and he handled himself extremely well. And for me, that goes a long way for the story because Drew still doesn’t really want a partner. He needs a reason for that and right now, I don’t see it. Kofi messed up trying to save Matt from catching Ragnarok through a table. And he succeeded at first. But Trouble in Paradise missed the intended target and hit Matt, creating actual trouble in paradise for the former WWE champ. The Raiders got the W while Drew’s frustration boiled over. This actually got me interested in a story that left me nonplussed at best. That’s Crazy Interesting through line on Raw. And if not for the one I went with starting this recap, I’d write more about it. Becky Lynch escorted Seth Rollins out of Pittsburgh in a wheelchair. That’s crazy enough that WWE banned Seth from performing this week or any week until they clear him. For anyone new or those paying attention for years, Seth said “nah” to all that and showed up anyway. Ricochet gave him props for the match and for showing up. But he told Seth that carrying Raw on his brittle back isn’t the only option; Ricochet wants some of that burden. Seth didn’t hear that either and hit the ring, where he called out Shinsuke Nakamura for a rematch. Shinsuke said “nah” Typical heel move where the bad guy wants the match on their terms rather than giving the face what they want. Shinsuke wants the advantage, so yeah, why give Seth the match when he’s prepared? I get it. But of course a brawl ensued. Ricochet, putting his money where his mouth is, had Seth’s back. Literally. Speaking of which, once Ricochet and Shin’s impromptu match started, Shin focused on Ricochet’s back. Good touch showing him keeping Seth in mind. That exclamation point hit when Shin slammed a chair on Ricochet’s back and got disqualified. Beating Ricochet was never the thing; he sent a message to Seth, which the champ heard loud and clear. Now, prior to Seth rushing the ring and going off on Shin and the security guards, Adam Pearce warned him about any physical activity. He even told him that this is about more than one night and about his career. Seth can’t keep up the pace, and Adam knows it. But Seth disagreed and, well, yeah, he paid the price. Seth went off on everyone after Shin got DQ’d and Shin arranged a meeting between Seth’s spine and the steel steps. Pretty compelling stuff with a champion doing way too much, obsessing over someone he already beat, and that same someone is more than a little bit dangerous. Oh, and Damian Priest lurks with his brand new Judgment Day-themed briefcase. I Get Physical Zoey Stark and Shayna Baszler united over fallen mentors. Well, united-ish. Shayna wanted a piece of Zoey without Trish. Zoey happily obliged. They got physical too. This felt like a true wrestling match that only ended when Zoey passed out from the Kirifuda Clutch. Shayna gave her props after the match and both women lamented the past while seemingly looking forward to a future partnership. Shayna commended Zoey for putting up “a better fight than Ronda,” which stings all types of ways. Quicksand Chelsea Green dove in deep this week, didn’t she? Before getting to that, apparently Piper Niven is on the shelf! Adam let that nugget fly when he spoke with Chelsea prior to the tag champ putting her foot in her mouth. So, yeah, that’s pretty big. What happens with those titles now? The other big news from this “match” between Chelsea and Raquel? Raquel gets her rematch with Rhea Ripley next week, sans Dominik. Rhea skated at Payback thanks to her beau. What happens when he’s banned? Invisible Anyone remember that moment in Hook where the Lost Boys ate “never food”? Peter Pan, now an adult, wanted actual food while the Lost Boys manifested food through their imaginations. That’s what Miz did this week, except not entertaining nor did it advance character and theme. Miz invited John Cena to Mis TV for an explanation on his loss to LA Knight. Only John never showed. Miz conducted an interview with no one, got into a fight, and even issued a Skull Crushing Finale. Why? Because we can’t see John Cena. You hear that? That’s the sound of a rimshot somewhere in the faint distance. I’m sure Miz said some fine things during his promo about John and LA. I know he asked for a rematch. I’m sure he showed that obsession. But the segment lost me the minute Miz interviewed an empty chair. Leave the games to the Lost Boys. Give Em Hell Combining a few things here because everything connects. The Judgment Day hit the ring this week with pep in their step, gold around their waists—and shoulders—and bones to pick. Since I already touched on one of those bones, let’s get to JD McDonagh, who once again tried ingratiating himself to the crew. And he brought gifts! JD not only gave Damian that new briefcase I mentioned earlier, but gave off himself when he took a proverbial bullet for Dirty Dom. Sami hit the ring with righteous fury. Dom’s interference put those championships in Judgment Day’s camp, and Sami wanted all of that static. But JD sacrificed himself for the little Mysterio. Before the match, Finn advocated for JD’s Judgment Day membership. Damian remained leery, Dom proved ever the weather vane, while Rhea provided pragmatism: See how JD does against Sami first and then circle back. And, of course, Rhea had a plan to make sure JD got the W. But I don’t think that was the test. She knew if Dom interfered, which he did, that JD’s road to victory got a lot less rocky. The true proving ground came when Sami, irate after Dom caused him yet another match—and JD pinned him with a hand full of tights—made a beeline for the North American champ. Sami put Dom in his clutches while the champ screamed for help. JD, who almost left the ring and actually watched the beatdown happen for a while, finally saved Mami’s Latino Heat. And JD caught a Helluva Kick for his troubles. JD showed he’s down for the crew, and more importantly, especially for Rhea, put Dom out of harm’s way. And he seemingly won over Damian as well. We’ll see how this plays out but despite Finn’s declarations, I still don’t trust the guy. Maybe there’s just too much NXT in my head. And that’s a me thing. I need to let the past be the past and allow for growth. Dope episode from top to bottom. It moved, showed purpose, felt complete, and even threw in teases for down the line. What did Tomasso Ciampa and Adam Pearce talk about? Who knows! But we’ll find out. The Jey stuff and the Judgment Day saga, along with the excellent main event, truly ran the show. That’s some of the best stuff going in WWE at the moment and everything was a home run this week. |

WWE PAYBACK REVIEWS RECAPS AND REACTIONS Payback II A little peek behind the curtain: I held off writing this because I fully expected Damian Priest and that briefcase after the main event. But more on that later. Rhea Ripley promised changes if Damian & Finn Balor left Pittsburgh empty handed. Did anyone doubt her? I know I didn’t and judging by their performances, neither did Finn & Damian. The Steel City Street Fight had something for everyone. The violence, of course, but also a couple Pittsburgh references. Finn found terrible towels under the ring and promptly stepped on them. Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens got tossed in a proverbial penalty box and came out wearing Penguins jerseys, gloves, and holding hockey sticks. If image alone doesn’t tell you this match cooked, I don’t know what else to say. The match fit Payback’s running theme: violence. WWE put on a very physical show that lived up to its namesake. This match, like most others on the card, fit firmly under the “blood feud” umbrella, and the wrestlers met that criteria. KO even bled! Not as much as Jon Moxley, but who amongst us can? But I’m lumping this match in with Judgment Day’s night overall because it, along with Rhea’s title defense against Raquel Rodriguez, felt similar. Besides the aforementioned physicality, they both hinged on crew love. At a certain point during the street fight, Dirty Dom showed his face. And he did it perfectly within the rules. His mere presence shifted the tag champs’ attention, which no doubt gave the challengers an advantage. That edge—pun intended—got even wider when JD McDonagh, once again, helped out Finn’s group. JD broke up a no doubt pin fall and kept the challengers in the game. So KO & Sami, already facing three men, found themselves dealing with a fourth. While they dispatched JD pretty easily, the next person shoving their weight into this match proved more vexing: Rhea. Rhea, out of nowhere, speared KO into the barricade. That left Rhea, Finn, & Damian, while Dom licked his wounds caused from KO & Sami doing the hockey fight thing on his poor bones. Everything illustrated the advantage Judgment Day has going into every match; it truly is Judgment Day vs. the world. Even when someone thinks they have them beaten, like Sami & KO did at a couple points, the other members cause trouble and change the equation. I dig that. I know history says that bickering groups get their expiration date, but it’s different with these cats. Not saying they won’t break up one day. I’m not even saying they won’t break up next week. I just see a group that truly functions like a family. They bicker and disagree, but they hold each other down when the chips get lower than sea level. For the tag match, Dom resurrected from the dead and saved his boys, ironically, with that green briefcase. The thing that caused so much strife in the group ended up propelling them to tag team gold! That’s fine storytelling. Dom showed out again during Rhea’s championship match. Like I alluded to, Rhea & Raquel got incredibly physical. I’m not sure how it happened but Rhea’s nose started bleeding and rather than just wipe her nose, she blew the snot onto Raquel. Then she wiped her nose. Disgusting but also perfectly done. Raquel put up a good fight, which goes a long way considering Rhea’s recent title matches. She beat the hell out of the champ, took her best shots, and did most of it on one leg. But guess who showed up? Dirty Dominik one more time. He didn’t put hands on Raquel but he distracted her long enough for his mami to make a comeback. Raquel took a Rip Tide and then took a three-count. And all thanks to Dom. Judgment Day owns a lot of gold. I figured with Seth’s back injury, the potentially grueling match with Shinsuke Nakamura, combined with the fact the group has domination on their mind, made a cash-in a no-brainer. If anything, Damian looks silly for not doing it. A hurt champion fights a physical match with an opponent who dissected him and hurt him even more. How can anyone not take advantage? But maybe that’s the lingering thing; the straw that might finally break the Judgment Day’s back. With all that gold and Damian still holding that briefcase, perhaps going for that title or possibly sacrificing the tag championships for the gold around Seth’s waist finally makes him a solo act. Payback’s story wasn’t about Judgment Day breaking up like I figured. It actually revolved around them growing even stronger but with one belt notably absent from their Thanos-like collection. When will that other shoe drop? Stay tuned, guys. Same WWE time, same WWE channel. Well, it’s not WWE’s channel but you get the point. B-Sides Revenge is Sweet Couple things here. First off, this match delivered like an 80 pound. baby. I came in with zero expectations based on everything beforehand but they set the bar high for the rest of the event. Trish did stuff here in her late 40s that she didn’t do in her 20s. That’s commendable for so many reasons and truly shows her capability. On the real, I feel like this whole program robbed us of more from Trish. She showed more than her previous comeback matches allowed, but also raised her game for what fans expect from this new generation. That in itself is a hell of a story. They even found an organic way for including Zoey Stark. Zoey came to Trish’s aid, tried pulling her out of the cage, slammed the door on Becky’s face, and then jumped into the match. Becky looked strong taking on two competitors while teasing future run-ins with Zoey down the line. Even with Zoey’s physicality, Becky defeated Trish with a Manhandle Slam from the top rope. She celebrated while Trish & Zoey ended their journey and went their separate ways. Trish swung on Zoey, possibly for not helping her enough. Zoey reacted like any wrestler and struck back. Zoey left Trish lying in the middle of the ring after a Z-360. Great match, logical conclusion, and perfect ending. The one criticism? I don’t know why they didn’t do this at SummerSlam. And in case we don’t see her again: thank you, Trish. X is Coming LA Knight vs. Miz went longer than I expected. But the longer it went, the more I realized the necessity. This was more than a match for LA; this match sets the tone for the rest of his journey. Dismissing Miz easily negates that journey and goes against LA’s narrative. He scratched and clawed for everything. As corny as that sounds, it’s true. So with that in mind, why would this match with Miz go the easy route? Especially when LA expressed that he can’t ascend without beating the A-Lister. Miz didn’t make it easy. Even with John Cena handling ref duties, Miz kept his composure and focused on his opponent. These two got physical, which I always love. It’s easy forgetting because of the jokes and silliness that Miz has quite the nasty streak. That works with someone like LA, who thrives in fights, while also feeding the overall narrative. I particularly liked LA repeatedly slamming Miz’s head into the commentary table while the crowd chanted “yeah.” Even loved LA jumping off the barricade, if only because it showed how much he needed the W. Of course he got it because, duh. and he even got into a few moments with John that Pittsburgh loved. There’s something there between these two if WWE ever feels the urge. Or if Hollywood goes on another strike and John needs the money. After Miz took the BFT and the 1-2-3, John and LA got another standoff. LA came at John for almost costing him the match while John ripped off his shirt and teased some beef between the two. Instead, he extended his hand to show some respect, and LA begrudgingly accepted. John even raised his hand. So we’ll see what happens between these two. Solid match with an ending that teased something much bigger. Thowy’s Revenge Rey Mysterio defeated Austin Theory. Yup, that’s all I got. Just not interested in the match because Austin does nothing for me. For those interested, they wrestled a crisp, sound match. But yeah. Let’s move on with our lives. J.D’s Revenge Well look who’s back. Jey Uso, fresh off his two week hiatus, returned as the newest Raw wrestler. Yup, the Main Event moves from Fridays to Mondays. Makes perfect sense. This keeps him away from Roman, Jimmy, and all of that, while truly letting his solo career fly. No pun intended. The solo version of “Day One Ish” made me chuckle if only because those lyrics are so on the nose and so weird. But I digress. Cody Rhodes sat down for the Grayson Waller Effect and, thankfully, Grayson cut Cody off before he asked Pittsburgh what they wanted to talk about. Thank. God. But Cody and Grayson barely got any sparring in before Cody announced Jey’s return and move to Mondays. Cody exited, Pittsburgh greeted Jey like Jesus riding into Jerusalem, and then he kicked Grayson’s teeth down his throat on principle. Payback is a Grandmother Another physical beatdown. Shinsuke & Finn put on a clinic that also functioned as the fight Shinsuke promised. They slowly worked Seth’s back into the match. It hindered his offense and put him on defense more than usual. I liked Shinsuke not going for it immediately but slowly building anticipation and messing with the champ. They told a story about resilience. Seth eventually overcame everything Shinsuke threw at him and the fact that his body barely had anything left. But the question, and I alluded to this in my predictions, is how long can Seth keep this up? He put on a good match here but when does it end? Great show. They started hot, kept that momentum going towards the middle, but slowly petered out towards the end. But it’s not the latter half’s fault that the first half killed it. Payback, a show I figured might simply pass the time, ended up entertaining me thoroughly for three hours. |

WWE SMACKDOWN REVIEWS RECAPS AND REACTIONS A birthday episode. Happy birthday to me 🎉👑💥🔥 We didn’t have to wait long to see exactly what WWE would have in store for John Cena, and what he would have in store for fans, on Friday Night SmackDown this week. That’s because he was the first on the scene when the blue brand hit the air on FOX. “Let’s go to work!” Hey, I always loved that. Cena did his usual thing of pandering to the fans, talking about how much he loves them and how he wants to give back to them. Then he announced he will be the host of Payback, which more or less simply means he’ll be on that show too. He’ll be around for a couple months, actually! Pretty neat, huh?!? Before he could continue, wouldn’t you know it, none other than Jimmy Uso showed up, complete with a new theme song and everything. He wanted to know why Cena showed up. Because the fans are far more interested in what he has to say. And that would be the same thing he said before — he did what he did so Jey wouldn’t become Roman Reigns, corrupted and on a power trip. He also didn’t want Jey to become like Cena, because he’s just like Reigns. They both “take and take and take” but “the only difference is you do yours with a smile.” The fans responded to that by chanting Cena’s name, for what it’s worth. And he responded by getting in Jimmy’s face and telling him “the wrong Uso quit.” When Jim tried a superkick, Cena laid him out with the AA. One hell of a return segment, that’s for sure. A great reminder that Cena, even all these years later, is still one of the best we’ve seen in terms of presence, delivery, and impact when he’s in the ring. Cena’s night ended there, or at least the TV portion of it. Jimmy, however, was so good and pissed off about getting sonned he barged in on Adam Pearce and Michin, angering the OC member enough that AJ Styles decided to take up for her. It led to some intrigue — the ensuing confrontation got to the point of pushing but then Solo Sikoa came in hot to take out Styles before telling Jimmy “you’re out of The Bloodline when we say you are.” Jimmy walked out anyway. The saga continues. This is actually how we got to the main event of this show — AJ Styles vs. Solo Sikoa. Jimmy, of course, made his way back to attack Styles at just the right time, ensuring Solo won the match. After, he embraced Sikoa, like all was right in The Bloodline again, as though nothing had happened at all and he didn’t tell him before that he would do what he wanted and damn the wishes of Roman Reigns, Sikoa, or Paul Heyman. Solo almost laid him out with the Spike, stopping only because Heyman shouted him down. He walked off and watched Jimmy put Styles down himself, throwing up the 1 in what appeared to be a show of desire to be back in The Bloodline’s good graces. Heyman could be seen calling Reigns. The saga continues indeed. Your LA Knight segment of the week: A promo battle with The Miz! Knight tripped up a few times but he got all the insults that were going to get over with the crowd. The Miz tripped up a time or two as well but the main message here was that he absolutely is the guy who is one up on Knight, no matter how cool LA may be to all the fans right now. He’s been to the top of the mountain, and he’s succeeded in all the ways Knight has not. That’s why this was the right match for WWE to put together — Knight needs a win like this to continue his rise, to show that he can just as much as and even more than The Miz. To that end, this was well done. All the rest -Grayson Waller & Austin Theory defeated Santos Escobar & Rey Mysterio in a tag team match after Escobar saved Mysterio from an attack from behind from Theory. He ended up taking a big shot to the bad knee, the one that gave Rey a chance to win the U.S. title he now holds, and Waller finished the job with his rolling Stunner. They didn’t follow up much on this on this show, but we’ll see what direction they take it from here. -Bobby Lashley finally got some time in the ring with a microphone to tell us what he’s been up to getting close to The Street Profits. His explanation? “Real recognize real, greatness recognize greatness.” Dressed to the nines, Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins hit the scene to express their gratitude to Lashley for helping them become this new, more aggressive, far more successful version of themselves. Lashley made clear they’re coming for “power, control, and championship gold.” The Suit Profits are indeed here. As if to punctuate their statement, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, the tag team champions, came out before they could make it to the back. Foreshadowing? -Owens and Zayn were there to have a non-title match against Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro of the LWO. It wasn’t quite a squash match but it might as well have been, making the poor LWO 0-2 on the night. Hey, someone had to put the champs over the night before they defend their titles at the big show! -Shotzi finally got the chance to get her hands on Bayley, and they had a fairly sloppy match with a really sloppy and poorly executed finish. Charlotte Flair interrupted late to take out Iyo Sky with a miserably bad big boot. Then, Dakota Kai and Shotzi had their timing all off on one side of the ring, where they were supposed to distract the referee so Flair could hop up on the apron on the other side to take out Bayley. But her timing was off too, because the other side looked lost for a few seconds. Flair took Bayley out anyway, and Shotzi scored the pinfall victory. This was pretty bad all around. A solid show. Grade: B+ |
abduleez1:Wait so na even animation sef. Omo I got this blockbuster but artsy live action vibe from it. |
ShaqFu:😂 Lol I'm sure if you read it you would have enjoyed it even more. |
itspreshh:Currently watching this too and it's really entertaining. The poor acting are from basically insignificant characters. The main acts got their roles on lock |
abduleez1:Omo see creativity |
Rarre:Dem no Sabi wetin dem dey talk. He is going to be out for 6 weeks that's 1month+ so how does that encroach into 3 UCL matches? Make dem no dey post rubbish |
