Didn't expect anything less than a stellar performance from Reigns and Cesaro. Cesaro has been big stage, main event prospect for more than a minute now. Here's hoping they keep him in the limelight.

The Raw Women's title triple threat was my second best match of the night. But that's par for the course when you have 2 of the best workers in the women's division and a talented Rhea Ripley. Will we never see the corkscrew moonsault again, Charlotte? I've really missed it.

Bayley got more offence than I was comfortable with in the SD Women's title match. Belair came off as struggling. Whether that's playing into the rookie angle, I don't really know and I still wouldn't be OK with that. When she rolled up Bayley and ran out the ring at the end, that definitely wasn't the Belair I knew and had come to stan. WWE needs to make her as dominant as we know she can be.

Congrats to the new Father/Son tag champions.

The moment I saw we were going to have a Zombiejack match, my very first thought was "Pu7pl3's going to hate this" and while I even have a fondness for gimmick matches, this one made absolutely no sense and just served to downplay and ridicule the feud between The Miz and The Priest. This feud could have ended here so both men could move on to better prospects, instead it's obviously going to drag on a bit longer.

By the way, you take a 6-week break and come back to Samoa Joe and the Iiconics gone, Eva Marie (of all fücking people) back and Pat McAfee on SD commentary. E reach to ask My people, wetin dey occur?
@ the bolded you would be absolutely right, I hated the match and Miz even went through most of it with a torn ACL, but hey WWE earned $1m dollars for promoting Army of the Dead for Netflix

And for the releases more have even just recently happened in NXT, I don't understand what's going on

WWE SMACKDOWN REVIEWS RECAPS AND REACTIONS

Humility
This was a multipurpose segment and delivered on all fronts.
The Head of the Table came out looking like a straight up boss in his track suit. Seriously, we need more regular clothes on WWE programming.
Reigns allowed his special counsel to do the talking this evening, and boy did he talk.
Heyman put him over huge while running down all of his opponents since returning at SummerSlam last year. After, Reigns asked for Jimmy Uso.
Instead, Cesaro came out with his arm in a sling. He challenged Reigns to a match at Hell in a Cell. Well... he tried to, at least. As Reigns immediately shot him down, Seth Rollins blindsided him and just turned into this unhinged maniac.
It deserves your eyes.
The referees and backstage officials tried to hold him back and get him to stop, and he did - for a moment. Then he jumped over the barricade and did another curb stomp to Cesaro on the steel part of the ramp. Just brutal looking.
This was good stuff all around. I don’t know who Reigns’ opponent will be at Hell in a Cell but at this point I no longer think it should be Cesaro. In fact, Rollins and Cesaro needs to be in the Cell.
Woven into this, Jimmy Uso started the process of getting his brother out of Reigns’ grasp. He went and got them a tag team match against the Street Profits next week, but Jey wasn’t happy about it. He had to tell Reigns about it, because Reigns is the boss. Jimmy tried telling Jey that Roman said he didn’t need him, and he also doesn’t need Roman.
So Jey went to tell Roman, and Roman said that they represent the family, and something else I couldn’t hear before Reigns leaned in and hugged Jey.
That look. Even though we didn’t hear it, it seems obvious what Roman told Jey he had to do.
They aren’t winning next week. Remember what I said last week - Jey isn’t allowed to. That’s his place in the Bloodline. Attack dog and nothing else. Betting that next week, Jey turns on Jimmy mid-match and cause them to lose.
And that could lead to a first time ever Jimmy vs. Jey match at Hell in a Cell. Oh boy!
Keep in mind, this will quite possibly end up being the only fresh match up on the show. My god, the repetitiveness is insane.

Oh... this again
Oh look - a 6 person tag involving people who are feuding with each other.
Feels a bit familiar, doesn’t it?
If you haven’t been paying attention, this has been my go to for the past... however many weeks of WWE booking 6 or 8 man/woman tags in place of being creative. This was just another one of those times.
And this time, with people who shouldn’t be feuding with each other anymore. While I could put up with another Bianca Belair and Bayley match, I do not need another Tamina/Natalya and Shayna/Nia match. And that’s exactly what we’re going to get with Shayna tapping out Natalya.
After an odd opening segment of Sonya Deville introducing the SmackDown champions as if you and I haven’t been watching, Bayley interrupted to chastise Deville for not including her in this line-up. She baited Belair into walking down to the ring, and then Baszler and Jax attacked her, prompting Natalya and Tamina.
The match was a standard 6 person tag. WWE is good at them. They’ve pretty much perfected these so there’s always a good watch.
But as I said, Shayna tapping out Natalya told us everything we needed to know. Because On Raw this coming Monday, there will be a rematch indeed. Any involvement of their makes me worried this reign of Natalya and Tamina will be short, unless they use their next match to finally split Nia and Shayna up.
That’s absolutely what we need right now.

Black Mass saves Apollo Crews
This was a bit of a head scratcher.
So Crews, Owens, E, and Zayn were having quite a banger, as all four men would do, and the Commander Azeez was outside the ring for all of this match.
I was just waiting for it. Every time someone not Crews would pin someone else, Azeez would start to climb into the ring like he was going to break up the pin. This happened multiple times.
Finally, Big E did the Big Ending to Crews and Azeez pulled him out of the ring. I thought that was where the help would start, and Crews would pin Owens or Zayn. But E took Azeez out and got back into the ring.
All of a sudden the lights got super bright and out from the fog, Aleister Black reappeared after having one of his vignettes earlier in the night. He just got into the ring and gave E a Black Mass, and Crews took advantage to win.
It’s definitely not that Black is joining with Crews and Azeez, and I’m glad I was not treated to what I thought was going to happen the entire match, but the total randomness of this was odd. Not... bad odd, but it doesn’t feel good odd for me yet.
I really don’t know how to feel about this. I have to wait until next week.

The Rest
Rik BOOGS! (Shinsuke Nakamura defeated King Corbin)
There was a match here, but Rik Boogs (weird spelling but whatevs it’s the BUGEZ BOOGS!) is all that matters to me at the moment.
If this was your first time, welcome to the Boogs cruise. It’s a wild ride.

Dominik Mysterio defeated Robert Roode
Sure. See you all next week!

WWE NXT REVIEWS RECAPS AND REACTIONS

Bronson Reed gets Johnny Gargano in a cage!
After a cowardly sneak attack by Austin Theory and Johnny Gargano on NXT last week, Bronson Reed vowed that Johnny Gargano was “a dead man” walking. I don’t think that was another Army of the Dead tie in though. Reed had already earned a North American title shot by beating Theory, so The Way were hoping he’d be too injured to take it this week. Instead they got the exact opposite as William Regal booked a steel cage match for NXT!
This match was given a lot of time and deserved every bit of it including a nice long overrun. Austin Theory tried to run interference on the outside, climbing the cage for distractions, slamming the door in Reed’s face when he’d try to escape to win, opening it wide and trying to pull Gargano to safety whenever he came near it. Seeing Theory and Reed play tug of war with Gargano is comical, but only in the best possible way.
Despite all of the chicanery, Reed’s strength and power proved to be too much for Gargano to overcome. Even with Theory scaling the fence to blatantly reach into the cage and interfere with Reed’s escape, Reed single-handedly dispatched both men and went to the top rope for a thunderous Tsunami splash, pinning Gargano right in the middle of the ring! Cue the pyro for your new North American champion.
Well deserved, Reed!

Zoey Stark vs. Toni Storm
After Zoey Stark picked up a surprise win over Toni Storm at night one of Takeover: Stand & Deliver, these two women have been married at the hip in promos and deeds, talking smack to each other and interfering in each other’s business. At this point the former NXT UK (and hopefully future main roster) champ Storm either soundly defeats Stark and moves on, or we learn just how much the WWE brass things of Stark and her impressive physique. Which was it on Tuesday night? Read on to find out.
Storm’s disdain for Stark was clear at the outset as she casually walked over and slapped Stark in the face. That fired up Stark for an initial burst of offense, but eventually Storm crashed her into the ring apron and wiped her out into the steel steps. That led to a long period of Storm working her over until Stark hit an enzuigiri to break free for a commercial break. So far, so good. Both women were using their athleticism to get the upper hand and it was proving to be an enjoyable opener to the broadcast.
After the break both women were trading haymakers instead of maneuvers, and Stark got the better of it and fired up for a series of near falls. It all broke down when Storm countered a throw from Stark by landing on her feet, hitting a German suplex and Storm Zero... but Stark kicked out! If the fact you thought Stark was winning based on her kicking out of Storm’s finisher though you’d be mistaken. Storm promptly drilled Stark on her head and pinned her for three, leaving Wade Barrett perplexed as to what Storm’s new finisher is. Perhaps someone should tell the commentary team ahead of time? Seems like a good idea. Either way I was happy to see Storm pick up the win in this rematch.

“Ted DiBiase, kiss my grits!”
I’ve been of two minds about Cameron Grimes for a while now. Some weeks I think his “low rent millionaire” shtick is really funny, other weeks I think they dedicate so many segments to it during one show that I never want to see it again. In either case they’ve been building up a war between him and WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase, because “The Million Dollar Man” has been out-buying and out-bidding him with the money even GameStop and dogecoin investing could never get Grimes. This week we’d finally get the pay off (pun intended) as DiBiase came to the Capitol Wrestling Center for a big confrontation.
This started with Cameron Grimes being humiliated by Ted DiBiase in proxy, as he told Jake Atlas to park his car, and Atlas responded that only DiBiase could have a valet or his own reserved parking spot. Grimes responded in typical Grimes fashion — he threatened to beat Atlas up in the ring to teach him some respect. Atlas happily accepted the match.
I don’t mind when a wrestling story is predictable. In fact I think doing a “swerved you bro” finish just to fool people is one of the worst things about the wrestling business. Therefore I’m not going to say it was bad that Ted DiBiase’s limo pulled up during the match, nor that he walked out to the entrance ramp and distracted Grimes to let Atlas roll him up for three. The only problem is that it was a weak payoff for the long build to a confrontation between Grimes and DiBiase at the Capitol Wrestling Center. All of that build just for DiBiase to do a distraction and let somebody else beat Grimes? It makes sense but it’s hardly satisfying.

Taya Valk... I mean Franky Monet debuts (again)
Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t Franky Monet already debut on the April 13th episode of WWE NXT? Apparently you can debut twice though. Maybe the first appearance doesn’t count because she didn’t actually have a match in the ring. If that’s the case then this debut needed to be something special to show us what La Guera Loca is all about.
I’m not going to mince words here. I thought it was pointless to have Monet debut again, and apparently the director thought so too, because she came out to make her presence felt (and her little dog too) immediately after Storm picked up the win over Stark. It seemed like this would have been the perfect moment to have Monet pick a fight with Storm, but instead it was “to the back” like a vintage TNA Impact segment for a backstage interview. What? Why? Why send Monet out at all then? What was the freaking point of it?

Pete Dunne wants Arash Markazi to prove him wrong
He’s run his mouth nearly every week on NXT. Last week he even insinuated that Karrion Kross was ducking him because he was the toughest man on the whole damn brand. If you thought “Bruiserweight” Pete Dunne was finished talking trash though, you’ve got another thing coming. This week he had a whole interview segment announced ahead of time for the show, giving the opinionated Dunne even more time to make his case for a title shot.
I have to say it was a fairly standard interview. Not great, not bad, just “there”. What actually matters is that Bobby Fish had an unannounced interview of his own with McKenzie Mitchell, where he said he found it funny that Pete Dunne runs his mouth about how he’s a match nobody in NXT wants. Fish said that’s the only match that he wants, so Dunne had better show up next week to answer his challenge!

A night full of unexpected matches
I’m going to rank them in order from the worst to the best. Alexander Wolfe vs. Killian Dain was barely a minute if that. Dain hit a crossbody after Wolfe refused to accept a steel chair from Marcel Barthel and quickly got the pin. Imperium gave Wolfe a two-on-one beatdown afterward so the angle was more important than the match. Sarray vs. Aliyah was only slightly better. Sarray won — as she should have — but seeing Aliyah be on her level for even 30 seconds just wasn’t believable, and Jessi Kamea had to interfere just to make that possible. Hit Row (represented by Ashante “The Adonis” and “Top Dolla” AJ Francis) vs. Ariya Daivari & Tony Nese was a much better squash, if only because the 205 Live superstars got in virtually no offense. Daivari fired up one time and immediately got put down by a dropkick. If you want to make a new faction look good, this is how you do it.

By far the best of the bunch though was Timothy Thatcher & Tommaso Ciampa vs. Legado del Fantasma. This was set up by a backstage interview where Legado were declaring their desire to face MSK, only for Ciampa and Thatcher to interrupt and say you can’t get a title shot without going through us. Logical. I always like a logical reason to have a match.
It was a cluster in the best possible way, with both teams repeatedly interfering in near falls, the ref losing complete control, and Ciampa and Thatcher taking advantage of the chaos to commit violence at will. There are few things I enjoy more than seeing The Sicilian Psychopath go on a murderous rampage. They seemed to have things well in hand until the Grizzled Young Veterans arrived to take Ciampa out. Mendoza and Wilde shamelessly took advantage of the weakened Ciampa and hit the double team assisted kick to the head to get the pinfall. William Regal declared himself disgusted with what occurred but nevertheless granted that Legado del Fantasma would get a title shot in two weeks. That’s not all that was announced though!
So yes, Franky Monet will make her third debut on the brand. God only knows why she needed three of them.

Grade: B
I was tempted to be more harsh as there was a lot of “throw it at the wall to see what sticks” to this week’s edition of NXT, but three things absolutely saved the show for me. First and foremost I have to admit the steel cage match for the North American title was really good. If you’re going to make a big deal out of Bronson Reed, you have him overcome the odds in a stipulation match for a title belt, dealing with Gargano on the inside and Theory on the outside at the same time. That’s the kind of A+ storytelling that raises the average overall. Secondly I enjoyed every moment of Thatcher & Ciampa vs. Legado del Fantasma, and even the Grizzled Young Veterans lending the assist to The League didn’t bring it down. Last but not least I’m thrilled to see Toni Storm finally get the best of Zoey Stark. I hope it’s the beginning of a run for her leading all the way to Raquel González, but that may be asking for too much. Even the bad stuff wasn’t so bad really. Imperium beating up Alexander Wolfe made sense. Atlas beating Grimes made sense. Sarray and Hit Row winning made sense. It’s just hard for me to grade a show higher than B with so many squashes and so little thought put into it ahead of time. At least they set things up for next week and the week after.

WWE RAW REVIEWS RECAPS AND REACTIONS

So, this was a weird show.
It feels like I say that a lot about Raw these days, but there was something that felt strange. I have a theory, and I’ll address that after talking about the big topic of this episode.
So... Kofi Kingston.
I did not originally have Kofi as my main feature, but this was that type of episode.
Bobby Lashley and MVP (and Lashley’s ladies) started the show, and MVP said that he and Lashley were so confident, that they would issue an open challenge. Immediately, Drew McIntyre’s music hit, but MVP had to stop him and say that what he was about to say was that neither he or Braun Strowman were allowed to answer it.
So McIntyre attacked him to try and get a rise out of Lashley.
Throughout the night, a few wrestlers addressed this open challenge - Sheamus, Damian Priest, and Shelton Benjamin. Sheamus and Priest won their matches, while Benjamin was a Lumberjack. Yes, a lumberjack tonight. We’ll get there in a bit.
Kingston also won a match, and it was against Randy Orton. So that story was done, and throughout the night we kept being reminded of this open challenge.
Main event time, and the man who answers the challenge is Kofi. Okay. So the bell’s about to ring, and then MVP gets on the apron and says that there was never anything about this being for the WWE title., and the heels do their hahaha we gotcha to Kofi.
I mean, of course WWE doesn’t see it this way, but it was also a hahaha gotcha to us, too.
Another bait and switch to keep us hooked for the main event and hopefully get some more viewers for the third hour, which, USA Network, you need to cut.
And Kofi won! Not clean, mind you. Via an assist from of all people, Drew. Drew knew exactly where to come in to stop MVP from attacking Kofi with his cane, and Kofi pinned the WWE champion.
Now you’d think that this big night for Kofi means a main event push, right? Here’s my theory.
WWE has no idea what the hell they’re doing right now on Raw. I would bet money that Kofi wasn’t even a choice to face Lashley before 6 pm the day of this show. Kofi was the only winner to never address the open challenge. On top of that, where does Drew fit in to all this?
And more importantly, why does Drew fit into this at all? It’s time for some freshness in the main event scene.
They have to be using Kofi’s two big wins to do something with him, right? He has to be a new challenger. But sadly, I could also see it just being this week’s booking, and maybe something next week and Kofi goes back to regularly scheduled booking.
I have very little faith in much of anything these days. This ain’t SmackDown!

Asuka’s still on top
Asuka and Charlotte, unsurprisingly, had a fun bout.
It was great to see at the start how much both women know each other. But Asuka got the better of her.
Rhea Ripley came out mid way and Flair was laser focused on her as she attempted a pin. Flair kept bouncing Asuka’s head off the mat and almost made Asuka land on her neck at one point.
Asuka had a near fall with a back slide and hip attack. Ripley was smiling and watching all of this as Flair would look back at her in frustration.
Flair went for a Spanish Fly but Asuka kept herself on the top rope. I don’t know if that was intentional or a botch. Flair rolled her up but Asuka just kicked out.
Ripley and Flair got into it and then shenanigans happened with with Charlotte making the same mistake as yesterday. She lost focus and her opponent took advantage. I did not expect to see Asuka win here.
Last night I said that Asuka was going to be off of the top of the women’s division on Raw, and it appears I was wrong! I’m genuinely happy to see that.
The Queen isn’t done, though. She always gets her way.

Oh my God.
This was ridiculously fun.
When I was told Ricochet was wearing jeans yesterday(I obviously didn't watch it as I didn't talk about it in my recap), I became very sad. But actually I think it really looks good on him. Would be a great heel look for him.
I appreciate how much Sheamus loves his hat and jacket. So much so that he gets furious like someone stole a billion dollars from him.
Okay, yes this makes Ricochet look silly, but they’re not going to present him as anything else. I’m not holding my breath for a serious Ricochet push anymore. So I have to take what I can.
The two had a good match here. I recommend watching. High flying and brutal. I thought both men were legit injured at one point. One of the most brutal looking Brogue Kicks I’ve seen.

Change my mind
Natalya and Tamina were guests on Alexa’s playground.
I tweeted this today after seeing a sweet video with Tamina and Natalya getting their side plates on the titles: “Well this got me a bit emotional. I’ve not been a fan of this but I can’t deny that it’s meaningful to see genuine happiness for winning a championship. I hope that Nattie and Tamina have a good reign.”
I am sad.
Lilly asked the new champs what their favorite color was, and if hurting Reginald was fun. Nattie played along more than Tamina. Black and blue is Tamina’s favorite color because that’s the color Reggie will be if he interfered in their rematch.
The champs left and Alexa and Lilly kept talking to each other.
These bouts become much more interesting when Nia and Tamina are in the ring. Tamina knocked Jax off the ropes and then Alexa and Lilly lit one of the turnbuckles up in Reggie’s face. That distracted Baszler enough to get pinned.
Sure.
Comments are open. Tell me how this is all good. Change my mind.

The Rest
Kofi Kingston defeated Randy Orton
Continued awesomeness from the R-K-Bro saga.
Riddle baited New Day and Orton into meeting up with one another, and Orton wouldn’t apologize to them for the RKOs. Kingston demanded a match between the two old rivals, and Orton accepted. It was a standard match, but the biggest headline from this is Orton was fuming after getting pinned, and he heavily teased an RKO as Riddle’s back was turned. He fought with the voices in his head and decided against it, walking away from the ring. Riddle then got pissed and shoved Woods, so we know what next week’s match will be. That’s fine. This is good stuff.
Damian Priest defeated John Morrison
Hey this is still not over. What a surprise. Some of these lumberjack choices were a bit strange. MACE and T-BAR on one side, Ali on the other, a Titus O’Neil appearance, Mansoor fresh off his loss a few weeks ago, and... Nikki Cross. Yeah. Morrison did some creative parkour around the ring but ended up right back in the ring and down on the mat. Priest did a freakin Hurricanrana and Hit the Lights to win.
After the match, Priest declared that the Miz/Morrison feud is finally over (we’ll see about that!) and that he may accept Lashley’s open challenge. Obviously now we know it wasn’t him, but that was a good promo. I hope to see good things come from this.

Angel Garza defeated Drew Gulak
Angel Garza brought his rose down for me again. I will not be retrieving it from Gulak’s mouth however.
Yuck.

Disqualification station (AJ Styles vs. Elias)
Drop kicks are standard fare in wrestling, but Styles has one of the best in the game. Elias brought some much needed aggression and seriousness since the tomato throwing silliness. I will always pop for Ryker cowering away from Omos. It appears that Styles and Omos are now babyfaces? It was sure booked that way.

Akira Tozawa defeated R-Truth
Hey the 24/7 title exists again
