The same Barth Nnaji that was responsible for the shambolic privitazation of NEPA that threw us into where we are right now. Nigerians truly have a short memory. The solution is not a rocket science, gas production needs to increase to supply gas plants, then transmission infrastructure has to be upgraded to increase capacity, which was the purpose of the deal with Siemens. For long term solution, state governments should start working on the new electricity bill which the President signed into law. |

Only bigotry will make one to sound so foolish without even knowing Why you guys being a bunch of ingrates, why not give credit to the electricity bill signed by the president that made it possible. You think Geometric can distribute and sell power to Aba if the president had not decentralized power?. More than 20years of generating 188MW is not something worth gloating over. |
Politics › Re: Why Every Smart Manufacturer Should Build Their Plant In Aba Now! by Putindbutt(m): 12:13am On Mar 04, 2024 |
OfficialAPCNig: Those investors should go and do it then.
You'll need a new gas pipeline from Imo or Warri to supply enough gas to power the plants and it's not one Naira.
Again, I doubt the current transmission infrastructure can handle up to 15,000 MW daily.
Geometric had to build an entirely independent transmission lines of over 150,000 KM just for the 9 LGAs.
24 hours electricity for Lagos is not a walk in the park Why you dey rush?, na today we dey pipe gas?. We don dey use gas since many decades ago. |

OfficialAPCNig: Was the billed passed when they started building Geometric?
Take it or leave it, Lagos can NEVER generate enough electricity to FULLY power the state in the next 50 years. The state needs between 10,000 MW - 15,000MW to FULLY power all its activities. Nigeria as a nation can't even generate up to 6,000 MW since independence. The only saving grace of Geometric was that he completed the project at the time electricity bill has already been passed. Lagos govt does not need to generate power itself, investors, communities, individuals, companies, tertiary institutions would do that. ignorant folks should pick up the bill and read. |

OfficialAPCNig: Na 188MW you called small? You must be uninformed. All the 6 IPPs in Lagos generate a combined output of 47MW.
Building IPP is not the problem, but sourcing the gas. Geometric had to build a 27Km gas pipeline to supply the plant. Imagine if electricity bill was passed at the time Lagos was generating its IPPs, imagine the wonder it would have performed with power. Good thing is, the bill has finally been passed. |

OfficialAPCNig: Yoruba man rest, go get your information right before you disgrace yourself.
The project covers 9 LGAs not 7. It needs 100MW to be FULLY powered, the excess 88MW will be offloaded to the national grid. So, we have extra 88MW to cater to new industries and again the plant is upgradable to over 500MW.
Geometric is not waiting for gas. It already built a 27KM gas pipeline to supply it from Owaza. 188MW for 7 LGs at what amount of loan cost, for a power project that lasted for over 20yrs. universities abroad are building 200MW without any noise. We will not be needing the 88MW on national grid, the 188MW itself is not even enough for the state. |

kikake: Why blame European supremacists?
Did Europeans remove the brains of black people?
Did Europeans remove the brains of Nigerians? Europeans know that countries made up of diverse ethnic and religious groups wl never succeed as a nation; that's why Europeans systematically dismantled nearly all the multi religious and multi ethnic countries that once existed in Europe. But Nigerians watch themselves roast in one dysfunctional country because of lure of cheap cash from crude oil; instead of dividing Nigeria into more manageable countries for peace and development to come to the new countries. It's like Nigerians clutch tight to a sinking ship because the ship is carrying gold. You're ignorant, tell me a nation that went through the type of exploitation like Haiti and survived. |
