He said Indonesia had more Muslims than Nigeria but Indonesia doesn't have the almajiri problem because they have many factories where the people can work. He simply said if we managed our country properly our people would not have to beg on the street.
I'm not one of his fans, but he spoke the truth here. Tinubu, if he means we'll, for the northerners should be saying the same thing Kalashnikov49: @slytiger

Politics › FG Secured 860 Terrorism Convictions, 891 Acquittals From 2017 To Date - AGF by Putindbutt(op): 10:32am On Dec 10, 2025 |
The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, said Nigeria has secured 860 terrorism-related convictions and recorded 891 acquittals between 2017 and 2025, underscoring the government’s commitment to due process in the prosecution of extremist-related offences.
Fagbemi disclosed this on Tuesday while speaking with judiciary correspondents after a closed-door meeting with a visiting United States congressional delegation to his office in Abuja.
The meeting, he said, was a follow-up to an earlier engagement held in Washington about a month ago.
According to the AGF, the interaction was aimed at giving the U.S. delegation firsthand insight into Nigeria’s security situation and the government’s efforts to address terrorism and violent extremism.
Fagbemi emphasised that while Nigeria faces serious security challenges, they are not religious in nature, but rather issues of criminality that the government is tackling through security operations and legal processes.
“Even though we have challenges in Nigeria, it is not religious; it is a security challenge,” Fagbemi said and added that the government is doing its utmost to ensure that these challenges are addressed.
He explained that the delegation was briefed on progress made in terrorism prosecutions and assured that the Ministry of Justice strictly follows legal procedures.
“What this speaks to, particularly the issue of discharges, is that we don’t just arrest people and clamp them into prison. They are profiled. Those who have nothing to do with the incidents are let off the hook, and those we believe we have cases against are taken to court. It is for the courts to decide”, he said.
Fagbemi, who confirmed that terrorism trials are ongoing, stressed that the country’s security situation, while challenging, is “not as grim as portrayed,” assuring that the government remains committed to restoring peace and stability.
The U.S. congressional delegation, which has been meeting with multiple Nigerian institutions, also visited the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Chief of Defence Staff, civil society groups, and religious organisations as part of its fact-finding mission.
He said the delegation is expected to make his own public remarks before departing Nigeria. https://tribuneonlineng.com/fg-secured-860-terrorism-convictions-891-acquittals-from-2017-to-date-agf-fagbemi/

Following a drug peddling bust, 32 Nigerians linked to a network led by 'Nick' have been deported.
The investigation revealed a vast clientele across India and money laundering schemes involving publishers and businessmen. Further actions are expected against those facilitating financial transactions.
Less than 10 days after EAGLE team in coordination with Delhi police nabbed 50 Nigerians linked to drug peddling, 32 of them have been deported. During the probe, the officials found that the foreign drug peddlers were working for one Nick, who is wanted in multiple cases registered by EAGLE.
"Nick, who is suspected to be operating from Nigeria, has about 100 associates in Delhi alone.
After analysing the gadgets of the peddlers caught, it was found that the network has over 3,000 clientele across India. The assessment was done based on the payments received by the peddlers," senior EAGLE officials told TOI.
Soon, persons or companies which helped these gangs facilitate launder the money would be tracked and booked.
"In one instance, a publisher was involved in laundering 20 lakh to Nigeria by joining hands with peddlers. Similarly, peddlers have tied up with businessmen dealing with footwear and apparel," the sources said. The investigation is still in the initial stages.
In another instance, the arrested accused Badruddin, who was reportedly an associate of Nick, in fact has no garments business in reality, but on paper he has a registered firm, only to launder drug money.
Police found that 15 crore deposited into his bank accounts were immediately withdrawn and the money changed hands and he was assisted by a few other businessmen.
Police are expected to take Badruddin into custody and he might be cited as an accused by EAGLE in the relevant cases registered in Telangana.
While 32 Nigerians were deported by Delhi police on priority in the last few days, among the remaining persons, criminal cases were registered against seven persons from whom drugs were recovered. The rest might also be deported.
The drug peddlers were found supplying the drug from Delhi by using courier services in the disguise of shipping products. When officials verified CCTVs at the courier kiosks in Delhi, they found the operators externally verifying to confirm the product, which the customer sought to be shipped but they did not check if the foreign nationals hid anything. https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/hyderabad/delhi-drug-bust-32-nigerians-deported-so-far/articleshow/125820783.cms

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State is set to announce his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), sources close to the government house have revealed to THE WHISTLER.
The move comes after Fubara ended the protracted rift between him and his estranged political godfather and predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who is the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
The rift, which started towards the end of 2023, saw an attempt to impeach Fubara by members of the Rivers State House of Assembly loyal to Wike.
What began as an alleged misunderstanding over control of state resources and appointments worsened when arsonists torched part of the Rivers State House Assembly complex on October 29, 2023, hours before the pro-Wike lawmakers planned to impeach the governor.
At the peak of the crisis, President Bola Tinubu declared a State of Emergency in Rivers in March 2025, which saw Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Odu, and all elected members of the House of Assembly suspended for an initial six months.
Former Chief of Naval Staff, Ibok Ekwe Ibas, was appointed as the sole administrator of the state.
Fubara, his deputy and the lawmakers were restored after the suspension was lifted in September 2025.
Fubara had a closed-door meeting with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa on Monday night. https://thewhistler.ng/exclusive-fubara-to-announce-defection-to-apc/

Politics › Court Rejects Kanu Transfer Request From Sokoto Prison, Orders Motion On Notice by Putindbutt(op): 12:38pm On Dec 08, 2025 |
The Federal High Court in Abuja has rejected an application filed by the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, seeking his transfer from the Sokoto Correctional Centre to a custodial facility within the Federal Capital Territory or neighbouring Nasarawa State.
Kanu, through the Legal Aid Council, had approached the court with an ex-parte application requesting an order directing the Federal Government or the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) to immediately move him from Sokoto to either Kuje Custodial Centre in Abuja or Keffi Custodial Centre in Nasarawa.
In the alternative, he asked to be transferred to any custodial facility within the court’s jurisdiction, including Suleja or Keffi, to enable him to effectively pursue his appeal.
Kanu, through the Legal Aid Council, filed an ex parte application, urging the court to move him from Sokoto prison to either Kuje Prison (FCT) or Keffi Custodial Centre in Nasarawa State.
He argued that a transfer was necessary “for the purpose of enabling the applicant to effectively prosecute his constitutionally guaranteed right of appeal.”
His pleadings sought a court order compelling the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) and/or the Federal Government to “forthwith transfer him … to a custodial facility within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court.”
However, Justice James Omotosho on Monday declined the request, ruling that such an order could not be granted without hearing from the Federal Government.
The judge directed Kanu to convert the ex-parte application into a motion on notice and serve all parties to allow fair hearing.
Justice Omotosho subsequently fixed January 27, 2026, for the hearing of the motion.
Legal observers say this move aligns with standard procedure: while ex parte motions may be used in urgent or exceptional cases, they are granted sparingly, particularly in matters where the decision would affect another party.
Last week, Justice Omotosho had declined to accept the appearance of Kanu’s younger brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, as representative of the IPOB leader, because Prince Emmanuel is not a lawyer.
Faced with this ruling, the court’s fresh demand for a motion on notice underscores its insistence that all procedural safeguards, including proper representation and hearing of all sides, be respected before any order is made.
Kanu now has to re‑file his request through a motion on notice and notify the government and NCoS. Once served, the parties will be given the opportunity to respond before the court considers whether the transfer should be granted.
For now, he remains at the Sokoto Correctional Facility. https://thenationonlineng.net/just-in-court-rejects-nnamdi-kanus-request-to-be-transferred-from-sokoto-prison/

As much as I can tell, South Africans are more sensible than wailers. South Africa has myriads of problems, the country is seriously battling with mass shootings but at no point will you see South Africans come on Nairaland to put down their country. Whenever they create threads here, it's positive news about their country and are ready to engage in fisticuffs when you trying to say something negative about them. From the humiliation of Ramaphosa in the White house, to the UN and to the G20 summit, majority of South Africans stood by their country not necessarily by their President. Unlike wailers & the bitter people who go everywhere on social media pulling down their country unnecessarily. I'm like you guys were not the first people to lose an election in Nigeria but if you continue in your shenanigans and refused to change your gutter mindsets, then you will grow old trying to get to power in Nigeria. |
