PoliticsRe: FG Moves To Secure $5.7bn China Investments Across Key Sectors by Putindbutt(op): 5:04pm On Feb 26
The fearless Jagaban. US lawmakers can write any useless reports and submit to Trump about China's mining business in Nigeria. As a sovereign nation, we open our borders to whoever we want and no baga can dictate to us as we do not dictate to the US.

Let Trump stay put in DR Congo and continue stealing away their mineral resources to the US. They are not going to have any access to any of our mineral resources in Nigeria. We prefer China, we love China.

China is not just here mining and stealing away our resources as US does in Congo and other African countries, China is here adding values to our resources and creating employment opportunities for Nigerians.

China has set up two lithium manufacturing factories in Nigeria to the tune of $1.3 billion within four years. Not only that, China is already setting up a $400 million steel factory in Nigeria.

We will continue buying US weapons, that's all they're useful for, to sell weapons to us. Just as 85% of their weapons find their way into the hands of Mexican drug cartels yet same US is crying foul of drugs coming into their country. Such a hypocritical country.
PoliticsFG Moves To Secure $5.7bn China Investments Across Key Sectors by Putindbutt(op): 4:50pm On Feb 26
The Federal Government is deepening negotiations to secure up to $5.7bn in strategic investments from China across critical sectors of the economy, the Ministry of Finance said on Monday.

In a statement issued after a meeting in Abuja, the ministry revealed that the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, “received a high-level delegation from GCL Group in Abuja, led by Orji Uzor Kalu, as Nigeria moves to secure up to $5.7bn in strategic investments across power, mining and industrial manufacturing.”

According to the statement, the proposed funding is expected to cover energy generation, mineral development, and industrial production.

“The proposals include large-scale energy generation, local mineral processing and new factories aimed at boosting jobs, exports and value addition,” the ministry stated.

The engagement, it explained, forms part of broader efforts to expand productive capacity and reposition the economy through carefully targeted foreign direct investments.

The statement added that the discussions are “backed by reforms under Bola Ahmed Tinubu” and reflect “rising investor confidence” in Nigeria’s economic direction.

It further noted that the talks align with the country’s wider economic strategy, particularly the transition “from raw exports to domestic production,” with emphasis on “strengthening energy security, industrial capacity and long-term economic growth.”

While the ministry did not provide additional specifics on the proposed projects, it stated that the engagement is consistent with the administration’s industrialisation and economic reform agenda.

PoliticsThe Allegation That El-rufai Bled From His Nose Is Not True – ICPC by Putindbutt(op): 4:31pm On Feb 25
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has denied claims that former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, suffered a nosebleed while in its custody.

The anti-graft agency was reacting to allegations made by El-Rufai’s spokesman, Muyiwa Adekeye, who claimed that the former governor experienced a health challenge in detention.

ICPC spokesperson, Okor Odey, dismissed the allegation in a statement on Tuesday.

“The allegation that he (El-Rufai) bled from his nose yesterday while in the custody of the ICPC is not true please,” Odey said.

El-Rufai has been in ICPC custody since February 18 following his release by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), where he spent two nights.

Adekeye had earlier alleged that El-Rufai’s legal team had not been shown any remand order, authorising his continued detention beyond 48 hours without charge. He also claimed that members of the former governor’s family were experiencing difficulties accessing him in detention.

It's funny when some Bitter people are trying to rub in their usual tribal sentiments into the recent appointment. How can any sensible person compare a man whose career is all about security intelligence with someone who has spent most of his career being a spokesman for the police force. They have also quickly forgotten it was under Tinubu that Frank Mba was promoted to DIG, a double promotion within three months, who else could have made it possible if not Tinubu.

PoliticsPhone Tapping: ICPC Still Holding El-rufai, DSS Tells Court by Putindbutt(op): 3:57pm On Feb 25
A Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed April 23 for the arraignment of former Governor of Kaduna State Nasir El-Rufai on allegation of cybercrime and breach of communication brought against him by the Department of the State Service (DSS).

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik on
Wednesday adjourned the matter after El Rufai failed to appear in court.

Counsel for the DSS, Oluwole Aladedoye (SAN), informed the court that the former governor was still with the Independent Corrupt and Practices Commission (ICPC) for investigation on other matters.

He said that DSS has no control over the sister agency and requested an adjournment to March 23.

Although, counsel to El-Rufai, Oluwole Iyamu, did not oppose adjournment, but he vehemently demanded for bail for the former governor.
He cited several authorities to back up the request for bail.

However, the DSS lawyer vehemently opposed the bail request on the ground that it was premature, adding that the issue of bail can only be raised after the formal arraignment.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik after taking the arguments declined to grant the bail request, adding that her court was not yet seized of the matter.

In the three-count charge, the federal government in the charge stated that El Rufai, on February 13, while appearing as a guest on Arise TV Station’s Prime Time Programme in Abuja, admitted during the interview that he and his cohorts unlawfully intercepted the phone communications of the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 12 (1) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) Amendment, Act, 2024.

In count two, El Rufai was accused of stating on Arise TV Station’s Prime Time Programme in Abuja “during the interview that you know and relate with certain individual, who unlawfully intercepted the phone communications of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, without reporting the said individual to relevant security agencies and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 27(b) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) Amendment, Act, 2024.”

In count three, the federal government alleged that El Rufal, and others at large did use technical equipment or systems which compromised public safety, national security and instilling reasonable apprehension of insecurity among Nigerians by unlawfully intercepting the phone communications of the NSA Ribadu, “to which you admitted during an interview on 13th February, 2026, on Arise TV Station’s Prime Time Programme in Abuja and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 131 (2) Nigerian Communications Act 2003.”

PoliticsRe: Why Tinubu Lost 2023 Presidential Election In Lagos – Obanikoro by Putindbutt(m): 9:25pm On Feb 24
Point of correction, 2023 wasn't the first time, we had MKO/Kingibe ticket in 1993. I believed it genuinely escaped his mind.

But of course, Nigeria being a religious country, religion played a huge role during the last election, especially culminating into the period wailers were everywhere shouting about "Islamization and fulanization" during Buhari's regime. That fear was even more exaggerated as we approached 2023 election.

I remember seeing lots of Pastors use their pulpits for heavy religious campaigns while a certain Gbajue took the advantage of turning almost all church altars in the country into political podiums.

Lots of APC Christian members in Benue, Plateau down to Bauchi and Adamawa angrily left the party. Today, they have all returned to APC in even larger number, seeing that President Tinubu genuinely loves all religion adherents equally with more Christian appointees holding more powerful and key positions in his Govt.

There's no way there will be a repeat of 2023, there's no way that religious-war fraud will use same old failed expired format again in 2027. That's why he had quickly run to meet his boss in the coalition of failures to beg and cry for VP slot.

PoliticsNobody Gave Me Money To Defect To APC, Says Governor Kefas by Putindbutt(op): 5:34pm On Feb 24
Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has denied claims that financial incentives influenced his recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking with State House correspondents after a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, the governor described reports of a “cash-for-defection” deal as unfounded.

“Nobody gave me money to defect to the APC,” he said, maintaining that his decision was based on conviction and what he termed strategic considerations for the development of Taraba State.

He expressed satisfaction with his new political platform, saying he was optimistic about the opportunities it presents for deeper engagement with the Federal Government.

Kefas further declared confidence in his ability to deliver Taraba State for President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, citing what he described as improvements in security and governance outcomes across key sectors.

“Delivering Taraba will not be difficult because our policies are already impacting the grassroots,” he said.

Kefas also addressed speculations of a strained relationship between him and former Defence Minister, General Theophillus Danjuma insisting that no disagreement exists between them.

“I don’t have any problem with TY Danjuma; he is my father. Since we started politics, nothing has ever come between us. People just speculate, but there is no issue at all,” he stated.

The governor said he informed the retired general before leaving the PDP and obtained his blessing, adding that Danjuma, though not affiliated with any political party, remains a respected father figure.

According to Kefas, discussions with the President centred on security, agriculture and the welfare of residents of Taraba State.

PoliticsThose Who Mean Well For Kano People Must Align With Tinubu – Gov Yusuf by Putindbutt(op): 4:31pm On Feb 24
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, has said that anyone who means well for the People of Kano State will have no choice but to aligns himself to the central Federal Government of President Ahmad Bola Tinubu.

The Governor while buttressing his earlier submission on why he and many others joined APC, insisted that, “anyone who means well for the people of Kano should align with the Federal Government, because we have missed a lot.”

Governor Yusuf submitted that Kano political gladiators are more united now than ever in its political history.

He made the pronouncement when the Ward and Local Government Congress Committee paid him a courtesy visit on Monday.

This was contained in a Press Release by Mustapha Muhammad, the Chief Press Secretary to the Kano State Governor.

Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf emphasized that since he and many others decamped to APC, more people keep reuniting, saying that divided family are also reuniting.

He commended the committee for a well-done job on the wards and Local Government congresses across the state.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the Ward/LGA Congress Committee, Mr Lantep Dabang, thanked the Governor for the compassion and good leadership he played during the sharing formula of the positions.

He added that Governor Abba Yusuf is the man of integrity and justice.

PoliticsCourt Fixes Date For Nasir El-Rufai’s Cybercrime Trial by Putindbutt(op): 1:36pm On Feb 20
The State Security Service (SSS) will on February 25 arraign former Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State on alleged cybercrime and breach of national security, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court (FHC) fixed the date after the Chief Judge, Justice John Tsoho, assigned the case to her.

NAN earlier reported that the SSS on Monday filed a three-count criminal charge against Mr El-Rufai following his alleged involvement in wiretapping the telephone lines of the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu.

The charge, instituted by the Nigerian secret police, is marked: FHC/ABJ/CR/99/2026.
The service accused Mr El-Rufai of breaching the Cybercrimes Prohibition Act (2024) and the Nigerian Communications Act (2003).

In count one, Mr El-Rufai was alleged to have, on February 13, while appearing as a guest on Arise TV station’s Prime Time Programme in Abuja, admitted that he and his cohorts unlawfully intercepted the phone communications of the NSA, Mr Ribadu.

The offence is said to be contrary to and punishable under Section 12(1) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) Amendment Act, 2024.

In count two, the ex-governor was alleged to have, on February 13, while appearing as a guest on Arise TV station’s Prime Time Programme in Abuja, stated during the interview that he knew and related with a certain individual, who unlawfully intercepted the phone communications of the NSA, without reporting the said individual to relevant security agencies.

The offence is said to be contrary to and punishable under Section 27 (b) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) Amendment Act, 2024.

Count three alleged that Mr El-Rufai and others still at large, sometime in 2026, in Abuja, did use technical equipment or systems that compromised public safety and national security, and instilled reasonable apprehension of insecurity among Nigerians, by unlawfully intercepting NSA’s phone communications.
.
The SSS said the ex-governor admitted the act during an interview on February 13 on Arise TV station’s Prime Time Programme in Abuja, “and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 131(2) Nigerian Communications Act 2003.”

Mr El-Rufai had, during a live interview on the TV station, claimed he overheard Mr Ribadu directing security operatives to detain him, linking the alleged directive to the attempt to arrest him at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on February 12, after his return from Cairo, Egypt.

The former governor was detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday over corruption allegations.

He was granted administrative bail at about 8 p.m. on Wednesday but was said to have been immediately taken into custody by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC ).

The ICPC’s Spokesperson, John Odey, who confirmed the development in a message shared on a journalist’s WhatsApp group Wednesday night, said: “Malam Nasiru El-Rufai is in the custody of the commission in connection with ongoing investigations.”
