The media is powerful. Just yesterday night on Arise Primetime, former SSA to the president Alitu Audu called the president out for his anti democratic stance on the issue of the chairmanship of the party.

PoliticsFG Begins Consumer Credit Disbursement In Abia by Putindbutt(op): 4:35pm On Jun 27, 2025
The Federal Government has commenced the disbursement of consumer credit to some market women in Abia through the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation.

Launching the disbursement in Aba on Thursday, the Managing Director of CREDICORP, Mr Uzoma Nwagba, said the scheme would enable citizens to access goods and services on credit. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that CREDICORP is a government-owned development finance institution committed to enhancing consumer credit access.

Nwagba, represented by the Executive Director, Credit and Portfolio Management, Mrs Aisha Abdullahi, said the aim was to boost the quality of life and financial inclusion. According to him, the initiative, which was unveiled by the Federal Government in April, offered Nigerians interest-free consumer credit of up to N2 million.

He announced that the institution was in partnership with Sytiamo Technologies Limited to lend to market women across the country.

Nwagba further explained that CREDICORP would not lend directly to individuals but would support financial institutions that provide credit.

“This does not require any collateral; rather, the applicant would provide the Biometric Verification Number, National Identification Number, passport, business address and the guarantor’s letter to access the fund,” he said.

The Managing Director, Sytiamo, Mr Michael Ogba, said that the role of his organisation was to get the money from the Federal Government and make it available to traders.

He said that the company was collaborating with the executive of Ariaria Main Market, Aba, and would make the fund easily available to any identified member who applied for it.

Ogba said that the target was to empower about 20,000 traders in Abia. He said, “We will continue to give them as long as they pay back. We are starting with traders because they are organised and we can locate them easily.

“As an organisation, we do micro lending and have given loans to over 20,000 people across Nigeria, but with the Federal Government, we are starting with 100,000 people. “Our aim is to give funds to one million market women across Nigeria.”

Ogba, however, said that disbursement would continue in other states. The Chairman of Ariaria Main Market Association, Mr Mike Anioji, lauded the initiative, saying that the executive would make sure that those who borrowed paid back.

NAN reports that there was jubilation at the venue of the launch as some traders, who filled the forms on Wednesday, announced that they had received credit alerts for the facility.

PoliticsKano Explosion Caused By Unexploded Ordnance (UXO), Not IED – Police by Putindbutt(op): 2:26pm On Jun 26, 2025
The Kano Police Command has said the explosion recorded in the eastern bypass of the state was from Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) and not from an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) as earlier speculated.

The Command’s Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Hussaini Abdullahi, said the revelation followed a post-blast investigation by the Command’s team of Explosive Ordnance Disposal – Chemical Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) Unit Personnel.

Abdullahi said the UXOs had been unknowingly conveyed alongside scrap metals from Yobe State, and one of them accidentally exploded during the process of offloading.

He also said the team had recovered a total of nine UXO after the ugly incident that claimed the lives of five and left several others with varying degrees of injuries.

According to him, “Following the incident of explosion at Yongxing Steel Company located along Ring Road, Mariri Quarters, Kano, at about 11:30 AM on Saturday, the 21st of June, 2025, a post-blast investigation by the command’s team of Explosive Ordnance Disposal – Chemical Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) Unit Personnel reveals the explosion came from an Unexploded Ordnance (UXO), NOT from an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) as was initially speculated.

“The UXOs had been unknowingly conveyed alongside scrap metals from Yobe State, and one of them was accidentally exploded during the process of offloading.

“Premised on this, the command urges members of the public to remain calm and avoid unnecessary panic, as there is no imminent security threat.

“Furthermore, in addition to the earlier 7 recovered UXOs, 2 UXOs were later recovered from the scene, bringing it to a total of nine that have been recovered.

“The State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, extends his condolences to the families of the 5 persons who lost their lives in the blast and prays for the speedy recovery of others injured, all of whom are currently receiving treatment at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has explained what really caused the deadly explosion that happened in Kano on June 21, 2025.

Egbetokun said a truck came into Kano from Yobe State carrying a load of scrap metal. He said the company that brought the metal scraps to Kano did not know that they were UXO (unexploded ordnance).

Egbetokun said UXOs are often found in battle areas where the military has operated. He said they look like ordinary metal pieces, so scavengers usually pick them up without knowing how dangerous they are.

Egbetokun said that when the truck arrived in Kano with the metals scraps containing UXOs, one of it exploded. He said that was what caused the blast and the deaths. He said this was not a case of criminals planting a bomb or using explosives on purpose.

In Egbetokun's words: "In Kano there was no bombing in, what happened was there was an explosion. A truck came from Yobe State loaded with metal scraps, unknown to the company that brought the metal scraps to Kano, the metal scraps contained UXOs. UXOs are Unexploded Ordnance, military ordnance that are not exploded.

"They look like metal if you see them. You see them in battle areas where the military have operated, when you see them they look like normal metals so these scavengers would pick them and put them in their scraps. That was what happened in Kano, so it was not a case of IED, it was a case of UXO exploding. So there was no bombing in Kano"

PoliticsGov Nwifuru’s Agric Policies Hailed As Price Of Rice Crashes To N22,000 by Putindbutt(op): 11:03am On Jun 26, 2025
The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Princess Nkechinyere Iyioku, yesterday, said that the agricultural policies of Governor Francis Nwifuru are yielding results, noting that the price of rice have crashed from N40,000 to N22,000.

Iyioku stated this during a chat with journalists in Abakaliki, disclosing that the state recently hosted agricultural experts from Thailand for a one-day training session focused on rice and livestock production, adding that over 100 farmers selected across the state participated in the training.

The Commissioner noted that she intensified government efforts to boost food security by distributing agricultural inputs to farmers, supporting year-round farming, and partnering with international experts to improve local agricultural techniques saying that the government agricultural policies are yielding the needed results.

She said the state has seen significant improvement in food availability and affordability since the current administration assumed office in 2023.

“Since we came on board, we have been distributing a lot of agricultural inputs to help our farmers. And we gave them free of charge.

“The results are evident. The cost of rice, for instance, which sold for ₦35,000 to ₦40,000 in December now goes for between ₦22,000 and ₦25,000,” she said
.

She attributed the drop in prices to increased participation in farming and government support.

“Many people have returned to the farms in Ebonyi State and the price of food is gradually coming down,” she said, expressing optimism that prices could drop further to pre-inflation levels of ₦10,000 to ₦12,000 per bag of rice.

PoliticsMai Jakka Killed In Zamfara by Putindbutt(op): 9:42am On Jun 26, 2025
Reports from North West Nigeria says Mai Jakka, a feared bandit who turned social media celebrity by flaunting his exploits, has finally met his end.

He was reportedly killed in an operation carried out in Garaji village, located in the Mayanchi axis of Zamfara State.

The news was confirmed in a post on X (formerly Twitter) by the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Governor of Kaduna State, Abdallah Yunus Abdallah who cited intelligence reports from the area.

He wrote, “Reports coming out of Mayanchi axis of Zamfara reports that the security forces have eliminated notorious bandit TikToker Mai Jakka in Garaji village.”

Although details are still emerging, residents of the region are beginning to breathe a little easier.
Mai Jakka wasn’t just any bandit — he became infamous for glamorizing violence on TikTok, turning scenes of destruction into viral content, and mocking the pain of those he dealt with.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement, but sources suggest the operation was part of a broader crackdown targeting high-profile terrorists in the region.

If you claim Mr. Obi ought to wait for the court before making any declarations, why did you not wait for courts pronouncements on the issue before embarking on a demolition process.

Also, how is Mr Obi wrong in the sense that every demolition must be proceeded with a court order which ought to have been presented to the property owner before the demolition exercise.
