Let me start by saying the ONLY reason I'm posting this is to help my fellow nairalanders the little way I can considering the situation of things in the country as of today as I have not made any post or comment on this forum for years. Now to the main gist:
KML Technologies Limited is a CAD communication and telecommunication company operating in 6 different countries. It is a digital technology based product, support and service providing organization with a strong clientele database in Nigeria.
With the ongoing recession in the country and expansion, KML Technologies Limited (Nigeria) is looking at returning expatriate staffs to their source countries and replacing them with locals(i.e Nigerians). The immediate positions to be filled are:
- Engineers(10 electrical/electronic engineers and 4 civil/structural engineers)
- Business Finance analyst and accountants.
- Logistics and transport manager
- Warehouse manager
- 1 receptionist (for Abuja office)
Please note that applicants for the first 2 positions must be geographically mobile because a lot of traveling will be involved especially for the engineers and consideration is done through referrals. Shortlisting will be done by a headhunter based in UK in sync with the parent company while successful candidates will be contacted for a telephone interview; and later a visit to the Lagos office will be required for assessment and chat with the team. The criteria for shortlisting is unknown to me but I will try and find out.
If qualified and interested kindly send your resume to adekunleoyediran@kmltechng.com for referral. The whole recruitment process is to take 3 months and I will continue to update as things unfold.
N.B: I cannot guarantee any one a position but can only refer.
Please include your area of competence in the mail when sending your resume for better chance of being shortlisted.
Best of Luck.

Please note that period for collection of resumes ended yesterday and resumes of qualified people have been forwarded to the headhunter. Shortlisting begins on Monday in sync with the parent company.

As I promised, I was able to find out some criteria for shortlisting
- Experience in telecommunication is key for the engineers especially people in areas of competence of power, radio, RF, BSS, BTS, MW and NSP. Knowledgeable people in site foundation and structure will also be considered. Also, people with advance knowledge of CAD mapping will be considered.
- For the business finance analysts/accountants, knowledge in BSAR, project accounting, revenue recognition, management budget reporting among others is important. The business accounting software currently used is Oracle so knowledge of the use of the software is an added advantage.
- For the warehouse manager, experience in telecommunication equipment stock and regular deployment to respective sites will be looked at.

Nothing has been said so far on academic qualifications as emphasis is been laid on experience.

I will continue to update as I learn more and will also follow up on the qualified referrals.

Best regards.

Is this real at all? The guy does not even reply or say something at all-

I don't need to respond to all enquiries. The CV of applicants that have forwarded is being reviewed as they come in and those the headhunter believe can add an impact will be communicated. If you feel it's not real then don't bother to forward your resume and like I mentioned in my mail I am only referring your CVs(those I believe are qualified). I have received tons of CV and have responded to those that have contacted me privately through PM and mails. I am a very busy person and only come to the forum to unwind once in a while.

Also, please note that the vacancy are for candidates with experience in the respective fields because they are taking over an already running project so their is little time for training or errors especially the engineers. Like I mentioned, they are taking over from the expatriates that are to return back to their sourced countries.

Politics / Nigerian Buys Gatwick Airport In Uk by Pyramid001: 4:42pm On Feb 17, 2010
Nigerian buys London

Gatwick Airport for $1.4 billion

A Nigerian is reported to have acquired London Gatwick Airport. Adebayo Ogunlesi bought Gatwick for £1.4 billion from the British Airports Authority (BAA Airports Limited). Ogunlesi was last month appointed to Callaway Golf Company's board of directors. The technocrat said the acquisition of Gatwick is a landmark deal. ''We see significant scope to apply both our strong operational focus and our knowledge of the airports sector to make Gatwick an airport of choice." He began stacking up his big deals profile when he joined the top-shelf New York law firm, Cravath, Swain & Moore. It was at the law firm that he jumped at the chance to advise First Boston (which later acquired Credit Suisse in 1997 to form Credit Suisse First Boston or CSFB) on a hugely lucrative Nigerian gas project.

The 56 year old Nigerian is Chairman and Managing Partner of Global Infrastructure Management, LLC, which is a private equity firm with over $5 billion in assets and which invests worldwide in infrastructure assets in the energy, transport, and water and waste industry sectors. Prior to founding Global Infrastructure Management, Ogunlesi spent 23 years at Credit Suisse where he held senior positions, including Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Client Officer and prior to that Global Head of Investment Banking. Ogunlesi has lived in New York for 20 years and is active in volunteer work. But he also cultivates his ties to Africa. He informally advises the Nigerian government on privatisation. And last summer Manute Bol, former NBA center, visited Ogunlesi in his Park Avenue office, seeking donations for a charitable foundation in former basketball star Manute Bol's homeland, Sudan. Ogunlesi walked Bol around the hallways, introducing him to junior staff. It was just another day in the Bayosphere. Ogunlesi attended the prestigious King's College, Lagos. He is a member of the District of Columbia Bar Association. He was a lecturer at Harvard Law School and the Yale School.
Career / Re: How Do I Meet My 200 Million Naira Target By December? by Pyramid001: 11:28am On Dec 02, 2009
I don't know which bank you are working for or which dept you are but the easiest way i can think of right now is for you to go for company tax cheques if it is acceptable to you guys. i know some coys(e.g multinationals and other big coys) pay as much as 200m on a monthly basis for WHT and VAT payment and im sure if you can include others like PAYE to it, you will meet and possibly surpass the said amount.

I really don't understand our banks any more angry.
Car Talk / Re: Brand New Kia Cerato Vs Used Japanese by Pyramid001: 1:58pm On Nov 19, 2009
I have a 'tear nylon' hyundai sonata and a tokunbo 05/06 honda EOD. To be sincere with you, the drive is same. Same comfort, same feeling, same security features, same fuel efficiency. For now i've not spent much money on any of them(apart from servicing though i had an accident with the Sonata but its back on road) and from my small experience with the korean car they are as good as the japanese car as long as you can maintain it. From my opinion, the likes of honda and toyota have just made name for their brand; performance is mainly same. Not sure if Kia and hyundai is same in terms of performance though.

STI means sexually transmitted infection and not TTI toilet transmitted infection. In my own thinking, infections a lady can contract from toilets are very minor that would not require heavy medications.

Yeah STI means sexually transmitted disease but she's with the gist that some STIs can be gotten from use of public toilet and this the doctor say is possible if the toilet was used by an infected person before she used it.

A friend of mine needs advise but i first want to run the issue through my fellow NLers before advicing him.

The gist goes like this:

A very close friend of mine is currently working in a place that makes him highly mobile and sometimes when he needs to embark on a trip he might be given the notice like 10 to 12 hrs before the trip. For this reason, he tries to spend maximum time with his wife when he is in town.

For this particular trip he was to leave on a monday and fortunately the notice was given on a saturday morning. He decides to spend the whole weekend with wifey so she won't miss him so much as he will be away for 6 weeks. That weekend they did the normal lovey dovey thing(i.e watch a movie, walk in the park, a trip to the beach, candlelit dinner and then topped it up with a night making the sheets on the bed rough.) Monday morning he was out on official trip.

He ended up spending 8 wks and when he came back, he came back to a 'im not feeling too good' wifey. Being the loving husband, he quickly took her to their family hospital where after doing a couple of tests they found out she had STI. On hearing this, she started screaming and cursing my guy that he has gone to sleep around and now passed her infections before he left on his trip. The guy not been comfy with this allegation decided to go through same tests and they found him to be negative. Ofcourse, the woman story changed to i got it from the office/dat restaurants toilet.

Now the believe is she cheats when he is not around and whats to know if he should step or still stay.

NLers, over to you. tell me what you will do if it was you?

Ekwere:

@Pyramid, I believed u have some savings that could enable you establish your own business in the terrain that you are familiar with instead of suffering in silence for the sake of still being the big boy. Think of establishing your business and do it right and remember to treat people well when you are up there.

A word is enuf for the wise

My brother, it is not easy to start up something. Im an investor in different sectors(e.g logistics, site build, agriculture) but at the end of the day the few coins u make from where u work counts a lot. I have staffs i pay on a monthly basis but its not like i get jobs that easy. it is from this salary i pay my staffs sometimes when bizness aint booming so u see y i nid a job. I dont want to be an employer that owes his staffs. Also, sometimes it seems like more and more people are starting off what u r into thereby making getting contracts more of people u know that want the service than the quality of service been provided. Atimes it seems like if im out there 24/7 i will get more jobs but how sure is this. Whichever way, i plan to resign and face my bizness squarely early next year and i pray i excel in it. Thx for the advise though.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: New Job by Pyramid001: 10:29am On Oct 22, 2009
My Fellow NLers, im very happy for those of you just securing good jobs and respect those of you that have the guts to resign from one.

I wish i can gather enough guts to do same as im VERY tired of where i work presently. Im working in one of these multinationals where your career path is dependent solely on your manager and unfortunately my current manager/country controller has a candidate for my desk. He is a lebanese guy and he brought in his country man like 6 months ago to come and support me as my colleagues(2 of them) resigned around the same time. Both of these colleagues had the kind of guts im wishing for although one of them got a better job before tendering her resignation. Now ive bn able to employ 3 guys one of which is a senior position and so i don't need the help/support of this 6 months that is now turning to 1 yr help. My manager has said he should remain there and now some of my mgt accesses are bn disabled and given to the guy all in the name of responsibility sharing. All of a sudden he has issues with everything i do; a job ive been doing for 6 yrs without issues(e.g your presentation is not good enough, you are too close to the customer - 'Hello, can someone pls tell him you sometimes need customer relationship to get results'., e.t.c). A lot of things i can't bother u guys with. Ive learnt that it is not always about the pay although it is important. a lot of people will do anything for this job buts its when u get there that u see u need to eat sh*t. He wants me to convert the guy to a permanent staff but wont approve the conversion of my own staffs to permanent.

One thing i've learnt is ur cert and experience only gets u to the door, its ass licking and [i]high service that gets u going. I don't look forward to work as before and thats why i spend more time on NL cheesy grin. the motivation is no more there.

Imagine my controller telling me im too straight forward that u need to be political sometimes if u wanna make it. Left to me i think he sees his new appointment as the controller a GOLDMINE but now sees me as an obstruction(Like the time he wanted to buy a Lexus jeep - 17m for himself which is far above his limit and i did not approve). Its only here i know the expats come and give us bullsh*t and nothing happens. Im widely travelled and ive not seen it in any other country.

I go back to say 'i wish i had the guts to resign' - but man must chop now and continue to be a big boy although suffering in silence.
