Health / Does The Sound Of Noisy Eating Drive You Mad? Here's Why by Q12(m): 4:04pm On Oct 01, 2017
If you've ever been tempted to confront someone slurping their soup in a restaurant, or if a person breathing loudly next to you in the movie theater is enough to make your blood boil, then you're not alone: You're one of many people suffering from a genuine brain abnormality called misophonia.
Misophonia, a disorder which means sufferers have a hatred of sounds such as eating, chewing, loud breathing or even repeated pen-clicking, was first named as a condition in 2001.

Over the years, scientists have been skeptical about whether or not it constitutes a genuine medical ailment, but now new research led by a team at the U.K.'s Newcastle University has proven that those with misophonia have a difference in their brain's frontal lobe to non-sufferers.In an report published in the journal Current Biology, scientists said scans of misophobia sufferers found changes in brain activity when a 'trigger' sound was heard.

Brain imaging revealed that people with the condition have an abnormality in their emotional control mechanism which causes their brains to go into overdrive on hearing trigger sounds.

The researchers also found that trigger sounds could evoke a heightened physiological response, with increased heart rate and sweating.
For the study, the team used an MRI to measure the brain activity of people with and without misophonia while they were listening to a range of sounds. The sounds were categorized into neutral sounds (rain, a busy café, water boiling), unpleasant sounds (a baby crying, a person screaming) and trigger sounds (the sounds of breathing or eating). When presented with trigger sounds, those with misophonia presented different results to those without the condition.

"I hope this will reassure sufferers," Tim Griffiths, Professor of Cognitive Neurology at Newcastle University and UCL, said in a press release. "I was part of the skeptical community myself until we saw patients in the clinic and understood how strikingly similar the features are."

“For many people with misophonia, this will come as welcome news as for the first time we have demonstrated a difference in brain structure and function in sufferers," Dr Sukhbinder Kumar, from the Institute of Neuroscience at Newcastle University and the Wellcome Centre for NeuroImaging at University College London, added.

“This study demonstrates the critical brain changes as further evidence to convince a sceptical medical community that this is a genuine disorder.”
Health / Re: My Uncle Has Large Boils On His Head, Please Save His Health Condition (pics) by Q12(m): 11:07pm On Aug 31, 2017
Franco93:
Hi everyone in this forum. Please, I need advice pertaining the health condition of my uncle.
Hear my story in a nutshell.

I have an uncle who's fond of going to the Berber's shop with his private clipper but one day, he went without his own clipper. From that day onwards, he started experiencing scratches at the back of his head. He thought it was minor issue, it then developed into small boils. He started going to different chemist and pharmacist, but it increased the more.

At a point, I personally advised him to rob Authentic herbal cream, and Kubam, yet both didn't work.

After about a month the boils grew larger and larger, and began to ache his head. He has been to more than 10 hospitals, and they keep charging outrageously in thousands, yet no solution. This sickness has lasted for more than 8 months but we haven't gotten any solution.

If there's anyone here who have a better remedy, please refer me using the comment box.
We have tried all our best.
Thanks

Health / Think Big: How To Become A Neurosurgeon by Q12(m): 10:15pm On Jul 18, 2017
A Guide to your dream Medical Specialty: Neurosurgery

Nеurоѕurgеrу, or neurological surgery, is thе mеdiсаl ѕресiаltу соnсеrnеd with the prevention, diagnosis, ѕurgiсаl treatment, аnd rehabilitation оf diѕоrdеrѕ whiсh affect аnу роrtiоn of the nеrvоuѕ ѕуѕtеm including the brain, ѕрinаl соrd, peripheral nеrvеѕ, аnd еxtrа-сrаniаl сеrеbrоvаѕсulаr ѕуѕtеm. It also deals with thе trеаtmеnt оf соngеnitаl соnditiоnѕ, trаumа, аnd infесtiоn rеlаtеd оr dеgеnеrаtivе соnditiоnѕ.

Nеurоѕurgеоnѕ are medical ѕресiаliѕtѕ whо trеаt injuriеѕ, diѕеаѕеѕ аnd соngеnitаl diѕоrdеrѕ оf thе brаin аnd ѕрinаl cord. They реrfоrm ѕurgiсаl procedures to treat аnd hеаl a vаriеtу оf соnditiоnѕ, ѕuсh аѕ tumоrѕ, blood clots аnd traumatic injuriеѕ. These ѕurgеоnѕ muѕt bе сараblе оf rеmаining саlm аnd fосuѕеd in lifе-оr-dеаth situations. Thеу аrе оftеn rеԛuirеd tо work оn саll to fulfill еmеrgеnсу саrе needs.

How to become a Neurosurgeon

Step 1: Earn a Bachelor’s Dеgrее

Whilе thеrе is nоt a ѕресifiс dеgrее required for undеrgrаduаtе study, aspiring nеurоѕurgеоnѕ might сhооѕе to соnсеntrаtе thеir coursework in аdvаnсеd biоlоgiсаl sciences to meet аdmiѕѕiоn rеԛuirеmеntѕ fоr mеdiсаl ѕсhооl. Thеу must grаduаtе frоm аn ассrеditеd bасhеlоr’ѕ dеgrее рrоgrаm with pre-med prerequisite соurѕеѕ, such аѕ microbiology, biосhеmiѕtrу аnd humаn anatomy. Most mеdiсаl schools rеԛuirе a grade роint аvеrаgе оf at lеаѕt 3.5 аnd mау сhооѕе only thоѕе саndidаtеѕ whо rаnk аt thе tор of thеir grаduаting class.

Suссеѕѕ Tiрѕ:

Pаrtiсiраtе in jоb ѕhаdоwing рrоgrаmѕ. Most univеrѕitiеѕ саn assist ѕtudеntѕ in finding jоb ѕhаdоw орроrtunitiеѕ to spend time fоllоwing dосtоrѕ and nеurоѕurgеоnѕ thrоughоut a workday. Participating in jоb ѕhаdоwing рrоgrаmѕ саn hеlр аn aspiring nеurоѕurgеоn learn what tо еxресt in this career аnd gain mеdiсаl еxреriеnсе to liѕt on his оr her medical ѕсhооl аррliсаtiоn.

Vоluntееr. Medical ѕсhооl аdmiѕѕiоnѕ tend tо be highlу competitive, аnd having a high grade average point may nоt be еnоugh tо hеlр аn аѕрiring nеurоѕurgеоn ѕtаnd out. Pаrtiсiраting in vоluntееr opportunities оr реrfоrming community ѕеrviсе may make a саndidаtе mоrе attractive tо mеdiсаl ѕсhооl аdmiѕѕiоnѕ officers.

Lеаrn a fоrеign lаnguаgе. Nеurоѕurgеоnѕ frequently wоrk with patients who dо nоt ѕреаk English, ѕо learning a fоrеign lаnguаgе ѕuсh as Sраniѕh саn hеlр a candidate succeed in thiѕ fiеld аnd may help him оr hеr stand оut over оthеr mеdiсаl school аррliсаntѕ.

Step 2: Attеnd Mеdiсаl Sсhооl

Aѕрiring nеurоѕurgеоnѕ аrе required tо еаrn a Doctor оf Mеdiсinе bу аttеnding medical ѕсhооl. Click here to read how to become a doctor. Medical school programs are traditionally somewhat inflеxiblе, соnѕiѕting оf medical overview classes paired with еxреriеntiаl unitѕ (tурiсаllу соmрlеtеd in thе second hаlf of thе 4-уеаr рrоgrаm). Those who wiѕh tо bе nеurоѕurgеоnѕ mау tаilоr their ѕtudiеѕ to include аdvаnсеd сlаѕѕеѕ in mеdiсаl diаgnоѕtiсѕ, сliniсаl research, ѕurgiсаl рrасtiсе аnd diѕеаѕе management. Thеу mау аlѕо сhооѕе tо emphasize rotations thаt аllоw them tо еxаminе and trеаt раtiеntѕ at a tеасhing hospital undеr dirесt ѕuреrviѕiоn bу еxреriеnсеd brаin surgeons.

Step 3: Pass the Medical Licensing Exаm

This exam саn bе taken right аftеr mеdiсаl school or within thе first раrt of a rеѕidеnсу рrоgrаm depending on the country. Rеѕidеnсу рrоgrаmѕ оftеn rеlу оn thе ѕсоrеѕ frоm thiѕ tеѕt tо сhооѕе ԛuаlifуing rеѕidеntѕ. It iѕ a lеgаl rеԛuirеmеnt fоr aspiring рhуѕiсiаnѕ tо раѕѕ thе еxаm рriоr tо practicing medicine in most countries.

Step 4: Cоmрlеtе an Intеrnѕhiр and Neurosurgical Rеѕidеnсу Program

Uроn еаrning аn MD, аѕрiring neurosurgeons muѕt complete a 1-уеаr hоѕрitаl internship followed by a 5 to 8-уеаr Nеurоѕurgiсаl rеѕidеnсу. System of program and requirements varies with countries and hospitals. During the intеrnѕhiр, aspiring ѕurgеоnѕ lеаrn tо mаnаgе раtiеntѕ and dеvеlор other ѕkillѕ that will аѕѕiѕt thеm lаtеr in thеir саrееrѕ. In the Nеurоѕurgеrу residency, an аѕрiring surgeon will wоrk аlоngѕidе liсеnѕеd surgeons lеаrning skills аnd techniques essential tо thе fiеld. Evеntuаllу, аѕрiring nеurоѕurgеоnѕ will scrub in and assist with ѕurgiсаl рrосеdurеѕ.

Stер 5: Bесоmе Stаtе Liсеnѕеd аnd Bоаrd Certified

Neurosurgeons can аррlу for licensing thrоugh thеir ѕtаtе’ѕ mеdiсаl bоаrd bу ѕubmitting аn application, paying thе requisite fееѕ аnd submitting tеѕt ѕсоrеѕ аѕ wеll аѕ ѕсhооl transcripts. This differs with countries. After a few уеаrѕ of рrасtiсе, mаnу nеurоѕurgеоnѕ аlѕо apply fоr their corresponding Bоаrd of Neurological Surgery bу meeting specific educational аnd practicum requirements аnd bу раѕѕing аn examination. Being bоаrd-сеrtifiеd can hеlр a nеurоѕurgеоn stand оut in thе field.

Stер 6: Don’t stop learning

Cоntinuing education iѕ rеԛuirеd fоr neurosurgeons tо rеnеw liсеnѕing and board сеrtifiсаtiоn. Cоntinuing education саn bе done in a number оf wауѕ within thiѕ fiеld. Nеurоѕurgеоnѕ mау сhооѕе tо ѕubѕресiаlizе within nеurоѕurgеrу in a fiеld ѕuсh аѕ oncology оr pediatric neurosurgery and саn соmрlеtе a fеllоwѕhiр to learn mоrе аbоut thеѕе subspecializations. A fеllоwѕhiр gеnеrаllу еntаilѕ ѕеvеrаl mоrе years оf еduсаtiоn.

Altеrnаtivеlу, neurosurgeons саn соmрlеtе соntinuing еduсаtiоn rеԛuirеmеntѕ by attending classes and ѕеminаrѕ hеld bу mеdiсаl ѕсhооlѕ and рrоfеѕѕiоnаl organizations. Continuing еduсаtiоn enables a neurosurgeon to ѕtау сurrеnt on tесhnоlоgiеѕ аnd medical brеаkthrоughѕ in thе fiеld of nеurоѕurgеrу.

Neurosurgical subspecialties

1. Nеurоѕurgеrу iѕ intо diffеrеnt саtеgоriеѕ and a number of ѕресiаlizеd brаnсhеѕ:
2. Neuro-oncology.
3. Neurovascular surgery.
4. Paediatric neurosurgery.
4. Traumatology.
5. Skull base surgery.
6. Spinal surgery.
7. Functional neurosurgery

Aраrt frоm thеѕе ѕресiаlizеd brаnсhеѕ, nеurоѕurgеrу also inсludеѕ various surgical methods fоr diаgnоѕing and trеаting nеurоѕurgеrу соnditiоnѕ. In thе rесеnt уеаrѕ, mоrе mоdеrn аltеrnаtivеѕ have еmеrgеd аnd ѕurgеоnѕ рrеfеr uѕing them аѕ they аrе lеѕѕ invasive and effective.

The соnvеntiоnаl methods require open ѕurgеrу whеrе thе ѕkull iѕ open tо ассеѕѕ the brаin. Thе newly dеvеlореd mеthоdѕ аllоw ѕресiаliѕtѕ to ѕurgiсаllу treat thе nеurоlоgiсаl conditions thrоugh ѕmаllеr openings or minimal invаѕiоn bу making uѕе оf microscopes, еndоѕсореѕ and ѕuсh оthеr mеthоdѕ. Oреn ѕurgеriеѕ аrе reserved fоr trаumаtiс cases аnd еmеrgеnсiеѕ.

Miсrоѕurgеrу – makes uѕе оf microscopic tесhnоlоgу ѕо thаt thе ѕurgеоnѕ саn trеаt affected аrеаѕ оf the brain thrоugh ѕmаllеr openings. Thе trеаtmеnt аrеа in thiѕ саѕе iѕ mаgnifiеd. Tоdау’ѕ аdvаnсеd equipment allows surgeons tо perform соmрlеx рrосеdurеѕ through thiѕ type оf ѕurgеrу. It iѕ overall lеѕѕ invasive аnd соnvеniеnt fоr thе surgeon too.

Endоѕсорiс neurosurgery – is widely uѕеd in thе treatment of рituitаrу tumоrѕ, cerebrospinal fluid lеаkаgе, hуdrосерhаluѕ, colloid суѕtѕ аnd mаnу оthеrѕ.

A numbеr of modern tесhniԛuеѕ, procedures аnd еԛuiрmеnt hаvе еmеrgеd, mаking neurology surgery mоrе аdvаnсеd аnd surgeons аrе better equipped tо рrоvidе раtiеntѕ with accurate саrе.

Final thoughts…

Neurosurgery is a demanding and interesting medical specialty. Remember that decision making (to operate or not) is more important than the actual operation. It is also important to learn how to work a team. Do not think you can do it all alone. Being a neurosurgeon has a lot of advantages and of course its disadvantages. Focus on the positive part of everything and you will realise that nothing is impossible. There is a lot of organizations offering scholarships out there. You have a wide range of internet resources for continuos reading on Neurosurgery. I hope you this will help, contact me if you need more information. Goodluck!!!

PREGNANCY AND EXERCISE: WHAT YOU SHOULD DO FOR 9 MONTHS

Cаn you exercise when уоu’rе pregnant?

Yеѕ, if уоu’vе no ѕеriоuѕ mеdiсаl problems аnd уоu’vе a healthy рrеgnаnсу. If уоu’vе аlrеаdу bееn еxеrсiѕing, соntinuе with it. If you hаvеn’t exercised bеfоrе, ѕtаrt ѕlоwlу.

But if уоu’vе high blооd рrеѕѕurе, multiрlе fеtuѕеѕ, increased сhаnсе оf premature lаbоur, pre-eclampsia оr heart diѕеаѕе, уоu ѕhоuld consult your dос firѕt. Hе/ѕhе mау advise уоu tо limit оr аvоid еxеrсiѕе or рhуѕiсаl асtivitу.

Whether уоu’rе an еxiѕting еxеrсiѕеr оr a beginner еxеrсiѕеr, you mау need tо slow dоwn your lеvеl оf exercise during рrеgnаnсу.

Hоw Tо Exеrсiѕе

Exercise at a lеvеl thаt dоеѕn’t саuѕе you pain, shortness оf brеаth оr еxсеѕѕivе tiredness. If уоu fееl unсоmfоrtаblе, ѕhоrt оf brеаth оr tirеd out, reduce уоur exercise level.
Thеn over timе, уоu could slowly increase your activity, if you feel соmfоrtаblе and can tаkе the еxtrа “load”.
If you’re аlrеаdу exercising, you may need to mоdifу your еxiѕting еxеrсiѕе program; if you hаvеn’t been еxеrсiѕing, choose a ѕuitаblе new еxеrсiѕе рrоgrаm.
Don’t еxеrсiѕе to thе роint оf brеаthlеѕѕnеѕѕ аѕ уоur grоwing bаbу needs oxygen tоо.
After the first 3 months оf рrеgnаnсу, it’s best tо аvоid еxеrсiѕing whilе lуing оn уоur bасk, аѕ thе wеight оf thе bаbу mау intеrfеrе with blood сirсulаtiоn.
Whеn the wеаthеr’ѕ hоt, еxеrсiѕе in thе еаrlу morning оr lаtе еvеning to аvоid gеtting оvеrhеаtеd.
If you exercise indoor, choose a rооm that has аmрlе vеntilаtiоn.
Drink plenty оf wаtеr, even if you dоn’t fееl thirsty.
And eat a well-balanced, nutritiоuѕ diеt. Nоrmаllу, рrеgnаnсу inсrеаѕеѕ уоur саlоriс intаkе bу 300 a day, even withоut еxеrсiѕе.

Tуреѕ of еxеrсiѕе bу trimеѕtеr

Mаnу рrеgnаnt ladies bеliеvе wrоnglу thаt they саn no longer еxеrсiѕе. The truth iѕ that сеrtаin fitnеѕѕ rоutinеѕ have bееn dеѕignеd еѕресiаllу fоr thе needs оf mоmѕ-tо-bе and thеir bоdiеѕ. Some еxеrсiѕеѕ improve circulation whilе оthеrѕ inсrеаѕе the capacity оf the lungs. Bоth brеаthing аnd сirсulаtiоn аrе еѕѕеntiаl to thе hеаlth оf mоm аnd unbоrn bаbу.

Exеrсiѕеѕ fоr pregnant ladies need to be lеѕѕ strenuous but сеrtаin routines have bееn developed for еасh trimester оf pregnancy. Lеаrning these exercises and wоrking out оn a rеgulаr bаѕiѕ саn turn intо the guаrаntее fоr a рrоblеm-frее аnd happy pregnancy.
Aссоrding tо dосtоrѕ, a pregnancy thаt is unсоmрliсаtеd dеmаndѕ рhуѕiсаl activity. It iѕ very imроrtаnt tо see how уоur body iѕ responding to еxеrсiѕеѕ and tо mоdifу anything thаt makes you fееl unсоmfоrtаblе.

Health / Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by Q12(m): 6:11pm On Jul 18, 2017
Newborn baby: What you need to check.

The newborn baby’s first cry always brings a smile to everyone around him. But, to see if this baby is really healthy, the doctor will perform a physical examination within 24 hours. After the immediate examination of the baby to indicate the Apgar score, a full body check-up is done.

Virginia Apgar (1909-1974) was an Anaesthesiologist that introduced the Apgar score in 1952 to quickly check the health of a newborn baby.

The Apgar test includes 5 factors:

1. Appearance
2. Pulse
3. Grimace response
4. Activity
5. Respiration.

It is usually given to a baby twice: once at 1 minute after birth, and again at 5 minutes after birth.

This examination starts with the measurement of body weight, length and head circumference of the baby. Then the doctor examines the newborn’s skin, head and neck, heart and lungs, abdomen and genitals and also the nervous system and reflexes in order to check all the body systems and organs. Moreover, to be clear with the presence of health issues that will not get detected in physical examination, the doctors might do routine screening tests as well.

Skin

The doctor will examine the skin colour of the newborn baby, which is maybe reddish, but the fingers and toes may have a bluish tinge due to the poor blood circulation during the first few hours. Yellow colour appearance of the skin within 24 hours requires further assessment.

Head and Neck

The head circumference is measured with a tape and the fontanelle and sutures are palpated. This Baby Infant Growth Chart Calculator is useful to check the development up to 2 years. The size of the fontanelle can be varying. While the saggital suture will be often separated, the coronal suture can be overriding.

Caput succedaneum which refers to the swelling, or edema, of a newborn’s, usually disappears on its own within several days. It appears as a lump or a bump on their head and is caused by the pressure from the dilated cervix or vaginal walls during the delivery.

Examination of the head, face (including palate) and neck of the newborn will reveal the presence of any birth defects or abnormalities that occurred during delivery. A normal delivery, in which the head delivers first, might cause slight reversible defects of the skull. But, this will disappear within 7-14 days. Also, some swelling and bruising are typical. These problems are common when the baby is delivered through the birth canal (vaginal delivery). Not only skull defects but defects of the face might also occur.

Heart and Lungs

Auscultation, heart rate, and skin color are checked to see if the newborn baby’s circulation and respiration are up to the norm. Any heart murmurs during auscultation require further investigations. The normal heart rate of a newborn baby is 110-160 beats/ min while this could be reduced up to 85 beats/ min during sleep.

The chest wall movements will be seen during respiration and respiratory rate in newborns are rapid than in adults. The rate is almost 30-60 breaths/ minute. Grunting, flaring nostrils and a poor cry can indicate problems in the respiratory and cardiovascular systems. During this phase of the check-up, any presences of basic birth defects of the heart and lungs are cleared out.

Abdomen and Genitals

The doctor will examine the abdomen and its size, shape, and position of internal organs, such as the kidneys, liver, and spleen. Enlarged kidneys may indicate a blockage to the outflow of urine while a distended stomach may indicate a problem with the bowels and other organs.

Examination of the genitals is necessary to identify the gender and also to see the urinary and genital organs are defect free. The doctor will check whether the urethra is open and is in the proper location. It is necessary to see of the testicles are descended in a boy.

It is normal to have swollen labia in a baby girl for first few weeks and also a blood discharge through the vagina is also possible and is not an anomaly.

Anus should be checked to make sure the opening is normally placed and not sealed shut.

Nerves, muscles, and bones

The newborn baby has certain reflexes and the doctor will check these reflexes of the baby to conclude his nervous system is healthy.
The limbs will be checked to see the muscular functions and so also the bones will be checked to see if the baby has bones broken during the delivery.
Also, it is important to check the hip bones to see if there are any developmental defects. This will be performed at the end as this procedure will make the baby uncomfortable.

A complete physical check-up reassures the health of your baby and is therefore necessary to perform in the first 24 hours after birth.

Health / Ramadan And Food: Important Healthy Tips You Should Master by Q12(m): 4:50pm On May 31, 2017
During the Holy month of Ramadan, healthy adult Muslims practice daily fasting from dawn until sunset. Traditionally, one breaks the fast at sunset with a meal called Iftar and then eats again pre-dawn at Suhoor.

There is evidence to suggest that fasting can have positive effects on your health. It may help you lose weight and decrease blood pressure and cholesterol. However, the Holy Month is often seen as a time to practice self-control, self-discipline, sacrifice and empathy for those less fortunate.

The month of Ramadan is a great opportunity to focus on bringing back a balanced and healthy lifestyle. Through fasting you learn how to manage your eating habits and improve self-discipline. If you’re overweight, it can be an opportunity to lose weight ,provided you eat healthily when you break the fast.

“You are unlikely to reach the starvation stage during Ramadan, because the fast is broken daily,” says Dr Razeen Mahroof, a consultant from Oxford. A balanced food and fluid intake is important between fasts. The kidneys are very efficient at maintaining the body’s water and salts, but these can be lost through sweating.

To prevent muscle breakdown, meals must contain enough energy food, such as carbohydrates and some fat.

Aim for a balanced diet

Those observing the fast should have at least two meals a day: the pre-dawn meal (Suhoor) and a meal at dusk (Iftar).

It should contain foods from all the major food groups:

a. Fruit and vegetables bread
b. Cereals and potatoes
c. Meat, fish or alternatives
d. Milk and dairy foods
e. Foods containing fat and sugar

Try to limit the amount of sugary foods you eat and instead include healthier sources of carbohydrate in your diet, such as wholegrains, potatoes, vegetables, fruits, legumes, and lower fat dairy products.

Foods high in fibre can help to keep your bowels healthy and add bulk to your meal, helping you to feel full. These include:

1. Fruits
2. Vegetables
3. Pulses
4. Starchy foods (especially wholegrain varieties)

It’s also worth avoiding caffeine-based drinks such as tea, coffee and cola. Caffeine is a diuretic and stimulates faster water loss through urination.

Foods to avoid

A. deep-fried foods – such as pakoras, samosas and fried dumplings
B. high-sugar and high-fat foods – including sweets such as gulab jamun, rasgulla and balushahi
C. high-fat cooked foods – such as parathas, oily curries and greasy pastries

Healthy cooking methods

- shallow frying – usually there’s little difference in taste
- grilling or baking is healthier and helps retain the taste and original flavour of the food, especially with chicken and fish

The month of Ramadan is a great opportunity to start some healthy new habits, and get rid of some bad ones, such as smoking.
Smoking is considered to void a fast because you take something into your body through your mouth. A principle of Ramadan is purification of the body and tobacco is the greatest contributor to death and disease in the developed world.

Health / MUST READ - You Will Never Take Postinor 2 And Contraceptives After Reading This by Q12(m): 1:32pm On May 31, 2017
Postinor 2 is a medication to prevent pregnancy if you shine the sperm into the ovary, whether intentional or not. It can prevent pregnancy 95% in the first 24 hours after intercourse, it is used as a form of emergency contraception (more commonly known as a morning after pill).

Postinor-2 is formulated to function in a manner similar to the female hormone progesterone allowing for prevention of pregnancy if taken within a reasonable period of time. Generally, it is recommended that Postinor-2 be taken no later than three days after having unprotected s* x.

EFFECTS OF POSTINOR 2
1 ,When taken in the middle of the menstrual cycle, the preparation may inhibit ovulation.

2, The pill can cause changes in the menstrual cycle in the lady. Your next period could start earlier or later than expected and flow can be lighter or heavier than normal.

3, It can cause nauseating feeling which occurs in approximately 25% of users vomiting

4 ,It can also bring about bleeding disturbances in some cases, 2-3 days following tablet ingestion

5 ,Sometimes it can cause breast tenderness, headache, dizziness, fatigue.

6 ,In the majority of cases the next period starts as expected or somewhat earlier, if the period is more than 7 days late it is recommended to perform a pregnancy test.

7. In case of prolonged or heavy bleeding, gynaecological examinations is advised.

8 ,If the user has a reported case of asthma, heart failure, hypertension, migraine, epilepsy, renal impairment, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidaemia, depression, and/or stroke, the preparation may be used exclusively in the above mentioned emergency cases. it is not appropriate for regular use.

It is estimated that Postinor-2 will prevent 85% of expected pregnancies. 95% of expected pregnancies will be prevented if taken within the first 24 hours.

So I employ every guy to always walk around with postinor2 because you never know when you will have a match because you don’t want to receive that “We need to Talk” text after 7 weeks.

Health / Women's Health Infographic: Ovulation by Q12(m): 4:54pm On Apr 27, 2017
6 Things to Know About Ovulation

90% of women don’t know that 2 days before through the day of ovulation is the best time to try to get pregnant.

25% of women don’t know a normal menstrual cycle can vary between 21 and 35 days; 28 days is the average.

The Science Behind Your Monthly Cycle
Ovulation—the process of an egg leaving the ovary and traveling into the fallopian tube—occurs at about day 14 of an average 28-day cycle. Here’s how it works:

1. When the body’s level of estrogen (a hormone) drops, the hypothalamus in the brain alerts its neighbor, the pituitary gland.

2. The pituitary gland sends out follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), which helps follicles in the ovary to mature. Each ovarian follicle contains an egg. Mature follicles and eggs make estrogen.

3.When the body’s estrogen level is restored, the pituitary gland sends out luteinizing hormone (LH) to open the mature follicle.

4. The follicle then releases its egg into the fallopian tube.

5. The empty follicle makes the hormone progesterone. Progesterone helps the uterus prepare for pregnancy by thickening its lining.

6. If no pregnancy occurs, the follicle stops make progesterone. The thickened lining and other tissues pass out of the uterus as a menstrual period.

Like blood pressure and heart rate, a woman’s menstrual cycle is a sign of her overall health. Menstrual irregularities — such as missing a period or having a heavier-than-usual period — could signal a health problem. To learn more, visit http://go.usa.gov/8a3H.

Health / Research: Semen Is 'good For Women's Health And Helps Fight Depression' by Q12(m): 6:32pm On Apr 07, 2017
MouthAction is good for women's health and makes you feel happier, according to a study which studied the effects of semen's 'mood-altering chemicals'.

The State University of New York study - which scientists carried out via survey rather than through practical experiment - compared the sex lives of 293 females to their mental health.

It follows research which shows that seminal fluid contains chemicals that elevate mood, increase affection, induce sleep and also contain at least three anti-depressants.

The researchers also claim that women who have regular unprotected sex are less depressed and perform better on cognitive tests.

Semen contains another of chemicals along with spermatozoa, including cortisol, which is known to increase affection, estrone, which elevates mood and oxytocin, which also elevates mood.

It also contains thyrotropin-releasing hormone (another antidepressant), melatonin (a sleep-inducing agent), and even serotonin (perhaps the best-known antidepressant neurotransmitter).

Given these ingredients - and this is just a small sample of the mind-altering 'drugs' found in human semen - Researchers Gallup and Burch, along with the psychologist Steven Platek, hypothesised that women having unprotected sex should be less depressed than suitable control participants.

To investigate whether semen has antidepressant effects, the authors rounded up 293 college females from the university's Albany campus, who agreed to fill out an anonymous questionnaire about various aspects of their sex lives.

Recent sexual activity without condoms was used as an indirect measure of seminal plasma circulating in the woman’s body.

Each participant also completed the Beck Depression Inventory, a commonly used clinical measure of depressive symptoms.

The most significant findings from this study, published in the Archives of Sexual Behaviour, were that, even after adjusting for frequency of sexual intercourse, women who engaged in sex and 'never' used condoms showed significantly fewer depressive symptoms than did those who 'usually' or 'always' used condoms.

Importantly, these chronically condom-less, sexually active women also evidenced fewer depressive symptoms than did those who abstained from sex altogether.

By contrast, sexually active heterosexual women, including self-described 'promiscuous' women, who used condoms were just as depressed as those practicing total abstinence.

The research suggests it is not just that women who are having sex are simply happier, but that happiness levels might be related to the quantity of semen within their body.

Health / What To Eat During Pregnancy For An Intelligent Baby by Q12(m): 10:30pm On Mar 13, 2017
A healthy, balanced diet during pregnancy that includes varied food groups is vital to boost your growing baby's grey matter. However, certain foods that really stand out as nutritional superstars include - eggs, dried fruits, flaxseeds, walnuts, beans, legumes, whole grains, lean red meat, leafy greens like kale, spinach, and oily fish like tuna and salmon.

A nutritious balanced diet plays an important part in keeping you healthy. But it’s especially important when you’re pregnant because your baby depends on you for nutrients vital for her growth and development. And your baby’s rapidly growing brain can be vulnerable to any nutrient deficiency, especially, between the twenty-fourth and forty-second week of gestation where rapid brain development takes place. So let’s take a look at how your diet can influence your baby’s intelligence.

A Healthy Balanced Diet For A Smart Baby

A healthy balanced diet during pregnancy is important for your baby’s mental and physical development. Generally, you need about 300 extra calories a day when you are pregnant. And you also need to make sure that you include a variety of food groups like grains and breads, fruits and vegetables, proteins, and dairy products in your diet.

Fruits and vegetable contain many important nutrients like vitamin C ( found in grapefruits, oranges, Brussels sprouts, and tomatoes) and folic acid (found in green leafy vegetables like spinach). Ideally, you should have around two to four servings of fruit and at least four servings of vegetables daily.

Breads and grains have carbohydrates which are usually the main source of energy for your body. They can also contain much-needed vitamins and fiber. You might need to consume between six to eleven servings of breads or grains daily.
Your growing baby needs a lot of protein, particularly during the third and second trimesters. Make sure you get at least three servings daily. Meat, eggs, and beans are good sources of protein.
Dairy products like milk and yogurt are great sources of calcium, which is essential for your developing baby. So take in at least four servings of dairy products every day.

Get Nutrients That Power Your Baby’s Brain

Some nutrients are particularly important for your baby’s developing brain. Let’s take a look at these:

1. Choline

According to research, dietary intake of choline by the expectant mother and by the infant can directly affect brain development. Animal studies have found that perinatal supplementation with choline improves learning functions and memory in rodents. And these benefits endure throughout their lives. Eggs are a really great source of choline; other sources include milk, wheat germ, cauliflower, chicken, and pork.

2. Iron

Iron is another nutrient that is important for your baby’s brain. One study which looked at 278 children found that poor iron status in the womb was associated with lower scores on full-scale intelligence quotient, fine and gross motor skills, language ability, and attention at five years of age.
Dried beans, dried fruits (for example, raisins, prunes, and apricots), lean red meat (for example, beef), and leafy vegetables like spinach and kale are good sources of iron. Also, foods that contain vitamin C (for example, tomatoes, strawberries, and potatoes) will help your body to absorb iron better, so make sure to include them in your diet too.

3. Omega 3 Fatty Acids

Omega-3 fatty acids are vital building blocks of your baby’s brain and retina. And that’s not all, they may have a role in preventing perinatal depression too. Now your body doesn’t make these essential fatty acids so you need to get them through your diet. Oily fish like tuna and salmon are really good sources of omega-3s. But do keep in mind that sometimes fish can contain toxic substances like mercury which can be harmful to your baby. In fact, it’s best to avoid tilefish, king mackerel, shark, and swordfish as they’re are known to have high levels of mercury. You can also incorporate omega-3s into your diet by having chia seeds, walnuts, soybeans, tofu, ground flaxseeds, flaxseed oil, and canola oil.9

4. Protein

Not getting sufficient protein can also affect the neurological development of your baby’s brain adversely and may even lead to learning disabilities. So make sure you don’t skimp on protein during your pregnancy. You can get protein from poultry, low-fat dairy, and meat. Legumes, beans, soy, seeds and nuts (for example, almonds, peanuts, and hazelnuts), and grains like quinoa also contain protein.

5. Zinc

Researchers studying the effects of zinc on brain development have found some indications that a lack of it could have adverse effects on your baby’s brain function. Beef, lamb, pork, nuts, legumes, and whole grains are good sources of zinc.
While it’s important to include foods that contain these nutrients as part of a healthy balanced diet, it’s not a good idea to take supplements without a doctor’s say. An excess of nutrients like iron can backfire and lead to abnormal brain development.

It turns out that having a little “junk in the trunk” is a good thing, health wise. Not only does having a larger derriere boost overall health, but it’s tied to increased intelligence and lower risk of chronic disease, according to researchers at the University of Oxford and Churchill Hospital in the United Kingdom.

Fat distribution is important, say researchers, and if you’re going to have some, it’s best to have it below the waist, as it helps to serve as a barrier against heart disease, diabetes and other conditions linked to obesity.

It is the protective role of lower body, that is [thigh and backside] fat, that is striking. The protective properties of the lower-body fat depot have been confirmed in many studies conducted in subjects with a wide range of age, BMI and co-morbidities,” scientists wrote in the Journal of Obesity.Women with larger behinds are healthier and more intelligent, study finds

Apple-shaped vs. pear-shaped

Comparing your body shape to that of a fruit can help you identify whether or not you’re on the right track. If you’re pear-shaped, you’re probably in a good place, researchers say. If you’re apple-shaped, you may want to embark on a healthier lifestyle.

Individuals with belly fat have more obesity-related problems than those who carry extra weight on their hips, thighs and butt.

“There’s a lot of evidence that shows that the fat depots are not the same in the body,” said Dr. Robert Kushner, a professor of medicine specializing in obesity at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

Belly fat “is more metabolically active,” explains Kushner, meaning it has a greater effect on the brain and overall body, compared to fat stored in the lower half, which tends to be more stable and invokes fewer cytokines or proteins associated with insulin resistance and the onset of diabetes.

“There’s a whole range of these hormonal markers that seem to be more preferentially released from the belly,” he adds.

Regulating weight gain in the brain

Another factor tied to fat distribution in women is leptin. Leptin levels, crucial for regulating appetite, are correlated with a bigger derriere, too. In individuals who are obese, their brain stops responding to the hormone entirely, causing the person to develop leptin resistance, which is similar to insulin resistance, reports Elite Daily.

Having a big butt also favors leptin levels in the female body, which is a hormone responsible for regulating the weight, and the dinopectina, a hormone with anti-inflammatory, vascular-protective and anti-diabetic attributes. The adipose tissue of the buttocks traps harmful fatty particles and prevents cardiovascular disease.

Big butt equals big brains

Maintaining a larger behind requires significant amounts of Omega 3 fats, which are proven to boost brain function, memory and cognitive abilities. Research also shows that children born to women with wide hips are more intelligent compared to those conceived by thinner and less curvy mothers.

Health / Understanding Religion/belief And Medicine by Q12(m): 9:07pm On Dec 18, 2016
Health is no longer defined as the well being of only the human body and mind. With the development of the fields of alternative medicine and scientific research, health specialists found that the human health is influenced by many other things including their own believes and spirituality. Of course, science contradicts and conflicts with religion and beliefs most of the time. But, we should not forget that spirituality, being a part of human health, should be given an important place when handling a sick person or helping one.

In many societies there is discrepancy between the role of religion and medicine in the treatment of diseases. Religious leaders should recognise the importance of modern medicine in the development of the society. When the cost of medical attention is high or inaccessible, humans resolve to alternatives which includes religious institutions or traditional medicine.
If you characterize a person, you will notice that a person’s thoughts, actions and sometimes even some reflexes are influenced by his beliefs, background, and religion. Also, it is well noticed that a healthy person has a healthy spiritual life most of the time. It does not matter how much these things oppose the theories and laws of science because at the end of the day people believe that there are powers that are beyond any science the human kind knows.

According to scientists and religious leaders, a hecross-587267_640althy spiritual life and any kind of a religion teach people to handle stress, to cope with life’s worst situations, how to be happy and sometimes even they
teach how to eat and drink in a healthy way. The lifestyles people live are also based on the religions they follow. Therefore, it is sometimes essential to heal the spiritual life when healing a disease.

Modern medicine gives a better place to patients’ beliefs and thoughts. That is why the doctors in the clinical setting are now trained in a way that they can understand and connect with any patient regardless of their origin, nativity and religion. A well-trained doctor will always have time to listen and also will offer time to the patient to hint about his spiritual life. This is necessary because at times a small mentioning of the religion of a patient can provide the doctor with a whole lot of information about this patient’s habits, lifestyle and daily activities. Moreover, a smart physician will also use these habits to correct the unhealthy lifestyles of these patients.

As science is not only based on theory but also on its practical use. The contradictory religious beliefs can be used in a healthy scientific way for the betterment of the humans and to improve the overall health of people in this world.

Health / Amazing Benefits Of Palm Oil by Q12(m): 12:10am On Dec 13, 2016
Palm oil is a vegetable oil with a lot of health benefits. This oil is extracted from different types of oil palms. Among them, African (Elaeis guineensis) and American oil palm (Elaeis oleifera) are the most commonly used. It is the most edible oil in the world just after soybean oil.

Due to the high content of beta-carotene, this oil is stained with a beautiful reddish-orange color. Along with beta-carotene, it also contains saturated, unsaturated fats and vitamin D and E. Therefore, Palm oil bares strong antioxidant effects.

This amazing vegetable oil improves body’s energy levels by creating a hormonal balance in the body. Furthermore, the scientists believe that palm oil can act to prevent cancers in the body. Due to its high antioxidant properties, this oil can be called as an anti-aging food, which prevents premature aging.

With its high nutritional content, it also boosts the human immune system, so that the people who eat palm oil may stay away from infections.
Beta-carotene is a vitamin A precursor and as we all know vitamin A is the main nutrient that maintains a good vision in humans. Hence, it is very clear that palm oil can improve and maintain a healthy vision in people.

Vitamin D and E are responsible for body’s sexual hormonal balance. Palm oil can be helpful in menstrual irregularities in women and the sperm health in men. In pregnant women, it can prevent vitamin deficiencies, which can be very dangerous for the pregnant woman as well as the growing baby.

Even though it is found that palm oil contain LDL (Low-Density Lipoproteins) as well as HDL (High-density Lipoproteins) and this fact has made huge controversies if palm oil is healthy to consume or not, the researchers believe that it also helps to maintain the correct lipid balance of LDL and HDL in the body. Thus, it contributes to a good cardiovascular health too.

The vegetable does not only affect your health internally, but it is also a good oil to be applied on the skin and hair to protect the moisture and to heal dryness. This is why this oil is so famous in African countries and also in Asia.

In the manufacturing industry it is an active ingredient of cosmetics, soaps, toothpaste, ink, waxes and lubricants.

Health / Re: Help, I Want To Stop Drinking And Smoking Of Cigarettes by Q12(m): 4:04pm On Dec 01, 2016
I find it quite appalling that many Nigerians talk of just God when you are in problems like this. Sometimes they forget that faith in God without work is dead.

I am happy that many people have given you better advice. However you have to recognise that smoking is very addictive and difficult (not impossible) to quit. Even years after quitting, some exsmokers admit to nicotine craving.
I will share some of the tips we have used to help people:

1. DECISION: Just stop smoking. Tell yourself that each time you wake up in the morning. If you desire anything you will get it.
2. PLAN: summarize what ted1741 said in a piece of paper. This one works very well: visit a hospital and talk to people that have lung cancer. This will associate pain to your habit of smoking.
3. DISCIPLINE: you need to build a new habit to substitute the old one. Find a community of non-smokers including church. Your environment greatly influences you.
4. REPETITION: repeat #1-#3 everyday. It takes around >2months to form a new habit. I hope it doesn’t take you 1year.

Remember, people have done this before and will continue to do it. You can use same principles to get anything you want in life. It is not rocket science.
Health / Politicians And The Chapter II Of The Nigeria Constitution by Q12(m): 12:18pm On Nov 18, 2016
Adams Oshiomhole, outgone governor of Edo State has been tagged by many as one of the most popular politicians of the country. One of his best practices that most leaders lack is the sense of humility. He commissioned many projects especially Edo Central Hospital. Many people even the president lauded this infrastructure (photo).

In a country bedridden by many kleptocrats, a project like this draws important state recognition. There are numerous related articles in Nigeria; in July 2014, a former governor of Delta state, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan commissioned a swimming pool in Warri City stadium. State celebration is unnecessary if government builds a hospital because it is their right and it is in our constitution.

Look at these excerpts of Chapter II of the Nigerian constitution:

Section 17.3: The State shall direct its policy towards ensuring that -

(a) all citizens, without discrimination on any group whatsoever, have the opportunity for securing adequate means of livelihood as well as adequate opportunity to secure suitable employment

(b) conditions of work are just and humane, and that there are adequate facilities for leisure and for social, religious and cultural life;

(c) the health, safety and welfare of all persons in employment are safeguarded and not endangered or abused;

(d) there are adequate medical and health facilities for all persons.

See the rest of our Constitution below. It is imperative that the body of fundamental principles of a sovereign society is obeyed with discipline.

Health / What About MALNUTRITION? (infographic) by Q12(m): 2:56pm On Nov 16, 2016
The Federal Government of Nigeria launched the Home-Grown School Feeding and Health Programme in
September 2005 under the coordination of the Federal Ministry of Education. The programme aimed to
provide a nutritionally-adequate meal during the school day. In addition, Nigeria has recently embarked on
management of severe acute malnutrition (SAM) and currently has over 495 community management of
acute malnutrition (CMAM) sites across northern Nigeria.
