Programming › Re: Why Is It So Difficult To Get Help In The Tech World? by qtguru(m): 11:04am On May 13, 2025 |
airsaylongcome: This is the problem right here. You have to be specific and intentional. "One skill" doesn't sound like someone that knows what they want. And believe me, NO experienced person is going to be the one show you which one to study, unless they are really close to you.
Many people that experienced people are "stingy". But there aren't. They are overwhelmed with juggling many things they barely have time. You need to do the research in what piques your interest. And start putting effort into learning them. My father(+) had a saying, the teacher will arrive only when the student is ready, not one minute before. And understand that the teacher is just a guide, their job is to open the door. The student MUST be the one to walk through that door. By themselves.
I know this isn't what you want to hear, and are probably looking for a "mentor" that will hand hold you. Those don't exist. I tried to "mentor" a less experienced colleague and lost a job in the process. NEVER AGAIN. Who wan learn, go get materials and directions from me, but I am not ever again spending one-on-one time with someone. Unless that person has put in the work.
There's an Iranian website that provides "free" materials for almost any stuff you wanna learn. I can't mention their name because the spambot has spiritual assignment and is following me upandan on the forum. But if you snoop around a bit you will be able to figure them out. Begin there to start self-learning. Good luck in all your pursuits and endeavour. I don't even believe in mentorship, only advices tell me what to learn, I've stopped mentoring people because alot of people are not serious, maybe it's our education system that spoon feeds us, You will see someone asking me which Youtube resources should they use, and I'm like at least start searching and using AI. I use AI 100% to even determine what skills to learn and for it to provide a guideline, people need to be self efficient, nuff said. |

tosinhtml: But the tech ecosystem in Nigeria is much friendlier. Newbies with good portfolios can easily get jobs, unlike outside Nigeria, where you compete with a supposedly high number of seniors posing as juniors because they have no jobs. Tech jobs are even at their lowest in the US now, anyone traveling to the US now for a tech job should just forget about it. Yes but let's see depends on the pay , but you're right about seniors posing as juniors , but the pay doesn't usually help as much. |

Karleb: Bros, this is not true.
There are still tech jobs in Nigeria. We can argue that the salary and work conditions are not the best but at least, tech still has more jobs than other sectors in Nigeria. Nigeria ke, haven't worked for Nigerian tech in 7 years or so, no one is striving to earn naira as a techie. |

Bade007: To get tech job hard especially if you day naija Even if you are outside, it's hard too, tech isn't recruiting for coders like that, the few senior engineers with AI can reduce the need for alot of engineers, the alternative route is building a solution and servicing clients. the future just got dark quickly lol |

tensazangetsu20: Your projects would have been amazing if you started to learn to code in 2016. Unfortunately with AI, the bar for juniors is insanely high. These sort of projects won’t even pass through recruiters screening. You have so much work to do. Your hospital management system is a url shortener Yeah I agree with this, your portfolio quality doesn't highlight your experience, it shows alot of newbie vibes, the freelance and tech market is highly competitive at this period. Also you are not limited to just coding, you could do other things. |

tensazangetsu20: To be honest, I used to be angry at female Hypergamy especially as a young man but with time I don’t really blame women anymore. One of my neighbors wife in Nigeria passed on recently and this woman was a very good woman. She lived in very pitiful conditions all her life till she died. This was a woman that came from a middle class family at least by Nigerian standards in the 70s and 80s but married a poor man for love. The man never made it unfortunately and they were always suffering. Her siblings resented her for marrying the husband and ultimately resented the husband. It wasn’t even up to 4 months after this woman died that her husband started posting another woman’s picture on his WhatsApp status. The same man also has refused taking up responsibility for his children. Doesn’t give them food or money so they have resorted to stealing and becoming a nuisance. Honestly, I don’t blame women for being hypergamous. Everyone should do what’s best for them. There’s no reward for who suffer pass and most times suffering doesn’t mean that God is preparing you for anything. You can suffer for a long time till death and absolutely nothing will happen. Same who wants to suffer, I've seen people suffer in the name of love, I don't blame anyone acting on Hypergamy, I think men too should learn from this, our own version is more of papers. But yeah it is what it is. |

The issue is low self esteem, because the logical path is to break up and focus on his life, but he obviously believes he can't do better. What's the point of keeping a liability ? |

9wkgb: Nice input and thanks for the clarification.
@BenNash, Same undergraduate study in the UK is extremely expensive as you will be needing to pay IHS fees for the entire duration of your studies (i.e. over 1300 pounds X3) and that is excluding initial deposit, flight ticket, accommodation and other miscellaneous costs. What of getting a job to fund the remaining years? - you will cry blood.
Note: this is not to scare you but only get you prepared mentally and financially. If you have the means, by all means carry on please.
Otherwise, as OP as said, finishing a degree here won't be bad. You'll be playing the long game - there's the open University and/or other part time classes to engage in. Also keep getting your money as Nigeria will most definitely have deteriorated much further by the time you're done.
And finally, congratulations Tensa and may the earth continue to favor you. You are a big inspiration and I always look forward to your wins. Special shout out to qtguru also - I can't wait for him to be all he can be and strive in his full glory.
And lest I forget, e sure me die sey the w.erey Hungarian and OS politician are weeping bitterly as their life don finally spoil Las Las. My the Lord continue to give you the might and will to keep germinating this violence on a steady and by all means continue to press their necks, so they can quickly ha.ng themselves if they're so bitter about their lives. Mehn God bless you so much for that message, really appreciate |
