Obavoh: I came back from work yesterday to see my Wife’s younger Sister in my house.
I was surprised because no one told me she was coming. I greeted and welcomed her.
I later called my Wife aside and asked her why she did not inform me that her sister was coming to pay us a visit. That was when she broke the news to me that the girl was 3 months pregnant and had to leave the village because of shame.
My Wife begged me and even called the girl to come and kneel and beg me to allow her stay until she puts to bed. I was very angry at my wife for that.
I would love to help the girl but the problem is
1) My Father-in-law is not aware that his Daughter is pregnant. Only my Wife and Mother-in-law knows.
2) My Mother-in-law has not called to plead with me to let the Girl stay under my roof. My Wife asked me to call their mother to confirm but I think it should be the other way around.
3) I am currently managing a one room apartment with my Wife and 7 children. The place might not be conducive for a first time pregnant Girl. Feeding her is not a problem.
4) I am afraid I would be the one to pay her Medical bills, antenatal and all. When I asked my Wife she said her mother would pay but I don’t believe this judging from personal experience.
5) What if the girl suffers miscarriage or complications? God forbid. I might be held responsible.
Please advise me on what to do. My creator sees my heart that I would love to help but I am afraid. Should I let her stay or send her away? How do I do this without losing the respect of my Wife and Mother-in-law. What is the best way to help the Girl? omo that number 3). above scares me? how can you manage? 7 children? wetin una chop wen una just de produce like that with out enough space? On the matter, guy, what do you want us to tell you that youb want to increase the 9 to 10+the little baby coming to 11? look you cant handle this situation. At best, advise your wife to ensure your father in law is aware and that you will speak to him as a man to manage the situation and there wont be any trouble. Tell the man to take charge. In a family anything can go wrong and he must manage the situation as the father of the family. |

Food › Re: Where Did Garri Originate From? by qtx(m): 4:30pm On Jun 13, 2025 |
Mariangeles: Recently, my sister asked me what language is eba? I thought about the question for some seconds and answered I think it's Yoruba language. Then, she asked again what then is the Igbo name for eba? I paused, gave it some thoughts, then answered utara. (You'd relate if you grew up in the southwest) Then it occurred to me that in most part of Igbo land, garri is not that common. In Igbo land, it is more common to hear utara akpu for pounded cassava meal, utara ji for pounded yam meal, and utara ede for pounded cocoyam meal, but there's almost no such term as utara garri .
So, it got me wondering....
Where did garri originate from? What region created it first? Who knows the history of this wonderful staple that has been saving the lives of Nigerians since time immemorial? Who can trace its history? I know of garri Ijebu I also know that the people of Delta and Edo states are known for garri production.
In my hometown, garri frying is not common. My people prefer to turn their cassava to akpu. I also know the people of Enugu reserve most part of their cassava produce for abacha
So guys, let's connect this link... Is garri a staple in your hometown? My village gang ganggggg that is where garri was first invented. And we no de play with am o |

The Chief of Defense Staff have not been summoned to the statehouse, sacked and arrested to show action.

Travel › Re: Please Help! . I Have A Serious Phobia For Traveling. (Graphic Photos) by qtx(m): 9:43am On Jun 03, 2025 |
Exgee: Hi guys, I don't know what's wrong with me. Growing up, my best moment was whenever I was traveling(By road). I used to enjoy this.
But since I clocked 25, I no longer find it pleasurable traveling, I'm always scared of traveling. I fear that I may be involved in an accident that could maim or kill me. I have not been able to share this with anyone cos I don't know how to. Some years ago, my friend and I had a terrible ghastly accident that almost costed us our dear lives. We were returning back from the village in the early(6am) hours of the morning and before we would exit the village, the brakes of our vehicle(Lexus 350) failed and the speed of the car tripled. I saw death, I came in direct contact with death, but God saved me. My friend who was driving was quickly rushed to the hospital where he spent a week but I was lucky to not be much affected. I only had a cut on my lips and head. The vehicle somersaulted countless times. Farmers who were on their way to the farm that morning and heard the sound of the car somersaulting refused coming to help us. They said they didn't want to see Dead bodies at that early time of the morning, they didn't know we survived.
Sometimes again, I had another accident. I was about running mad when I eventually managed to pull out of the car, I had use my head to hit everywhere. These two accidents involving two different cars were all sold as scraps cos the damage were irreparable. And if they were to be fixed, the money would be more than imagine.
Again, my father died from a motorbike (Vespa) accident many years ago while I was just 7years. He didn't die on the spot, he even brought himself back home that night unaided. No external injuries but he had internal bleeding which wasn't detected in time, at 4am, mum took him to the hospital as pains in his chest became intense and at 7am, he gave up the ghost. The psychological impact of all these still affect me, I guess.
How do I overcome this please? Its so bad that whenever a loved one is traveling, I will be saying in my mind that the person might die on the road and that we may never see again. God pls help me!
God has saved me countless times and if I begin to write here, we may not go to bed tonight. To God alone be all the Glory! Get born again. That fear will vanish, and nothing will happen to you. The devil is the owner of fear. God wipes it out, and you will travel anytime you feel like, without a single thought of fear. |

[quote author=Nna2025 post=135562387]Hello Nairalanders, I know we are very sensitive to cheating so I ask for forgiveness.
I had a fling with a girl I have known for sometime now, I used CD but at some point, I used my finger. I started reading about Hiv and the possiblity of contracting it through fingering. Although my readings says % is very low provided there is no fresh injury, however I opted for PEP to calm my nerves. ( Pep is a drug used, when you suspect an exposure to HIV, remember you have 36hours to take it or else it won't work)
I tore off the pack, hid it in something and kept it in my bag. My wife for whatever reason searched my bag, saw it googled it and came back shouting and screaming since last night. My only comment to her is let's go for hiv test And that the drug was for my asthma, I know she wants to take it somewhere for verification.
My only fear now is if I disclose the reason for taking PEP, then my marriage is in danger.
Anything I can do to salvage this situation, I do not have time. Please, my people./quote]
Calm down. What you did was very wrong—committing adultery. However, just be calm . Make sure you are not positive, finish the PEP, and go for screening after 14 days. Tell your wife to take it easy. Una think divorce is easy? e no easy o. But stay away from cheating going forward. U didnt even tell us if u na don get children bc that is where divorce is always a catasrophe |

nairalanda1: We end up using English because we don't have an alternative like the Tanzanians (60 different languages, no majority tribe ) do with Swahilli(a patois developed for coastal Africans and Arab traders to communicate with each other, that somehow evolved into a standalone language)
Till we get one, English it is. Anyway, technology is making language management and preservation easier by the day. Google translate offers services in Hausa, Ibo and yoruba and even a few other nigerian languages. We must not have a common language before we know who we are. It's a sla.ve mentality. We are unique, and our quality is not dependent on how well we speak a strange foreign language my brother. |
