...there is no problem about dat...I av just read d news via d link...it is Dr. Fagge dat called it a rumour bcoz he is not aware of Mr. Pr's speech n doesn't expect him to call dem for a meeting on Monday...dat is his own opinion, he is only scared, just trying to b a man of his word/world(ASUU)...all I knw is Mr. Pr is taking a decisn nxt wk...In fact, his speech is now on Punch online news...

Habidab: 1.UI just entered the Second(2nd) part of the Semester when the strike began,and are yet to start receiving lecture,but won't it be that New admitted student will have to wait until they are through with their 2nd Semester.My suggestion is that New Admitted candidate will have to wait till Febuary next year before they start receiving lecture...

For statement no. 1...we all can estimate d resumptn...if schls r back to nomalcy diz month, we shld resume by Feb/Mar...a semester runs for 3-4 mths
For statement no. 2...hmmm...sorry to say...ASUU no go wan try am make dem no return...in Mr. President's speech, he said he wil shift to his plan B if his monday meeting with d ASUU chairman does nt bring an agreement...I bliv he may decide to take some risky steps, if he can relieve Prof. Ruqquayat Rufai of her duty, who is Dr. Nassir Fagge... omodave: NON Teaching staff in tertiary institutions in Nigeria, have advised the Federal Government to ignore the Memorandum of Understanding it entered into with the striking lecturers on the aegis of Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, saying its implementation would lead to another round of crisis.

The Non Teaching Staff comprising Non-Academic Staff Union of Education and Associated Institutions, NASU, National Association of Academic Technologists, NAAT, and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities,SSANU rather advised government to implement the 2009 agreements it entered with the unions in tertiary institutions.

In a statement signed by Samson Ugwoke, President of SSANU and spokesperson of NAAT, SSANU and NASU tited, ‘Our stand on the on-going ASUU strike’, the unions sympathised with ASUU but noted that the MoU was not in the best interest of the education sector.

It stated “We sympathise and solidarise with our sister union, ASUU over their long drawn struggle for the welfare of their members. We urged the government to build more confidence in governance, at all times, by respecting agreements it freely enters into with unions.

”However, we caution that any settlement of the current dispute must take into account the interests of all the university-based unions (NAAT, SSANU, NASU and ASUU). The three Non-Teaching Staff Unions of NAAT, SSANU and NASU are opposed to any extraneous demands by either ASUU or any group in the university which are prejudicial to the welfare of our members.

”Our stand is that government should jettison the so called ASUU’s Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and concentrate on full implementation of the 2009 FGN/Unions agreements which border on staff conditions of service and welfare, and increased funding to universities.

”The MOU being referred to by ASUU is for their selfish end and it is bound to generate more crises in the university sub-sector.

The Non-Teaching Staff Unions in the universities will stoutly resist any attemp t to ‘sell’ the universities to ASUU.

”All university based unions signed agreements in 2009 with the government, it is therefore advised that all contentious issues in all the agreements be settled holistically to avoid a ‘relay race’ in strike actions in the universities.

”The implementation of any union’s MOU should not come in between the period of implementation of signed agreements rather, such items in the MOU should wait to be re-negotiated in another agreement(s).”

This is the best ASUU Update in a long time! The latest
report reaching us is that the Federal Government has
assured the Nigerian Students that Admission will resume
next week! That is, we have just less than 4 days to go
before we say goodbye to ASUU Strike. But the question
still remains; we ASUU agreed to call off this strike? Read
the official report below.
Breaking News: Nigeria Universities To Open Next Week,
With Or Without ASUU- F.G
President Goodluck Jonathan will on Monday, November 4,
meet with the leadership of ASUU at the Presidential Villa.
An official of the Vice President’s office who pleaded
anonymity told Scan News that all hands are now on deck to
ensure that the Universities resume next week.
The President will at next Monday’s meeting present to the
ASUU leadership the administration’s last concession for
them to call off the prolonged strike.
A source at the Presidential Villa noted that if ASUU fails to
call off, the Federal Government will then resort to plan B,
which will be to compulsorily open the Universities, using
the instrumentality of the governing councils and the school
managements.
Already, most of the governing councils of the Universities
have started meeting to work out modalities for the
compulsory re-opening of the Universities should ASUU fail
to honour the personal request of President Jonathan.
It was gathered that security report available to the
Presidency may have necessitated this line of action to
salvage the Universities system from the direction it is
facing at present.
So, if the Academic Union of Universities fails to call-off this
strike next week, the Federal Government will resort to
Plan B! Now i love the sound of “plan B” am still not sure
who runs the Nigeria Institutions, the F.G or ASUU? SO all
students should get ready to return to School next week.

Firstly....may I extol ur hardwork that led to a good result, with this u are qualified to apply to any University in Nigeria, and to make a judicious plan with this good result, u need to get valuable information...sincerely, applying to UI with two sittings is like putting ur eggs in one basket, pls, forget the fact dat d result is sound, remember there are lot of good results as yours too, if any1 say that 2sittings can b accepted in UI for ur course, forget it, it is never feasible...bcoz pple r coming with competitive result with every damn things been intact, where do u now thnk d position of ur result wil b...? So, can I just tip in diz *dnt u mind taking another O'level quickly during ur IT...remember, u shld go any length for ur success/life*...and if u dnt wanna do dat...y dnt u try other good schls like Lautech, FUTA...where two sittings mayb overlooked...., dnt waste a yr pls...!!!

UI don't released admisn list on hectic week days...instead Friday and or Saturday...but all I knw is...the admisn list is diz month of October... Jambite change of course form ends today...

...missy...never av dat bliv n feelings...delightfully, the Non-Academic Staffs has taken it upon themselves to conduct the admission protocol...and under normal circumstances UI should av conducted exams n released all admisn list but due to d industrial strike action, regular process was impeded...and for some yrs back, UI has bn realising admisn list in October for jambites n D.E. cand... ceteris peribus...so, pls, reverse dat thought n let's wait faithfully for the list...thanks!
