i respect ur opinion, but why i raised up dat point was because of peeps like me. I remember struggling in Chemistry classes back in Sech. school (even till now) because I had a 'lecturer for a teacher'. The dude made it look so complex dat i almost became a tout, he comes through the front door, i leave through the back door grin

what am i saying, some peeps get scared and intimidated once the first thing they see is a string of complex scientifical terms or theories...some actually signed up to learn, buh they'd be like "these things are above my level" (Johny's 96% youths come to mind grin)
some actually have the idea of things discussed, but because they cant quote like wikipedia or write like Newton (especially when they see others dissecting questions seamlessly) they just loose motivation to keep up. hence the numerous ghost readers.

I liked the first article u wrote here that braine atom photons ish...i love the concept, the way u played with it but still not compromising the real facts..it attracted people and they wanted to know more, now dats what am talking about....

well its just my opinion sha...but understand dat not everyone must have an high IQ wink e.g, after kowalski's numerous attempt at a project, Private suggested he add sugar (cuz the mixture wasnt sweet...lol) but he was right as kowalski shouted EUREKA, he then explained the action of glucose on the something he was doing he den called Private a genius, dat made the little guy chuckle... (from penguins of madagascar. . .yeah i watch cartoons alot tongue)
lets draw people closer, lets make them feel comfortable...i will tag some of my fellow uniben aspirants here so they can discover this thread too . smiley

This forum is just too interesting. Science in practical applications in day to day activities and possible future use as discussed here is good.

I use to like Thomas Edison, but I dropped him when I learnt about his beef with that mad scientist, Nikolas Tesla.

I learnt it originated when Edison failed to keep his promise to his then consultant, Tesla.

*Tesla was offered the task of completely redesigning the Edison Company's direct current generators. In 1885, he said that he could redesign Edison's inefficient motor and generators, making an improvement in both service and economy. According to Tesla, Edison remarked,

"There's fifty thousand dollars in it for you—if you can do it."

This has been noted as an odd statement from an Edison whose company was stingy with pay and who did not have that sort of cash on hand.  After months of work, Tesla fulfilled the task and inquired about payment. Edison, saying that he was only joking, replied, "Tesla, you don't understand our American humor." Instead, Edison offered a US$10 a week raise over Tesla's US$18 per week salary; Tesla refused the offer and immediately resigned. (Wikipedia) *

Edison was reported to have publicly electrocuted animals with AC power source in bid to discourage the public against the use of AC, to favour his own DC power source. ‎

I think we know who  won the 'current war' at the end of the day.

I think,  *Edison was one level of science. Tesla was many levels higher. His wireless electricity wins it big time for me.
yeah Edison was more of a business man, though some people believe they were enemies, many others think they were more of friends than enemies, I am one of such smiley .

At the time that power grids which lined major cities were first built, there was no convenient way to change the voltage of DC power, whereas using a transformer made that relatively easy for AC power. That is why AC power won the “war of the currents”

The only significant advantage AC has over DC is that it can be step up or down easily and efficiently

DC has It's own advantage too smiley

» Every current that oscillate, radiate some amount of energy, this is prevented using DC
» There are no losses due to skin effect
and there are many more bro....

HVDC (high voltage DC) has evolved a lot, and is now the best way to transmit large amounts of power great distances.
There are many Countries in world switch from AC to DC ;the West, Chinese etc..

ain't beefing tesla, he is one of my favourite smiley

HVDC has come to stay!!

umm, well, I don't think it is bad to "want" a certain career for one's child. It's only normal. However, it is extremely unnecessary to "force" your will on the child. He/she has their own life to live.
But that's by the way. I think the problem with Nigeria is multifaceted. And it begins with the individuals. Nigerians tend to praise themselves for whatever little achievement they acquire. There is no healthy jealousy. And average African is more likely to plot to bring down a successful colleague than plot to surpass him. It is basically a crabs-in-bucket situation.
And then there is the "proud African" problem. Honestly, we have nothing to be proud of. Because proud means satisfaction. Or happiness, not wanting something to change because you are already okay with how it already is. This is not right. We should actually be "ashamed Africans"
Perhaps this would push us to do more.
Yet another problem is how we veiw technology. We view it as something so complex . . . so magical and out of this world . . . hence, it does not even occur to us that we can make our own version, or that our kids can tinker with it. If only we could look for old . . . old tech and teach our kids how to combine and recombine them to form new tech junk, that would be cool. For instance, removing the rotor from an old rewinder, the gears from an old CD player, and the shafts of old screwdrivers, and using an old sardine tin, make a motorized toy car! This is a cool project for primary school students. Or middle school. Having this culture, can encourage them to become innovators in the future! But no. We would rather sell our junk to mallams. angry
Sad, sad, sad. angry
Well, no hope is lost. There is always room for improvement. smiley

[center] [color=#000000] [b] 1. Are you absolutely sure there is no
God? If not, then is it not possible that
there is a God? And if it is possible that
God exists, then can you think of any
reason that would keep you from wanting
to look at the evidence?
2. Would you agree that intelligently
designed things call for an intelligent
designer of them? If so, then would you
agree that evidence for intelligent design
in the universe would be evidence for a
designer of the universe?
3. Would you agree that nothing cannot
produce something? If so, then if the
universe did not exist but then came to
exist, wouldn’t this be evidence of a
cause beyond the universe?
4. Would you agree with me that just
because we cannot see something with
our eyes—such as our mind, gravity,
magnetism, the wind—that does not mean
it doesn’t exist?
5. Would you also agree that just because
we cannot see God with our eyes does
not necessarily mean He doesn’t exist?
6. In the light of the big bang evidence for
the origin of the universe, is it more
reasonable to believe that no one created
something out of nothing or someone
created something out of nothing?
7. Would you agree that something
presently exists? If something presently
exists, and something cannot come from
nothing, then would you also agree that
something must have always existed?
8. If it takes an intelligent being to
produce an encyclopedia, then would it
not also take an intelligent being to
produce the equivalent of 1000 sets of an
encyclopedia full of information in the first
one-celled animal? (Even atheists such
as Richard Dawkins acknowledges that
“amoebas have as much information in
their DNA as 1000 Encyclopaedia
Britannicas.” Richard Dawkins, The Blind
Watchmaker (New York: WW. Norton and
Co., 1996), 116.)
9. If an effect cannot be greater than its
cause (since you can’t give what you do
not have to give), then does it not make
more sense that mind produced matter
than that matter produced mind, as
atheists say?
10. Is there anything wrong anywhere? If
so, how can we know unless there is a
moral law?
11. If every law needs a lawgiver, does it
not make sense to say a moral law needs
a Moral Lawgiver?
12. Would you agree that if it took
intelligence to make a model universe in a
science lab, then it took super-intelligence
to make the real universe?
13. Would you agree that it takes a cause
to make a small glass ball found in the
woods? And would you agree that making
the ball larger does not eliminate the need
for a cause? If so, then doesn’t the
biggest ball of all (the whole universe)
need a cause?
14. If there is a cause beyond the whole
finite (limited) universe, would not this
cause have to be beyond the finite,
namely, non-finite or infinite?
15. In the light of the anthropic principle
(that the universe was fine-tuned for the
emergence of life from its very inception),
wouldn’t it make sense to say there was
an intelligent being who preplanned
human life?

This is how I think it should be

Sin 85 - Cos 55 - Sin 25 = 0

Then;

[Sin 85 = (60+25)] - [Cos 55 = (30+25)] - sin 25 =0

[Sin 60*Cos 25 + Sin 25*Cos 60] -

[Cos 30*Cos 25 - Sin 30*Sin 25] - sin 25 =0

Add the whole thing. You get 9 people.

The next logical course of action would be to divide the number of girls on the team by the number above. Getting 5/9 which would be your final answer.

@ er . . . queed. embarassed
We shouldn't kill ourselves becos we want to solve mathematics undecided

g = 5
b = 4
total = 9

If we have to choose a girl then

p(G) = 5/9
since the condition attached to it is 'choosing a girl'
we have one less person to shoose from from the sample space (9-1 = cool, also the number of girls has been reduced by one (5-1=4)
Now e can pick a boy, or pick a girl.
so we would have a girl or a boy
4/8 + 4/8 = 1
possible outcome (1 ) decide by the total outcome(cool =1/8
5/9 * 1/8

5/72

Don't mind them!
Most Nigerian youths are actually selfish and lazy. They expect the government to do everything for them. They have forgotten that the government does not have time.

There is an adage that says, he who has no one to help him, should face his business squarely. But trust Nigerian youths to ignore this and wallow in suffering while blaming some 72 year old guy who has built them castles in the air.

Nigerian youths are intelligent. But they would rather use those brains to double and triple date, scam, cheat, steal, smuggle, and all sort of rubbish.

The morons will see an inspirational story about a fellow Nigerian youth that has made their mark. And the next thing would be to start claiming tribe, or giving excuses that that person was based abroad. Honestly! It frustrates me to see young minds who should be pushing forwarded the economy . . . insulting, exhibiting tribal bigotry . . . shouting that they want war and that they are ready to give their life for secession! What foolishness. Don't they have better things ti do with their lives? That offering it in a violent secession is the next step?

We really need to start thinking straight in Nigeria. We cannot succumb to the crabs-in-bucket situation. We should learn to work with each other despite differences. We should learn to help, we should learn to give and not take. We should learn to pull ourselves up. We should learn to be bright examples for either west African tribes.

Only then . . . can we become developed. angry
Well said bro, I get your points and I also feel your pain becose I have got this deep part of me in science/tech too. But we still need government backup, scientists from those countries mentioned had and are still having full support from their government. Welcome bro, Huge fan of philosophy here. . . It is well known that every branch of knowledge has its roots in philosophy even beliefs.

It was philosophy that started or proposed the questions. . and these questions gave birth to methods of answering them.

Religion and theology proposed answers that are meant to be believed without questions.…e.g: philosophy: Why does the rain fall? religion answers: a God did it.

Science approaches the question through study, research, observations and experiment and proposes answers that are always open to more study.
e.g: Philosophy: Why does it rain? scientific answer: Water circle

I understand that they are solid stated devices which comprises different logic units, and these gates have different functions. Each login unit/gate are made up of simpler semiconductors like transistors, diode, resistor caps, etc.. These semiconductors are made by doping silicon/germanium with a pent/ trivalent element.

ok, let's assume that a micro controller has been programmed to allows current to pass through on direction five seconds then switches off for 10seconds.
After reprogramming, it starts allowing current to go back and front for 3seconds, then makes it flow in only one direction for 5sec, after which it switches off for 15sec, then the cycle continues.

how is this possible huh
is the micro cotrl. changing it circulatory after reprogramming huh
or is it building new components inside itself huh
or is converting a transistor to a diode, diode to cap, resistor to inductor huh
or is it changing the chemistry of what's inside huh
