Kogi state police command have arrested some of the touts that attacked the state governor, Yahaya Bello’s convoy in Lokoja, the state capital today. The governor was leaving the Lokoja Central mosque where he had gone for Juma’at service when some aggrieved persons threw stones, foodstuffs and fruits at his convoy. A young woman identified as Sharon Okafor, 22, was arrested and arraigned in court for allegedly stabbing a salesgirl in the face with broken ceramic plates, following a disagreement over payment for drinks and N400 fried meat at a bar in Lekki Phase One, in Eti Osa Local Government Area.
According to Nigerian Tribune, the suspect said to be a second-hand cloth dealer, who was at the bar in the company of a man, simply identified as Kingsley had ordered for drinks and N400 fried meat.
They were served by the victim, Comfort, who demanded for payment after some times; since she was about to close closing and needed to tidy up sales book for the day. However, the defendant insisted that her friend, Kingsley would only pay when they were done.
According to the source, Kingsley tried to take back the drinks and then threw a plate at her, about 15 men later pounced on her and beat her up till she fainted.
Okafor was arraigned on Tuesday, August 16, by the police at Igbosere magistrates’ court.
The prosecuting officer, O. Balogun, told the court that Okafor “unlawfully assaulted the complainant with a breakable plate and injured her on the face.

Two suspected child kidnappers, Uche Umerua and Prophet Kenneth Alozie, have been arrested for kidnapping two siblings Jumai and Ayo Badmos, six and four years old, at the Igando area of Lagos state on Wednesday August 17th.
35-year-old Uche who is a barber in their area and well known to the children, went to their school during closing hours and asked them to follow him. According to him, their mother asked him to bring them home. The children followed Uche who took them to one prophet for spiritual work.
‘One Lady Chioma, who specializes in abducting children, asked me to abduct two children for her. I picked up the children on their way back from school lesson at Akesan Bus Stop at about 12noon. I handed them over to Mama Chioma, who took the children to a prophet. I was asked to bring N6,000 so that a charm will be made for me to enable me bring in more children for them. The woman and prophet asked me to leave the building that they will give me a call. Unfortunately, on getting to my place of work, police apprehended me.” he said.
Denying claims that he is part of the kidnappig syndicate, Prophet Kenneth Alozie of Hope in God Living Ministry said:
“Mama Chioma is a member of my church. She brought in Mr. Uche and the two children for payers. Mr. Uche explained to me that his wife abandoned him and their two children for over a year now and he needs prayers for his wife to return back home”.

When interrogated, the six year old victim said.
“They gave me rice and stew. They also bought drinks for us. He told us that it was our mummy that said he should buy them for us. I started crying when I did not see my mummy again. They did not cover our eyes. He said he was going to carry us to see my mummy but he carried me to another woman’s house. The place is not a church.”


Mother of two of the kidnapped children said:
“It was my sister that went to pick my children from the lesson venue. Unfortunately, when she got there she didn’t see them. I became worried and went to the police station to report. The police said we should go look for them first in the neighbourhood and ask my friends if they were with them. Luckily, one of the children who saw when the barber took my children, said he saw my children with him.”

Two Suspected oil thieves were arrested in Bayelsa on Friday by the Joint Military Force in the Niger Delta known as Operation Delta Safe (ODS), the command said it also impounded a vessel involved in illegal bunkering activities in the state waterways.
The joint force said the impounded 300 metric tons capacity vessel is currently anchored at Forward Operation Base (FOB) in Formosso, Brass in Bayelsa.
According to reports by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), FOB Commander, Navy Capt. Mayowa Olukoya, handed the two suspects over to Operation Delta Safe.
The two suspects were caught while loading the barge with suspected illegally refined diesel, Capt. Olukoya said at the handover.
“On July 25, my men of Nigeria Navy Ship (NNS) Sorro and FOB were alerted of suspected illegal bunkering activities at Oluasiri near Nembe.
“On arrival, a barge was being loaded with substance suspected to be illegally refined AGO; two suspects were apprehended, while two escaped even as we are intensifying efforts to arrest them.
“We actually caught them in the act. The volume of the AGO so far loaded into the 300 metric tons capacity barge is yet to be ascertained,” Olukoya said.
He However, added that the three local boats used by the suspected oil thieves were set ablaze at the crime scene.

Six people were shot dead by men of the Nigerian Army in Bokkos while protesting the attack on “Danan and Tasha Makarfi” villages by suspected Fulani herdsmen yesterday night.
Unknown assailants had stormed the villages to carry out attacks days after the traditional ruler of Bokkos and his family members were killed by suspected herdsmen. *graphic photo after the cut*
Angry youth, earlier today barricaded all major roads leading to the area in protest against the attack. Soldiers serving with the Special Task Force in Jos opened fire on the protesters, killing six, and leaving many others with varying degree of injuries.
“The protest that was stage today was peaceful. Nobody was molested,” writes D’yong Mangut, who shared the photo. “No house was burnt and neither was anybody killed, yet the Army boys choose to send six of them to their untimely grave with undisclosed numbers injured and currently undergoing treatment in the hospital.”
